Simons has hands down the greatest service and food for breakfast and lunch places in Sarasota! I've visited about 5 times already and every time, I have been greeted by the owner at the front, as well as by a friendly server right away. The service is amazing and the food is always on point. The specials menu changes weekly, with amazing vegan and vegetarian options available. I had the Costa Rican breakfast crapes and you could just tell the food was fresh and prepared correctly. I wanted to love this place after everything I've heard about it and living here for 3 years, we went for lunch. We had a pretty full day so my wife and I went in and order takeout. We got the London panini and 2 healthy lemonades. $31. I'm sorry, but a sandwich and 2 drinks for $31 is insane. So we waited on our order and I get they had a lunch rush so we were patient. 15 mins go by. Nothing. 30 mins go by. Nothing. 45 mins go by we ask how much longer. Our sandwich had been sitting behind the counter for 20 mins and the young lady never called out the order. So now I have a cold panini and watered down lemonade. Asked the owner if a panini was supposed to be hot and he said of course and I told him our food was ice cold. He offered to correct it but we didn't have another 45 mins to wait on another sandwich. I would advise the lunch rush. Not worth the $31 at all. read more

i use yo eat at this place often. usually order the "Jackie". one of the components i loved most was the seitan bacon. it had great flavor and a little crisp to it. it was devine!! Went back a couple weeks ago, ordered my Jackie sandwich, brought it home and OMG... the bacon was disgusting. soggy and way too salty. I don't know why you insisted on changing recipes but it's not working for you. Please bring back the old seitan bacon recipe!! and p.s. Can you not package your hot "to go" sandwiches in plastic containers. the steam makes the bread and everything else thats not supposed to be warm and wilted... warm, wilted and soggy! read more

Came across this place on our way out of town and what a gem! Looking for a quick breakfast and Simons far exceeded our expectations. Veggie omelet with goat cheese was fantastic. I was told this was a true bohemian place to get a coffee and chill. It was not, not even close. It was full of BMW driving fools who wanted to feel like they were chilling, but were only taking a min. to stop out of shopping at Macy's. The atmosphere was very poor. Its a strip mall with a few tables set out front. When we went on Sat. Morning around 9.30 they did not even have any scones. Coffee was way over priced and it was more like sitting in Panara's then some beatnick coffee house. The only difference is that Panara's is cheaper and has a much better atmosphere. I used to go to a few coffee shops in North Michigan that had true character, One in Wichita called river side perk that was very cool also. But this is obviously for people who think they are being cool and have no idea what chilling is. Its over priced, has no character at all, even if you put it up against a mall food court I think the food court would win. Save your money and look for some other place. Try down by the historic district. Even Starbucks down in the Historic district is 20x better. read more

I dunnooooo... clearly I just didn't order the right thing, but I am not a fan. The set up seems really awkward. 2 doors, and both had signs with arrows pointing to the opposite section for takeout orders. Pretty confusing. I got a BLT and really, really didn't like it. It's kinda the worst BLT I've ever had. The fakin' bacon was crazy salty and the texture just didn't do it for me. I much prefer tempeh bacon. Honestly I felt pretty sick for most of the day after eating it. The prices seemed high considering the sides are throwaway sides (fruit, chips). I will say that my husband was happy with his breakfast sandwich. Clearly Sarasota is hurting for awesome vegan food, because this isn't it. read more

My husband and I are on vacation for our anniversary and we stopped in to get a coffee. What a neat place ! As we walked in we were greeted by a man who I assume is the owner. He was so welcoming and friendly. As my husband waited for his fresh squeezed orange juice there was a last there that was giving complementary massages. I'm a local to the area that really enjoys coffee. Today I just happened to find my way to Simon's Coffee House for a meeting with some friends. The coffee was great, my special panini of the day was fantastic, but the level of service I received there was the best I've ever experienced. The host and servers were accommodating when I requested to move from the coffee bar to the table once my friends arrived. Our waitress was engaging, and had great recommendations on the food and drinks. She was also above and beyond kind to one of my friends who was having regrets on a recent life changing decision he had made. Seeing he was upset she came over and helped console him. Good for vegan posers. Eggs are Only scrambled /omelet. Since I have cooked professionally, I know they put their eggs in a bucket and mix. MY son ordered a panini(9:30 a.my.) he wanted meat in his diet. Frustrated by their pseudo vegan menu, I ordered a croissant with honey cream cheese(not on the menu but assured by owner to order what I want) and 2 coffees, $17.33, maybe I am getting old, but that price was ridiculous. MY on loved his panini, hated the mushroom veg soup I tasted both, the broth aspect was good. The owner greeted us after a couple or 4 minutes, when our waitress arrived, approx. 5 min later, service was okay - good. Actually tmi We won't go back.no meat, too expensive I could have had a wonderful breakfast at home with lox, sausages,eggs over medium and a bellini, creme brulee + for that price. Not only is the food really healthy but ITS DELICIOUS!! I loved the Vegetable Panini's they have. Also, they make a fresh side salad every day, and I am not talking about a side of "Hearts of Lettuce" either. Its always some type of healthy bean salad or barley thing-a-ma-giggie. Last one I had I cant even remember what was in it. But it was really healthy and REALLY delicious. While waiting there, I spoke to Simon himself about Wheat grass and he was very knowledgeable about where they harvest the type of wheat grass he sells there and the health benefits of it. It was nice to see that even an owner of a busy restaurant can take the time to give customers individual attention without compromising other customers time that are waiting for their food. Was next door getting a tattoo done and was in dire need to get some food and was told the food next door was really good. Apparently they get fresh bread from the bakery so I decided to get a sandwich. Got the London sandwich with the daily side special, today it was roasted garlic potato salad. Wow! Very yummy, very fast too. My friend is a vegetarian and had a tofu panini, he is a regular and eats her quite a bit. I will be back, and this is the type of place where i am going to try everything on the menu at one point or another, especially see what all the hype around the soup is. read more

They have a great organic coffee house blend that I would recommend, especially if you're sick of weak coffee at every breakfast place in town! As the focus of the menu is organic and vegan most of the options aren't what I would consider exciting, but if you're not going specifically for vegan, I would recommend the roast beef horseradish panini or corned beef panini. You can opt for a 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup or salad. Soups I've tried are all great. Awesome pastries, fresh squeezed juices, and desserts available. This place is a great option for those of you looking for GLUTEN FREE or simply fresh food. Nice inviting atmosphere as well. Great place to meet friends for brunch. The owners are a very active part of the place, busing tables when needed and making sure everyone's happy. That says a lot about a restaurant. I'll be back. read more

Simon's is one of my favorites! I've only been for lunch (maybe 6 times now) and everytime it's perfect: the fun atmosphere, ever-changing daily menu specials, service, and food. I look forward to a visit to Simon's every time I'm in Sarasota. It's tucked away in a strip mall but offers adequate indoor seating and houses several tables outside as well. I've had several of the homemade soups including the Greens (kale, spinach and collards pureeds with broth - yum!), Manhattan clam chowder (delicious!), cold watermelon soup (very refreshing), black bean...they are ALL delicious! And the servers are great about letting you taste a sample before you commit. (I can never decide as all of the soups sound awesome!) I really enjoyed the vegetarian chili on a previous visit but was impressed with my decision to go with the Manhattan clam chowder & the Godfather Panini (today's special) - crunchy, pressed bread with salty salami, gooey provolone, ham (I got mine sans ham), tangy balsamic, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts and arugula. It was messy but tasty. Simon's serves a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, fresh juices, and has a decent beer and wine selection too. In more metropolitan/cosmopolitan cities a place with a menu such as Simon's might be a more everyday find but in Sarasota it is like unearthing a menu from the future in a special secret awesome time capsule. I'm vegan and in Sarasota that's pretty much a joke when you go out to eat - either your server will cock their head like a pet dog and look at you with wonder or they will bring you an iceberg lettuce salad and maybe if you're lucky your 1000th veggie burger of the season. Simon's has things I can eat! And not just that, really good things!! Grilled panini with roasted vegetables minus the cheese, minus the dill dressing and plus hummus with a side of veggie chips - YUM! RAW veggie lasagna - what?! In Florida? Yes!! Fresh juices, nice. I know I'm heavy on the veegs promo but jeez when you've been eating zip or fries with your friends when you go out because there's nothing else for ya this place will just take your breath away. Ahh, thank you thank you Simon's. They also have all sorts of sandwiches, soups, breakfast stuff, meals, desserts, etc for the regular eater too. I was with a bunch of people on my last visit and everyone was nomming all the way through their food -- veg, veeg and meat-eater alike. Simon's has THE BEST soups in town. Not only that but the breads, sandwiches and deserts are to DIE for!!! I love eating organic food from locally owned restaurants. It is one of my joy de vivres! Simon (a handsome fellow) and his family and staff are always so friendly...even when they are supder duper busy. We love seeing our local restaurants busy, dont we! I always know that I am going to enjoy my food from this great breakfast and lunch venue. The food always comes quickly too, this is great for my lunch break...I call and order and its ready and waiting when I go in. The portions are perfect for one person and the prices are worth paying. Again I have to make a point that Simon's has the same waitresses working there that were there when I started going years ago. They always remember me and make me feel good to be there even if they are not my server for that day. That really says something about the kind of people Simon and his family are. My favourite soups are the tomato basil, the creamy tomato, the curry veggies, the curry cauliflower, the black bean soup, the clam chowder (both red and white)....the list goes on and on....I am a soup LOVER so this is important to me :) My favourite drink is the healthy lemonade. Lemon and apples juiced to order make the best drink on earth....mmmm Dinner is also delicious but Simon's closes before I get out of work so I only get to experience it once in a while. The dinners are exquisite and designed by a creative healthy chef. Prices are a little steep at dinner but the quality of the food is worth it. Visited Simon's Coffee House for the first time this week, Loved the atmosphere immediately. Staff was welcoming and friendly and they could tell I was not sure of what part of the restaurant I should be in and helpfully directed me to the right spot. So far so good. Great selection of food and I settled on the English Breakfast Sandwich. Food was fantastic, coffee was fresh, hot and delicious. I WILL be a regular. Great spot in a very convenient Tamiami Trail (Hwy 41) location. If you are visiting Sarasota or live there, make sure you try Simon's. read more

I can't believe I have never reviewed Simon's after going there for so many years. I suppose I just want it all for me! Simon's is more than a place for great food that is fresh and delicious, it is a warm and friendly environment for all who visit. Many locals are regulars and tourists are welcomed equally. Simon and his family are hands on owners who are passionate about good food and excellent service. Most of the staff have been there for many years and we love Jodi and Lisa at the counter. I could describe the food but the menu is pretty diverse and you just need to know you will find something that speaks to you and your craving of the day, fresh juice, smoothies, vegetarian entree or something for the meat eaters, too.
