    Corned Beef and Cabbage
    Jay D.

We happened upon this place when out searching one evening for a good dinner spot, and were very happy to find this family restaurant. It was a lot bigger than I expected, very clean and well maintained. Our service was phenomenal. We loved our waitress, and found ourselves talking with her before leaving for quite a bit. Food wise, everything was good, and I would have no issue recommending anyone to eat here. While some of the things we had were not "the absolute best" we've ever had, a lot of the stuff was great. For example, I got the Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. The portion was great, and the corned beef was excellent. However, the rest of the dish was very plain. The cabbage, potatoes, and carrots seemed to be just boiled in water and put on the plate. The french onion soup was nothing special, but was good. My teens each had one of the fried chicken sandwiches, and they said those were some of the best they've ever had. My youngest opted for the spaghetti and meatball, and said it was very good. They had a pretty nice menu of things that other places where we're from don't have, so I look forward to coming here again. We all agreed it would be added on to the list of places we frequent when we're in town.

We had the sauerkraut balls for appetizer. I had the Cobb salad for my meal. My wife got chicken marsalla and I got a side of potato salad. The service was excellent. It's definitely a great Jewish deli. The deserts are the first thing you see when entering the restaurant. We have eaten there multiple times and all there food is so delicious.

Great corn beef sandwich. It was delicious. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant has a family style feel. I love that. I didn't care too much for the a la cart menu. Everything was separate ... on the pricy side. I would go back and try something else for sure.

Always a good meal and great service here! I had the Eggplant Parmesan and my husband had the Stuffed Cabbage, both our favorites. The dining room was clean and in good repair. The server was attentive and professional. I would highly recommend.

We were seated quickly and I was looking forward to a good meal, but alas, that was not to be. After taking our drink order the server told us that there would be: A 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill (fine, it's to be expected), and there would be a 3% surcharge if you paid with anything other than cash (ugh) and oh yeah, they won't split the check. We should just pick somebody to pay the whole check and we could "just Venmo them" (and I guess, figure out a way to also split the 3% surcharge). Can't get around the surcharge as no one I know walks around with hundreds of dollars in their wallet, of course. None of this information is mentioned on their website or their socials or Open Table. It made for an ugly and embarrassing surprise,to say the least. Anyway, we all were shocked by that last item so we told the server we'd pay for our drinks but we were leaving. I'm a big supporter of independent restaurants but this ridiculous policy is incredibly alienating. So, birthday dinner plans ruined we made do with a local chain around the corner. Food was so so but at least they were pleasant, professional and accommodating for our large party. We tipped accordingly.

Service is usually fine - even though it does seem like this place is perpetually understaffed trying to keep up with walk ins since they don't take reservations. We don't mind waiting and always tip extra because they do work hard. So happy this is in our community now. Food is flavorful and the portions are big. But the menu is your standard fare, nothing exceptional, nothing creative, nothing done exceptionally well. They took the Denny's portion of the breakfast menu and simply duplicated it. It was incredibly, incredibly average food. And I mean av-er-age! The OJ was good... The coffee, frankly, was very good. Never underestimate a good cup of coffee. I created my own omelete, and added salmon, veggies, and feta. It was ok. Nothing exceptional. It did the job. I don't understand this.I asked if I could sub a pancake for the home fries? NOPE. Can't do it. They don't permit it. So I ordered one large blueberry pancake in addition to my omelete. It was a decent pancake with lots of blueberries. Liked it better than the omelete. My server was very kind and did what she could by not charging for the coffee. Ya gotta love a server who tries to be on the customer side of an unfair policy. She was awesome for that. My buddy got the big breakfast (whatever they call it), and the bacon looked awesome. There was a lot of food on his plate. My point is, if you want a basic, basic breakfast and nothing more, and you happen to be near one, you'll be fine. But if you like more than the 5 basic colors in your Crayola Crayon box, go elsewhere.

I met a friend for breakfast this morning, and everything from start to finish was spot on. I ordered the Sweet Jalapeño Sandwich: an English muffin piled with jam, bacon, an egg cooked over medium, and cheddar, served with home fries. It was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and just a little kick. My friend stuck with her usual: the Banana & Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding French Toast, topped with fresh bananas and their homemade bourbon caramel sauce, plus a side of pork belly. It looked incredible and, according to her, tasted just as good as it always does. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 8:00 and were seated right away. The service was friendly, attentive, and very prompt without feeling rushed. Scratch has such a great casual, local diner feel, but with a menu that's anything but ordinary.
