I have been wanting to try Brick and Vine for quite some time and we were all very happy with our dinner and drinks as every bite and sip was perfection! They have wine specials available on Wednesdays on glasses and bottles. We ate in the downstairs bar area and it was a little noisy but not too bad. I definitely recommend making a reservation as they filled up quickly! Our waitress was very attentive and everyone really liked the buttermilk dill dressing on the wedge salad. The pork chop was juicy and delicious! The chicken piccata had great flavor and the steak was cooked perfectly. They have an upstairs dining area that we didn't check out and a small patio. Parking can be found in the lot that is shared with multiple businesses but we were able to grab a close spot! We will definitely be back! Diner beware, this is NOT the place to go if there are more than 5 people in your group! I booked a table for 10 for a birthday dinner a few weeks in advance. We were seated quickly and I was looking forward to a good meal, but alas, that was not to be. After taking our drink order the server told us that there would be: A 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill (fine, it's to be expected), and there would be a 3% surcharge if you paid with anything other than cash (ugh) and oh yeah, they won't split the check. We should just pick somebody to pay the whole check and we could "just Venmo them" (and I guess, figure out a way to also split the 3% surcharge). Can't get around the surcharge as no one I know walks around with hundreds of dollars in their wallet, of course. None of this information is mentioned on their website or their socials or Open Table. It made for an ugly and embarrassing surprise,to say the least. Anyway, we all were shocked by that last item so we told the server we'd pay for our drinks but we were leaving. I'm a big supporter of independent restaurants but this ridiculous policy is incredibly alienating. So, birthday dinner plans ruined we made do with a local chain around the corner. I will start with ambience. It is nicely decorated. Drinks - we both got the margarita and it was well done. Food - we started with the crab cake and it was very good. This was our first visit to Brick and Vine, which is located on the corner of Rte 82 and Brecksville Rd. There is free street parking and a free lot behind the restaurant. When you enter the building you are in the bar area with a few small tables. They offer happy hour in the bar and patio until 6:00. We were seated upstairs in the restaurant which was filled with tables and not crowded so were seated immediately. It took awhile to get our cocktails and put our food order in but our meals came out quickly. We had the gazpacho soup and chicken piccata both prepared fresh. Sat at the bar, Denise was extremly good and accomidating. The overall atmosphere was extremely inviting. Had a wedge salad, very good, my freind had a ceasar salad which she said was also very good. Then we split a cheese pizza, which was okay considering it was gluten free. Definetly nothing special and would never order it again. We each had two cocktails, gin and tonic and a margarita and a special, really can't mess these up so I would say they were good. The overall experience was good but the prices were extremely high, even by todays standards. I Would only recomend if you definetly need gluten free since this place has all/many options. I'm so impressed that the entire menu is gluten-free! The friend I went with is dairy and gluten-free and had been wanting to try this place. The menu looked great, so I happily agreed. We came for lunch and were seated upstairs. The vibe upstairs seemed a lot more welcoming compared to downstairs. I ordered lemonade for my drink, and then we ordered the blue crab cake to share, which was delicious! For my entrée, I ordered the cheese pizza. For being gluten-free, I really couldn't believe how good the crust was! I've had gluten-free pizza before, and the crust almost always needs improvement. That wasn't the case here! Overall, everything was very pleasant. The only slight disappointment was that once I got home and ate my leftovers for dinner, the pizza had a grainy texture to it. I've been a day one customer and was rooting for them, but sadly, I threw in the towel after several annoying instances. They took their arancini balls off the menu which me and several others believed should have been a "staple." Also, why put a restaurant in a tiny space and not even have a place for a hostess stand? Most of my frustration comes from the service, you're in hospitality! Stop hiring poor staff (and I am saying this after not just one but several bad experiences). Unfortunately had the bistro steak and frites and the steak was very chewy for both of us and my husband couldn't chew many pieces. So happy they decided to keep the "all gluten free" concept - this place is just honestly incredible. The most welcoming and sweet owners and the staff is always so engaging and thoughtful. We are so lucky to live in this town but encourage anyone to make the drive if you don't - you won't be disappointed. My seabass was incredible - huge portion and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the cheese tortellini with vodka sauce and the pasta was so light and delicate - I literally could have licked the plate - lol...just amazing flavor and the freshest homemade pasta. I went to Brick & Vine on Saturday night @ 7 pm, we were able to reserve a table through OpenTable. The interior is beautiful, the music was enjoyable and the service was excellent. I was greeted quickly by Kaman, he acknowledged I was waiting on a friend but asked for my drink order. I simply asked for "their best Pinot" and he knew exactly what to bring over & yes, it was great. We ordered the crab cake (which I ended up ordering a second order because it was SO delicious), as well as the tortellini as well as the steak. We really enjoyed the food and can't wait to be back! Pretentious pricing and poor service. I sat at the bar, was ignored for nearly 10 minutes by the bartender, whose apparent talent is to make herself look busy and annoyed. When I finally got my $18 old fashion, it was nothing special. The bartender then made a conscious effort to avoid us to the point that we even when we tried to pay, we waited another 10 minutes trying to give her our card to tab out. Keep in mind, the restaurant and bar was not full, the whole act of looking busy just exemplified the incompetence of the bartender and her lack of service. Brick and Vine is a stylish restaurant with a good vibe. Our party of six was enthusiastic about dining here. We arrived a few minutes before our 7:00 pm reservation on Wednesday. At 7:15 we were seated and our server took our drink orders. At 7:30 we saw the tray with our drinks brought up to the dining room. It was another ten minutes before our server brought our drinks to us. By that point the ice was melting. My drink cost $18. The six of us ordered a variety of drinks, appetizers, and entrees. I ordered the appetizer Achiote Grilled Oishii Shrimp. When it arrived it was burned. You could smell the char. We were amazed that food made it out of the kitchen. I asked our server to send it back and please have another order made. He did.I thought the kitchen would expedite the new order since the rest of our party was served already. That was not what happened. It took so long that everyone else had finished their entrees by the time my new order arrived. It was not burned but it was tough, chewy, and dry. Our server never came back to check on us; he was very busy for at least ten minutes chatting with the guests at another table near us. Finally, I got the attention of a bus girl and asked her to return the shrimp to the kitchen and take it off my bill. She kindly and efficiently met my request. Unfortunately, we didn't have a very good experience. We ordered takeout and tried the roasted chicken, wedge salad, chicken sandwich, two pizzas and beets. The chicken was weirdly snall. The wedge salad was chopped up (not a wedge) and slathered with strong onions. The sandwich was ok, but pricey and not as good as other spots. The pizzas were fine but a lot more expensive than a pizza place. Checkout was really slow. 15 minutes to pay. The front of house said only the bartender could ring it up. The bartender was doing something else. Then the bartender went to a different register than the bar. Surely someone besides a busy bartender can let you pay? We really wanted to like it. We decided to try Brick and Vine after enjoying the former restaurant Carpe Raci in the same location. We were seated upstairs in the back left corner about 2 feet away from a couple that was dining. I would understand if it were busy and there was limited seating, but there were MANY empty tables why sit us practically on top of other people!? The waitress came over and introduced herself as Emma. She mentioned that they had drinks specials available, but we opted for a coke and a water. We also put in an order for the warm baguette plate as an appetizer and also put in our entree order as well. We watched Emma serve other tables bringing drinks from the bar, bringing food and even the bill as people left. We waited approximately 30 minutes with no appetizer or coke. I would understand if they had to make or cook the appetizer, but it was simply putting together some baguette and some pickled vegetables as the menu stated. And simply getting coke from a beverage machine not like a bartender making a drink. After waiting approximately 30 minutes with no appetizer or coke, we walked out and went to another restaurant where we received prompt and courteous service. We will not be returning to Brick and Vine which is sad bc Capre Raci was such a quaint, friendly, and good place to eat, but apparently the new owner did not follow suit. read more
