Bought my daughter's 1st car, a 2011 Ford Fusion in early 2024 with $5000, which is all I could afford. I have now had to put almost $4000 im repairs including new tires, leaky oil and transmission fluids and a snapped, rusted out front drivers tie rod. Took car to simotes for maintenance and they did not motocross the rusted out tie rods or leaking transmission fluid. Then 2 weeks after giving them over $1000 to fix that the tie rod snapped while my daughter was driving to school. read more

Purchased 1 2011 Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins DRW from Simotes in March of 2020, just as the COvid-19 lockdowns started to hit. This truck looked and drove great initially, but after getting it back home to Peoria Illinois, this truck has been a complete and total nightmare. From having to replace the turbocharger within a month, to having to replace the transmission and transfer case within 5, this truck has sat in my shop has been in my shop more than it's been on the road. The salesman was kind of disrespectful as well, when transferring plates from one truck to another, he removed a plate frame bringing attention to veteran suicides, and putting a Simotes plate frame on. I wouldn't buy another vehicle here is they were the last dealership in the state. read more

I bought a 15-year-old used car here a couple months ago. It was a cream puff with 75K miles, though not without its issues. Simotes was perfectly candid when I asked what maintenance and repairs they had done to make it resalable. They also presented the car conspicuously "as-is" with an illuminated check-engine light rather than trying to conceal it with periodic OBDII code resets. They were straightforward with why there was a CEL (which I confirmed by bringing and plugging in my own OBDII scanner), what they had done to try to correct it, and the degree of difficulty I would face trying to address it should I become the next owner. When we sat down to hash out a deal, they neither gave away the car nor brow-beat me into overpaying -- it was an old-fashioned, good-faith negotiation between two parties who had come to respect each other. I wish I can say I had a good car buying experience .. purchased a car about 2 years ago and had problems with it every since . I've brought it in MULTIPLE times only to be CHARGED for parts that DID NOT fix the car, I've spent a lot of money on things that didn't fix the PROBLEMS with no refund. The car should of NEVER been sold how messed up it is . The car turns off on its own randomly at redlights, or when I'm stopped to long, the engine misfires bad and the car was sold like that . To top it off I put a down payment of HALF of what they were asking only to be told i would have a 19+% interest rate with a NON EXISTENT loan company called MAVERICK AUTO LENDING LLC .. you can't find any reviews, numbers, or anything on the place ..to top that off, they DO NOT REPORT PAYMENTS TO CREDIT BUREAUS so I end up paying two years on car that THEY CANT FIX WITH A 19%+ interest rate with NO REPORTED PAYMENTS on a 2006 CHRYSLER 300 ..(edit) APRIL 2, 2020 5:38 just got off the phone with Michael the manager and he is now saying he'll KEEP my car a couple more days and PERSONALLY test drive it himself if I take this 1 review down ... ARE YOU SERIOUS !?!? I highly recommend this dealership. The transmission was going out in my current car and it was time to trade it in. I was hoping to wait another year because unfortunately, I had lost my job and was working retail, so I was only making 1/3 of my normal salary. I was concerned that I would not be able to find a car that was affordable for me. We did find a car, but within days, the check engine light went on. My car ended up being in their service center, on and off, for almost a month. It was in the shop more than I was able to drive it. They even sent the car to a Chevy dealership, to see if they were able to fix the issue. Unfortunately, the repair was not able to be fixed without having to replace the whole engine. I was so stressed out, because I had no car and I could not afford to pay for any costly repairs, on top of having a car payment, on a small salary. I was at my wits end, but Grant called me and said he found another car that was proportional to the car I just bought. In the end, I got a better car, along with the Simotes warranty that they offer(which I suggest purchasing), at a lower price. Grant did not leave me high and dry. He genuinely wanted to make sure I had a reliable and economical car and he made that happen. Mike, was my salesman, and provided excellent customer service. And Greg (I think that's his name), who worked in the service center, did everything he could to take care of my car and he kept me posted constantly on the status of the repairs. A big thank you goes out to the whole Simotes team for everything they did. I have a new job now, and a car that I can easily pay for and I can also depend on to get me to work. One of the few places left that carry cars in that hard to find 3500-7000 range. Most dealerships don't bother they simply take those cars to the auction. But if you have a child looking for a first car or if you don't want to get into a second car payment Simote's is the spot. The sales staff isn't pushy and they will work with you if they can. Traveling on I 80 had overheating issues. This was a Saturday service is closed. Left the car and Art started on it first thing Monday morning. He diagnosed the problem. Sadly the motor was blown. He stayed in contact with us and when we came to empty the car out he made the time to meet us and explain further about the car. Evidently don't want to sell cars. My wife just stopped there, walked the lot for 10-15 minutes and wasn't greeted by anyone. Thanks to the ignorance of the sales man that I had,who was a chauvinistic a$$hole, I took my business else where. I have never been so disgusted and treated like so rudely and with high pressure sales tactics to top it off. My interest in a particular vehicle was met with the need to finance it immediately to get it off their lot. The salesman refused to listen to the fact that my large down payment would be in a few days. Stay away at all costs. Brought my daughter in hopes to purchase a $5000-6000 used car. We asked to be given what cars are under $6000 and they refused to give us prices unless we drove the car first. After we attempted to drive a car and it broke down in front of us we decided to leave. A manager walked out to our car and asked us what he could do to make us happy and I had to inform him that their business practices we very dishonest. Our salesman was a nice kid but could not answer any pricing about any of the cars. It was a very pleasant experience from start to finish. This is the 39th car I have owned and I have never had a better and easier process. Very Disappointed. I visited their location to test drive an older Miata. The car was in nice shape, paint was better than expected for a 14 year old vehicle and the test drive went smooth. We agreed on a price, I wrote a check and I asked them to hold the car for a couple of weeks (it was the middle of winter so I needed a dry day to drive it home, 100 miles). Then they requested I fill out a credit application. What? I had just paid for the car by check and was not going to pick it up for a few weeks, plenty of time for the check to clear (the check cleared my bank the next day). They said it was standard operating procedure, looked me in the eye and said they would NOT run my credit. As you know each company to "run your credit" shows up on your credit report and too many inquires has a negative impact. I have a very high credit score and have worked very hard to keep it there. Doing a quarterly review I see "Simotes" listed on my credit report, February 7, 2014 the VERY SAME DAY they said they would NOT run a credit report. Stay far far away from this place! Not only are the cars junk! The sales staff are totally unprofessional. I inquired about a vehicle via the internet and I drove from Joliet to see it. I took to my mechanic and it had oil leaking and the check engine light came on as I was driving back to the dealership. I was about to leave and then the salesman asked me to drive an 2002 Audi that had over 150,000 miles on it and I took it back to my mechanic and guess what??? It had major issues that had been masked. When I took it back and asked for my check stubs the salesman gave me an attitude and tried to act like they were not going to give my paperwork back. I got upset and went into the GM office and then the guy started saying "No one else will finance me" Saying "he bet I enjoyed driving around in the old used ragged Audi" Seriously??? I put 700 down and post dated a check for the following fri for 500, they gave me their word that they would not deposit it until fri, and that they couldn't take post dated checks but would hold it.
