The Saturday that I went to Simple Delights and tried their breakfast combos, was one of the fullest I have ever been.. and I was very happy. I came here with my daughter and we were greeted once we got inside. There was limited parking spots because the place was in a small commercial strip. There was no dine in service since they were strictly following the Covid precautions so we waited there for our meals to be cooked. We tried the DAINGSILOG and LONGSILOG. Both the daing na bangus and longganisa were delicious, especially with the garlic fried rice. I loved the toasted garlic that were sprinkled on the rice. While waiting for our breakfast combo meals, the smell of fresh-out-of-the-oven PAN DE SAL was distracting me so I had to get a few pieces. They were still warm and soft, so how could I resist?! They also encouraged my daughter to try their freshly made chicken emapanada. We loved it. It was stuffed with delicious filling and the pastry was so good. I am definitely going back to try other meals. Hopefully I can get lucky again with my timing so I can catch those warm and delicious pan de sal. The service we received was great. They were friendly, efficient and very pleasant. Til next time.

Where I get my Pinoy food fix. They have a website where you can see where they offer other foods. This place is less than a 5 min drive away and I only have to encounter 1 street light! Easy and lazy for me.

We are so happy to see a Filipino breakfast place in Morton Grove! We tried 5 of their 7 breakfast combos (see photos). All are served with garlic fried rice, an over easy egg, and a side of pickled vegetables. DaingSilog - Marinated Milkfish - very good, a few fish bones Tocilog - Cured Pork Tocino - tender, flavorful LongSilog - Filipino Sausage Longanisa - excellent- not too fatty like at other places (Why that name? LONGanisa / SInangag fried rice / itLOG fried egg) TapSilog - Cured Beef - tasty but a bit dry. Will skip next time CornBeefSilof - Corned Beef with onions - my personal favorite There are also 2 other fish dishes that we have not yet tried (Dried fish tuyo and Smoked fish tinapa) The bakery portion has excellent empanadas very generously filled with meat, pan de sal bread rolls, hopia, siopao, fresh lumpia, and so much more. Check this place out! Call ahead for Filipino breakfast, as each one is made to order.

I recently stumbled upon Simple Delights after dropping off something at a nearby big box store. Simple Delights is basically the opposite of anything big box, as it is a quaint Filipino bakery and cafe. The sign in the front window touts an all day breakfast, but I just wanted a snack to go. The cashier said the store has been around for 8 years, and I had no idea that this place has been around this long. There were a few familiar baked goods on the counter, so I went with a chicken empanada. It was ok but after eating it I soon realized that I was not a big fan of Filipino-style empanadas, which are more akin to an Asian bun rather than a Latin-style empanada (baked or fried). Perhaps I will have to try something like the sweeter ensaymada roll if I am back here.

Apparently, there's not that many Filipino restaurants in Chicago and if you want any, you have to drive outside the city. Our aunt felt the need to feed us comfort food and I'm game. Ensaymada: This is Filipino brioche with smeared butter and sugar sprinkled on top. Pretty good. Plenty of butter and sugar on top. Tapsilog & Dasilog: Garlic rice is pretty good. They didn't mess up the eggs. The fish was not overly done (aka so dry it turned into jerky). For those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about... * TAPSILOG - TAPa or beef, SInangag or garlic rice, and itLOG which means egg. * DASILOG - DAing or milkfish, SInangag, and itLOG. Fried Vegetable/Spring Rolls: REALLY good. Calamansi juice: From concentrate. But really good. I've had some before where it was bland and watery. Mango juice: Really really good. Ice cream: Filipino ice cream!!! Yey!

Counter Service. Neighborhood. Enjoyed BBQ PORK that is best consumed when catered with big rice spoons. Puny plastic spoons are a hindrance to enjoying good food. BBQ PORK isn't sweet as others, but an extra calamansi would make it better. MAMI CHICKEN is so-so with light flavor and just right ingredients. SMOKED MACKEREL available. PRICING is a tad high, less than $5 should be appropriate. I don't believe the breakfast combo is a deal but a necessity to enjoy a meal that you need to have rice to enjoy BBQ PORK.

I was a bit surprised to see all the horrible review. I had great service when I was there. I'm not familiar with Filipino baked goods and the guy took his time and explained it. I ordered some kind of bread with ube in it and a dessert. I forgot the names!!! I didn't love the dessert but my brother did. I did love the bread. It was warm and not too sweet.

How glad I was that I looked at Yelp before I made my food choices- I was hungry enough that I almost gave into the hot dog stand across the street at Home Depot (which actually makes a decent dog) but I held out because Melanie got me with the idea of breakfast. I didn't get breakfast however- I met MUNGGO!!!!!! How have I lived past forty with out experiencing this delicious smoosh of mung beans and whatever else goes in it?? It's like black eyed peas from Asia. I'm hooked. GO try it. And who doesn't need a chicken soup called "Mami"? WHY doen't all cultures call their chicken soup Mami? This stuff is not as good as the best Mexican Caldo I've ever had, or the best Matzo, but it's up there. Great noodles. Good broth, fresh veg accoutremonts. And cheap, yes sir. I'll be back.

humba is very good i love it

stopped in (finally) to pick up a few treats to entertain guests coming for coffee. Great…read moreassortment to choose from.. difficult even, but we were able to fill a box to everyone's enjoyment. I really liked the assortment of cakes, pies, cookies and more available and will certainly be back again.. and again. A suggestion: While I was intrigued by the sandwich board I had no way to know what the sandwich would look like. Bread? pandora? Ciabatta? 6", 8", 10", 12"... or bread loaf slices? So my suggestion is they get some photos taken or make a few sandwiches wrapped and ready to grab n go. Make one of each and see what sells. I'd use sandwiches as a way to bring in customers who will then purchase a pastry or cookie.. or come back when they need something sweet. sorry, no photos... pastries were gone too fast and they were delicious.

I came across New Paradise…read morethrough their Instagram page and based on their featured content, I decided to check them out. That decision was worth the visit. I had delicious coffee, pastry, and gelato. I received good, friendly service. I had a cream and fruits filled croissant, coffee, and a cup of gelato with coconut and pistachio flavors. They were all delicious and pretty good. The gentleman who served me gave me a generous portion of their homemade gelato which was creamy and flavorful. I enjoyed my experience here. I liked the variety of pastries and other sweet treats this fime establishment had to offer. I definitely recommend checking them out.
