That decision was worth the visit. I had delicious coffee, pastry, and gelato. I received good, friendly service. I had a cream and fruits filled croissant, coffee, and a cup of gelato with coconut and pistachio flavors. They were all delicious and pretty good. The gentleman who served me gave me a generous portion of their homemade gelato which was creamy and flavorful. I enjoyed my experience here. It was our first time visiting the New Paradise Bakery. It's a nice bakery and has a lot of delicious looking sweets. It also has a dining room where you can sit and relax and enjoy your treats. The girl behind the counter was helpful and kind, and she prepared our cannolis fresh. We got traditional and pistachio cannolis, a mini cream puff, and some butter cookies. Today I called this bakery and asked them if they still made sandwiches and the man who answered the phone said tomorrow. But then we talked and I told him I would pick it up in 2 hours. I was in luck, he said that a perfect amount of time and he would make 1 for me. I asked him to please make 2 12 inch Italian cold cut sub sandwiches, cut into 4. To my surprise, that man was the owner. He went above and beyond to make my sandwiches, he even told me he baked the bread fresh just for me! This place did not disappoint! I don't come for the ambience. The bakery is where it's at. This place never misses. Folks behind the counter are always very helpful with helping you put a box together. Plenty of variety. For that variety, don't go right when they open. Wait a minute. If you do go right when they open, grab some bombolini. Have them type you some fresh cannoli. They even put together a killer cake for me with little notice. It's not unusual to have one of the owners wait on you. Someone brought me a box of cannolis from this bakery so my review is based on what I've tried - Pistachio Cream Cannoli with a dipped shell and Nutella filled Cannoli with a dipped chocolate shell. I also tried a half Nutella/white chocolate Cannoli. The presentation of these are beautiful and an absolutely stunning treat to bring someone as a gift. I have to admit, I was hesitant to even dig into them as they looked so perfect. I LOVE pistachio, so naturally I tried the pistachio cream cannoli first. The shell was crunchy (not soggy whatsoever) with good flavor and the cream was OMG so rich. It tastes like a pistachio white chocolate with an incredibly silky texture - similar to Nutella or melted chocolate. With each bite the cream oozes out, and there is no skimping on the filling. Maybe too rich to have all at once, but lovely to share. The chocolate cannolis were also delicious. Fresh and crispy shells flooded with Nutella. If you love Nutella, this one is for you. If Nutella isn't your favorite, this might be an overload for you. The half and half option was nice because the Nutella is so decadent, that the white chocolate breaks it up nicely. Because the chocolate ones were so rich, I ate them with fresh strawberries and nuts and it paired really well. I'm really looking forward to visiting and trying traditional ricotta filled cannolis as well as some of their other desserts. read more

My parents were celebrating their 25th anniversary. After an amazing experience at new paradise for lunch once, we decided to get their cake from here as well. They proved to be the best decision for the cake, it was so delicious and beautiful. Our neighborhood gelato place always seems to be mismanaged whether it's a staffing shortage or the fact that it always looks like they just moved in, boxes everywhere, supplies thrown haphazardly, etc. The young people manning the counters never seem to have any help when more than three customers get to the register. While the food and products are always great, the environment and ambiance always seem to be in disarray. Having been a manager at another dessert establishment myself in my younger years it just seems like the current management is over his/her head here. What an exciting new business! We visited over opening weekend, and they were quite busy, but overall the line moved pretty fast. The best strategy is to get some gelato and eat it while you wait in line. ;) They were "temporarily cash only" this weekend - not sure how long that will last, but I would bring plenty of cash with you, just in case. The cannoli were great! The shell was light and crispy and the cream was delicious. I am honestly not much of a cannoli fan, but these were some of the best. The big draw for me is the fact that they sell gelato. Sadly, the coffee gelato was not my favorite iteration. I have had this flavor a lot - here, in Italy, all over, so perhaps I am a bit discriminating. I think it had undertones of hazelnut, but I would get the nocciola if that is what I craved. On the other hand, the chocolate was good, and the pistachio was great. I think they could diversify the gelato flavors a little more. I feel like they asked themselves "what do Americans like to eat?", and so there were too many versions of chocolate-like flavors, and flavors I don't crave in my gelato, like Oreo. The addition of lemon (and/or other citrus), crema, coconut, etc., would be welcome. As it is, I think there were only like 3 fruity flavors. I believe they were strawberry, raspberry, and mixed berry. To reach for the stars, they could even consider the addition of granita to the menu. :) read more

My wife and I were looking to order a birthday cake for our 2 year old daughter. We had recently moved in the area so we wanted to find someplace close to us. Our daughter had recently got into Masha and the bear (kids show on netflix). So we decided to look for places that would be accommodate us with 4 days prior to her bday. The person we called said they would get back to us to see if they could make it. And to our delight they were willing to do it. They gave us updates making sure details were ok via texts. When we arrived on the day of. They greeted us with so much kindness. The owners and staff were so excited to show us the cake saying it looked amazing. Once we saw the cake we were stunned with how it came out. The details were amazing and they even made custom candles for the cake. They also surprised us with a smaller cake just case it wasn't enough for our guests. Overall the service was amazing. As for the cake itself when we brought it out to sing happy birthday. Our daughter smiled with so much joy. We got a lot of compliments on how it looked but how it tasted was beyond our expectations. It was by far one of the best cakes we ever had. The cake was fluffy and moist, the strawberry filling was on point, and it had the perfect amount of buttercream. Some of our guests even took down the information on the bakery. I was out for a walk on an unseasonably warm day while visiting from out-of-state and had ice cream on the mind. I only got gelato here, so I can't speak for anything else. I was a bit confused when I walked in because the gelato is in a separate room from the rest of the bakery/checkout and there was no staff in that room. I spent some time looking at flavors and before I could go ask how in the heck I order another couple came in so I just stood back and watched them (typical introvert strategy there...it gave me more time to mull over flavors, too). I was going to get the medium (the small is REALLY small) but then I thought the medium container looked pretty small, too, so I got the large for a $1 more ($6). Well...they fill it about twice as high as the actual container! I underestimated that. However, I did manage to eat it all. I have a rule of not trying flavors ahead of time unless it's something absolutely crazy, so I made my difficult choice and went 1/2 banana and 1/2 chocolate. I thought the flavors were really good. The chocolate was dark, rich, and creamy, and the banana tasted like real bananas (banana flavoring is so very different). I thoroughly enjoyed my gelato while walking through the neighborhood. I had ordered a cannoli birthday cake from there and it was delicious. When I went to pick it up, I bought a few of the other treats to try, like a small panzerotti, doughnut and almond/cherry cookies. The panzerotti was great. (I think they call them "calzones," but my family called them panzerotti, and we called something else "calzones." But that's another story... Whatever anyone wants to call them, they're delicious! They have a selection of breakfast sandwiches, various Italian cookies & pastries, gelato, and you can order custom-made cakes too. A large coffee menu with anything you could want, as well as a comfortable seating area. The woman working there was helpful and friendly, and the bakery is very clean and inviting. It is just a great place! I came in from Glenview and I'll be back! By the way, it's very close to Superdawg, which is always a plus. My son goes to the karate spot down the block to it became an obsession before it even opened. Finally New Paradise opens with its big bright lights, and it did not disappoint. With a slew of sweet and savory pastries and gelato, there is truly something for everyone. Although we wanted to buy everything, we had to hold back a little bit and only got a few things. We bought the savory bread with bacon and cream cheese and arugula. It was divine. The bread was a perfect platform for all that bacon and cheese. I thought it was only on top, but no, it was all in the inside too. I also tried their chocolate cake and cream puffs as well and it is both adult and kid approved. They sell whole and slices of various cakes, arancini and cookies. Can't wait to also come back for the gelato.
