I ordered the cheddar penne and tomato soup. It was tasty but very rich. My husband enjoyed his bison ravioli. My youngest son enjoyed his steam broccoli and Mac n Cheese. Weird experience. I ordered online, so I can only speak to the quality of the food, the speed of the service, and the ambiance of the restaurant. My sisters and I were starving and, admittedly, hangry. We ordered online from here because it was the only place in town that had the capacity to take online orders. We got the chicken sandwich, a bahn mi, and a 2-for-1 of the cheesy pasta and panini. Our estimated pickup time was 6:40, 20 minutes after we ordered. For such simple items, and food I'm relatively confident was pre-made anyway, 20 mins to prepare it should've been no big deal. Well, my sister and I got there around 6:37 and were told we needed to wait about 5 more minutes. No big deal, they were kind of busy. But 5 minutes turned into 15 and nobody notified us that there would be an additional wait. In my sister's words, they were "positively lethargic" in getting us our food. We weren't offered waters, we weren't updated on when our food would be ready, but we were watched by the people behind the registers. We got our food almost 20 minutes after our projected pickup time and took it home to eat. The bahn mi was pretty good, as was the chicken sandwich and the panini, but the cheesy pasta was odd and lacked in flavor. It would probably make a better kids' meal item. The good news, though, was that it was warm when we received it. All in all, the experience wasn't terrible. The restaurant had a cool, laid back vibe, and boasts both indoor and outdoor seating. The service, however, leaves something to be desired. (Note: I'm normally not such a stickler about wait times but, upon submitting my order, I received what I would consider a passive aggressive note to my inbox about being at the restaurant promptly at 6:40. If promptness is a standard you expect out of your guests, you should hold yourself to the same degree.) I'd maybe go again, but I'd certainly eat inside and not order pickup. read more

Everything about this place was great for us. We both had the trout with mixed roasted veggies. The trout was fresh, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The roasted veggies had a light vinaigrette on them and roasted just right. It was a perfect meal for the evening. The service was great and the Ambiance was really nice and chill. We ate outside and it was very relaxing. We liked how you order first and then pick your seat. All your drinks and food are brought to you . Simple Eatery was a great spot for a group of six. Their outdoor patio with plenty of room and cornhole was a blast for an after dinner activity. I ordered a half/half of Steak Stroganoff and Caesar salad. The stroganoff was unique, but enjoyable. As the Caesar dressing was served on the side it was hard to get the greens tossed, so I'd prefer to have it in a bowl to make it a tad easier to mix up and make the plate less crowded. We Got two burgers last Friday evening, I made it clear that I wanted mine medium well. The choices of sides for a burger are poor, fries are not an option! It's soup, honey mustard slaw, steamed broccoli or potato chips. I asked for soup, nope, they were out. I opted for chips because the others don't go well with a burger. There were 7 empty tables outside but ALL dirty, so we had to ask and wait. Of all seven she clears one closest to the corn hole game where people are playing right next to us. Food came, my well done burger is pink. The chips sucked. Waitress never came back and we didn't have any ketchup. For $16 a burger, it wasn't worth it. It's a shop slash food spot but when we were here in the night 8PM, it was restaurant only. We took a long time to decide our order but people at the reception were so patiently waiting and suggestive. Everyone in this place greeted us with a smile. No complaints for customer service. They followed all the covid guidelines. Restrooms are clean. Sandwich and soup was super good. After hiking for miles, this was well deserved dinner for us. I would highly recommend the sandwich. Penne was amazing as well. Do not get cheddar broccoli with penne as both will taste the same. Penne by itself is amazing and doesn't need anything on the side. You take your "no seating before ordering" policy way too seriously. Making a mother and three children move from our table and stand until my husband was done ordering is the most unfriendly move I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Because my husband was just at the front of the line but not "actively ordering at the register", we were kicked out of our table. Had a nice experience dining here the weekend of paddle fest. Stopped by here since other places had a long wait and glad we did! One thing I would change is the ordering system. This is a lunch review. This is a counter service place that converts to a full service place once you sit down. There is also a cool store sort of attached to it that you should walk through and try not to buy anything. Good luck. Very popular place. They have a you-choose-two option, and I got the special of the day (shrimp scampi) and the chicken and Swiss sandwich. They were both solid. If I could go back in time, I think I would have gotten the bison ravioli. It sounded good, although I know that is hypothetical in a review. You should do it though. Got a feeling. Anyway, staff was friendly, food was good, experience was optimal. I feel like, during our trip, they got stuck understaffed during Billy Strings and the 14er event in town. It is counter service, so there was a LONG line, and the kitchen was backed up. Don't hold that against them as A) that means they are popular and B) and I probably just hit an understaffed day. I have to do the 4 for my one stop, but will stop back in when in town to try it again so we can pump it up to a 5. Sorry, I was so hungry that I forgot to take my standard pics of the food. They had a selection of sandwiches, pasta, soup and more. I ordered a salad and the carrot soup with a hummus appetizer. My friend got some broccoli and cheddar soup with a sandwich. The hummus appetizer was really good. It came out with corn chips, veggie and then pitas. The carrot soup was really actually divine. SO GOOD! i wished i had ordered the larger size. the salad was perfect. If you are concerned about covid - staff was masked, they did a good job with social distancing and santizing. The staff was very friendly and courteous. You order at the cashier and then they bring the food out to you. They prepared the food quickly and we had it in what felt like no time. OH. MY. GOSH!!! This is the best chicken salad sandwich on the planet. My wife and I came into Simple Eatery to get a quick bite to fill the gap between a late breakfast and dinner so we wanted to eat light. The long line of people waiting to order was a good sign and we split the aforementioned sandwich and paired it with a Coconut Carrot soup (wife's choice) and a Caesar salad and an IPA for me. One bite of the sandwich had us both looking at each other in amazement. The bread is a rosemary cheddar that quite literally melts in your mouth. We had stopped in to check the place out in the morning and the shelves were full of baked goods. At 3 pm there wasn't a crumb left and now we know why. The chicken salad featured large, tender chunks of white meat chicken, almonds, celery, golden raisins and what appeared to be a mayo based sauce that complemented the other tastes without overpowering them. We only have a day left in BV before returning to Texas and we are already scheming how to get the bread and chicken salad home with us. We added a brownie because it was the only dessert left in the display and one bite showed why. Best brownie I've ever had and I considered myself a bit of a brownie connoisseur. Crisp on the edges, gooey in the middle and bursting with rich chocolatey flavor. It has some white chocolate chips sprinkled in for good measure and they pair perfectly with the dark chocolate. The soup sounded odd to me but it was also amazing. Creamy and packed with intricate flavors that work well together, it was reminiscent of some of the delicious soups you can find in better Thai restaurants. Another winner! The Caesar is made from scratch and was the only thing we had that didn't wow us. In our opinion it would benefit from more anchovy, lemon and a better flavored crouton. It is also not a large portion for the price. Who knows, though, maybe it was just diminished by the epic flavors of everything else. Bring one of these to Dallas! Please...? read more

Drove into the Buena Vista area to find a hike and decided to eat an early lunch first. Yelp to the rescue! This was a good find! We both got the spinach salads with chicken. We waited to order because there was no place to sit, then the waitress told us to sit at an open table but then made us move because there was another couple that had already ordered.
