Is it crazy to want to move somewhere just for the smoothies? I've been meaning to write this review since my recent trip to LA because I visited Harvest three times while I was out there, and I think I fell in love. I created my own smoothies instead of ordering one off the menu, and the staff was super nice about how particular I was about measurements. It made being away from my Vitamix at home a little easier. I ask a lot of questions at places like these about ingredients and processes, and usually I prepare myself for disappointment while silently begging to be impressed. And this place impressed me! The produce is organic and locally sourced. You can choose a smoothie base of either coconut water or almond milk, both made in-house each day. The coconut water is cold pressed daily from organic coconuts and the almond milk is made from soaked, raw almonds and filtered water (reverse osmosis) with an eye toward alkalinity. I think my eyes watered a little when I heard that--tears of joy, people! I couldn't do it better/cleaner myself at home, and as someone into clean eating and as a result making 95% of everything I eat from scratch (despite how lazy I desire to be in the kitchen), that's the best endorsement I can give a place. The only maybe-cons I could think of didn't really bother me: 1) it's very minimalist inside, not exactly cozy, and not a place I'd go with a big group to hang, but I took my smoothies and went outside to soak up every drop of sunshine after my Siberian-esque winter back home and 2) it's on the pricier side, but then, so is LA. And I'm more than happy to pay higher prices for cleaner food, optimally prepared. My kingdom for not having to do the work myself and all that. read more

This place had great boba and great service! The bobaloca milk tea was nice and rich, kind of like Cantonese milk tea, and the boba was perfectly chewy and sweet. The girl who took our order was also really friendly and offered us a sample of the milk tea before we paid, in case we wanted to change our minds (we didn't). It's cheaper at Jamba Juice and that place is expensive! At that price, at least I would have gotten a large, some kind of protein powder, and some more interesting flavors. I arrived again maybe 5 minutes after opening and to my surprise it wasn't open for business . I mean maybe open later? So no one has to be waiting for you guys to open. This isn't the best boba place I've been to, but great compared to other boba places locally and more authentic! It's a little pricier than some places, but the boba is always chewy. Lots of different options and you can customize your drink. Lots of fresh ingredients, but ask for less ice because sometimes it gets watered down. The fruit teas have bits of fruit which add more freshness! There's a lot of tables and seats (one long table for getting boba with a big group) and games to play with. Andrew was super kind and brought the boba straight to me when there were fewer customers in the store and Minju was very helpful with helping with a drink choice. Passing it on the way to the Farmer's Market, the intoxicating fragrance wafting out of Harvest brought me in. The $8 price tag is not cheap but you do get what you pay for. All local, organic, and raw, the Liquid Gold knocked my socks off. read more

What I love most about Harvest Juice is its location. La Crescenta hasn't had the best juice places, and I have always lamented the distance to the nearest Jamba Juice or Robeks. So for Harvest to open up right near Honolulu is perfect for me. I have tried a few of the smoothies, but my favorite is always the Green Colada. I'm a sucker for anything that's sweet and secretly hides healthy vegetables. I like to add blueberries to this just to add more antioxidants and the flavor of the blueberries are so mild that it barely impacts the taste at all. I just wish that the drinks weren't the cost of a meal. $7-8 is a lot, but I suppose it's average for a juice place, and it's more convenient than buying the ingredients and making it myself. So I will continue to frequent this place, but only when I need a healthy splurge. read more

I was shocked when I saw the bag of Ocean Spray cranberries come out when they were making our smoothies. Did I just pay $9 dollars and get high fructose corn syrup in my smoothie?! Huge disappointment to go into a boba place only to be told they're out of boba. They said, "Sorry, but we didn't expect a rush today." That's it? You weren't prepared to sell your product to a lot of people? Does Kentucky Fried Chicken run out of Chicken? Does Papa John's Pizza run out of pizza? They at least should have given me a reason to go back: coupons, a discount, a substitute. Instead, they told me they could substitute another kind of boba (bubbling, bouncing, bursting?) AT AN ADDITIONAL COST! They run out of boba and would make me pay for the substitute? Anyway, the peach-kiwi smoothie I ordered was too tart, like unripe peaches and kiwis. I guess I have to wait for my next boba fix until I can get to Boba Time in K-Town. I wanted something cold, fruity and creamy and found it at Boba Loca. The strawberry banana smoothie was perfect and had just the right amount of boba. The service is very, very friendly, but seems just a tiny bit slow. When I stuck the straw into the sealed-on lid, the lid split in half. Those things were minor compared to the satisfaction I got from my drink. Great place for a healthy lunch or snack! I had the Grind raw smoothie and it totally took the place of a meal. It was filled with yummy stuff and I loved the little date pieces in it. A lot of fresh juice and brewed-tea options. The fresh juices are are on the pricier side, but at least the option is available for those not wanting the powder/syrup based drinks. The best part is you can request drinks to be made less-sweet - 50% sweetened, 25% sweetened. We ordered a 50% sweetened honeydew slush with boba and 25% sweetened passion fruit green tea with boba. This place is convenient - considering it's one of the only boba places in the area but it isn't consistent with it's quality. The smoothies are extremely runny and on a few occasions the boba in my milk tea hasn't been chewy, it's been rock hard. The service is also extremely slow - unless you go in before closing, expect to wait a while for your drink. Overall it isn't a horrible place but it isn't my top 10 of boba places either. They have a large selection of beverages to choose from which is great. But I'm coming here mainly for the convenience aspect. read more
