My significant other and I enjoy living simply... no nonsense, so my significant other chose to buy our flooring at SimpleFLOORS due to its name (and its good reviews on Yelp)! According to their website, they are focused on premium-grade collections of hardwood, bamboo, cork, and laminate flooring at competitive prices. All about quality, selection, value, and service. At the time of the visit in August 2016, Tom was the person that helped us. Helpful but a little rough around the edges; just the way we like it. My significant other and I went into the store knowing exactly what type of flooring we wanted, so all we needed to do was find the material and figure out the pricing. After looking around the store for about 30 minutes, we found exactly what we wanted and then went to 2 other stores on Miramar Road to do a price comparison for the same flooring material. About an hour and a half later, we ended back at SimpleFLOORS due to the lowest price offered. We then proceeded to schedule an appointment with Tom for him to come and measure the square footage in the apartment (in order to purchase the flooring material). We also asked him to provide 2 quotes (1 with installation costs and 1 without installation costs). At the end, we purchased the material through SimpleFLOORS but did not use their installation services, so I can't comment on their installation services. We used an independent contractor that my significant other's dad knew. Overall, my significant other and I are very happy. The flooring we chose is beautiful, well made (in terms of quality), and lowest in price when compared to 2 other stores on Miramar Road. The flooring we purchased was Eternity Floors - Frontier Collection - Whiskey Sapele color. (I like anything with alcohol name in it!!) Beautiful color and perfect for us due to its durability, since we have a very strong dog (PitBull) that scratched up our real hardwood floors in our last home in New York City. We went to small claims court over our flooring issue. We won. They took the longest time to return is our money per the legal contract. It arrived on the last day before they would have action taken against them by the court. We now have our new floors in, purchased from another company. Who knew the process should be as easy as it was with someone else! Do your due diligence before making a purchase here. Make sure everything is written on the contract, EVERYTHING. This way you'll know they are responsible for what they do when you make your purchase. Ask questions about the installation and who it is doing the work. Whether the store insures their work or if they are independent contractors. If they're independent, make darn sure you've got a contract with them too. Good luck simple floors. read more

I cannot recommend this place. Take your business elsewhere. I echo the sentiments of Jim C. Claude does not stand behind the work of the contractors he hires at all. I had bamboo floors installed. No moisture barrier was placed- I did not know this at the time. The flooring throughout the entire downstairs was cupping. And subsequently, the floor has pulled entirely away from the cement slab so I have "hills" in my bedroom flooring. Claude sent someone out who acknowledged the defects, but he has been unwilling to correct these problems. I will be removing the entire floor myself and laying down hardwood- not purchased at SimpleFloors. read more

I suggest taking samples home and looking at them in different lighting over a day or two. Make sure they match current cabinets, furniture and paint. Ordering online can add more time, but it less expensive. Half the price of our other place (per square foot). Would use them again. read more

I wanted to start this review by saying that the end result was good. We got the natural strand woven bamboo flooring we wanted and it's been a few months now and we love it. However, the process to reach the end result was pretty bad, hence the 3 stars. We bought a house 90 miles away from this location and even though there's a simpleFLOORS store in Orange, we came here because my in-laws had a great experience with them. We came in and Tom helped us. Our invoice showed the correct flooring but when Tom put the order into the computer, he had to use the SKU for carbonized bamboo because the one for ours wasn't showing up (we wanted the new 5 inch width that wasn't coming out for another month) but he assured us that he would go back to change the order when the SKU was available. Tom also told us that the flooring would be delivered on a Wednesday and that we would get a call on the Thursday before to confirm the delivery. On the Tuesday before the delivery date, we still hadn't gotten a call from them so we called to ask if it would still be delivered the next day. Tom said that we didn't confirm the delivery but we told him that no one ever called us. He apologized and said it would be delivered the following week. It wasn't a problem and it was delivered the following week. That night we brought in a few of the 50 pound boxes into the house from the garage and decided to open 1 up just to make sure it was right. We open the box and there's the carbonized bamboo (the SKU he used to put in our order until the natural bamboo in 5 inch width was available). We end up opening another 2 boxes just to make sure that they were all wrong instead of just that 1 box, and they were all wrong. We call Tom and after asking us to make sure we didn't order the carbonized, he apologizes and made arrangements for the carbonized bamboo to be picked up. He asked if we could wait until the following week for the natural bamboo to be shipped to us because getting a truck to deliver it when it's not on their usual once a week schedule would be very expensive for them. We agreed that was fine and he told us "dinner's on me" and said he would send us a gift card. When the flooring arrived, it finally was the right one. But, that gift card he promised us never came. I don't care that we didn't get a gift card because in the end, we got what we wanted and we're very happy with our flooring. I am, however, annoyed at the fact that he said he would send one but never did. When we order the same flooring for the other half of our house, we will NOT be going through them. read more

If I could give a negative stars I would. Let me start off by saying. I was really please they were very attentive, and helpful when we went in the store. We were the only people there so I guess they would be attentive. I picked out some flooring I really liked, and asked for a price quote. So we sit down give her the info, and were amazed at the price. I am sitting with my hubby telling the girl I need 693 sq feet. She prints up the quote, wow I said this sure is cheap. I should have known better. When I finally get in the car to look over at the price quote the chick wrote 295 sq feet of course that is why it's so stinking cheap. She wrote the wrong numbers. My bad for not looking at the paper right on the spot. :( I call back immediately when we were down the street. No answer left a message. Called again. NO one answered. Called the next day and left a message again. NO answer. Worse service. Please at least pick up the phone. So I can tell you, you lost my business. read more

If only I would've gone to yelp to see these reviews I would be saved 8k. Lesson learned. So I bought a home from a lovely investor. She had carpet in three rooms and I wanted to replace it with the flooring in the rest of the house. The investor and myself are both out of town so the investor called Leore at simple floors to ask her to pull up the flooring and get an estimate ready. I have texts from Leore sending the investor a photo of the new floors to confirm and the investor said "they look like it but I'm not sure from a photo- can you make sure they match the previous invoice" in which Leore responded "I'm sure they are the same". My installer picked up and installed them. Mind you they were painting so our original floors were covered- he is also to blame here cause he said the difference looked to be an issue with lot numbers. And he installed the floors. I get to my new house, completely different floors. Now, I did tell my installer he was wrong for not really making sure BUT this all started with assurance from Leore that these were the right floors. Needles to say, the way Leore spoke to me was horrific. Constantly cutting me off, saying they don't take responsibility. I don't expect them to return floors installed, all I wanted was some accountability they made a huge error. Floors are cheap if you are looking to save, but you get what you pay for. 2 - 5 % of the boards are warped, or de-laminating. Make sure you factor that in when ordering. Also the wood is coming from china and dirt cheap, its not worth more than 3$ / sq ft. Replacing individual boards will be hassle with their customer service so don't attempt it. They messed up my stair nosings order (from another company not from them, so expect the stain and finish to be different) the stain was not even close. After a second order, they had it delivered to a wrong address. After spending months waiting for these to finish my floors, there was no compensation. Unprofessional and crappy service. Don't waste your time or money. read more

They installed my high end wooden floors. Two years later, they are bucked from poor installation. The boys Tom and Claude Moise (listed as owner & District Manager) at Simple floors sent their installer out to see them. After they, they won't return calls. AKA: they do not stand behind their work. Now after multiple calls, emails, photos, videos sent to them, I am forced to go to court. We have been looking for a distressed mocha engineered hardwood for about a year now. We have been in and out of Simple Floors for months, not quite ready to commit to the project. Tom Reiner was always there, and so helpful and informative. We had shopped everywhere, and nobody beats Simple Floors prices. But the negative reviews we have read made us leery of purchasing from Simple Floors. We expressed this concern to Tom. He told us that many of the problems people had were customer service issues with the corporate offices and the delivery company, but that has changed when Claude Moise purchased the Miramar store, and now all customer concerns are handled by them. It looks like it is just Tom and Claude now. Claude is the nicest guy, who you can tell is working very hard to make his store a success. They also have a new delivery company. We went ahead and ordered 800 sq feet of the Hand-Scraped :: Heritage Woodcraft :: Vintage Millworks :: Cappuccino (Maple) - 47-5/8 x 4-9/10 x 9/16 (1210 x 125 x 14/2MM). and the 3 in 1 glue to go with it. The delivery company was the greatest. We live in a very hard to access condo, and those boys hauled all 31 cases of that flooring right to my door step. They called the day before to confirm delivery, and called an hour before arriving at 9am. I can't say enough good things about the delivery. The flooring is great quality. Not a bad piece in any of the boxes. All tongue and groves where perfect, and went together nice and tight. The 3 in 1 glue went down easy and after 12 hours the boards were not going anywhere. We are so happy with our purchase and the service we received from Claude and Tom, we had to write a review to tell everyone that the old reviews no longer apply. Visited Simply Floors today on Miramar road to collect information on hardwood flooring and were so surprised by a very poor customer service at SimplyFloors. The card says Thomas and so i believe that was the person who we spoke to. - Very bad attitude and not helpful at all in answering genuine questions from potential customer. - The material kept in the store does not have any details (Ratings, thickness, warranty, material, etc). Visited some other stores in the same area and all the shops had clear stickers on top of each displayed wood with the details. Looked really shady at SimplyFloors to not put required basic information on the material. Visit to the 2 other stores in the same area were very pleasant. Sales process was great and delivery was as promised. Purchased Laminate product with foam backing already attached and installed over the top of tile floor. I purchased over 800 sqare feet or 43 boxes. First negative was 65% of each board was in only 2 patterns making patern matching difficult. Second negative is The product chipped at edges too easily during and after installation. I need to look into some type of repair I guess. Substrate material is green and chips are very noticeable. Don't care for transition moldings as they are made to fit into a plastic mounting strip that is almost impossible to fasten to cement substrate--might be okay on wood. Another negative I did not anticipate was we purchased a product with a ruff surface thinking it was more authentic--this is very difficult to clean and we wish we would have gone with a smooth surface. In short I think the quality of the product needs improvement and would pay more for better quality. I also made a mistake installing over the tile and wish I would have removed it--this was not Simple Floors but my mistake. It does look pretty good. Bill F. read more

Stay away from these con artists at all costs. We picked up two buckets of glue to lay down some hardwood flooring. Their head salesman, Thomas, made a point of placing the buckets into our trunk himself. Had one of us carried the buckets ourselves, we would have immediately known that a scam was afoot. Instead, it was only as we entered our house that we noticed one of the buckets was TEN POUNDS LIGHTER than the other. There was absolutely no possible way any glue could have left the bucket from the time we left to the time we discovered the discrepancy. We left the bucket unopened so we could return it. We called them on the phone and politely informed them of the problem. Instead of being apologetic and giving us a full bucket like they should have, they accused us of lying. We then went down to the store ourselves and discussed the problem. Things quickly got explosive as these men, who are either delusional morons or criminals, were so brazen as to claim they had video evidence that we were lying (which video evidence they never actually bothered to show us) and trying to scam them. For over an hour, we attempted to convince them of our honesty, but these cheats refused even to acknowledge the problem. They successfully robbed us. Let me emphasize once more that there is literally no way the bucket was any emptier at our house than when it left the store. These guys lied through their teeth and they knew it. Stay away from these losers like the plague. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau to investigate these thieving assholes. read more

My relationship with Simple Floors goes back 8 years. When I first visited the store, the product I purchased was not the quality I wanted, and the store ownership didn't stand behind it. Ultimately, after my complaints went unanswered, I let the matter drop. Recently, though, I received a very nice email from the new owner. He wanted to make sure I knew he took customer service and satisfaction very seriously, and actually made good on the warranty that had been ignored by the previous management. I am extremely impressed at the integrity it took for him to honor a warranty that had long since been forgotten by the consumer. They have also upgraded the quality of the flooring they carry. I was informed that as soon as the new ownership took over, they eliminated the vendor who had been providing the bamboo floors I had purchased originally- the one that had peeled, delaminated, and cupped within two years of installation. When I went into the store they were extremely helpful but not overly pushy as some salespersons can be, overall very pleased with the sales process. The prices was unbeatable! I've had the floors installed for about 2 months and so far so good... they have held up very well through moving in and the dogs running around (although I did get laminate so they are very durable). We had an excellent experience with Simple Floors. Apparently the bad reviews on here were from BEFORE the new owner ship. We stumbled upon the showroom since they were one of the few tile places open on a Saturday afternoon when we were driving by. We are so glad we did. Thomas welcomed us warmly and pointed us to what we were looking for. He was very nice, a non-pressure type of salesman, and accommodating. He even went above and beyond by offering to drop by our place (not far) with the sample, since they didn't have one to give or loan out of that particular tile, and wait in his car while we looked at it in our home. We took him up on it (twice) and there was never pressure dealing with him and our order. He was very patient in waiting on us to get information back to him to place the order and was very prompt with his communications and getting things done. Very professional, kind, efficient, and no pressure. Thomas takes pride in his work and customer satisfaction with a smile on his face. I agree with the others below. 0 stars would be a gift to this company. The flooring quality is cheap Chinese run of the mill garbage. I bought flooring at Costco and it is 100 times better for about the same price. they put the wrong color flooring in my car when i purchased it. I didn't know it was the wrong color because you couldn't see inside the sealed box and there was no indication of color. I got home and unloaded 15 boxes to the 2nd floor. I opened the first box and it was completely the wrong color. I hauled it all back and they said i couldn't return the open one because they don't take back opened flooring boxes! NO JOKE! I AM NOT KIDDING! I spent at least an hour on their showroom floor on the phone with the corporate office in San Francisco. The 3 people working there obviously had no common sense that if they loaded it into my car and then didn't check the color then it is not my fault. Luckily, a girl who was working there had came back form a lunch break and I explained it to her and she, unlike the others, was from Earth and understood. We spent another 15 minutes on the phone with corporate to get an approval to return the wrong merchandise. If you are considering their floors for the low price, remember you get what you pay for. My wife and I shopped many different places for flooring, we were helped by Thomas at simple flooring who was extremely knowledgable and helped us find what we were looking for easily. I am big on customer service and his is top notch, he kept me in the loop on the whole process and I never once was left in the dark. The installation lead (Michael Machay) and his crew JB and John we very friendly and hard working, I did not have power at the time they came to install and they had to use my generator to get the job done, even so they finished quickly and efficiently and the floor turned out amazing, we get tons of compliments. My husband and I recently purchased a new home and wanted to replace the carpeting with wood flooring. Simple Floors was one of the first places we stopped in. Tom Reiner was very knowledgable, friendly, attentive, but not pushy or condescending. I liked the way the flooring is displayed and that it was not crowded and overwhelming with selections. After visits to other stores and price comparison, we came back to Simple Floors. Tom answered questions from us and our installer, provided several selections within our budget and was readily available to assist us with the final selection and process to purchase. The only problem was with Customer Service. A couple of pieces were delivered damaged. It took several phone calls to get an an accurate answer about getting replacement pieces shipped. I was happy to find this place I got the impression the owner cared about his business. He does his own measurements etc. I handled everything from consult, to scheduling to payment etc. the workers he uses suck. No one called me to say when they were going to show up, than the 5 days it took them, they showed up at odd hours, like 11am or later, than would sometimes stay until after 7, which was super stressful with two small kids who sleep around 7. I try to communicate some type of schedule, also told them that I don't like leaving my house unlocked for hours until they show, dropping my son of at school etc. the owner.. He never called me again, see how the work was coming along. Didn't call after to check my satisfaction. The crew seemed sexist and only really respected my husband. As far as the work, could have been better. They used a piece of damaged wood, right in the most obvious area. I had them redo the base boards, they were cut wrong.. They don't grout the tile under the fridge, my husband happened to notice and we had them do that. The transition from wood to tile was absolutely horrible, so they did that over. I tried contacting the owner, he didn't respond, only when my husband called or walking into the store did he have anything to say. Anyway, I'm very disappointed with this business. read more

About 7 years ago my wife and I completed a large remodel on our home in Rancho Bernardo. Part of that project was to install hardwood flooring. After diligently shopping around checking references, BBB, etc. we selected Simple Floors. The work they performed was exemplary and the product looked as beautiful after 7 years as it did the first week we installed it. Now some 7 years later we sold that home and purchased another. The first call we made was to Simple Floors to see if they had the same product (SKU) we originally installed. Sure enough they did and after shopping around a bit we selected the very same product we installed 7 years ago in our last house. We also ordered 5" baseboards for the entire house. We worked with Tom at Simple Floors who was a genuine pro and a pleasure to work with. Responsive. Knowledgeable, and downright likeable. Tom assigned Mike M. and his crew to do the install. Upon removal of the carpet we discovered that the underlying concrete slab was raised about 3/4" in the NW corner of the living room in an area about 5' x 10'. Mike and his crew tackled the difficult area, which required two solid days of concrete grinding. When they were done it was perfectly flat, smooth as a baby's bottom and made for a flawless floor install. My wife and I could not be more delighted at the professionalism, extraordinary workmanship and the attention to the fine details displayed by Mike, John and JP. These guys are craftsmen in every sense of the word! When they were finished, they cleaned both the inside and the patio area (where they had been cutting) and hauled out every last scrap of wood and debris. The floor and baseboards are phenomenal. I cannot stress enough how delighted we are with the entire experience! I gave Tom permission to use me as a reference if he desired to do so. Thank you guys! read more

Purchased wide plank, hand scraped solid wood, dark stained floors. Looked around at many different flooring stores in the area and these were a 1/3 of the price compared to other stores, The sales man Tom Reiner went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy and satisfied with my purchase. Was not happy with the color of the transitions - so he purchase and had his installers custom stain them to my specification. Was sceptical about using them because of the negative yelp reviews - even voiced that to Tom. He assured me that they were doing there best to change that and work on resolving any previous issues. I would not give this business any stars. Initial contact went well, then the journey to hell began. Installer was due to be at our home at 8:00 am to measure, he called and rescheduled. He then shows up and his estimate was WAY OFF THE MARK, according to his measurements we needed approximately $274.00+ more product, which they billed to the credit card WITHOUT OUR AUTHORIZATION. Installer was suppose to be here Friday to rip out carpet, he calls and says he will have his entire crew here at 8:00 Saturday morning. 9:15 Saturday no crew. We call and are told "we can not get the flooring, we called you yesterday (THEY HAD NOT CALLED)". We are then told we can come in and get a new product or they will refund the money. My husband drives there and signs for what he believed was a refund, then on the way home he is phoned by Tom to be told "I made a mistake, and we charged your card again vs crediting the initial amount". We called the credit card company and are turning it over to them. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS, unless you are looking to live the nightmare we did. Companies like this give small business owners a bad name. Big Box store here we come. read more

Our wood floors project for our living room and hallway (about 500 square feet) was easy from beginning to end. Jeremy came out to our home at a time that was convenience on my end, took measurements, described the process and told us he would have an estimate by the next day, which he did. The price was fair and we scheduled the install for about a week later. The contractor, J. Finity Floors arrived as scheduled, and did excellent work. The two installers, Jesse and Jeremy were very professional, friendly, and efficient. They did a great job and were very detail oriented.
