Solid five stars…read more My mother's 2005 Mazda had to have a transmission replaced one year ago. Took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't get the parts and couldn't do the work. I called around to 5 or 6 shops, (including several Aamcos), claiming to specialize in transmissions and got pretty much the same story. But I'm stubborn. And then I called Mr Kirby. He says "Sure, bring it in" or something to that effect. She got it back a week later with an 18 month/18,000 mile warranty. A couple of weeks later her warning light came on. It was driving ok so we took it back to Mr Kirby. One of the new parts had a crack in it so he repaired it completely under warranty. All's well that ends well. Fast forward a year and the warning light comes on again, and this time it wasn't really drivable so we have it towed back to the South Loop. (Thank you AAA) Again, a crack in one of the replacement parts. Again, fixed completely under warranty. Now, I know that's Aamco's warranty policy and not Mr. Kirby's. So while I'm technically reviewing AAMCO-South Loop, it's Mr Kirby that makes this location special. He's personable and professional and "Is a man of his word". What more can you ask of an auto shop? Lastly, I suspect, but don't know, that's it's the unreliability of the after market Chinese made parts that forced me to make so many phone calls to find a shop willing to do the work. If you ever need transmission work, (Heaven forbid!), go see Mr Kirby. He's a good guy.

The assessment took about 30 minutes and they called with their findings, recommendations and quotes. I had previously priced out the service so the quote I received for brake pads and new rotors was very reasonable and well within a reasonable price range for my car. I checked when I got home and they had lowered my tire pressure from 50psi down to 32. They did that on two different occasions. I had trailer tires mounted and balanced. Most of the stick on weights flew off. I won't trust them with my vehicle now. I even go elsewhere for the emissions test.

Once done, I jumped out my vehicle to collapse my side mirrors and into a line I went. It was a Saturday afternoon, and despite being probably 10 cars deep, the line went quickly. Wash was thorough and not too loud. I've gone through some really loud express washes before, and it almost sounded like gunshots hitting your car. Not the case at Ocean. Once you pull out, there are two attendants waiting to dry your car off. They're quick and left my car spotless.
