Simply Beauty gave me an eyebrow wax which resulted in injury. I went to Simply Beauty for an eye brow wax, a procedure I have had done at their premises on multiple occasions. It was quite painful, but the technician assured me everything was fine.When I got home I noticed quite a large burn mark on my skin where they had applied the wax. It has been over 10 days now and this mark has not gone away. It is on my face, it is very noticeable, and since it is a burn (dark purple), I am unable to conceal it. I emailed Simply Beauty telling them what happened. Initially they tried to gaslight me, saying that it was just an allergic reaction and was somehow my fault. I made it really clear that this was not an allergic reaction, it was only localised to one specific place, and I have had many eyebrow waxes in the past with no issue. They then didn't reply to me for many days, and then came back offering me a complimentary eyebrow wax. No apology. No disciplinary action for the staff member. No refund. I would never recommend this place. They are dangerous. read more

Great prices first off! When I first started coming for threading I was an addict to tweezing and waxing. Years of that left me with ingrown hairs, discoloration and scarring. I started threading and trusted the ladies here when they told me to throw away the tweezers and keep up with threading. Now, my hair is SO much finer, no more ingrown, discoloration is GONE. This place is amazing! I always go in to get my eyebrows threaded and my lip waxed and i usually ask for Dipika. She's so sweet, and makes sure I leave out of there with clean, flawless eyebrows! Super clean place located in the Meijer grocery store and it is super affordable unlike other "higher end" places. They always have good deals going on for all types of services! I was at Meijer when I noticed this place. There were a bunch of coupons placed outside the store for their grand opening, so naturally I grabbed a bunch. I came back a week later for an eyebrow and upper lip threading for $8 with the coupon (regularly $10), which I thought was really cheap. She did a thorough job and was fairly nice. I also liked that she didn't complain when I didn't have cash and needed to use my card - some people make a big stink about that. Super convenient if you're in here getting groceries and definitely worth the price. It was way cheaper than most places, even without coupons. --- Update --- I'm changing my review from 5 stars to 4 because I came back for the second time today and this woman was working by herself. I got my eyebrows and upper lip threaded again, and I'm not sure if it's because she was in a rush, but this woman was not gentle. The threading really hurt and I actually bled, which I never do. Plus there were people waiting and this one customer got mad and left without paying because the employee had to take care of other customers' threading in the middle of the woman's pedicure. I feel bad that the employee was working by herself; I think this place just needs to get more/better staff. read more

I noticed this shop maybe a couple years ago as I checked out at Meijer (where it's located). I needed to get threaded and decided to try out this place simply because of the location and the reasonable price. They specialize in wax treatments and threading and that's all based on the customer's preference. They provide a privacy room for their wax treatments that are more than your lips and eyebrows. I get my lips and eyebrows threaded and they bring great shape to my eyebrows. Their accuracy is spot on. They also offer manicure and pedicure treatments. Do not come in for eyelash extensions. They use one length of eyelashes throughout the eye resulting in a very unnatural and unflattering look. My eyelashes were so heavy and uncomfortable, I couldn't fully open my eyes. The lashes laid flat and were completely clumped together. read more

I cannot write a review on the Elgin location that I went to since they aren't on Yelp, but this is the same chain and NO ONE should even consider going here for any type of body waxing. Shame on me for scheduling a full body wax for a 6pm time slot on a weekday. This place is NOT meant for appointments, it is constantly busy,there are constant walkins, and there are only two women working. It is located in Meier, smack dab in front of the check out lines. I found this place through a Groupon and when I called, they told me not to buy it and to just pay them when I got there because they would honor the price. I brought in a print out of the price it would have cost me with my 20% groupon discount, but they still charged me the full groupon price. The Elgin location is in the Meier on Randall, and the shop is right across from the checkout lines. Their waxing station is super unsanitary. I went into a "closet" right after a woman before me and the bed was COVERED in oil. They pulled some paper over it, but it only covered a middle strip of the bed. I spent at least an hour last night ripping out the chunks of hair that they missed all over my body. I have huge red marks all over my armpits. When I left, I was still covered in wax and even had chunks of the paper from the bed all over me. I am so disappointed in myself for going here and I can't believe I didn't do more research. The only plus is the women were extremely nice to me, but that's just not good enough because they were rushing, they didn't clean me up, and they didn't honor the price they said they would. read more

I was a skeptic the first time I went because of the other reviews, but I decided to give it a try because I need a place for eyebrow/lip threading that was conveniently located and inexpensive. I have been back every other week since! They do as well or better at sculpting my eyebrows compared to 3-4 other places I have been in surrounding suburbs and it's less expensive ($10 for upper lip and eyebrow). I have seen Purnjma the most and she is friendly and good at what she does. The only reason I didn't 5 star it is because it's nothing fancy and I haven't tried other services. VERY HORRIBLE SERVICE. They use way too much glue for the single eyelash extensions. They felt so heavy on my eyes. Also they don't do what I ask. I asked to just clean out my eyebrows and they completely ruined my shape of eyebrow. And I can't forget they burned my skin when waxing my upper lip. Definitely will not be going back. read more

Let me just say my usual lady works at a salon about 20-25 minutes away so I figured I hit the jackpot when I found a new place so close to home. So I've been here for eyebrow threading once before and loved the way my eyebrows came out so naturally I thought I could come a second time and get the same results. Joke was on me. I previously recommended a coworker to visit this place and her eyebrows came out great but after this experience I will not go back. There was only one girl working and judging by other reviews it seems like she might be the only employee there. I went in to get a few groceries and stopped by to get my eyebrows done real quick. The lady before me decided to get her entire face and neck threaded/waxed which I and a few other girls were patient enough to wait for. I'm not sure if the girl working felt overwhelmed because of how many were waiting to get their eyebrows done or what (3 were waiting including myself) but I eventually got the shit end of the stick. I watched as she paid careful attention while waxing and threading which put me at ease. Once she got the bearded lady out of the way there was one more girl before me getting her eyebrows threaded and lip waxed. I was finally next, keep in mind, it was 3 almost 4 on a Saturday and I guess this was the most business she had at once because when she got to me I sensed that she was in a rush. Giving her the benefit of the doubt I figured she would make my eyebrows look amazing like she did the first time. Before I knew it she was done and she handed me the mirror and I examined my eyebrows as she went on to thread the next girl. Instantly I saw my eyebrows did not match whatsoever. My heart sank to my butt and I couldn't believe how thin she had left my right eyebrow. I was in shock that both experiences had very drastic results. I'm not the type of person to complain or be rude or ask to see the manager so I just paid and got the hell out of there. What made me angry was that fact that she took her time and made an effort to wax that lady's entire face but when it came to me I paid $9 for inconsistency. Im very annoyed with what I ended up having to pay for. . With a job like that I would imagine you would be somewhat consistent and be cool under pressure especially if you're the only one working there. They should at least have another person working there to avoid situations like this. I'm willing to bet I would've had different results had the only employee been able to take her time. Overall, not happy and completely embarrassed to walk around knowing my eyebrows do not match. Here's to hoping my eyebrows grow back like weeds overnight but not like that's gonna happen. I had a no chip manicure on Saturday and 2 nails peeled by Monday. I went in Monday after work to get them fixed and they both (including 2 more) peeled today, a day later. I haven't had any threading done there, but I can tell from getting my nails done for years that they have no clue what they are doing when it comes to nails. WALK AWAY!!!!!!!!! Wish I could give them NO STARs! Please please please DO NOT GET ANYTHING DONE AT THIS PLACE!!!!! I needed my eyebrows done bad , and didn't want to drive 30 min to my regular lady, I was shopping and saw this place eyebrows and eyelashes for $19 !! Of course I said heck yea what a deal!!! BIG MISTAKE!!! I told the lady just clean my eyebrows keep my shape! I even showed her a picture of why my eyebrows usually look like!!! She said yes yes no problem, she was done in like 30 seconds and started in the eye lashes, my eyeS would not stop watering, and when she was done my eyes felt so heavy! She mounted on the glue!!! Boy oh boy when I got home I looked in the mirror and started crying!!!! My eye brows look horrible so THIN and NO SHAPE!!!! I wanted to go back over there to yell at them for ruining my face! But what would I gain, beside high blood pressure! I washed out those nasty eye lashes! And thank god for pencil eyebrow liner!
