Truthfully if I could, I would give this nail salon 0 stars. This place is unsanitary with horrendous customer service. My boyfriend and I went in for pedicures and I got a set of dip nails. The nails were so horribly done, I had to get them redone at another salon. I could go on and on on about the horrible design and botched paint job for my nails-BUT- what is more importsnt is the unsanitary work conditions that resulted in my boyfriend having the most disgusting infected toenail, that he had to go to urgent care to get taken care of. The pedicure resulted in an incredibly infected toenail that was pus filled and had to be drained, and part of the toenail had to be removed. He was also given antibiotics and told he has to come get the infected toenail checked out again in a week. I contacted the nail salon about this and requested a refund and they told me basically to get lost and if I wanted a refund to "call the police". DO NOT GO HERE. Absolutely the worst nail salon I have ever been to, only go here if you want to be treated terribly and leave with a horrible infection and an urgent care bill. read more

I went here with my friend to get a full set and my nails look absolutely horrible! The woman put too big of tips on my nails and my nails look so wide and big and hideous! The nails are crooked and bumpy and the paint job is mediocre at best. She was also extremely rough with me to the point where I had to pull my hand away because her digging into my fingers with her nail tips was so painful! I will NEVER go here again and will not recommend anyone to come here. Side note...not about me but when I was in there a girl came in wanting her nails fixed for a SECOND time after they were peeling and coming off after only a week of having them. The person that was handling the conversation with her was extremely rude and turned her away telling her they would not do another free fix on her nails. Not good customer service if you ask me! Yesterday I came in for a full set of eyelash extensions. It was my first time having them done but my mom has been coming to get them done for a few years now. I saw they had a groupon so I wanted to stop in since they are open on Sundays which is my only day off during the week. I came in at 10 AM and the owner wasn't in for another 15 minutes. It's not a huge deal, I know it happens. I work at a salon myself so I do have expectations on the quality of the service I receive. I was taken to a small room in the back and I explained what I was looking for in terms of my eyelash extensions. I spoke briefly about it on the phone but I don't believe she understood me. I wanted volume eyelashes, more dramatic. I had a photo of what I wanted- they were not strip lashes but the owner told me it would not look like that as the photo was of strip lashes (it was not). She said some people's lashes would not be strong enough. I'm not quite sure what that means as other places offer that service. Normally when you have eyelash extensions done I believe you would choose between lengths, the type of curl you would like (J, C, D, or B) and the style. I was given a choice of length. I wanted shorter lashes near my inner corner and longer going out. 11mm was too long for my inner corner and it looks unnatural. I had to trim it so it wouldn't poke my eye when I blink. Also 50 lashes is very sparse. Most places I have seen do at least 80 for their most natural lash set. While I was getting my lashes done the owner was on the phone the entire time. She answered probably 4 phone calls and stopped to reply to texts messages. I felt almost uncomfortable to try and make small talk. Working in the salon/customer service industry I felt that it was very unprofessional especially for a first time client. Before the service started she applied these gel eye patches on my lower lash line that made my eyes burn and water. I asked her to readjust them because I felt uncomfortable which she did but it still burned so bad. The burning and redness didn't go away for a few hours. At the end of the service I was told to return after two weeks which is very early. I know that eyelash extensions should last you at least 4-8 weeks. But I'm sure because of how sparse the lashes are if one was to fall out it would look very apparent. All in all I don't think I will be returning. I will just have to get them redone somewhere else. read more

VV Nails will always be my go-to because of the 6 minute walk and 2 minute drive needed for me however, I am starting to become less and less impressed the more I visit. I have been a regular (getting a acrylic fill and pedicure every 3-4 weeks) for a few years now. My experience in previous years has been pleasant - I am typically seated right away at a pedicure massage chair, the ladies have been accommodating and they get the job done. I don't receive any fancy treatment because I am continuously getting a solid nail color on both my hands and feet and choose to purchase the regular pedicure option. VV Nails just recently went through a total renovation and expansion and I feel that's where things started going downhill as far as service and quality. Nowadays, you MUST make a reservation and/or call ahead to get any sort of recognition or service right away (or relatively soon). I've made the mistake too many times now where I've had to literally sit for an hour and a half for someone to seat me somewhere. This is a bit strange considering they've EXPANDED. There are actually several seating options but not nearly enough employees. Because of the booming business and lack of staff, the welcome greetings have stopped, the communication isn't there and the work being done is severely rushed. One thing that has really irked me lately has been the confusion and lack of cooperation regarding service. It seems as though any time I ask to cut my nails shorter (after they decided what length to give me), not apply a top coat, etc. I get asked "Why?" or someone looks at me with disgust. I remain calm and respectful but the choice isn't THEIRS to decide what YOU want, right? Sadly, I would have most definitely given VV Nails 4-5 stars if the service remained the same (I can get over a little bit of a wait) but instead I have given it 3 stars only because the owners, Jason and Vivian are extremely nice people and do an excellent job even when there are 10+ customers waiting or being worked on. I'm not sure if they're in the process of hiring more staff or making it required for reservations but it seems no matter what kind of weather, what day of the week or what time of day, VV Nails is swamped. I will still remain a customer however, I will most definitely make sure to call ahead. read more

I visited here three times, all of which left me disappointed and more than slightly put off. The first time, I received a pedicure that was rushed and clumsily done. This was by the owner herself, which was surprising. I suspected she was very busy, so I came back, giving the salon the benefit of the doubt. The second time, I received their highly acclaimed "dipped nails." The color I chose was light pink, but this turned out as an obnoxious faded fushia on my nails that Jason never bothered to address. I also did not receive a hand massage, despite giving him a generous tip, and he sat there watching videos on his phone for 10 minutes while my nails dried. The third time, I made an appointment for noon. I was waiting almost 40 minutes before I was actually seen...why make an appointment, then? The technician, Angel, was friendly, but she did a poor job on my no-chip manicure. Getting a no-chip at a new place it always a bit of a gamble, and within two days, two of my nails already started chipping at the tips. She was probably my best interpersonal experience but lowest quality of nails. I think it is safe to say I gave the salon enough chances and will not be returning. I was going to call and talk to the manager but coming here only made me realize how much I love my nail place. I tried to tell this girl who was doing my nails that 3 of my nails were broken and needed to be taken off she didn't listen to today while shopping all three of those bails broke and to top it's all off, my real nail had green brown fungus on it! It's really annoying that you make an appointment a week ahead of time and they still don't honor it. I'm pretty sure the person who got helped ahead of me was just someone who comes in more often than me. But see below for how rude the manicurist was:/ Farewell "Hope to see you soon!"? No:( Things I know about customer service: THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT UNLESS THEY'RE CRAZY. This manicurist was a male and I tried to take into account that maybe he hates his job because it is definitely a female prominent industry but that doesn't matter anymore. In this setting, communication is key no matter how you have to get your point across, do it respectfully and keep the customer informed. Essentially, this man yelled at me and accused me of ruining of the freshly painted nails. Excuse me? Maybe the nail wouldn't be ruined if you hadn't yanked my arm to get it in the perfect position.. Now that it's clear the nail needs to be redone, he pushes the smudged polish 'back into place'.. I'm secretly fuming at this attempt and calmly ask for the nail to be repainted. What does he mumble to me? "I've done thousands of manicures.. it'll be fine." I went in for an appointment I scheduled for a no chip, pedicure, and eyebrow wax. Tech did my nails first even though I asked to have the pedicure done first. She informed me that it was a rainy day and I wasn't in a hurry- I told her I had things to do. She assured me my toenails would be dry fast after and I wouldn't have to wait for them to dry! As you can see her instant drying potion didn't work. Also, was given a sheet with 3 pedicure options while in the pedicure chair - $36 being the lowest option...well once everything was done I looked at menu for the salon and they offer a $25 pedicure as well. To say I feel taken advantage of is an understatement. I paid $81 and my toenails look like terrible mins after being done. The light in the room they use for waxing is awful, and I couldn't see what my eyebrows look like - I'm afraid to look now. read more

By far the worst place to get your nails done. For those that get dip manicures, instead of removing the nail color by soaking a cotton ball and wrapping your finger nails with tin foil, they literally instruct you to rub your hands against paper towels in a bowl of acetone (Yes, their actual service you pay for). They make you do this for over 20 minutes to the point of your hands being stained in acetone and losing all feeling in your nerve endings. Their color choices for dip are horrible (unless you want glitter nails). Don't waste your money here - you'll walk out with your hands looking worse than walking in. read more

VV Nails does excellent no chip manicures, I've been very happy eith them. They usually last 3 weeks. I did get a pedi once, kind of a new girl did it and she did a so-so job. I would try it again though. I have an issue, although I will continue to come here. The thing is that everyone who works there speak a different language. All they do is talk to each other and sometimes yell to someone across the room, in their language. It's difficult to ask questions because you start talking and you can't finish because they all start talking to each other. Most of the time I sit there and don't ssy anything. And sometimes you don't know if they're talking about you. Except for Jenny, who works diligently, and doesn't do all the back and forth stuff. I usually go to simply nails in Arlington heights (the best) they were booked so I went here. Big mistake. I went in for a manicure and the polish chipped within 12 hours. My polish usually does not chip for at least two weeks when I go to my regular place. They must be using 8 year old polish and top coats or something. The place is dirty too. She didn't even bother cleaning up the crap from the person before me either. I'll never come to this "salon" again! I recommend you go to simply nails in Arlington heights. When you read reviews about businesses it is good to read all the 5 star ones but it is also very important to read the 1 star ones. All the 1 star reviews stated rushed 20 minute pedicures but I still decided to find out for myself. Yes, it is true....I was in and out in 20 minutes...worst pedicure I have ever had. The girl rushed and barely removed the dry skin and when I pointed out a spot that needed it she gave me attitude and said she already did it and that I had dry feet and needed to use vaseline. No massage...just a slobbering of lotion quickly......Also, I speak a second language and it doesn't bother me to hear Vietnamese spoken but honestly the 5 employees that were there we shouting loudly in their language ...so unprofessional. Terrible place do not go here even if they give you a free manicure/pedicure. I made an appointment for 5pm and when I got here on time for my appointment I was made to wait for one hour extra. The whole time they had my feet soaking in very cold water. I asked for them to fill it with some hot water but they said it was too full to fill so I just sat there waiting for an hour with my feet soaking in cold water. Then as a cherry on top they tried charging me an extra 6 dollars without even informing me that they were going to do that. Very shady and terrible business. Do not go there!!! read more

i been coming to the location for many many years.. and within the last year the service went down.. my daughter went there for a full set the lady was very rough and the set looked horrible. the new owner tried to fit it and could not and she was very rude to her. I called she ending up refunding the money back after that I was going somewhere else.. . I figured I give it another chance the lady who did my full set made the nails cricket they were supposed to be coffin shaped and somewhere somewhere not and they were very bumpy and when I called and told them.. I was not happy with the service they told me to come back in and have it corrected I said I wanted someone to fix them. the owner told me no so I said I wanted them soak off and a new set put on and they told me they would not do that. She was great, she took her time, and did not try to rush through the service. She also collaborated with me on the design and was very patient with me (I am insanely picky about my nails). Prices were pretty average, and the salon was super clean. I did not make an appt and as a walk in did not have to wait at all and this is mid day on a Sunday. I have been coming here for over 2 years now, I started because of convenient location, but now I am hooked to not only the great service but also to the people working there...these guys are the nicest people, and very professional and skilled. I went to this place few times, but will not be returning. First few times I did "dipped in" manicure, which I was really happy about because they actually lasted a long time, however the customer service side was horrible. The lady that did my nails (never introduced herself ) was eating ice cream... and she continued to eat her ice cream and made me wait for her to finish before she started doing my nails! I was shocked! Another time I went there, the lady that did my pedi seemed friendly and I wish she did my mani as well, because the one that did my mani was horrible. She was acting like she is doing ME a favor! Seriously?! I was visiting my mother for a week so thought I would stop at this salon right by her house to get a mani/pedi. Boy, what a mistake. First, they talked me into a no-chip manicure which looks like s**t and was so expensive. The pedicure was mediocre at best. She tried to talk me into a no-chip pedicure, but thankfully, I said no. The place is so dirty. They have a sign on the door to please wear your mask, but the workers had their mask below their nose!!! They are so rude, all they do is talk their language to each other so you feel like they are talking about you. I don't see how they could have talked about me as I sat there getting my mani and pedi and did not say a word. I let my tip show how unhappy I was.....it was small to say the least (and I am usually a very good tipper!!). Don't go to VV Nails....it is dirty, expensive, and a waste of your time. Only been a couple of days and my "No Chip" has already chipped!!! So disappointed that I didn't go to where my mom's neighbor goes on Landmeier by 7-11. Next time I will know better!!! I usually wait a few months after going to a particular place to judge the quality of service after several times versus once or twice. So, with that said, the prices are moderate. $25 for acrylic, $35 for gel, $45 for pink & white etc. They do OPI No Chip for $35 and shellac for $30. I've had several different of those above mentioned services done. My nails never chipped or cracked & lasted the 2 weeks or more as promised. Their work quality is far beyond exceptional. Pedicures are very luxurious too. They are clean & everyone is courteous there. No matter what day or time of day you go, there's usually a wait, even on a Friday night. The wait is never long, but you get above & beyond exceptional service & beautiful nails. Now who can argue with that? read more
