My one and only experience with Simply Cakelicious was absolutely horrible and definitely put a shadow over my daughter's 8th birthday party. I ordered 12 cupcakes, 24 cake pops, and a 4" vanilla "cake" for a bowling party. I brought a picture with me to the shop showing what I wanted the cupcakes to look like. And it gave me a sense of security when Teri took a picture of my picture. What I got, was 12 pink swirly cupcakes that looked NOTHING like what I ordered; 24 vanilla cake pops that were entirely too sweet - even for 8 year olds; and a 4" CHOCOLATE "cake" for the birthday girl (who doesn't eat chocolate) with a droopy bowling pin and stars as decorations, which, AGAIN, looked nothing like what I ordered. Unfortunately, I picked up the order on the day of the party and had to make do with what I got, which was a batch of a combination of ugly, inedible and amateurish. And, to top it all off, I got to pay $85 for it all. Fantastic! I was so excited to go to Simply Cakelicious because of the Cake Wars factor and Teri's reputation as a talented fondant artist. O.M.G. These are some of the best cupcakes I have tasted...and I have conducted a lot of taste tests around the DMV..lol. It is worth the drive to Waldorf. The owner is very friendly and has a great selection of cupcakes. They are also very reasonably priced. I will not be going all the way to Georgetown anymore...especially since I think these taste better and you don't have to deal with the parking madness! Try them out...I am sure you will like them. My favorites are the Pineapple Dump Cake cupcake and the coconut custard....ohhh...and the triple chocolate delight...and the... well...you get the picture. lol read more

Amazing! I have used this bakery for birthday cakes for years! I can bring in any picture of any cake and they always do a great job! My most recent order was for a 2 tier transformer cake for my son's 6th birthday. The cake looked incredible and tasted even better! The apple cinnamon layer was especially good. read more

I ordered my wedding cake and cupcakes from Simply Cakelicious. We have had cupcakes from them prior to me ordering my cake and they were very good so I went with them for our wedding cake. Well on our reception day we went to take the cake out of the box and you can see the pictures I have attached. I am very disappointed with the owner of the company for being extremely rude when I called her concerning my cake catastrophe!!! When we opened the box the cake was all over the place! So I called her business and ask for the owner I was told she wasn't in so I explained to them what was going on. So the lady tells me.. oh, just get 2 spatula's and put the cake back upright... I am thinking this is not going to fix the issue. It was a four tier cake with no dowel rods in the cake to hold it together and when I placed the order I let her know how far we lived from her business and that the reception was on a farm!! So I did it and it made it more of a mess. So the owner calls me and I tell her what's going on. She is rude with me asking where I live so she can come try to fix the cake . She wanted me to text her pictures, which I sent her many. So she shows up to our wedding reception and is very rude to my daughters and mother. Throws the cake box across my moms kitchen floor and getting icing everywhere. So needless to say my cake looked nothing like it was suppose to. I have not gotten any phone call or text message from the owner concerning this matter and I am very very disappointed with her and her company!!! I'm very disappointed in this establishment. This was my first time visiting and I found out about them here on Yelp. I wanted to try their cupcakes and would have probably become a regular customer. It smelled heavenly when I walked in the bakery. I chose my cupcakes and went to present my card for my $6 purchase and was told I'd have to pay an additional $2 for bank charges. Their new policy as of 1 October is any purchase under $50 will be charged a $2 transaction fee. In the world as it is now, not many carry cash. But to pay $2 (the price of a cupcake) to purchase 3 cupcakes is really sad. There are too many charging systems out now to not charge your customers $2 for reach transaction. For me to take the time to write this means it really got under my skin. It speaks loudly of this establishment's management principles. read more

The first time I went to Simply Cakelicious, I was not impressed. I think they had just opened a few weeks prior to my initial visit. I cannot remember what cupcake I ordered but it was NOT good! So I never went back. I would literally see this bakery every day and would not go in! Just recently my neighbor told me she bought some cupcakes for her husband's birthday and how good they were. I could not believe it. So today I go to get cupcakes for my son's birthday. The bakery smelled SO good! Now I'm getting excited! The lady in front of me says to another lady, how good the cupcakes were! I decided to purchase 8 cupcakes; the German Chocolate, Apple Caramel, Sweet Potato, Lemon, Cookies and Cream, Key Lime and Marble and Blueberry Lemon!! Simply delicious... From the service to the cupcakes to the birthday cake they made for my son's 7th Birthday. We found this bakery by just driving past. We were searching for a bakery to create the soccer ball cake my son wanted. So we decided to taste the delicious cupcakes that are on display and was sold. Everyone We spoke with were very helpful and kind. We ordered a 10inch soccer ball cake and let me tell you, the cake looked just like a perfectly round soccer ball. On top of that the cake was moist and pretty tasty. Sometimes cakes are decorated beautifully but the taste isn't that great, not in this case. I've had the pleasure to enjoy their cupcakes on several occasions. The flavor and decor never disappoint.

I visited Simply Cakelicious recently on a whim to satisfy my sweet tooth. I purchased a cupcake, walked to my car and ate a small piece. It was disgusting and I promptly returned it to the bakery for a refund. The associate helping me wasn't able to process the refund, so she asked the manager/owner for instructions and was told no refunds, exchange only. I asked for the manager to come to the front to speak to me. When she arrived, I explained that the cupcake was inedible, hard, did not taste like cake, and had a bad flavor. She advised that the cakes are stored at 32 degrees and the cupcake would be fine after it sat out for a while. We went back and forth for a few minutes, and I accepted a replacement cupcake located in a different area that was chilled frozen, as a refund was not going to be made. I ate the cupcake two days later and was underwhelmed by the taste. It was no longer hard but the flavor was lacking and the cake consistency was really off. I would never recommend this place, you can get better cake products elsewhere. read more

I called to place a large order for cupcakes for my hospital thanksgiving party. The customer service representative acted like I was a bother to her. I asked about the different cupcakes they had. I told her I heard they have a very good upside down pineapple cupcake. She cut me off mid-sentence stating "we are not making that cupcake anymore, we are focusing on pies." So, I asked her what are the flavors of the cupcakes and she proceeded running through the different flavors like she needed me off the phone at once. I said Ok I like to place an order and she hung up on me. I called back and I asked politely did you just hung up on me. She said I said hello and you said nothing. I told her I said OK, I would like to place an order. She told me I took to long. Keep in mind she was running through the flavors of cupcakes so fast I was just trying to remember them. Now this is the really kicker. I asked to speak to a manager and I over heard the manager said I don't have time to speak to anyone. I call her back. The rude customer service representative repeated just what her manager said. I did leave my number for her to call me back. I was about to place and order for 200 cupcakes but I will not be ordering from this place ever. They seem not to be well organized or able to handle large orders during the holiday season . My rating/review is based off of customer service. However, the quality of cake is pretty good. In regards to my conversation/exchange within the store Saturday, February 15th.... I appreciated her initial attempt to rectify the issue that I had with the cake, by adding pink sparkle dust. However, the cake provided was far from what I asked for. The picture that I presented to the owner and the young lady Millie, on January 17th, was quoted by the owner at $35, for a buttercream replica of a pink cake. When the lady that was working the front counter showed the owner the picture of what I actually wanted that morning, the owner responded with "That's the picture she sent to Millie? Well I never got it. Also, tell her that would've been a $65 cake". That was honestly extremely rude, unprofessional & dismissive. As if I should just be happy with what I was given, because it was much less than what I was expecting.  The price wasn't an issue for me. It was simply what I was quoted, based off of the picture I showed them. I was instructed by HER employee to text a picture to her personal cell, and she'd ensure that it was given to the baker. HER employee clearly dropped the ball, and that was of no fault of mine. I had a ton of stuff to do, and it was the day of my child's birthday party, so I had to work with what I had. I've emailed the baker before with no response, and I'm sure the email that was sent regarding this situation Saturday, will receive the same amount of attention. Zero!
