Run do not walk to The Toasted Yolk Cafe! This was highly recommended by a friend while we were visiting Raleigh and oh my god I craved it daily. Service was phenomenal, everyone was so friendly and we chatted about the restaurant and this is where I found out there were 2 back home in Florida and it was a wrap after that. Food was so flavorful and filling, prices were good and I love the vibe here. My friends have come back since I left and we have shared our food stories as I've already gone to 1/2 in Florida lol. New spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch in Wake Forest. Toasted Yolk opened where a Mexican restaurant was previously. The interior has been revamped and brightened, it's is sleek and shiny. We were seated immediately. There are a number of tables for large parties; we fit a party of 8 comfortably in one of the booths. The menu is extensive; takes a while to review it all. All of the breakfast favorites are there, from the basic to the fancy. Prices are mostly in the $18-$21 range.... Not inexpensive but about on par for what breakfast out is selling for today. Service is attentive, but not entirely accurate. It took an extra round to get all the drinks right and there was a mixup with one of the sides. Since it's only the 2nd week, they get some grace here.... with practice it'll be better. Time from order to service about 10 minutes, so it's quick. My Alaskan Arnold was good. Served piping hot. Nicely toasted English muffin, big filet of salmon plus spinach on each half, topped with poached eggs. Creamy tart hollandaise sauce over the top. The poached eggs were overcooked, the yolks were hard instead of runny. Need some work on those - runny yolk is what makes the dish. Also tried the West Coast Arnold. Another unique eggs benedict concoction with turkey, bacon, guacamole and tomato, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise. Same challenge with the eggs - yolks were hard. Tried to order with the Junkyard Hashbrown Casserole since that sounded delicious. Was served just cheesy hashbrowns. They were good but I suspect not as good as what was ordered. A service note: when a mistake is made, what was ordered should immediately be brought to the table and should be removed from the bill. Neither of those things were offered. Disappointing. But again... some grace because they're just getting started. All things considered, this spot has potential. Will wait a bit till they're more settled in for the next visit. The Toasted Yolk Cafe in the Wakefield section of Raleigh is where I had a Monday brunch, as the place I planned to dine at was closed on Monday. I had wanted to try the new restaurant anyway. I loved the high ceilings and the paintings on the wall. The colors were cheerful. There was a patio offering outside seating. There was also a bar, mostly booths and some tables for larger parties. The bar did have some TVs playing. I didn't care for the channels selected, so maybe they could remove the televisions or find better stations to keep them on. The hostess was friendly, as was my waitress. My iced tea was brought out quickly, but I needed a little more time with the menu, and she was slow to return to take my order. I ordered the classic Arnold, their take on an eggs Benedict. It came with grits or hashbrown casserole and a small portion of fruit. Someone other than my waitress brought out my plate. I love a good eggs Benedict, so I was really looking forward to it. But the fruit was the best part of the meal. The Hollandaise sauce was just bad, too thick; look at the photo, it isn't moving on the eggs but is molded to them. Maybe it was under the heat lamp too long, which allowed it to form a crust rather than stay smooth and warm. The eggs had a weird texture, so I am wondering if they were pre-cooked then reheated. The ham was good. The hashbrown casserole was very cheesy; I didn't taste the potatoes. The restaurant had some flies, but they were just going to my fruit. So that may have been the only fresh item on the plate. My check was brought out early, but the waitress never came when I was finished to take care of it. I did like that I could pay at the table. There was an option to pay via a QR code. That might have been the best option, even though the restaurant was very slow on a Monday morning. The other waitstaff did seem attentive. read more

( I like mines cook fully through the middle mines just didn't taste right. ) The bacon hits . The eggs are plain & I wasn't a fan. We heard the buzz about this new local restaurant so we had to give it a try. I enjoyed the salmon poached egg with fresh fruit. My husband had an omelette that looked very good as well. Service was decent, but it was very very slow getting food out. Overall, we got the French toast sticks as an appetizer which were pretty good. Entrees we got the chicken sandwich which is a signature, very filling and tasty, but cold once I got it. It took forever for this to come out. Other entree was the hot honey and yolk sandwich with a side of cheese grits, which they did not put the hot honey on and the grits were not good at all. Went on a Sunday morning. The hostess was nice and efficient. We were seated a bit faster than estimated which was a pleasant surprise. When we were seated we were given menus with no reference to drinks. We later saw people at the bar with a second drink menu. This is a miss given how much margin drinks can create. I ordered a scramble with "house made queso." I don't know what house it was made in, but I bet there's a bunch of empty ballpark nacho cheese cans behind it. The queso absolutely ruined the entire plate. The hash round casserole was ok, but was underdone and could have benefitted from having a crispier top. My wife's French toast was ok, but you could read through the slices of bacon she got as a side. The food wasn't bad, but neither of us cared to finish our meals. The waitress was very pleasant but never returned after our food was delivered until she came to ask if we wanted the check. I'm hoping management can sort out the wrinkles. Seems like there's a good foundation to a brunch spot. read more

Just left after being there 2 1/2 hours. Arrived at 11:30, wait time till 12 Expected. Sat for 15 minutes before server came to take drink order. Took 10 minutes? Took food order at 12:30 At 1:15 we asked for manager. She apologized and said it was Sunday???? Finally got food in spurts 10 minutes later. Then we get bill and it was wrong. I would love to say that my experience was positive. That being said, it was mostly meh. There seemed to be a heavy emphasis on aesthetics here rather than the actual quality of the food and service. The service was a bit slow, although that wasn't really a problem since they were noticeably busy. Fine. The regular coffee was surprisingly good. The latte, however, was disgusting. Despite having an espresso machine, no one was actually using it, and the latte tasted like it came straight out of a carton. As for the food, we got simple egg platters. First suggestion: increase the portion sizes or decrease the size of the plates. There was more negative space than food. The eggs were completely unseasoned, but at least they weren't overcooked. The sausage? Straight out of the freezer, straight out of the box, straight off the truck. I didn't try the bacon, although I was told it was fine. The grits were okay enough, but again, completely unseasoned. And the home fries? Another reviewer compared them to those scalloped-potato-from-a-box deals, and I think that's pretty dead-on. The texture was basically just mush. I don't know. We didn't try any of the Benedicts, mixed drinks, or sugary gimmicks, so I can't really evaluate the place based on those items. All in all, this felt like a lot of the other new breakfast/brunch places: very clean, lots of bells and whistles, and clearly designed to look good. But underneath all of that, there didn't seem to be much actual cooking going on. Like so many of these new places, it seems like it's just low quality food masked by heavy sauces, butter, and other add-ons that try to make mediocre, frozen, or ultra-processed ingredients seem more impressive than they actually are. Maybe the more elaborate items are where this place shines. But based on a couple of very basic breakfast platters, I wasn't impressed. Very well lit and decorated. Hostess not quite up to par yet, didn't seem to know where to put us and it wasn't full inside. Service was pleasant but VERY slow! Chicken salad was nice, Chicken and rice soup was OK - but salty and very thick! Could eat it with a fork. Southwest bowl really good, and French toast sticks were good. Probably just a bad day but not a great experience at toasted yolk today. It started off with a really bad smell walking in the front door like dirty mop water it was horrible once we got to our seats it was better but the food was a downer too. Both me and my partner got the same thing the namesake toasted yolk the eggs were overcooked and hard and no seasoning whatsoever, and the bacon was burned and clearly overcooked as well it was like driftwood. Came here with a gal group of seven, and I don't think one person liked their food. We are not picky. We eat all over town. I ordered the classic eggs Benedict and my friend ordered the California style. Both of our eggs were boiled hard as a rock. My hollandaise sauce was bright orange and looked very weird on the plate like possibly my plate had been sitting for a good 20 minutes to half an hour and when you touched the hollandaise sauce, it didn't even budge. I'm sad. I didn't take a photo. I sent it back. I ended up not eating at all. My friend sent hers back to get real poached eggs and it took them over in a half an hour to remake her eggs and everybody else was done eating. The one friend who got the like quinoa bowl said it left a weird taste in her mouth after she was done eating it. She was not too thrilled with that. My friend got scrambled eggs and a couple sausage links that was like $12. That's all it came with and her eggs were brown so scrambled eggs really well done. The gal that got the BLT she loved her sandwich and she said probably because she didn't get any eggs lol. I would not recommend this place. read more

Our overall experience at the Toasted Yolk was less than average . We were seated at 10:30am, the sever greeted us and took our drink order at 10:40am. The orange juice arrived at 10:50 and coffee at 11am. At that time the server took our order. The order arrived at 11:35am and was missing part of the order . They said they would be back with the rest . 10minutes later our server stopped by so we told them we were missing some eggs and a biscuit . 10 minutes later the eggs came and we had to again ask for the biscuit . 10minutes later the biscuit arrived. At which time the server gave use the bill . The food is not that great and the hashbrowns casserole is just scalloped potatoes using hashbrowns. The space is large and has no sound dampening so it is loud and hard to talk when it is busy. The business is new so hopefully the service and food improve . read more

I booked a table for 2 for brunch and I was never able to get a seat because they closed at 3. This is unacceptable.

I will start with the food and service was good BUT we waited 45 minutes for our food. I understand things happen but I don't understand how you have owners and managers in the restaurant and no one cares enough to apologize. After we paid for our meals and was leaving one of the owners was at the front door so we explained to her what happened and her excuse was we were busy.
