Newly discovered and a real keeper! My wife and I just enjoyed a Mediterranean wrap (hers) and Protein Paradise salad (mine) and both were outstanding. Ingredients were super fresh and top shelf. Lunch is disappointing. Dinner is great but overpriced. I came here for the 4th time recently to have lunch while I do work on my computer. I've come here in the past and had great experiences, but it seems that the name of the place and the menu have both changed. I asked if the menu had changed and I was told that my visit was during the lunch time, which is why the dishes I wanted to order were not available. The lunch menu turned out to be far more limited than the dinner menu, which they wouldn't make any food from (though they will make breakfast still). I ordered the Po' Boy which was essentially a bunch of lettuce and a few gigantic globs of deep fried breading, which I was told contained eggplant, though I did not taste any eggplant. I just tasted fried breading and lettuce. It was remarkably dry, and mostly flavorless. When the server asked me how the food was, I told her the fries were great but the sandwich was really disappointing, and she replied "I guess I won't make any more recommendations" and walked away from me. I also asked my server for the Wi-Fi password, and she said she would be right back, but never returned with it. A few minutes later another server noticed me waiting at my table with my Mac open, and offered to get it for me without prompting. Nobody knew it offhand which I find to be strange for a Café. The vibe here doesn't seem very welcoming for having a coffee and doing work. It seems more of a turn-and-burn kind of place where they want you off your table asap, even when you're the only guest. My server asked if she could take my plate away before I was finished eating, which I interpreted as a "wrap it up please". The dinner menu here has been delightful. The "Calamari" and "Mozarella" sticks are why I came today, but they were not on the lunch menu. Their breakfast scrambles and pasta dishes are great. However, the lunch menu seems like they are stretching out the ingredients as far as they can to keep their margins wide, which makes me feel like I wasted time and money coming here. Also, the guy in the kitchen seems to hate working here, and I think he's the owner. You can kind of feel it. There's just an overall grumpy and resentful vibe by the window. I could be misreading it, but it's palpable from my experience. I feel like I offend the staff when I ask for extra sauce. This place feels like a restaurant that was once great but is now suffering and has begun cutting corners as a result. Their juices appear to be the same price, but they no longer come in 16oz cups, and instead come in 12oz bottles. The pastry selection has shrunk to two items, which was why I initially came in the first place. I ordered coffee and cake after, and my cake was brought over with no fork. When I received my check I gave them my card but I was called from across the room to come type in my pin, and a group of girls had to be cleared from in front of the register so I could make my way up. I felt this was a strange way to pay for table service. I recommend coming here still for breakfast or dinner, but avoid lunch unless you really like lettuce a lot. This place is not a Café, and it's not a restaurant. I would say that the food is similar to diner food, and the service is like that of a food truck. If you're looking to have coffee and do some work, go somewhere else. read more

We came in on Saturday for a Mother's Day brunch and it did not disappoint! My family is full of meat eaters, and they loved the breakfast burrito and pancakes. I got the protein salad with crispy tofu, and it was fresh and delicious. The tofu scramble was also great, and the raspberry french toast was amazing. The prices were extremely reasonable, and the service was great. We grabbed a few donuts for the road, and the oreo filled donut was just as good as it gets. This is the best vegan restaurant. Seriously, my hubby and I eat here at least 2 dinners a week. And Sunday breakfast too, which is delicious. We have brought tons of friends to turn them on to this place. They all loved it. Anyone who is leery of 100% vegan restaurants will be converted as soon as they come here. I did not know this place was open since June otherwise I would have come sooner. Anyway, I tried the penne vodka and tofu scramble wrap. The penne vodka is not worth $15. The sauce was not thick or creamy and it tasted like regular tomato sauce. However, the tofu scramble wrap is amazing. This vegan restaurant is a welcomed gem to the area with hardly any fully vegan sit down restaurants near by. It is a no frills place but it has very positive vibes and a great menu! This food is amazing!!! Doesn't even taste like vegan!!!! It taste better! The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is casual. They get packed really quickly, because this is the best place in the neighborhood. The vegan deserts arrive on Friday and usually gone by Sunday (that's how good it is). Super yummy. I've had the eggplant parm sub and the penne vodka with crispy tofu and a few other things. love all the baked goods that i think are from vegan treats. Most of the employees are awesome, I did have someone one time get upset with me for bringing in a smoothie (that I made at home....) when I was just picking up food to go. "Did you seriously bring in a smoothie to a restaurant that makes smoothies?" That was kind of a turn off but not enough to turn me away because this food is seriously TO DIE FOR. I did read online that they've had problems with people bring in nonvegan food which is insane (to even bring food into a restaurant to eat is crazy in general) so I can understand where they are coming from. The only comment on the food was the crispy tofu didn't have too much flavor, so for those who don't like tofu you may not like that, but i love tofu regardless so i enjoyed it. And they didn't give me garlic bread it is supposed to come with, which is also a small thing but if you're a garlic fanatic like me, was a disappointment when I opened the box at home haha. All in all, I definitely recommend this place and would just suggest they keep working on the small kinks and awesome customer service. As someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I know customer satisfaction is top priority at a restaurant and I believe once they get that down to a T this place will be 5 STAR !!!! read more

Excellent food and even better service. Staff was friendly and the food was so good that I wouldn't have even known that it was vegan. This place is seriously fantastic. I come here with my roommate regularly as we live a few blocks away and are vegetarian. We're so happy to have a place so close that is vegan and delicious. Lol she called me a "piece of s$@t" I believe her mommy and daddy helped her get this place open but with her crafty replies to customers trying to give real reviews for constructive purposes, not the many good fake ones given by her friends and family she will not make it in the long run. We are not living in a third world country ! In the United States we try to be a little more civilized but I guess their not at that level. You can market yourself as healthy but when your serving coated, pre/seasoned frozen French fries out of a bag to fry them... well let's just say it's not very healthy and your kind of misleading the customers you pretend your trying to help. Unfortunately your just trying to line your pockets by charging more for a less labor intensive product that your to lazy to put a little extra effort into. Other than copying key marketing words such as "Vegan" do you actually know ANYTHING about nutrition? Get out while u can. You shouldn't yell at employees over the phone in your restaurant for customers to hear you. Customers don't want to witness your crude ways of talking down to your staff while their trying to enjoy a meal they were led to believe is healthy and it's not. read more

The best vegan restaurant I've been to in New Jersey, maybe anywhere. We've gone for breakfast and dinner and so far have not had a bad meal. Everything has been exceptional. The penne vodka, quinoa salad, calamari and empanadas were delicious. For breakfast I got the breakfast sandwich and my husband got the breakfast burrito, both were amazing. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I go far too often! It is the only good vegan food available in the area and it is so amazing, I have brought maybe people with me who aren't vegan or even vegetarian and they still love it! My favorites are the plantiful burrito, the eggplant parm sandwich, and the best thing I think is the grilled oyster mushrooms! They are so amazing. The hummus and guacamole are very good as well. I was so excited to learn of a vegan restaurant with gluten free options! I manage a retail store and often have lunch catered for my staff so we were very excited to have a new place to order from. Looking at the menu, I recognize that all of the sandwiches were offered with a gluten-free bread option... Including the eggplant, which is breaded? Needless to say I was very confused by this so I called and a young woman on the phone had a very difficult time telling me what on the menu was actually "gluten-free." She did inform me that anything could be made on a gluten-free bread but admitted that she "wasn't sure" what contain gluten and what didn't. For someone with a gluten sensitivity this is obviously a very big deal! She finally said "hang on let me ask my dad" and when she returned I got the same speech about gluten-free bread. I advised her that we have people on our staff with gluten sensitivity and her response was "well then I guess there's nothing here for you." WOW. I guess she was right. We won't be patronizing this establishment. VERY disappointing. read more

Overpriced food, and dripping with grease. "But it is vegan" essentially, they treat vegans like suckers, serving unhealthy, deep fried food at inflated prices, but calling it "vegan" Response to "owner" Yes, I know what vegan is. I also know that there was a pool of oil all over my plate from the tasteless, tiny, deep fried, overpriced sandwich that i got there. A person should not have to order "raw vegetables" as an alternative to not getting a pool of grease on their plate. People are vegan for three main reasons, health, environment, and animal cruelty. Well, you folks threw health out the window as a reason to overpay at your greasy spoon. it is essentially an overpriced greasy spoon diner where you overcharge for some deep fried meat substitutes, instead of the meat itself. Why don't you rename it, the "No Meat heart attack cafe?" Or perhaps "the overpriced, deep fried oil slick" Still pushing the french fries on everyone? This is to make up for the tiny, overpriced portions that are still so greasy that they could produce an oil slick. I don't usually write reviews, but this place definitely deserves one. Simply green cafe is one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been to. In fact, I drive there out of my way 30 minutes from home each way to either pick up food or eat it there. They have a big menu, one that is pretty overwhelming if you're vegan and haven't been to many vegan places. Their customer service is amazing, and the waitresses that I've seen there are always happy to come over and answer any questions you have. My personal favorites are the chickn parm panini, the chickn caesar wrap, potato skins, chickn noodle soup and the waffles. They have so many more amazing options and I will continue to go there as much as I can. read more
