After looking thru her website, she had some unique flavors for her spring 2021 Seasonal Flavors. I'm always a huge fan of any local business who's mission is the source locally as much as possible to support small businesses. And, besides, who doesn't want to try a Japanese-inspired cake from a independent baker who's name translates to Black Cat!! I ordered one of Kuro Nero's seasonal special cakes - 8" Matcha & Azuki - to try, with a Saturday pick-up at her home bakery. S/O to the fantastic smooth-as-butta icing design! The simple yet elegant decorations topping the cake were perfect. The matcha cake was simply scrumptious! The batter portion is soft and fluffy, not dense, and subtly sweet, not overwhelming with fake, cheap sugar. The middle section is azuki - a sweet red bean filling. The Deborah's matcha buttercream icing is pillowy soft. I do not like dense icing, and thick levels of it is a personal turnoff. I loved the matcha buttercream consistency of this icing: Lite on the tongue, a perfect complement to my decadent dessert! I'm assuming Kuro Neko's business is a large portion of wedding and special event cakes, as her photo gallery of past cakes on her website is quite appeasing to the tastebuds. After seeing, and tasting, my cake, I'll definitely order from Kuro Neko when I get a sweet craving for a unique cake option!!

In Persian culture, rose water is used frequently in pastries and cakes and, we wanted the cake design to reflect elements of a traditional Persian love cake with pistachios and rose petals. The cake is also important for the cake cutting ceremony (aka the knife dance). When we found Kuro Neko, we were so excited about the strawberry rose flavor and the gorgeous design of cakes. Deborah is the sweetest human and was so flexible with us and incredibly creative. She sent a sketch of the cake, and when we fell in love with it we even decided to add another tier. She also delivered it on our big day and sent a kind note beforehand. Deborah is insanely talented and our guests were in awe of the beautiful cake she designed and gave high compliments on how delicious it was. I visited Tous Les Jours for the first time on Memorial Day (May 2026) at the Columbus location. I arrived around 2:30pm on a Monday. Surprisingly, they had lots of options available even with my late arrival because most bakeries run out of items quickly. They sell croissants, cakes, milk breads, macarons, drinks, etc. MY ORDER ($18.95 total for 4 items) -- Twist Donut ($2.95), Sweet Frank Roll ($4.50), Almond Croissant ($4.75), and a Whole Milk Loaf bread ($6.75). 1. Twist donut ($2.95) - sweet but not overly sweet. It tasted just like a regular twist donut that you'll find at other donut shops. 2. Sweet Frank Roll ($4.50) - good. Perfect savory option for breakfast or lunch. Soft and buttery bread base. I think $3 would have been a better price but the bread roll was good. I ate this in my car before driving back to Cleveland. It held me over until I got home. 3. Almond Croissant ($4.75) - my favourite item - buttery with some almond cream or paste inside. Topped with almonds. I don't like creamy things at all and I didn't realize that this croissant had a cream inside until I opened it but the cream is very light and it is more of a spread than a cream. 4. Whole Milk Loaf Bread ($6.75) - Fresh and soft. Definitely my other favourite item. This was all gone within a day, that's how good it was. Buttery goodness. The best bread. Overall, I enjoyed visiting Tous Les Jours and I hope to visit their Cleveland location soon. I ordered takeout so I didn't sit in but they have some tables and chairs available. I'll definitely be back if I'm close by the area again. The other note I'll add is it was a pricey cake but creating art is expensive so this is open to debate. Susan's work blew me away when I found her Facebook profile. I was certain that with only a 2 day…read morelead time she would respectfully decline as 3 other companies did, but no. Susan was confident in her ability to bring the vision we had discussed to life. And of course she delivered the cake at the exact time she said she would. She had sent me a picture saying she was on her way that morning and as brilliant as it looked the picture did not do the cake justice. Once I saw her creation in person I almost fainted. It was THE GREATEST (bourbon barrel) cake I had ever seen in my lifetime. Perfectly shaped. All small details nailed. And everything we had talked about seeing right in front of my eyes. I wanted to give her a hug but the cake required 2 hands to carry so I was saddened and overjoyed at the same time. On top of that the cake was larger than I had expected - which was awesome, thank you Susan. And it tasted absolutely amazing. Just as good as it looked.
