Service was horrible even after making a reservation. One server for 20 tables. Server looked lost. ZERO EFFICIENCIES. I've seen this too many times at Indian Establishments like these. Silverware was disgustingly dirty. Bathroom reminded me of a Bombay train station. DISGUSTING. Can't even wash hands properly. The dirty dish cart was being dragged and rolled around during dinner to collect dishes. This is trash and the genius who thought this was an efficient move is an absolute PENCHOD. Go elsewhere nothing special here. Kids enjoyed their Nutella dosa. RAWA dosa was horrible, Pooris was ok. Simply south? Being a South Indian none of these flavors were southern . They all had the repugnant masala taste of some other region. I'll never come back here. Oh mango lassis was a hit but took over 20 min.. no thanks I'll pass, won't be coming back. Indians are so smart in achieving status but they still lack running businesses such as these to be efficient. Everything felt CHEAP with price gouged items. Lastly stop placing the chutney trays on the table when the food isn't out. The chutney stayed on the table for 25 min cold before any food came out. Another dumb move. Authentic maybe in andra Pradesh or some other Indian region. No South flavors here. The name is misleading. read more

Food is of very good quality. I got to know about this place through an instagram video and it didn't disappoint me. Service is also very good. Just keep in mind they have long wait times during peak meal times especially on weekends. The longest I have waited here is 35-40 mins. Their paneer Manchurian is mind blowing! So is chole bhature and masala dosa. read more

Poor management. Disorganized seating system- they told 20 groups that their table was ready and none of the tables were ready. Place is understaffed and workers are overworked and mistreated. They ran out of a flavor of a menu item and told us they can't cancel the item off our order and that we must choose one of the other flavors. If you run out of an item, you shouldn't force someone to buy something that they didn't want. I do not recommend this place. read more

As someone that is not a fan of South Indian food this place has successfully gotten my business multiple times. The place is amazing really clean from inside the staff is friendly. The food is amazing the thate idli is a must try as well as the bane dosa. The Chole Pori are also delicious. Overhyped placed. Food is good but everything else is bad. Reservation doesn't mean much as you still have to wait atleast 30 minutes. Service is sub par to put it mildly. Place is dirty, their kitchen feels like a trash can, tables have food underneath and you will see a trolley of dirty dishes walking by every 5 minutes inside the restaurant. Most servers are inexperienced, disinterested, rude staff. All in all there are much better cleaner and better serviced restaurants in the area than this. read more

Food is good, long wait, ambience is warm and inviting, BUT twice despite mentioning many times that my daughter has bad peanut allergies and choosing dishes that were recommended by the restaurant/waitress as peanut-free, my daughter got violently sick. I have ordered pickup from this restaurant multiple times. The appetizers are mist try and the rice items taste good. I would note food is oily though. It's definitely an overhyped restaurant. That said, it's still a nice spot. The presentation of the chutneys is impressive, and the dosas were delicious. The idli-wada combo was great too, but the sambar was served cold, which was a letdown. The chole was just okay, but the bhatura was absolutely yum. I had to grab napkins, spoons from other table as the waiter did not even bother to check if the table was set when the food arrived. Got dosa , thatte Idli and lunch thali. One of the best Indian restaurants I've tried in the whole of America. The chaap is unbelievable tender and flavorful. Jackfruit biryani was great. If you come I would recommend getting all 3 types of chaap. Worth the 40 minute drive we took to get here for dinner. Absolutely delicious food! The range of idlis and dosas on the menu is astounding. We stayed with two cups of excellent chai, then tried two different kinds of dosas with the accompanying tower of six chutneys and small bowls of rasam. The Mysore masala dosa was huge and shatteringly crisp, folded into a triangle around the spiced potato filling. The benne masala dosa was thicker and moister. They were both absolutely delicious, and the chutneys were wonderful and really made the meal extra tasty and fun to eat. The staff seemed concerned that we would find the food too spicy, and it was hot but not too hot. The dining room is beautiful, bright and airy, with crystal chandeliers. My only complaint is that the ladies' room did not measure up - it was very dated and badly needs freshening. Overall, I am sad that I don't live in the area, because I would eat at Simply South a lot. The food is delicious! read more

We were lucky to get a table within 5 minutes on a weekday evening. This place is very popular and can get very busy. Food tastes fresh and has more flavor variety than other South Indian restaurants. We had the Thatte idli (large size steamed and buttery soft idli), ghee karam dosa (podi powder dosa), jackfruit rice (jackfruits were dry, not in a curry), pulao, pongal (super yummy). We ere so excited to try different things but our hostess was patient and guided us on the portion sizes. Another server Ganesh came and asked us if we enjoyed the food. We enjoyed the food and the hospitality and will be back to try other dishes. Paneer starter was fried and then mixed with herbs giving it a unique flavor. Well first time here after hearing about the hype. Now I'm not sure it's all that. The ambience is gawdy but that's the designers taste.. the table for two wobbled half way through our meal that I held it down with one foot so we could prevent the rickety chutney carousel from toppling over. I'm not convinced that QC is working here since the focus now is opening the branch in Frisco soon. Coming to the food , it's questionable whether this is Andhra or Telangana cuisine. Since there is a section on the menu that posts coastal cuisine. Oh and by the way please wipe down your menus , they are dirty, they are worn and they look tired. This place is only 8 months old how can it look so worn down so quickly? I was displeased with the dosa ordered , It came limp on the plate with it falling off the edge and the potato plopped to a side, Mysore masala dosa. There are North Indian dishes available too so the name isn't simply south. Details, but I must mention the complaint I heard from a customer seated by the restrooms, don't accept the booth if you get that, he requested they move the janitorial supplies and mop and cart because it was smelling and they refused! I think that is a health hazard and discourtesy to the customer. The staff are helpful and eager to please if you can catch their attention. Overall I'm not sure why this is any better than the multitude of South Indian restaurants around DFW. What makes it stand out.. is it the reputation that it has back home? How can it be? The chefs aren't the same? And if you don't want your appetizers coming after your main dish then ask for them to be brought first. The food is brought in as they make it no rhyme no reason and not everyone's food comes at the same time, so one could be finished with their meal while the other hasn't started .. hahhaha read more

The food was very good. Tried their North Indian thali and chole bature. They have to get a better system in place for their reservation. Their front staff was very courteous and patient but with the overwhelming number of people it seems chaotic. Ambiance is very nice but they have to do a better job cleaning the tables. The menu card they gave was sticky with food spilt on it from whoever previously used it. So that was yucky. And the bathrooms, less said the better. I cannot imagine why it is a stereotype about Indian restaurants and bathrooms. It was just dirty. After all the waiting time you will have to provide cleaner facilities. read more

These people do not have minimum basic manners. It is an embarrassing situation for Me with people surrounding Me seeing.... The interior of the restaurant was very cute, but it was super bright inside- the fluorescent lighting was a bit jarring. We visited simply south restaurant today..and could see a large waiting list. Could see people arguing and making ruck sucks. People kindly understand that they are busy and packed tight with reservation and walkins and . We are all here for good south indian food, which is served with amazing quality and freshness. The staff here are too good and patient. Especially the reservations, where a lady patiently listens to us and tries to accommodate our request.
