We walked in an hour before closing. The waitress came by a few minutes later and told us they were closing soon - still 45 minutes until closing. We should have left then because she obviously didn't want to be bothered. She told us not to order any BBQ items because they already put those things away and it would take 20 minutes to cook. I realized the chicken in my curry was rotten/rancid when I took the first bite. When I told the waitress, she called the manager over. Instead of apologizing, she started to argue, explaining that the chicken could not be bad. Horrible service. Horrible food. Don't waste your money. read more

Passing through Utah and some Thai sounded good. I ordered beef pad see ew and a cup of Tom kha soup. The pad see ew was delicious, only complaint is that the beef could have been a bit more marinated and tender. The soup was also very delicious. It was creamier and had more coconut milk in it that others I have had. I also tried the house made coconut ice cream. The flavor was light but it was refreshing. read more

I would say this is like a one or a zero. it's good, but there's nothing spicy about it which ruins all of it for me. I will give this place a mid star review- for starters I was optimistic about the experience. The ordering process has finally gotten a huge improvement with the ability to place an order online (historically calling in over the phone was about a 50/50 shot of getting through). This alone is worth 5 stars. While I got food to go, I noticed when picking up my food that the restaurant was seating people and not requiring you to order at the counter as was implemented during Covid. However we were slightly disappointed in the food. A number of the items we ordered seemed to have undergone a change and felt like new recipes. The spring rolls (both fresh and fried) were missing ingredients that have been there before. The dipping sauces tasted different as well. Willing to give this place another try, but I wonder if this place undergone a change in management and as such has new recipes. Miss the taste of the old dishes here. read more

Environment was very open and friendly when we arrived. Hostess greeted us and seated us within minutes. People were laughing and talking. The place has a good feel to it. Not dark like some places. Very well lit and inviting. Food: I had Massaman and it seemed like it was going to be a huge hit when it came out. I was hungry and excited. The chicken seemed super soft as it basically just split apart. They only have me a couple of cashews, which seems to be the norm. These things must be made of gold. Once I started eating I realized it just didn't have a lot of flavor. It was filled with almost 50% potatoes. It just did not have a lot of flavor to it. The sticky rice was good. I was super disappointed and didn't even finish the meal. I honestly didn't even take home the left overs. My wife said her meal was meh. Maybe we have been spoiled with Tea Rose Diner. I may go back again, but at this point we were not impressed, which was disappointing since the environment and staff were so awesome. The front of house staff are excellent here, just wasn't into the food. Maybe another day I'll try it again. And something weird. My waitress never asked me about spice level. Not feeling room service at the hotel and longing for my bay area style east Asian curry flavored food with HEAT. I chose this place based on yelpers and wasn't disappointed. I called in a phone order for pick up. I was a little nervous, the guy answering the phone had an American accent, no other hint of anything. I felt like maybe this might be a bad idea. I wanted authentic. Not American. I ordered red curry chicken, asked for brown rice (no brown... But hey, a Cali girl can try), and roti. They don't have roti. Sad day. I get there right as they're closing. The boy answering the phone was clearly American and I believe his mom was Thai. Not sure if she was the cook or not but let's talk about it. I asked for medium to high spice. Not knowing what their spice levels are like. I got sticky white rice. Enough to feed 2-3 People easily. I got a litre sized container of red curry. IT WAS SO GOOD. All caps for that one. Legit, bay area good. Fresh bell peppers, kefir lime leaves weren't too bitter, good chopped bamboo, perfectly cooked chicken breast pieces, and then the curry: oh that curry. It wasn't red... like the darker medium pink I am used to, but a blushing tan. It was delicious tho. Heavy coconut milk base. And it didn't separate on my way to the hotel. That's pretty good emulsification! I'd DEF come back. I was very pleased. Just wish I had brown rice. read more

If you want some delicious take out, this is your place. The Red Thai Curry is delicious. If you want a good dine in experience, this is not your place. I realize they have staffing issues, because there were signs telling me this plastered to every wall when I walked in. But, it truly was awful. -Order taken at the counter was wrong -You have to pay by the can for soda ($1) and by the bottle for water ($.50), and beg for a solo cup with ice to put your drinks in -1-2 servers taking care of the entire dining area, making it hard to get any kind of refill on rice, drinks, etc. - Massaman curry flavor was good, but very mushy chicken from over cooking. I'm sympathetic to the frustration of not being able to find staff. But, it's not fair to paying customers to continue to allow dine in if you can't provide them with a good experience. Maybe it's time to just do the take out option only. Fair warning to anyone thinking of dining in here. read more

Simply Thai, quite simply is the best place for curry. I usually go for lunch. They have a great lunch menu. You get to choose two items. I always get the yellow and massaman curries. The are both the best I have had. They have a perfect consistency. I get tired of eating curry that is so thin it will run right through the rice. Service is always great and quite often the owner stops by my table to make sure we were taken care of properly. read more

Excellent Thai food, especially for this area. Walking in, I noticed the place was packed for lunch (usually a good sign). There are a ton of lunch special options (although no Pad Thai curiously - but you can order that from the regular menu). Pad Thai was on point, delicious, deep flavor. I usually judge a new Thai place by the quality of its curries and Simply Thai didn't disappoint. My only small complaint was that I like the curries a little thicker (were a bit runny) but the flavors were top notch. Also loved their Tom Ka Gai soup (they know what they're doing). My coworker had really great things to say about this place so while on a business trip to SLC, we tried it out. It certainly is not the best Thai food I've ever had. It was fine. The chicken satay was good, and for lunch you can choose two entrees, which is fun, or you can just double up on one. The food wasn't super hot when it came out, the service was mediocre (we had to wait a long time for silverware, then it was two spoons instead of a spoon and fork), and the receipts are written, which is bad news for a company who wants an itemized receipt in order to reimburse. So anyway, it's not the worst, not the best. It's definitely a great price for the food you get. read more

Wow, we are fans and it's only our first time eating at Simply Thai based on a referral plus the Yelp! reviews. We order our staple Thai favorites the first visit in order to compare to our other favorites (Sabaidee in Lehi, Sawadee in SLC, Thai Ginger in Seattle)... chicken pad Thai, Tom Kah Gai, and Panang. Every dish was flavorful and didn't skimp on the ingredients. The rice was fresh and hot, soup creamy, and noodles the perfect al dente. We are so happy to find another Thai place that delivers a flavorful punch in the mouth! Weekday lunch specials don't include any pad Thai, so we ordered it as an entree - wish it was offered in a smaller portion because it's not always convenient to take home leftovers right away (we were on our way to see a movie first). read more

Cute little Thai place to hit up in Sandy. I liked the environment and the service. Here is the thing though...there was a hair in my food! YUCK. How can that not be a deal breaker? Normally I can try to forget about it, but tonight it ruined my appetite for the rest of the evening. I ordered the Pad Khing Sod and thought is was just ok. Everyone else in my party seemed to like what they ordered. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. The dish itself cost $13.95, but with tax and tip I ended up paying about $19. I'm trying to think if that would have felt worth it to me even without the hair, and I really don't think it would. Came here because of the great reviews. When we arrived I checked in and was told 10 minutes to get table. As we looked around there were so many people!!! All tables were crammed with people. No social distancing and very few mask wearers. So we decided to leave. Just didn't feel right. Know restrictions have been lifted some, but hey to early to go back to normal Pre Covid lifestyle. Both my wife and I have been vaccinated for over a month. This isn't the answer and a nice dinner isn't worth it. read more

I'm not exactly sure what Covid-19 has done to a lot of restaurants, but this is just a joke! First of all you have to order and pay for your food at the front counter before you are even sat at a table. I think I know why: They delivered my husband's food and drink, but I had to wait 20 minutes to get my food, which I watched the server deliver to another table, walk back into the kitchen, then minutes later came back out and take it off of the other table and tried to serve it to me. During a deadly pandemic! The server seemed quite put out that I asked for a replacement be made. I understand that most are fed up with the process of keeping customers safe from Covid-19, but this is just a bit too relaxed for my comfort. I don't even know if she had a new serving prepared because my pad thai was served cold. Also, for Thai food, ordered extra spicy, it was extremely bland. Baby food has more flavor and is spicier. The chicken satay appetizer, which I watched as the server delivered to another table first, was delivered to us ice cold, and mere minutes before our meal was almost finished. I am getting really tired of writing these bad reviews, and I'm honestly hoping it's due to the year plus months of dealing with Covid-19 and lack of training of new hire employees.
