It did get a bit difficult to schedule an anal gland expression because they got so busy, but eventually we found somewhere to take care of that and now because we have her on a strict diet, don't have to worry about that as much anymore. We moved, but just wanted to give my kudos to the team there and my recommendation.

WCV has a 15 minute grace period. I guess that extra 3 minutes was too much for the staff to bear. They wouldn't let it slide not even once. Every past appointment we were on time, and we always had to wait 15-20 before we were seen. Our time is valuable, but they don't care about that. Well the $39 dollars they wanted to charge me cost WCV hundreds maybe even thousands in future earnings. Penny wise dollar foolish! The manager and front desk staff were clueless about customer service. Their smirks were straight out of Central Casting. We ended up walking out canceling our appointment, and vowing never to return again. Customer service counts now more than ever, and there are plenty of Vets that are more than happy to have a new customer. How much is West Coast Vet spending on marketing and ads? How many future customers will they lose with this post? I booked an appointment with another Vet right after leaving WCV. General rule in customer service-The customer is always right! Bottom line-Avoid this place at all costs!

I've had my dog in B Street over 100 times in the last 13 months. Yes, that is correct.. Over the…read moremany hours dealing with my own dog I've watched, seen, spoke to countless other patients and of course the Vets and staff. It's a large practice with ER Vets without ER prices. This is going to be a long review. My dog had an autoimmune disease that makes his body attack platelets. Basically without them you're going to die. Steroids and other immune suppressants are given in high doses which suppresses the immune system and can result in infections. My dog ended up one day collapsing out of the blue, no warning, no swelling the night before, and now a massive arm overnight. We rushed him down and it was a septic staph infection. A septic staph infection without a functioning and highly supressedimmune system in a 12 year old dog. Over two days Buddy's arm was drained and flushed under general anesthesia as subsequent infection pockets popped up . A culture was taken but we wouldn't know the results for days. Two broad spectrum antibiotics were picked from their experience and what they were seeing, a highly educated assumption of what would most likely work with the infection. Well, one of them was the correct choice and my dog that would most likely die didn't die. I might add that there ended up only being a few medication that the infection was susceptible to, and they picked again the right one. My dog at this point was very high risk after everything that happened to him especially due to his long term high dose Prednsione use that had deteriorated his body. He was a shell of the dog he use to be and had even gotten steroid induced Cushings. I couldn't put him through the steroids anymore and after the infection had subsided his platelets started to rapidly decrease again. B Street granted him his only chance of survival, a splenectomy. He not only made it through the surgery but immediately went in to remission. Since NOV 8th he has had a platelet count above 600k. Because Buddy is Buddy his liver enzymes went through the roof post splenectomy (hospitalization levels) and they chose the perfect concoction of medications including Urdosoil, mik thistle, and NAC which worked. His enzymes were so high it took nearly a month to get out of the severe danger zone, but he did. Four months later they are on the high end of normal with two still decreasing but of no worry. Dr. V at last recheck called them "boring", I like boring test results. Staff: every single person is not only excessively talented but good people. I'm not naming people because there are too many that are phenomenal and I feel like I will leave someone out and feel bad about it. I'm not a sunshine and rainbows person, I'm generally pretty negative (something I'm working on). This place is the only place I trust, that's it. A few reviews mention wait times. I never see this talked about...B Street is a trauma center with non-trauma prices, actually incredible prices. They are great with every day worries and treat animals with gastrointestinal, skin issues, normal every day concerns but if a dog or cat had a seizure, hit by a car, not able to breathe, etc. it's all hands on deck and that dog or cat is rushed in. This isn't a "normal" Vet this is where you go if you are okay with waiting and want your dog or cat to have the best care they possibly can have. I know going in there that I'm going to most likely wait and with every incredible thing I've seen here I will wait as long as I need to. Starbucks down the street is my best friend and I've worked in the Vet's office with my laptop countless times. People go here because they know how great the Vets are, the staff, just everything. I also saw a post where someone said they didn't spend time with the Vet. I don't get this unless you're expecting a 30 minute conversation about a routine everyday issue. I understand that everyone has likes when dealing with a Vet and if you want that private room, with the in depth conversations about basic things, where there are two dogs in the lobby, this place may not be for you. While I personally like all those things myself I would rather go to the place where they have the best vets and staff in SD who can handle everything from basic to emergency and don't miss things like they do at other Vets. If I haven't mentioned this yet they are open 7 days a week and on most holidays as well. If your dog needs surgery, a second opinion, has standard needs, or you're ready to move Vets check out B street. These aren't just my opinions, I've spoken to countless others with dogs and cats who feel the same way I do. They won't go anywhere else.

They stay pretty busy, and the waiting area is small, so I prefer waiting outside or in my car since it gets crowded inside. They also take your dog in the back without you well before the exam, vaccines, or procedure. Just a heads‑up if that's something you care about or prefer to be present for. The staff themselves were very friendly -- upbeat, bubbly, and kind -- which definitely helps the experience. I was referred here by the rescue, so I came in for two vaccines. Even though the wait was long, everything went smoothly, and I got a call a few hours later to pick up my pup. Overall, a busy walk‑in clinic with friendly staff and straightforward care, but plan ahead for the wait and the drop‑off style.

They were very helpful in answering all of my questions and were always kind and patient with my 16-year-old dog, Cupcake. Dr. Kurowski provided great care and did everything she could to keep her as comfortable as possible in her older age. Unfortunately, during the last few months of her life, most of her care ended up through VSH as her health deteriorated. After my sweet Cupcake passed, Dr. Kurowski and her staff sent a very thoughtful card, which I truly appreciated. I strongly recommend Dr. Kurowski and her team to anyone looking for a compassionate and trustworthy veterinarian.

Sassy is a chunky snowshoe breed, 10+ years old. Her previous owner passed away from Covid, and she became part of my family in 2023. In 2025, I was devastated to learn that she has Stage 4 renal disease. Her liver is failing, and without proper treatment, her life would have been cut short. Dr. Karen Kurowski and her incredible team--Lindsey, Nate, Sunny, Hyda, and the other compassionate vet techs--have been a lifeline. They gave me a clear plan to follow, supported me with each step, and have truly helped sustain Sassy's life. She is now on the right medications, and I give her fluid injections every other day as her "second kidney." Because of their care, Sassy has been able to live not just longer--but better. What I love most about this hospital is that it feels less about money and more about what's right for the animal. Veterinary care can be expensive, especially when you have multiple cats like I do. But here, I have always felt they try to keep costs reasonable and make sure I'm not overwhelmed. They are honest, practical, and thoughtful--always focusing first on the well-being of my pets. That kind of integrity means the world to me. Today, Sassy is thriving in her "fourth quarter." She doesn't know she is ill. She lives with joy, gratitude, and happiness every single day. It is my honor to care for her, and it is thanks to Dr. Kurowski and her team that she is enjoying this chapter of her life so fully. For anyone looking for a veterinary office that combines expertise, compassion, and fairness, Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital is that rare place. I will always be grateful to them for the care and love they've shown Sassy--and me.

I've heard about some Veterinarians who tend to pad their bills with extra services and items, but until this visit I hadn't really experienced it. We brought our older (and basically healthy) dog in today because she was sick on Thursday (vomiting food & water). She felt better on Friday and today, but we brought her in anyway to get checked out. Cue the huge bill! The original estimate on the high side was $1300, and we had them lower that estimate by a few $100 by removing a couple of services including xrays. Then after she'd been there for a few hours, they indicated that she needed more tests to the tune of nearly $1000. We had them do most of them, but not all. As I'm writing this on Sunday, Cali is feeling much better, she's now on a low-fat diet, and the tests that they did all turned out negative. (We're still waiting on the results of the urinalysis.) Thank goodness, but jeez... They also negatively impacted my bank account. I'm glad my dog is feeling better, and she's worth any cost honestly, but I sincerely feel that some of things they did were not necessary, and didn't need to be done this time, or could have been pushed forward and a determination about their necessity could've been made after we made some changes and monitored her. It is what it is at this point, but I just suggest that you pay close attention to the estimates and bills at this Vet Hospital, and knowing your pet, make the right decisions for them, whatever they may be.
