This turned into a comical meal- we were trying to search pizza in Asheboro from a Hobby Lobby parking lot and it was early- 3:30pm, we were desperate for food and Sir Pizza had great reviews (on google) and we actually missed that there was a location half a mile away! Instead we drove 5 miles to this location. The dining room was empty except for us, but there was a steady stream of takeout orders getting picked up. No frills here, we were all trying to decide if it was going to be really good or really bad, lol. It was great! Pizza came out so fast! My friend got a side salad and we all split one pepperoni pie- I haven't seen chopped pepperoni since I was in school! I have to give Sir Pizza 5 stars - this is one of the best locations to get what is one of the best pizza's available in NC. This is apparently a Chicago tavern style pizza with some tweaks. The crust is thin but not overly crunchy and the toppings take center stage. It's not everyone's favorite but everyone who loves it will be back - there aren't many pizza's like this available in the state. Hometown treasure!!! Love Sir Pizza for 50 years now! When people move away and come back to visit they want to go to SIR PIZZA!! The only advice I would give is to make sure each employee is delivering the same excellent customer service. People who have grown up in Asheboro looove Sir Pizza. For me, it was an acquired taste. I learned quickly that if I want to avoid acid reflux, I should avoid getting pepperoni (or any meat for that matter) on my pizza. I love the six square slice small pizza. I usually get black olive and ask for it to be cooked a little crispier than usual. I also learned that it is best eaten piping hot. The cheese looks weird and translucent when it cools and the crust doesn't reheat well. I've recently fallen in love with the chef salad with awesome ranch dressing. The atmosphere doesn't look like it's changed since they opened. Also carpet in a pizza joint is yucky! The boothes are uncomfortable if you're a fluffy girl like me. Just ok. The husband and I stopped here on a road trip for a quick lunch. Small restaurant with mediocre service. On this particular day the lunch special was one small pizza and salad for 6.99. This is meant for one person really but I wasn't all that hungry. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and it reminded me of a Totino's pizza that you would buy from the grocery store for around $1.50. Anytime I have to go to the front counter of a place to get a drink refill because my server is awol, don't expect a good review of the restaurant. Two stars because the pizza topping were plentiful (and real pork as opposed to Medo's bland turkey faux pork) and my buddy liked the hard thin crust even though I'm more of a chewy Mello Mushroom type crust guy. Usually get good service...but working tonight..Saturday..called in an order for a friend to pick up. He went there and they said they had no order....he drove to our place of work and said they had no order....we told him what we ordered and he went back a 2nd time...still no name on order. So we called...and they said they did not put a name on the order....but...when you have a person come in twice mind you and 2nd time told them the order and they had the pizza there with no name (of which they neglected to put on the order) and still did not sell him the pizza. If your in the mood for pizza and not delivery, you should give Sir Pizza a try! The atmosphere is quiet and quaint! The lighting is somewhat subdued. The meinu is not too extensive but it is not a fast food drive by either! It is just a enough to satisfy. I ordered the small chef salad along with a small cheese pizza with extra sauce. My salad came and it was very cold and crisp. It was dolled up with ham, egg, croutons, tomatoes, carrots and the mozzarella cheese with oregano that Sir Pizza is known for. You will not find that at any of the other pizza pubs! The pizza was cooked just right! Crisp and light with extra sauce (not a fan of a dry pizza pie) garnished with the famous cheese! It was very satisfying! I also recommend the iced tea........very refreshing! There was even plenty to take home! If your looking for a change on the pizza front................Give Sir Pizza a fair shake! You won't regret it! read more
