Store Front - its a small place.
    Fred B.

This place opened a few months back in a strip center off Groometown Road. As far as I can tell this is a locally owned restaurant with no chain affiliation. It is a small place with a limited amount of seating, and seems to do more take out and delivery than eating in. They specialize in pizza, subs, burgers, pasta entrees, a few salads, and some appetizers, including wings. We tried a Cheeseburger ($5.95 with FFs), an American Sub ($5.50), and a large Pizza with Pepperoni, Green Peppers, and Onions ($12.45). The Pizza was actually pretty good, though the crust was really limp. The toppings were good, and the cheese was outstanding. The Cheeseburger was solid, with a nice flavor. The FFs were under cooked and under seasoned, but there is potential there if cooked properly. The American Sub was just OK, the roll is not at all crusty, and the meat and cheese filling was on the lite side. Would order the burger and pizza again. They have a nice online ordering system.

Ordered my food at 5:30 received it at 6:30. It was still hot I was so excited to eat I didn't care how long it took. Once I felt the warm bag I was happy again. The order was so tasty, I am glad I ordered from them tonight. Thank you. Will be ordering again.

Large chicken parm sub. Pretty decent. Tastes better than it looks.

Sam's is pretty much exactly what I would have expected. A large and varied menu of pizzas, subs, wings, and other fried and short order foods. The prices are decent, and the food is fairly good, though not a must have. Its a good take out joint for people living and working in the area, is the best way I can describe it. The interior is definitely geared toward take out, with just a handful of tables for dining in. They also deliver within a 5 mile radius. Beverages only come in canned and 2-liter form. No brewed drinks available. I had a chicken parm sub with fries and a drink. I would say the sub was very filling, had decent flavor... particularly the mozzerella and marinara sauce. Next time I would probably order the small, as it came with quite a bit of fries which filled me up. The fries could use more salt, but were otherwise crispy and OK. My wife had a calzone which was not skimpy on the toppings, and she was pretty pleased with it. Overall, I'll throw these guys a bone and give it 4 stars. The prices are good, and they are hitting their mark as attempting to undercut the other meal options in the shopping center, albeit with a slight reduction in food quality. I hope they stick around, as they are the only ones who would deliver to my house!

Upon a recommendation, I went to Sam's to get a steak and cheese sub. As you can see from the picture, it was more like a bread and cheese sub as the meat filling, which another reviewer noted was sparse, didn't even cover all the bread. Here's a tip for Sam, when you make a sandwich, especially one that is named after the ingredients, every bite should contain said ingredients. Unfortunately, this was not the case for this sub. They also don't accept the Attractions coupons, which is weird.

Grilled Chicken and Cheese Sub with fries- better than anticipated

This is my favorite spot for a simple grilled chicken Greek salad- tangy dressing, lots of iceberg lettuce, flavorfully grilled chicken, and a good portion of carrots, cucumbers, olives, and pepperoncinis. On a whim, I tried the grilled chicken sub today and was blown away. They REALLY know how to grill chicken at this place. It's a simple sandwich, chicken, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and maybe some cheese (couldn't tell) but executed great (if a little skimpy on the protein). Fries were good, they can be a bit bland sometimes or limp if the delivery is slow, but today they were well salted and crispy.

The vibe here reminds me of "Cheers," where everyone knows your name. The restaurant is in a 1950s renovated service station and was transformed into a neighborhood bar. I like the large glass windows and copper ceiling tiles in the dining area. There is a bar next to the dining area, and some outdoor seating, too. They even have a parking lot in the front and another in the back of the restaurant. You seat yourself, and someone will bring you a menu. Since I discovered this hidden gem a few years ago, when all the other restaurants were closed around New Year's Eve except for Corner Slice and Fisher's Grill, I make a point of returning again and again, as I just love it here. It is usually my first stop in town, and I look forward to my large margherita pizza with balsamic glaze. I'm not sure why I look at the menu, as I always order the same thing. But I am still given time to look over the menu, just in case. The pizza has a thin, crispy crust that was so good I managed to eat all but two slices! I highly recommend adding the glaze; it really makes the flavors pop. A lot of the specialty pizzas are named after neighborhood streets. The Elm, Bessemer, Hendrix, Leftwich, Isabel, and Magnolia. The Park and Fishers Finest are named after the area. The neighborhood bar has 14 rotating beer taps. There is a large selection of appetizers, including wings, grilled cheese, chicken tenders and some dips. If you aren't in the mood for pizza, they have a good variety of salads and subs. Service is top-notch here, and the staff is so welcoming and attentive. The prices are reasonable, too. I like that they brought out a plate and silverware with the pizza tray. I am already looking forward to my next margherita pizza. If I lived closer, I'd be eating here every week!

She was very nice, but only filled our drinks one time and didn't ask us if we wanted any other drinks. The pizza was delicious, but it came out cold as if they didn't serve it right away. I would go back but maybe on a different night to see what the service was like on another day. Overall, it was an OK experience.

The interior is large and open with plenty of tables, a fun bar with TVs, and a really nice patio. Parking is easy with a dedicated lot that has more than enough space. The bar menu is bigger than expected with craft beer, a wide range of wines and specialty cocktails, even craft beer flights if you want to try a few. The food menu offers a solid variety as well, including appetizers, salads, meatballs, pasta, and of course their wood fired pizzas. The brick oven is huge and puts out some serious heat! I went with the Rustica on this visit. Prosciutto, mushrooms, roasted garlic cloves, artichoke hearts, and kalamata olives. Everything was portioned well and the flavors were great. The crust leaned just a tad bit dry and well done, but overall it was a very tasty pizza I'd happily order again. Brixx is a strong option for a quick lunch, happy hour with friends, or a relaxed outing with family. I'm glad I finally tried it and I could definitely see myself returning.

I got 3 bacon and cheddar pizza balls with ranch - amazing as always. He got a double pepperoni and onion personal pizza and 6 boneless wings with fries. All the food came out hot and fresh and is definitely better when you dine in (although the to go food has always been hot, it's just not the same as dining in). I finished with the garlic cinnamon knots - my only complaint is the icing is vanilla and not cream cheese, but the knots were so sauced in cinnamon sugar it didn't matter. While I've always wanted to explore the menu more, these are so good. You can't pass them up so I ended up getting them every single time I went. I've now moved back to town and at least to start the selection hasn't changed lol. I made a visit here and as I mentioned, got the pizza balls again. It had been many years so I had to indulge. They were as good as I remember! My favorite has always been the pepperoni ones. Make sure you get these with the marinara sauce, it's a great combination to dip the ball in this sauce They also have the bacon and cheddar, which is also a good option. Get the ranch dressing with this. I promise this time that I will explore more things on the menu, and maybe just get 1 pizza ball ;) can't wait to go back!
