He accidentally got to close to one of the fence poll and sliced his side open. He is fine but unfortunately did have a trip to the emergency vet and got a few stitches and antibiotics because of how deep the cut was.

Sophie, our 3 year old doggie, loved zooming through the woodsy areas and just had a great time. We met up with 3 or 4 others, with their dogs well behaved and social as well. It can get a bit muddy as expected, so just be ready to clean off paws later. We had Sophie wear a little windbreaker light jacket, as once you get in to the woods more deeply it does get chilly. There was a muddy creek, but small, and hear a fun little 'bridge' to go over. Not much for squirrels or chipmunks, but we walked around the perimeter and it was well fenced in. There was also a smaller fenced in area, as you entered the main entrance I think, there are several entry ways, for small doggies. Google the directions and then verify. The first google maps took us way out of the way from a Gig Harbor start point, so we think that the address may not be completely accurate on google maps. Once there we parked in a nearby business lot, and walked over to a secured entry. It had 2 gates to go through, both secured and nice, esp for excited pets. We brought along our usual, poo bags, treats to practice recall skills, water bottle, and travel dish. You can spend up to 1-2 hours walking about and meandering through the little internal off trails. The trails are easy around the perimeter, and then more hilly and rustic in the interior towards the little creek.

There's been "special locks" in the morning that only certain people had the code for, they park wherever, and can come off as rude. However.... understandably so as some dog owners either don't know how to control their dog, or don't even try to pick up after their pet. I've witnessed a lot of aggressive dogs here. Even an owner punching his dog for having a grip on another's dog neck. *This is not a park for training * If you're unsure hire your dog acts, try a muzzle or something. The park can also become very dirty and rank. Early morning regulars are the chillest but in the afternoons it can get interesting. If your dog is very chill and gets along with others, highly recommend one of the two off-the-leash trail parks by Port Orchard.

It's super fun to watch the big dogs run and play real hard as they do, but I'm always looking for the puppies and young dogs to come play with my very old toy poodle here. I've encountered some very nice people and I always appreciate meeting people who love and take good care of their furry ones. It's amazing how many people actually have rescue dogs, like I do, from Humane Society and other rescue centers. I'm a complete believer in the idea those of us who can, actually make the effort two help those dogs that have been thrown away. It's pretty clear that these dog park going families care about their dogs because they're here taking time in the dog park rather than just putting their dog out in their backyard or walking them in their own neighborhoods. It takes time to drive to a dog park, especially this one for me, but it's worth it. Oh, and attach to the park is a walking trail.

The paved road is a tiny ribbon with edges that teeter off into the dirt - not gently sloped. City of Poulsbo Parks and Recreation department has liability here - waiting for the lawsuit shoe to drop. Once inside however, you can enjoy several nature interaction features, even nature solitude, while the children's playground has been revamped as of 2025. The park manages to fit in many things such as the following -- * A designed, interactive, children's educational garden managed by trained "Master Gardeners." Here, tons of produce are grown and donated for charitable food distribution. Imaginative and whimsical garden sculpture will draw surprise delights, and thoughtful plantings offer live lessons of ecology. * A "community garden" with multiple raised growing beds, where citizens rent a "patch" to grow their own fresh vegetables (and it has a compost pile in the back if you want to drop off your kitchen scraps). Rent includes gardening tools, watering hoses, and a generally well-run operation. * A skatepark, basketball courts, picnic shelter with multiple picnic tables for the community to hold events * A fun quirky children's playground with fun swings and slides * A view through the trees and downhill, of Poulsbo's downtown and harbor, flanked on the far horizon by the Olympic mountain range, an excellent place to watch a summer sunset. Sadly the park benches face in the opposite direction from this jaw-dropping view--back towards a worn walkway and old picnic table. The imagination of bureaucracies and their workmen of how people might behold nature and appreciate its grandeur is seriously impaired (such a view of the Olympic Mountain Range and they set up seats facing the opposite direction?!) * A few single-track foot trails into the woods around the perimeter of the flat, artificially planted lawn lead into wooded hillsides and offer shady nooks, rich with bird calls, to escape from the open hilltop monoculture of grass * The central flat expanse of monocultural grass is a horrendous ecological desert, a big zero--but fits the American settler desire aesthetic of claiming land into the wide horizon. (Beware the many entitled dog owners who run their pets without leashes on this wide open space, yet another City liability -- waiting to become a law suit.) This park is used by many people and is wonderful for people watching, while still having space for your own private experience of communing with nature.

My friend's dog was getting a little antsy…read moreand we wanted her to get some of her energy out prior to going to the Olympic Game Farm so that she didn't jump out the window or something else at the farm. The dog park is separated into three gated areas. The smaller dog area is ample size to accommodate at least 50 dogs and their owners. The larger dog area is also decent in size. Both areas have water stations and covered benches just in case you want to sit down and watch the dogs play. The third area is for agility testing or for dogs to run the obstacle course. I will say that the majority of the dogs that were in the large pen were very friendly and kind of minded their own business. My friend's dog did get scratched in the nose as she entered though, so her nose was bleeding a bit but nothing major. The pens also come equipped with a few dog ball tossers and other toys to keep the doggies moving as well as doggie doo bags. I did sense a bit of community here as well as there were a few posters of dogs that have passed on as well as dogs that were lost were posted and several people talked about the dogs that passed on as if they were their own. Overall, a nice place to just let your dogs run.

Brought my kids along as I usually do because they like to play with their dog and they got yelled at to stop running by the "president" I told them they are fine and ignored her. Then the lady screamed at my child calling him retarded for running. Needless to say there were some harsh words from me and another mother. They quickly posted new dog park rules after this making it more of an elderly park. Another time a mans dog had taken my dogs ball which I don't mind I let the dog play with it for a while but then my dog (a Doberman) was getting frustrated because he wanted his ball. So I went to try and get it from the dog we struggled for about 30 mins trying to retrieve the ball from the dog. All while the owner kept saying good girl and cheering his dog on in this game of take away. Oh I should also mention I was pregnant at the time. The dog stopped at the owner many times and he would just ignore me and let his dog keep the ball. This park seems to have a stigma against my Doberman even though it seems like he's the one being nipped at by people poodles If you go in the evening though at dusk you can usually avoid the rude elderly and you and your dog can actually enjoy it. This is just two times there has been many more incidences.
