During our visit to Austin, TX, we found Sirloin Stockade Steakhouse in Round Rock just north of Austin. Given the number of cars in the ample parking lot, it appeared to be moderately busy. Prior to entering the building, we took in the wafting enticing aroma of grilling seasoned meat reminiscent of an appetizing backyard BBQ. Once inside, we perused the menu screens on the wall and realized it was kids' night. We placed our order with a young girl tending the register, with neither a greeting nor a smile from her. We paid our bill, took our silverware packets, and proceeded to look for a table. A petite Asian woman greeted us and offered us one of her booths. We told her it was our first time eating at the restaurant. She took our receipt, wrote her name on it ("Shirley"), offered us French fries, hot sauce, and coffee for later, and told us we could order steaks at the grill. REVIEW Salad bar: The produce selection and freshness were decent. The croutons were fresh and crunchy. Olives, shredded carrots, and different salad dressing drippings in the different dressings were messy and unappealing. The sliced green peppers, cucumbers, and onions were too thick and chunky to top the salad leaves on the smaller salad plate. Soup bar: Two soup kettles (contents not identified), thus did not try them. The surrounding area of the garnishes was messy and the salsa was frozen. Hot bar: The fried chicken was well seasoned, hot, juicy and crispy and tasted homemade as did the baked chicken. The pot roast was really good. The meatloaf was tasty and not dry. The mashed potatoes were hot and buttery but we did not try either gravy due to their appearance. Grill bar: The cook kept a good service pace in grilling steaks. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and were well seasoned, the texture of the meat was a bit chewy. Although not too much into sausage, the sweetness of the BBQ sauce paired well with the grilled sausage. Bakery bar: The dinner rolls were a hit and miss, some rolls were hot and fluffy, and although very tasty, they had too much oil on top, while some rolls were a bit overdone and were less than warm. Some of the cookies were dry and hard and some of the cobblers were burnt on top. The banana and chocolate puddings were good, but given their messy presentation, it appeared to be due to being popular items. OVERALL (Star rating broken down by category and experience) Server customer service: Our server Shirley was engaging and attentive to our needs, she kept our table clear of used plates, and kept our drinks refilled. 5 stars. Bang for your buck: The salad bar freshness and produce options, the hot bar meat options, unlimited grilled steaks, and a few of the passable dessert options are enough to be well worth the buffet price. The fountain drinks are separate from the buffet price but are refillable. 4 stars Ambience: There was pleasant music with reasonable sound level in the background and professional photographs of colorful appetizing food items hung on the walls. The entrance and cash register had St. Patrick's Day decorations creating a welcoming and festive feel. For those who seek a more serene dining experience, the adult and child chatter were noticeable with some children actively moving around, perhaps due to it being kids' night. In general, the customer base and the unfriendly, inattentive, and disengaged staff was consistent with a low-tier eating establishment. 3 stars. Organization: The bars did not have food item labeling such as with the soup kettles for content or on the rest of the bars for items not discerned visually. 2 stars. Cleanliness: There are advisory signs taped to the bar glass for adults to serve children, yet there were one-too-may young children serving themselves and making a mess while in the presence of bar attendants who were oblivious and without action. There were pieces of food or drippings on the floor. Stains on walls and cabinetry making the interior appear somewhat dingy, unkept, and worn. 1 star. Sanitation: The ladies' restroom had toilet paper on the floor inside and outside the stalls, with unflushed toilets and dirty toilet seats. The metal stall doors had smears. Paper towels scattered on the floor and outside the trash bin. The triple sink counter was messy, the large mirror was splotchy, sinks and fixtures dingy. This is my very first review ever of my Sirloin Stockade CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE but I am happy to do this because now a days it is not easy to find a service employee who is courteous, educated, well mannered, who truly understands customer service and who is pleasant to the eye with their appearance...all in one package. Dora is this kind of employee at Sirloin Stockade. We first met Dora before the pandemic when she was our server at our first visit to Sirloin Stockade. She was very friendly, well spoken, professional, and her face was beautifully done, which made her even more pleasant as my husband said because she smiled the whole time we were there and took very good care of us and kept her section very clean. Since our first visit, we would come on Sundays two or three times a month and would seek Dora's section even if we had to wait. We were bummed when we were told that Dora was no longer a server but was now the cashier on certain shifts only. My husband and I came one Sunday and were greeted by a familiar smiling face at the register. Dora told us that she would be handling the register when on shift and as usual had her pretty face made up with her beautiful friendly smile and consistent professional engaging manner even when dealing with rude and nasty customers especially on Sundays when the line forms all the way outside the restaurant, which she handles brilliantly and quickly all by herself and while maintaining a welcoming and friendly attitude especially with all those kids! We truly miss when Dora is not on shift. One of the best things that Sirloin Stockade has is having an employee such as Dora to be the first thing customers experience when entering the restaurant. The food is great and they always have enough choices and varieties of foods. The steaks are really great and the prices are reasonable.

This place is awesome. I am an Outback Steakhouse and the steaks are amazing . Everyone is so friendly and the place is clean.
