I've ordered the Khao Soi off the Street Food Menu three times now, and I very much like it.. Khao Soi, a Northern Thai dish, is a mild curry-flavored soup with chicken pieces and topped with crispy egg noodles. With your order, Sisters Thai gives you a little plate with diced mustard greens, shallot and pickled cabbage. You mix these accoutrements into your soup to create an amazing texture and flavor. And wow, Sisters Thai is sure generous with the chicken portion in the Khao Soi. I've been a big fan of Khao Soi since having it the first time at the late great Pok Pok in Portland, OR. JP ordered the Crying Tiger, also on the Street Food menu. I might bet some money that the name of the dish ties into the spiciness of this dish. Crying Tiger is sliced grilled steak accompanied by a vegetable mix of baby corn, bell pepper, snow pea, carrot and broccoli. The sauce that comes in a little cup with the dish is delicious. What immediately catches your eye is the theater-type marquee above the bar, which boasts information about the restaurant. We ordered the Reminder and Lily of Flowers for drinks. I like that on the drink menu, they show you the sour and sweet levels. They were spot on with the Reminder, as it was just slightly more sour than sweet. It's something I would recreate at home. The Lily of Sisters was balanced but not my favorite. For dinner I ordered the Crispy Duck Ka Prow was a side of wide noodles. Flavored to perfection I had the green curry and drunken noodles. Both were outstanding - highly recommend. We brought some wine for outside though they do have a good selection of spirits. They have a corking fee of $15 should you bring a bottle from outside. There's also a delicious bakery "Magnolia" that's inside the restaurant. Drunken noodles were not good. My broccoli and tofu were cold. Left me a little disappointed although we came pretty late at 10pm. They close at 11. Spring rolls were very hot sauce gave them flavor. Honey something and had bourbon in it, fairly solid drink. I also had the calamari, sister wings, crispy wontons and steamed dumplings. Calamari - 7/10 not as tender as I would like but the batter and dipping sauce was good. Sister wings - 8/10 they had a great crunch and were served with a sweet chili sauce. This is not your average Thai place. It really blew me away with the authenticity of the dishes, uniqueness of the flavors, and clean, fresh ingredients. The menu is very vast, but honestly you cannot go wrong. We went with menu items not often found in other Thai places such as Khao Soi and Som Tum Set. The Khao Soi was not as spicy as expected, but the curry broth was rich, and there was a ton of chicken, we counted probably 5 whole chicken thighs inside! The noodles were also delicious and had a good pull to them. The Som Tum Set chicken was very sweet and had a good sauce. The salad was extremely fresh and had great texture, flavor, and amount of spice. The Donald rolls were the perfect size for two to split. In regards to seating, the restaurant is a little bit crowded. It's good for a large get together, but for two people catching up, the din of the conversation and close proximities of the tables make it difficult to have a good conversation. The atmosphere is beautiful and fun. There's a bar as well with a wide variety of drinks. The building is extremely new so it's very clean on the inside and outside. Cappuccino was delicious! I didn't even know there was a Sister's Thai in Old Town. We headed her after a work outing at the Plant House next door. It was about 6pm and we were ok without a reservation. I had parked in the parking garage down the street, it was free on the first floor. I got the Gai Grob Kaprow ($22) and The Lily of Sisters ($17). The prices are not cheap, but the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, the food is decent, and the drinks are good and visually pleasing.
