Ahi nachos, Brussel sprouts, chicken sandwich & fries
    Amanda M.

This was the perfect place for a beautiful outdoor lunch. Their patio overlooks the water and it was nice watching the boats pass by. The shrimp skewers were okay. The ahi nachos were good, I didn't eat many of the wonton chips because I thought it would be way too heavy, but there was a decent amount of fish. The Brussel sprouts were SO GOOD. The glasses they give you for water are really small, maybe like 6-8ounces and they leave a carafe at the table, but that was tall and skinny, maybe 20ounces. Since it was hot, we were drinking it and it quickly emptied. That's my only minor complaint. This was a very nice spot for a casual lunch by the water.

This restaurant I located on the water near an airport so the experience is always unique. From yachts, to kayakers to fishing boats trolling by to planes literally flying overhead as you dine. The restaurant is great for special events indoors and features lovely outdoor seating complete with a koi pond and outdoor bar. Over the summer a pair of osprey had two to three babies in a nest you could see from your table. Some of our favorite items on the menu have been their salads, the smash burger (ask for lettuce, tomato and fresh jalapeños) as well as the chicken sandwich. On one occasion they had gyoza as a special and it was delicious. On this past weekend we shared the smash burger with a side house salad. This house salad did not disappoint. Service can be iffy as it was on this visit, but food and ambience are great.

Fuzzy ducks on tap! Dozen oysters! Off to a great start! Love the ambience and variety of the menu. Service was excellent. Food is very good. We will continue to make this a regular stop.

Honestly, if it wasn't for our server Jesus, I'd probably rate this a 2. Even then, I wish I could rate it a 2.5. But his attentiveness and ability to manage our large group was impressive. I started out with a Manhattan - ordered it "up" but it came out on the rocks. To make matters worse it was not good at all. For an app I got the lobster bisque which, while it did taste good, was more like a chowder - it was chunky and light - not rich and creamy like a bisque should be. For dinner I wanted something fresh and light so my best option was sushi but the rice was so thick and just heavy overall. The view is nice, great little bar area with tables and corn hole outside. If you decide to come here, keep it simple with a beer and a sandwich or burger and I think you'll be pleased.

Without a doubt it is a perfect place for seafood, the calamari were very delicious and crispy, the oysters super fresh, I loved them, the ribs were not quite my taste their flavor was not really fresh and it was cold, the mashed potato was delicious and the asparagus the same. The atmosphere is very cozy I hope to return in the summer to enjoy the rolls (they are only for the summer) the decoration very in line with the place, the youngest waitress very friendly, very charismatic and attentive to serve, the waitress a little older very bad attitude and I walk my dessert talking to other customers (and honestly I don't like people talking about my food and more if I'm seeing it) and my table was much earlier than where the customers were, for that reason it gave him two 3 stars just like with the dessert it Brought me the bill and we were looking for another drink. Good food, good service. Sat on the deck for lunch on a beautiful day. Can't comment on the indoors experience.

This place has a great view! It has corn hole and great water views. The menu isn't extensive and I wasn't sure what I wanted to order. I saw they offered sushi and figured why not because fish selection should be fresh. The sushi was very heavy. The rice over powered the taste and feel of the roll. I don't think I will order it again. They do have great fries! The caesar salad was ok, my croutons were stale. We had an excellent server named Jesus. He was very attentive to the needs of our table since we had a party of 14. Everything came out as ordered. Our table ordered drinks and weren't very impressed. My husband ordered a Manhattan up and it came on the rocks. Two of my friends ordered the mahi burger and raved over it. I wish I had it as my main meal. Overall, it's a spot with a view. Keep it simple and stick to hand held items. It seems to be their sweet spot.

The food was really good and came out rather quickly. We had The Classic and a salmon poke bowl special. They very flavorful. Our server was kind and prompt. The new decor seemed very nice and like they have a couple rooms for parties.

Third time here and once again really enjoyed it. The redesign of the place looks great. It is more modern, but still beachy and nautical themed. The water views are awesome. I've sat outside and inside and service was great. I really enjoyed the lobster roll. The calamari was especially delicious and crispy. The desserts sound great, but haven't had the room yet.

There wasn't much good to say about our experience at The Landing. We ordered takeaway and when I arrived to get my food it was a Where's Waldo to find an employee. No one at the entrance, no one anywhere I could see, and then an employee chanced upon me as I was wandering around and led me to the very back where the bar area was. We ordered a lobster roll with side salad and tried their lobster bao as well. We received a roll with fries, a side salad, and bao, so a little displeased at buying an extra salad from the top. The roll was in a brioche bun, which I've now discovered is not the bun for a lobster roll as it leaves an overly sweet taste which serves to assert itself over the lobster. In this case that might not have been all that bad as the lobster itself was tough and chewy, like rock lobster. The bao were much more like bahn mi, but they had a tiny nugget of fried lobster in a huge bao bun, obscured by pickled vegetables and slathered in spicy sauce. At least the fries we didn't want were tasty. Can't recommend this place, 10th place of the 13 lobster rolls we tried in CT this summer.

Stellar customer service! The outside patio is spacious and the koi pond adds a very unique ambience. I have travelled all over our part of the east coast (NY, Maine, CT, RI, MA) to find the southern fried oysters experience and I was so pleasantly surprised to trust the waiter's recommendations and try theirs and the oysters were to die for! Crunchy, cooked to perfection and extremely flavorful! The mahi sandwich was super fresh and had an explicit flavor! Love that the dishes were not covered with french fries to make up for space but were just enough! Lobster roll had a generous meat portion. Fish sandwich was tasty and crunchy, like it should be! Would highly recommend for a nice summer evening!

The hostess, wait staff and bartenders were all excellent and provided great service with a smile. The location on the water is a fantastic spot, particularly during the warm weather months if you like to be near to the Marina. My wife and I ordered the New England clam chowder to start, which came out right away and was delicious. Our entrees unfortunately took a very long time to come out from the kitchen from the time that we placed our orders. It was just over 45 minutes. This appeared to be a kitchen staffing issue as we saw several other tables having a similar issue. We both ordered the stuffed sole which came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We were disappointed with the ratio of fish to stuffing in that they were using smaller, thin strips of sole, wrapped around larger portion of stuffing. The stuffing was mostly bread stuffing and it was not so flavorful. So, while we were served plenty of mashed potatoes and stuffing, the fish portion seemed very small. We plan to try Outriggers again when they are offering their full menu as it really is a lovely place with friendly waiters and waitresses , who repeatedly apologized to us for the slow kitchen on this particular day.

A Shore Thing: Diving into Delight at Lazy Lobster 6…read moreBroadway, Milford CT. Nestled along the shimmering shores of Walnut Beach in Milford, CT, the Lazy Lobster (now under new ownership) beckons with its inviting charm and coastal allure. Upon entering, you're immediately enveloped in a warm, nautical atmosphere adorned with marine-themed decor--think driftwood accents, maritime photographs, and vibrant hues reminiscent of the sea. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore creates a soothing soundtrack, while the salty sea breeze mingles with the aroma of fresh seafood, making every breath feel like a mini-vacation. The outdoor dining area, complete with charming tiki umbrellas, invites you to soak up the sun while enjoying your meal, offering a refreshing breeze from Long Island Sound. The restaurant features two bar options: the front bar, which overlooks the street and opens to the outside, allowing you to sip cocktails while enjoying the coastal vibe, and the back bar, a full-service bar that's cozy and enclosed within the restaurant, perfect for a more intimate setting. The menu reads like a treasure map for seafood lovers, boasting dishes as fresh as a sea breeze. The standout is the Lazy Lobster Roll, available in three sizes: the 4-ounce, the 6-ounce, and a generously portioned larger option. Each roll is piled high with succulent lobster and served on a buttery baguette (yes, you read that right--a baguette!). You can also opt for the hotdog bun version, inviting you to dive in with reckless abandon. Accompanying it are crispy fries and tangy coleslaw, creating a delightful contrast to the richness of the lobster. My companion tried the butter-poached lobster tacos, which come with tomato salsa, avocado, and lime-cilantro dressing, showcasing the ocean's bounty wrapped in corn shells--delicious, even if she prefers flour tortillas. To wash it all down, we sipped on cocktails: the Lucky One High Noon Lemonade and the house Margarita, each refreshing as a dip in cool ocean waves. As you savor your meal, tales of Milford's rich maritime history add intrigue to the experience. The area is known for Charles Island and Captain Kidd, with whispers of lost vessels and ghostly apparitions of sailors who never returned. This lore enhances the atmosphere, making each bite a connection to the sea's mysterious past. Quinn, our server, embodies the spirit of the restaurant--welcoming as the tides returning to shore. Her extensive knowledge of the menu is impressive, and her willingness to share stories about the Lazy Lobster's history makes the dining experience feel personal and engaging. Her attentiveness and friendly banter create a sense of community, reminding you that good food is best enjoyed with good company. The Lazy Lobster is more than just a restaurant; it's a "catch of the day" in every sense. With delectable dishes, a vibrant atmosphere, and service that feels like a warm embrace, this beachside gem promises a "whale of a time" that lingers long after the last bite. If you're seeking a taste of the coast with a sprinkle of local charm, this is the place to drop anchor.

Was able to get a same-day reservation on OpenTable, which in retrospect is probably a bad sign.. Arrived at 5:25, hostess (not super welcoming) sat us right away. And we sat. And sat. And sat some more.. Servers were passing by and no one acknowledged us at all except for the bus boy who gave us water when we first sat down. We were sitting outside on the patio on the side of the building; we were next to other tables that also have people sitting there. Bus boys and servers must've passed us 20 times and just ignored us. After 20 minutes! I was finally able to get the attention of a server and let her know that no one had even taken our drink order yet. She assured me that our server was coming. Another 10 minutes went by, the same server realize that we were STILL waiting, and seemingly went inside to tell our server to wait on us. She finally arrived (we had been waiting 35 to 40 minutes at this point), no apology. Ordered our beverages and also told her we are ready to order food. Ordered a shrimp cocktail, the cheese garlic bread, a ribby roll and hot buttered lobster roll. And then we waited. Lol Drinks and Shrimp cocktail came right away. Shrimp was fresh, cocktail sauce good. Garlic bread never arrived. Entrees took a long time. We heard another server telling the table behind us that the kitchen was out of french fries. They never told us that but when the ribby & lobster rolls arrived, there was just a very small amount of fries on the plates. The lobster roll comes in three sizes now all varying degrees of expensive.. They do still have the same fresh baked rolls which is really what makes this lobster roll so good. The lobster was fresh, Unfortunately, I did not see any tail meat at all. It was all claw meat. I did look inside at the renovation, it's very nice, looks a little bit fancy for this type of beachside establishment. I mean, it looks great, but it was fine the way it was. Now it feels like they had to raise prices on the food to help pay for the remodel. The food that I had was still really good. I still do love their lobster rolls - those rolls really makes it for me. However they need to make sure every roll has tail meat too. The service is the real issue here. The hostess and servers and bus boys all look to be pretty young. They were pleasant enough, but seem to have no direction or motivation. I think with the right person managing them they'd be fine, but apparently they do not have a competent person in charge of these servers. There is absolutely no excuse for Customer sitting there for 25 minutes before they're even acknowledged. No apology, didn't get everything we ordered, yeah, just not a good experience.. with this type of service, they are not gonna stay in business long. At this point, I think they had been open about a month? Maybe they still need time to fully drain staff and get it together? I really hope so. It wasn't even super busy. I am willing to pay more for good food and service. But this was really pretty unacceptable .

Milford's restaurant week was happening, and Costa Peru was on my list, so I decided to go there. My family ordered seafood, while I went with the Peruvian Chicken Wings topped with Peruvian Barbecue sauce, Ceviche Chicken Wings, and Lomo Salado. I was particularly curious about the Ceviche wings because I'd never heard of them before. The ceviche sauce is inspired by Aji Limo Ceviche, a lively Peruvian dish featuring fresh, raw white fish like sea bass or flounder "cooked" in lime juice, seasoned with citrusy, spicy Aji Limo peppers, red onions, and cilantro. It's usually served with sweet potato, corn, and leche de tigre (tiger's milk), offering a tart, spicy, and refreshing flavor. The Ceviche wings were fantastic. They had a bright citrus kick, and I could taste all the distinct flavors, including the spices and chilies. They really hit the spot. The barbecue wings were just as enjoyable, with a sweet yet tangy sauce and perfectly seasoned chicken. The Lomo Salado was also a hit; the rice was fluffy and full of flavor, and the tender Lomo meat practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, I ordered the flan. It was my first time trying it, and I was curious about the taste. Honestly, I didn't care much for the texture, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. My son picked the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, which was pretty good. It's not something I'd order again, but I'm glad I tried it. The service was excellent, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning and trying more dishes from the menu.
