I don't even feel like they deserve the one star. Honestly the inconsistency of them checking ID's is absolutely disturbing. My friend and I went here a few months back and the bartender taking care of us took our ID's. Okay that's fine. Never had them do that and I've been a regular patron since 2013 here. Sometimes they would look at it and give it right back or not check my ID at all. Whatever the case may be my friend and I looked suspicious to this bartender and she took our ID's didn't tell us where she was going and was gone for 15 minutes. Now any person knows that it doesn't take 15 minutes to swipe an ID. A different person came back and gave us our ID's and only my friend a piece of paper saying that all the info she was providing was accurate for her to be served. Didn't say anything about my ID. We decided to leave after not being told what was going on by anyone and why our ID's were held for so long for being REAL. I've been multiple times since then and have had various servers and never had issues with the validity of the card there since that day. Tonight, The same friend and I decided we we're gonna go since she hadn't been there with me since that incident. We had the same bartender and she took our ID's to run them again. She didn't even have the gall to return our ID's and the manager came over instead now with two papers saying that we both need to fill them out to get served yet month previous there was no issue at least with my ID. Why are they having me fill this out now? You're guess is as good as mine. I don't actually think they have a card swiping machine because everything seemed so sketchy about the situation. She told my friend and I that our issue dates doesn't line up with the year these new ID's were released since one of our cards said issued in 2017. Neither ID had been issued in 2017. She was uneducated regarding the new ID's and had her facts wrong. She's a manager at a Bar Restaurant and you don't have a clue about these new ID formats. Yet I have seen them serve to people older than us and not card but they are supposed to card every person purchasing alcoholic beverages. That bartender obviously had some issue or still doesn't know how to check for fakes but honestly never felt so embarrassed for them. I have never seen anyone else go through these papers before just to be served a drink. I understand underage drinking is a huge issue so then be consistent on how you're checking ID's. I've had countless drinks from this place and almost never had to deal with this. Now my card is coming up an issue and months ago it didn't. Something isn't adding up here and it's sounding fishy. Your management and staff should be ashamed to be putting out service like this. Her final note to me when I ask her if I have to Fill one form out too. She said and I quote, "yeah why not" wait wait wait um what? Why would you say that if you weren't questioning the validity of my card. Absolutely bonkers to me. You're just allowing this employee to harass the same patrons and it's ridiculously unprofessional the way the MANAGER spoke to us. I've had this same ID scanned numerous times and never once had an issue but this "supposed existing scanner in the back room of this restaurant can conclude if it's fake or not". Get your staff on the same page about checking ID's or stop singling younger customers out and profiling us. The crazy part is I'm in my late 20s. Just absolutely ridiculous. Could I have signed the paper? Absolutely not. I'm not putting my info on anything. The incompetence is unreal. read more

I went for the first time with my daughter and son-in-law and 9 month old grandson. We went for lunch. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, which was fine. Little did we know that despite having a stack of high chairs there was only one for the high top tables and booths and it was being used . The rest were for the only 2 tables in the place. Time to invest in high chairs that are for 95% of the tables. When I asked if we could please have the one high chair when they were done, I was told that another woman who came in after us got it next for her baby! Unbelievable! My daughter tried holding her son and of course he knocked over her drink. They brought a towel and didn't bring another drink until 20 minutes later after we asked. Love the filet tips and ceasar salad at the sitting duck. Recently visited and saw that on a busy friday night they allowed a child to sit at the bar. Not only is this against the law but actually the bartender overheard my conversation And it got back to the customer. She knew it was me and came over to me and started an argument. Enjoyed lunch here today with my elderly mom and sister. Arrived at 11:30 and by noon the place was filled, always a good sign. The location is awesome, not much to choose from in this area so this is a welcome addition. The building and interior are very nice, pubby, and in the warm weather they will be able to open garage doors to the outside. My table got the tomato bisque, the small plate Brussels sprouts and the Thai shrimp, and a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The food was excellent...loved the Brussel sprouts in particular...sweet, crunchy. Service was friendly. It does get noisy inside when full. Very good and hot coffees and cappuccinos. All in all an excellent lunch and we will be back soon for dinner. read more

Ok...the Duck has been around for long enough to have worked out a few of the initial kinks...met some friends for a few beers on a Tuesday night...realized I hadn't had dinner around 9:30 and thought - "I'll just get a burger", but noticed a pork chop special...so I thought lemme give this a try and see how well they're really doing. WOW. It was amazing, came with garlic-mashed potatoes and a little broccoli setup that was sauteed in some sort of balsamic deal...like a lot of places are doing b-sprouts these days...Great beer selection that also rotates its micros and yeah, a 9:30 porkchop...suspect...but they hit it out of the park. My family and I went here for the first time the other day for lunch and we were pretty pleased. There was a variety of different foods to choose from. I ordered the bang bang shrimp, brussels sprouts, and the tavern burger, medium rare. My sister's boyfriend also ordered the tavern burger, but rare. Both of our burgers came to us cooked medium, which was disappointing. The burger still tasted great but I left a few pieces because they were a little too burnt for me, although my dad liked them. The brussels and shrimp were amazing. My mom ordered the twin lobster rolls. One of the rolls barely had any lobster so she kindly asked for more and they gave her more with no problems. Friday night, was seated after 30 min wait from a hostess with a serious unfriendly attitude problem and then it took almost 20 minutes before a wait staff greeted us and this was after asking a busboy and hostess who was serving our table. At no.point was there any apology for delay just a smirk when we said we can order since we read through.the menu for past 20 minutes +. That was disappointing for a nice atmosphere. Food was very tasty but would step it up on the rolls. My chicken sandwich and my spouses burger was on a potato roll from the grocery store and half soggy. I loved the food both times I went there previously... this last time I went with some friends and ordered a salad and a hair wrapped around my tong after a bite and I couldn't get the hair out of my mouth... sooo gross... then when I told my waitress she offered me a free desert... Been there several times with hubby and relatives and every time we had awesome experience -- great food & service -- from greeters, bartender to wait staff...& even met the friendly manager/owner too! Love the diversified menu, lots of options and reasonable prices. Their "beef tips" are probably our most favorite menu item - just simply amazing with or without the side sauce. Also we had some great salads, burgers, wings, pasta, drinks/beer, coffee & deserts. Lovely stunning looking restaurant/bar - has contemporary cool look, rustic-industrial. Being a health buff and a hamburger lover , I'm constantly on the lookout for the best burger worthy of the calories my body is going to consume. No fast food for me, as most restaurants tend to have high calorie burgers that are just, well, edible. The sitting Duck has delicious burgers( comes with your choice of either salad or fries, both mouth watering) made with the finest and freshest ingredients around. Went to sitting duck tavern for the first time with some friends. Food was good, ambience was good but service was definitely sub par. Our waiter Steve was very dismissive and less than friendly to say the least. Plus he seemed super distracted and not concerned with our table. I like to order take out when I get home at nine. I call several nights in a row at 9:05 9:10 9:15. Tonight I called 17 times letting the phone ring for five mins straight as I left my house (15 mins away) after letting the phone ring THE WHOLE RIDE THERE on my Bluetooth, a girl answers the phone that the kitchen is open 'til 10 but 'hostess shift ends at 9 so we don't like to answer the phone because that's her job' so effectively there is no take out after 9 because they don't get paid to pick up the phone. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT????? Their food is great and convenient by the way but because they don't get paid to pick up the phone - no food for you after 9:00 unless you go there and wait at the bar. This rubs me the wrong way. Did I mention their food is great? But the way she said it so matter-of-fact like the Soup Natzi they can keep their food food because I can think of at least 7 local places you can order food UP TO the time the kitchen closes. To William DaSilva or whoever is in charge over there your restaurant, although the food is good, IS A JOKE. I guess you need to pay your workers an extra 50 cents an hour to answer a ringing phone. Your restaurant is comical and the response I got was even worse than the fact. She could have lied and said 'oh I'm so sorry we're just so busy tonight what can we get you' but the 'I don't get paid to answer the phone response' Keep your food no matter how good it is, may as well close the kitchen at 9 cause that's an hour of lost business for you cause you 'don't pay your workers - only your hostess that promptly leaves at 9' to answer the phone. Do a better job of explaining their job descriptions. I eat at nine and I certainly don't eat at your place anymore because you don't have someone to take my order, even though your are paying people to cook it from 9-10. Customer - lost. Over something stupid no less. Next establishment tomorrow night and going forward - the last time I saw your restaurant is on my back up camera screen - where it belongs! read more

Never post negative feedback, but had a purely dreadful experience here. Ordered a burger (medium) that came bloody and rare. No big deal, these things happen, sent it back. After a few minutes they re-delivered the remnants of the same burger (that had been cut into two halves) still quite rare and now charred on the outside. After alerting the staff a second time, the manager approached and wasted no time in throwing the waitress under the bus / explaining why the situation wasn't her fault. By the end of her monologue, I started wondering if perhaps I was somehow to blame for this blunder? Did I undercook this burger and forget about it? Riding her hot streak, the manager then went on to chew out the waitress in an area visible to most of the restaurant. At this point, I'm asking myself why I even bother leaving the house anymore. The poor waitress (who was lovely) then had to come up and apologize profusely while fighting back tears. Luckily the manager did take $5 off my $13.50 burger! $8.50 for an under-cooked pile of chop meat and a very uncomfortable dining experience. Will be actively telling friends and family to stay away. Possible the most clueless hostess I have ever encountered. When asked for a table for three,she seemed jerked out of her comfort zone, which seems to be spending most of her time chatting with friends, and craned her neck back and forth, trying to determine what of the group of empty tables were, you know, really empty. Then she took a phone call for take out. The another call came in for a reservation sore some future people at some future time. The atmosphere looked nice when we came in and it seemed like the perfect spot to have a beer at the bar. However, the service was very slow and it took over 15 minutes for my sangria. We ordered the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer but it ended up coming out at the exact same time as our food. The bang bang shrimp was all stuck together so you had to use a fork and knife to cut it apart to find a shrimp to eat. My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich that was mostly fat and cold in the middle. I got the grilled cheese sandwich with soup and the cheese was barely melted. Worst service that we have experienced in a while. Very slow. We heard servers swearing at patrons ( they must have known each other) and servers eating on the floor. Unprofessional and they might need to reevaluate their staff. Salmon was good but don't order the bang bang shrimp- it's all breading. I would say go for the drinks not the food. We asked for the bill and we proceed to watch her wrap silver wear and stalk straws. Needless to say our usual 25% tip went to 1% . My wife and I have been there several times the food is good but the service is absolutely horrible, we sat at the bar the last time we went there it took at least 15 minutes to get a drink then another 20 minutes to take our food order. The woman sitting next to me complained her beer was warm and ask the bartender for a cold mug and he said he didn't have one , I was also surprised he didn't offer her another beer possibly a cold one, she wasn't happy and she said to me there isn't many good places in Trumbull so she has to settle for this type of service. read more

Great local tavern/pub in a significantly under-served area. We had the Tavern Burger and Tavern Chicken. Both were quite good and the burger was cooked as requested. The beer list, while not huge, had some good craft brewery draft options. The space and ambience are clearly in the tavern/pub tradition, although slightly more upscale and the service was prompt and helpful. The outside patio also looked very pleasant.
