Knowing that weekly Mac is able to get out for a real hike is truly invaluable for us. He can be very shy around new people, and everyone at Two Chicks and a Pack have been so patient and taken the time for him to be comfortable. Aside from just the exercise, Mac has gotten so much out of structured socialization with other dogs and people. They've made it easy for him to be picked up/dropped off when we're not home. They already plan to remove a lot of the website transparency, such as the names and profiles of trainers "because they don't want to have to update their website often," which of course indicates major turnover and instability. I hated the crate. They tried everything to help me get used to it but I just couldn't. I'd bark the day away and drool all over the place out of stress. If they left me out of my crate while they went away, I'd get really scared and chew up their things or go to the bathroom on the floor. I didn't want to be bad but I just hated being alone. Now my parents take me to Wag-a-Lot! I get to play with my friends all day long and I never have to be in a stinky old crate. Even though I'm a big girl, I get to play with the little dogs because the staff really paid attention to my personality and saw I was playing more in that yard than with dogs my own size. I appreciate them looking out for me! My parents say they can see me playing on the live camera feed online. That sounds cool. Maybe that's what they do all day while I'm playing. Sometimes mommy picks me up a bone or treat from their great little shop as we're leaving and that makes me happy. I get to stick my head out of the window on the way home and smell all of the lovely Reynoldstown air as we cruise down Memorial. Yay for Wag-A-Lot!

I received a phone call…read moretoday informing me that my dog has apparently had ongoing issues with rough play with other dogs -- something I was never told before. The only communication I ever received was that he had been moved up to the large yard, and it was presented as a positive/congratulatory thing, not as a behavioral concern. During the call, I was also told that my dog is often kept in the den for much of the day and mainly gets time out with staff members because he seems stressed in the den. As a pet owner, it was upsetting to learn this had apparently been happening for some time without my knowledge or consent. I completely understand that not every daycare environment is the right fit for every dog, and I appreciate them trying to manage situations safely. My issue is the lack of transparency and communication. If my dog was struggling socially or spending significant time separated from group play, I should have been informed immediately and consistently. Because of this experience, I'll be looking for another daycare that communicates more openly with pet parents.

I adopted Samson on a Monday and needed a dog walker for the next three days...a nurses shift is far too long to leave a dog home alone. Kelli came to the rescue! Even though it was so last minute she came over and met Samson that night. Truthfully, I could tell it was love at first sight for Sam. She greeted him with a big hug, pets and kiss. Made me feel like my pet was going to be in good hands. Since that day Kelli has been working with my overly rambunctious Boxer Mix 2-3 days a week. I opted for her "playcare" option to give Samson more time out of the house and more time spent getting socialized with other dogs. Samson loves to play with other dogs but is a little socially awkward and needs a little guidance. Kelli, an incredible dog trainer, has been great at working with him om that. Doggie "playcare" is more than a walk, she picks Samson up and he goes all around town with her. They go to the dog park, on other dog walks, and on their own walks. Most days she will take him for 6-7 hours. I love that I can come home exhausted from work and not feel guilty about not taking Samson on another walk because he's equally as exhausted! $25/day for playcare. Kelli also does boarding and vacation walks. She has done boarding for us. Samson gets to stay at her house, play in her back yard, and she'll crate too if the human wants that. Another awesome perk for Kelli's boarding? She even picked up and dropped off Samson since we had both an early departure and late return flight. She also only charges $40/night. Like I said before, I can't say enough great things about Kelli. She loves the animals she's with and makes everything incredibly convenient!
