Not only is the food incredible (we ate there twice in our vacation week), the service was outstanding. Everyone is so friendly--you file like you live in the neighborhood. My fiancé and I were really excited to try the new breakfast joint in town. We get breakfast fairly often but always go to the same two restaurants since we know the food and service is great. Anyways we decided to give it a shot. From the start we were hesitant. Took about 20 minutes to get sat, no big deal seeing as it was pretty busy. Menu was pretty well rounded. Lots of vegan and gluten free options for the wife, and lots of hearty meals for me. They have the usual, pancakes, eggs, skillets, etc, and they also have a few hipster options like the zucchini bread waffle, or Challah bread French toast. Our server, Donna, was great, she was attentive, friendly, and helpful. What really dragged this review down was that we were sat at 11:50am, ordered the basics (1 waffle, 1 omelette, toast, eggs, and bacon) and did not get our food until 1pm. It took 1h10m to make something we could've whipped up in 20 at home. The server was extremely apologetic, and we knew it was not her fault, but waiting an hour for breakfast and ultimately getting over cooked items is not a fun way to start your day. The omelet was great, no complaints, but the waffle was burnt to a crisp. We will give it one more shot. Nope, not worth it. We waited about 40 minutes to get seated and once we were seated we were served coffee and one of the mugs had lipstick on it. The server seemed less than enthused to be there and was unfazed by the lipstick mug. We placed our order and waited an hour for our food all the while saying "maybe it will be worth the wait." We waited for our food while other people that came in after us were served their food. One of them finished eating and we still didn't have any food. Been here 3 times since it opened and have not been disappointed one. They keep improving every time we go. Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy as well as the bacon. Delicious. Staff is sooo friendly and the place is adorable. Only complain would be the parking situation- but little they can do about that. Definitely not a scratch kitchen! Country fried steak was 100% frozen out of a box, and not even a good one either. Eggs were over cooked, hash brown soggy, toast wasn't toasted, French toast was bland and cold as well. They were pretty busy, two servers for the whole restaurant. Our server was very nice. Tom's Buffet has been closed for years. Six Chicks took over the space, renovated, and turned it into a very pleasant breakfast / lunch diner. About 20 tables and a counter for me (eating alone) means quick seating in the very clean and friendly restaurant. The Veggierito was great. Service was excellent. Disappointed. Visited about 10am on a Sunday. It was busy and wait staff seemed overwhelmed. Our omelets, after a lengthy wait, arrived cold. Brown and crusty on outside. We were seated right away and placed our order and waited and waited. No food and we had others come in after us and leave. 45 minutes passed and the waitress said our food would be up next. Finally an hour passed and I voiced my concerns and our waitress stated their computer system ran out of ink and had to be resubmitted. She stated we would be first up and we were. She gave us a 50% discount. As for the food, I had the classic breakfast. The coffee seemed lower budget. Had eggs sunny side up, hash browns toast and bacon. I like bacon crispy and it was. Hash browns were a little overcooked. My wife had a ham and cheese omelet and liked it. My daughter had a waffle and my son in law had a spicy omelet which were good. Still you expect your server to keep up with your food. She did discount us and she gets a 3rd star for that, but the mistake did throw off our plans after an hour and a half meal. Tried this place after hearing good things about it. And yes, the food is quite good, especially the breakfast choices. But honestly, our family was pretty close to turning around and walking out after this greeting from the "hostess": "Well, it's one-thirty right now, and we close at 2." How do you like that? Those were the very first words out of her mouth; not "Welcome" or "Hi, how are you?" or "How many in your party?" Rather, it was a stern warning that we had arrived a mere 30 minutes before their stated closing time. Our table server, by contrast, was warm, friendly and welcoming -- everything the hostess was not. I think the owners would be well-served by re-evaluating their greeter's attitude and job performance, and possibly replacing her with someone who did not approach the job as a contest to see just how little work can be performed during each shift. read more
