This place was pretty good, but I'm not sure I would go back for food. I'm ok with a dice type bar and love a good brewery, but I wanted the place to feel cleaner. Then there was hair on my wrap and that was such a disappointment, especially after I already ate one half of my sandwich. The beer was good though so I would stop back in for just a drink. We went for the ayce fish & shrimp. It isn't very big inside but seemed clean. Staff was friendly as you walked in you were greeted The perch and shrimp were amazing. They were not heavily breaded. The perch was nice thick fillets and the shrimp while not huge were very sweet and was de-tailed. The only thing my husband didn't like was the Cole slaw. He said the perch & shrimp were the best he's had in a very long time. It came with slaw & fries btw. The pizza was good but not sure I'd order it again. It was hot, fresh and had a lot of toppings but I wasn't crazy about the sausage. My personal problem as I've heard nothing but good about their pizza. Our server was very nice and personable. (Marcus) The only thing I didn't like was it's not easily accessible if you are handicapped. There were a lot of steps to go down and to use ground level walk in there was quite a walk down through shops (nothing you'd like to do in winter). All in all we will go again, park closer to the ground level walk in which is still a little hike if handicapped and not go in the resort season or once it snows/ices - would be tricky for a handicapped person. read more

Tortillas seemed like unheated store bought. Pork tasted like bbq pulled pork, but was good just a tad salty. My brother got the buffalo wings and said they were not good - could have been because it was carry out and they'd lost crisp. But my dad and sister got the perch tacos and enjoyed them. After sampling a few different beers, I can say that the other local brewery in town has brews that are much better. The samples I had just seemed to like character and individual taste. Service was a bit slow, especially since it wasn't busy, but I usually don't mind sitting there for a while, so it didn't bother me much... But don't go here if you're in a hurry, busy or not. Nice little brewpub right near the water in town. They had a nice selection of beers on tap, even though they didn't have a hazy IPA, my favorite! The smoked whitefish dip was good and we both had the perch, I had the tacos and my wife had the entree. Loved the spicy sauce on the tacos and the perch had a light breading which was perfect. My wife had plenty of fish and we could have split the meal in hindsight. The only thing I didn't like was top 40 country but playing the whole time! Not all of us like country rap! read more

Super dog friendly! So glad we found South Haven Brewpub. Thank you, bringfido.com! Whenever we bring our big guy we want to make sure we can enjoy a good meal at a dog friendly spot. Once we were seated, everyone that spotted by was so friendly! The restaurant staff wanted to meet our pup. Not only meet him, they spoiled him with a pup cup and fresh water in his own bowl. Once we settled in, my husband and I ordered lunch and drinks. I ordered a local cider on draft and my husband got an ice tea since he was driving. For lunch, I got the perch tacos Cajun style. There is an option to get them plain too. My husband got the Asiago burger. Instead of fries he opted for cottage cheese. The customer service was amazing! Nice people always win! read more

We were seated quickly at an outdoor table that overlooked the river. We were helped right away and started with some drinks and hot pepper cheese curds. We both had a Moscow mule with their house brewed ginger beer. The drinks were okay, I don't think we were a big fan of their ginger beer. But they were unique and fun to try nonetheless. We were not a fan of the cheese curds. They weren't real cheese, more of a velveta cheese texture which was disappointing. I had the perch basket, my husband had the Philly cheesesteak. The waitress offered me a choice of 3 sides with my meal, I picked the sweet potato chips. (I later found out when the bill came that the sweet potato chips were an up charge of $2 for an upgrade, which was fine but she should've worded it as such) The perch was great, the sweet potato chips and slaw were okay. My husband enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak. The service was also just okay. The waitress took our order, brought the drinks, and came back to bring the check. Someone else brought the food out and the waitress never came back to check on us after the food came. Overall, not a bad experience but nothing exceptional either. We were in just in time to be seated before there was a wait. The special was all you care to eat perch, and the hubs was all in. I opted for the perch tacos &, as much as I love a good taco, that fish was so good that it was almost a sin to hide the delicate flavor in a taco. The perch was perfect fried - light & crisp, in a black pepper heaty breading that just plain worked. It was delicious (he got 5 plates down), $22/5 = winning! There was one server & a house full of people. He was slammed but took it like a trooper & was efficient enough to pull it off without much delay. Our glasses never went empty, and he kept us updated on anything we were waiting on. My beer was the nitro. The hubs hit the +15%er- our biggest hitter of the day & it went down way too easily, whew. Worst service I've ever had. The host yelled at us for trying to put our name in while he was helping another group, but they were standing off to the side (not even in front of the restaurant/host stand) so we didn't know they were being helped. After my party was seated, we sat there for half an hour with no one coming by to greet us or get us water. I finally flagged down a busboy to kindly ask if they knew where our server was and it took another five minutes for someone to finally come over. I'm really not sure how this kind of thing happens in a restaurant, especially since there were servers literally just standing around staring at us the entire time we were waiting. The food took about 20 minutes to come out. It was decent but not amazing and certainly didn't make up for the lack of service. Our server only came by to check in once (we never got refills on our drinks or anything) and it took probably another 20 minutes to finally get our check and leave after we were done eating. We come to South Haven a couple times a year and it's been a few years since we've been here for some chow. Came here for dinner last Monday, wasn't too busy and were seated right away. The outdoor seating changed a little bit since we been here last, but all for the better. We were seated right away and cruised the menu pretty quick. Our server came and we were ready to order. We were looking for something on the lighter side other than a huge burger. I opted for the Chicken sandwich and my wife ordered the Fish and chips. The chicken sandwich was pretty good along with the pilsner brew, came with kettle chips and the fish and chips (wife opted for sweet potato chips) also very good as well. Wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews, but we had just rolled in to town and went old school, which means not looking at Yelp so much but instead just finding our way in to try something out. We got a nice, shady spot outside (side note, they have a designated area for folks with dogs which is great). Had a small beer, and had heard that perch is a go-to dish in this town, so got a wrap with perch and a spicy aioli. It was great! I wouldn't eat it all the time, but it was really tasty as were the fries. My daughter got chicken nuggets that were eerily similar to McDonald's, but that's the key to her heart and she loved them. It's also right by the river and has a nice, vacation-like vibe all around. This was our only meal in downtown South Haven and glad to have stumbled upon it! read more

I want to give kudos to the owners of the South Haven Brewpub for offering $1 pints to the participants in the Lakeshore Harvest Bicycle ride. It's great to see the community supporting each other. We didn't choose this place at first because of the reviews. But after striking out a few other places, we decided to try it, and we were very pleasantly surprised! First off, the vibe is very casual and easy-going. Everything took a little bit of time to happen, but we didn't mind. We sat outside, and the atmosphere was wonderful. You can tell the staff are very hard-working because they wear a lot of hats. Our server was Mackenzie and she was awesome! Very friendly, helpful, and attentive. My wife and I both ordered tacos (one pork and one perch) and we both agreed the perch tacos were the clear favorite. Got them Cajun style at Mackenzie's recommendation and they were delicious. They also give you enough tortilla chips with your meal to take home and start your own restaurant. The inside was a little dark for our taste so we were glad we ate outside, but they do have a lot of seating available in there if it's busy. They have a good beer menu of choices brewed in-house, as well as fairly priced cocktails and wine. If we're in the area again would love to come back here! read more

Delicious brewpub directly across from our hotel. They offered us a lot of local beers and their pomegranate sour was delicious! Nice menu of typical bar fare but they had an impossible burger and fries that were delicious! We also ordered some of their pretzel bites with cheese. The server we had was so polite and attentive too. I know we can during off season but I imagine that places gets PACKED during peak summer since it's right on the water which is gorgeous! read more

The patio does offer nice shade and offers an ocean breeze. The place has a weathered look. They make some of their own brews. The sunset amber had a nice malty finish. This little brewery was hidden down the stairs and on the outskirts of downtown South Haven. I went here because someone in my group was vegetarian and they had a few vegetarian choices here like the cheesebread and veggie pizza. We came here during July 4th weekend because we wanted to be on the beach. I found this place when I was looking for restaurants on Yelp. When we arrived I noticed that the tables were fairly distanced which was nice. There was an option for outdoor seating and indoor, but it was fairly small. The tables were pretty small, we had a group of 7 and the biggest table there could barely fit 6. There was no one to greet us, we sat down and there was only a drink menu and no food menu. After looking around aimlessly for a little bit we realized there are no servers and we order from the bartender. Not to be a Karen or anything but the girl bartender didn't have a mask on either, pretty sure that's against regulations. Prime rib philly was good, didn't have a lot of meat on it, but it was good and the beer cheese on it was tasty. The pizza and cheesebread was pretty good though, I give them that. Located in an almost Disney-like crammed set of shops in tourist trap South Haven, since their location is so ideal, they could be average at best, if they wanted. But surprisingly, they have a great beer and good selection! Plus the breezes sitting outside here are divine! We both ordered pizzas, THANK YOU for having a gluten free, cauli crust! The sauce was very tasty, lots of Italian herbs visible, and the garlic butter crust was so good, that I actually ate the crusts!The only think that would have made my pizza better was if they had a dairy free cheese option. Every beer I tried was very solid. The Pow Pow Punch, Not Your Grandma's Cookie, and Peach Hard cider were all worthy of being consumed again. The only thing I'd say was a bummer, was the service. It was good when she was there, but took forever for her to cash us out, which made no sense because she does it on a handheld device! Nice place! Walking distance from shopping. Close to the water. They had a great way of accommodating dogs! There were a few tables that they had cordoned off for dog owners.
