Love the park! 2024 was the first time for fright fest and it was a 3/10 got the fast pass and stood in line and just about wasted my time not knowing I have to scan a QR code to book the ride. Only got to ride 1 ride by the time I figured it out. Besides the fact only like 5 rides were operating and didn't make sense. Talked to friends and they said all rides should of been open. Maybe it was a bad year or it was late? Going this year hoping its better because i believe in six flags and hoping they won't let us down. P.s also my boyfriend has never been to six flags so i'm trying to make the best experience for him and well they're making it hard for me.. We three came before Christmas for a fun time, courtesy of my children's free passes obtained from being employed at GA. I remember we used to come here as a season pass holder in the past. Haven't been back for a very long time, with nostalgia back to the store, incoming was the newly found aftermath of motion sickness. The Joker made me nauseated. We did three rides, walked around the park and left. A few things were noted: 1. Everything was getting run down. Their holiday hours were between 2-9pm. It was half dead with light crowd when we arrived. 2. My perspective about entrapped animal performance has been shifted. I do not support animal live show any more. Therefore we did not watch any of them. 3. Food was outrageously expensive. $20 for three pieces of chicken strips and eating in the cold were not my thing. We decided to eat outside. 4. The stingray girl annoyed me when she commanded me to "wash hands before touching.", even though I absolutely had NO intention of touching them at all. Getting a closer look doesn't mean wanting to touch. She needs to lighten up her controlling streak as people generally don't like to be told what to do. 5. Parking is a whopping $40, with a long walk to the entrance. We parked on street near Franciscan apartments on Sereno Drive. It's probably about the same walking distance to entrance as their parking lot and it is free. The risk of break-in is the same as i heard six flags security is lethargic, just don't leave any valuables in the car and you will be fine. I never like paying for parking, esp. this much. Updating my review for this year. We didn't go as much as I'd like but the visits have been good. What I like is the great staff. They are always helpful and do what they can. They seem to need better management when it comes to some services. Some operations are just really slow or inefficient and it doesn't need to be that way. The app has worked well except for some troubles with the dining pass recently. The animal events have been well run. My daughter did the painting with dolphins special and it was magical for her and the family. I hope the new owners improve some of the operation. They have a lot of unused venues that could host live music and bring in big crowds. A music festival would be amazing. read more

First time here at 6 flags for their fright fest haunted house attractions. I normally go to Great America in the past for Halloween haunted house. Not sure if the day we went have less workers or something, but it seems like they don't have enough people to be hiding and scaring people. Lots of time, it's us turning corner and walking through multiple rooms without anyone. We also saw some dressed up workers finishing their shifts and walking out of the haunted house while there are still a long line of people waiting. Really don't seem like there are enough people hired. Not worth the money we paid for the daily ticket + haunted house maze pass :( read more

Great park for kids (42" and above) with lots of family friendly rides and basically no wait on a Thursday during spring break. Check isitpacked for wait times or their online app. We had so much fun going on rides nonstop. Dear Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Guest Relations Management, I am writing to express my profound disappointment and humiliation regarding an incident that occurred during our visit to the Fright Fest event today, @1730 - 10OCT2025. For years, our family has enjoyed coming to your park, but our experience was soured by the actions of a Security Supervisor a**hole name Derek and what I believe was an unnecessary and excessively harsh punishment. My family and I traveled 40 minutes away from home for the event. As I was feeling very tired, I told my children to go in ahead of me while I rested in the car, as I was not aware of the chaperone policy details. When my kids arrived at the gate, they were informed about the policy, which requires minors to be accompanied by an adult. My 16-year-old son, who I raised to be thoughtful and considerate, misunderstood the policy. In an attempt to get inside and not inconvenience to me so I could rest while waiting, he respectfully asked a stranger if they could help him and his siblings/cousins/friends comply with the chaperone rule to get in. My son called me when Security held them, so I rushed from the car parking to see them. To our shock and dismay, the Security Supervisor immediately labeled my son's action as a serious offense, providing no warning whatsoever. He was denied entry and, most unbelievably, was given a 30-day ban. I tried to explain the situation to the supervisors and managers present, but no one showed any empathy or willingness to offer a one-time courtesy warning for a clear case of ignorance of a specific rule. The supervisor appeared to be on a power trip and lacked the common sense and compassion that I expect from a customer service-focused business. He really expects me to leave him behind by himself while my other kids are and I are in. Singleling out my son is a straight bully move. The worst part that they have completely ignored the policy by allowing my other kids to be in the park without chaperone just to get me out of the park for calling Derek an a**hole for what he did. The punishment of a 30-day ban is extremely harsh and completely disproportionate for a simple misunderstanding. My son was not attempting to cause trouble; he was trying to follow what he believed was a solution to a new rule. As a military veteran, the idea of "never leaving a family member behind" is deeply ingrained in me. I was not going to leave my son outside alone, and the lack of empathy from your staff put our family in an impossible and humiliating situation. This incident was unnecessary and has left a lasting negative impression on us, particularly my son. The supervisor's approach was bad for business, especially considering our history as loyal, annual visitors. We have never had an issue before today. I kindly request that you reconsider the ban placed on my son, full refund of my our tickets, and a one-time courtesy warning would have been more than sufficient to address the situation. This place is half zoo, half rollercoaster park! My family had a blast. They host five cheetahs, a huge male Tiger, two male lions, wolves, several friendly giraffes, beautiful exotic birds, an exotic butterfly room (rainforest trail), a couple small sharks, and a truly incredible dolphin show! Aside from the animal attractions and shows, they have several hyper coaster thrill rides that my wife and I enjoyed while our child and her grandparents watched. The MEDUSA was an incredible thrill, taking us over 200 feet in the air, up to 65 mph at 4.5 g's, with over five inversions! They also have THE JOKER, SUPERMAN, BATMAN, KONG, WONDER WOMAN, and many other less intense rides. This park doesn't host as many thrill rides as six flags magic mountain, but the ones that are there are certainly worth going on, especially MEDUSA. For the kids, they have many smaller rides and very nice playgrounds throughout the whole park, especially in the looney toons and safari kingdom areas. They also have lots of carnival games, but you have to pay extra to play them. The food is very expensive, expected as it's an amusement park, but overall pretty yummy! They let me bring in a huge water bottle and snacks. Pretty much as long as you don't have anything suspicious in your bag they'll let you in. I'd feel comfortable bringing a whole lunch box. The park is fairly accessibility friendly with a free shuttle to and from the parking lot. It does have a lot of hills though and would be exhausting for those with poor conditioning. They do offer wheelchair and electric wheelchair rentals for $25 and $35 per day, respectively, but they are in pretty rough shape. I'd recommend bringing your own if you can. The parking and direction of traffic is a bit of a nightmare, which brings my review to four stars. There is a critical lack of signage going in and out of the parking lot. I had to make several u-turns trying to find the entrance, and it took me 10 minutes to find my car when we left in the dark, but at least the shuttle got us close to the parking lot. Overall, I'd recommend this amusement park for a long day of fun for the whole family! You can easily spend 8 hours in the park between the rides and animal experiences. Bring water and snacks, your own wheelchair if needed, and be sure to study the parking lot a bit before arriving. You won't regret the thrill of MEDUSA and others if that's your kind of fun, and the kids will have a great time on the smaller rides and playgrounds! Be sure to see the dolphin show! read more

My teenage daughter and I went with a couple of friends to Six Flags in Vallejo. We decided to buy the season pass because one day price, the plus parking price-made our decision to buy the season pass and brainer, well worth the price, plus you get entrance to any of the six flags. Parking was not bad we parked towards the top of the hill the further down the hill you are, the closer you are to the walkway that leads to Six Flags. After walking towards the bottom of the parking lot hill, there was a shuttle /trolley to take people directly to the park entrance. Most people were walking and there were only about 10 people in line so we decided to get in line. It was really convenient and I think helps save your feet from all the walking. There were about four kiosks open scanning tickets and passes, letting people into the park-Each entrance had about 10 people waiting in line to go through - was not a bad experience. I don't like roller coasters. They make me nauseous these days but our teens really liked the Medusa and Batman ride, never waited more than 45 minutes to get on a ride most of the lines were within a 20 min wait. I enjoyed the swings and bumper cars. Those were quick to get on. We had fish and chips at one of the food areas by the lake, typical expensive prices for an amusement park and portion was OK. Taste was OK. The things I really liked about this park was that it was clean, it felt safe and it wasn't too crowded. I wish they had more seats and benches in the shade for parents when they're waiting for their kids to get off the roller coasters. We went on a Sunday in August arriving around noon. Oh I almost forgot the butterfly experience was beautiful. I could've spent my whole time there just watching the butterflies taking pictures. It was warm and humid inside so if it's a warm day, I'm not sure too. Many people would be in there, but it was nice for our breezy day. It was a little crowded, but most people came and went. I used to take my kids to this park when they were littler and that was like maybe 20 years ago. When it first opened, we liked the park, but that didn't last very long so I never returned. My kids are grown and they have their own kids now and my daughter-in-law talked me into buying season passes so all the grandkids could go together and we could take them there and I said OK and I did because I mostly did because I wanted to go to hurricane Harbor with the grandkids. So we ended up going to discovery Kingdom as our first park and I just don't really care for it too much. Or should I say I care for it even less but I take my grandkids there. I kind of think they're not as interested in it as the first few times they went cause they're not asking me to take them there as much. The workers there are very rude. I know it's for safety maybe but the load time for some of these rides is so slow especially the boat ride. There is only boatthat is loaded up, run through the ride to come all the way back to be loaded up again. It takes forever. Maybe they should invest in a second boat. Someone said another review that they have these big rides and then smaller rides but nothing on the in between and it's true. I've never been anywhere else where they have bumper cars and you can't even ride with an adult if you're too small to drive by yourself. They have the ride where you sit in the swing and you're held by chains and it goes around. I don't know the name of it and a little person can't ride in that but you can go over and ride the big huge one that goes really high and you're tall enough for that one, doesn't make sense. The food in the park is ridiculous price and I swear they have more food places than they do rides or attractions. And the parking lot oh my God do you think you can make it a two-way lane so one shuttle doesn't have to wait for the other shuttle to pass through the one lane to drop off and pick up passengers. This part needs a lot of improving, but I doubt that'll ever happen. The main reason I bought the passes was for hurricane Harbor in Concord and I'm not even hopeful for that one either. I'm just glad my grandkids haven't asked me to take them back to discovery Kingdom because I really can't stand it there so I'd rather go to the waterpark. I'm not too knowledgeable about Six Flags, but I purchased gold passes on their biggest deal of the year, pre-Labor Day. I haven't visited this location in Vallejo since I was in middle school, where I remember frightfully riding a pirate ship attraction and Roar (now The Joker). I also remember long lines and huge crowds back in the day... now this theme park is literally a ghost town. There were so many employees just standing around doing nothing - I couldn't imagine a place like that could exist near the bay area, where people line up for hours to get donuts or something stupid. I did choose to go on a Friday to avoid crowds, but I got so many photos of the park with literally no one in them simply because there was no one around. We walked right up to a costumed character and immediately took a photo. A band also started playing when I was their only audience. The longest wait for any ride was 15 minutes; most were walk on. To be fair, I've had friends who came during peak season recently and said it was pretty crowded with long wait times for coasters. More people came into the park as the day went on. I plan on utilizing my gold pass throughout this year, and to start, I went to see their Holiday in the Park theming. I visited after the turn of the new year, and heard that it was way more crowded in the days leading to Christmas. The decor was cute and colorful (with a few creepy teddy bears and gingerbread men), and unfortunately I didn't stick around to see the lights. The Holiday in the Park sampler gives you 4 items on a tasting card they punch, and is a good deal for $20 considering all their food is basically $20 per meal anyways. The only thing is that this year, the options were limited to soup and dessert, and at pathetic sizes to be honest. I imagine even Disneyland would sell these items for like five bucks each. The best and most filling thing to get was soup with grilled cheese. The churros were hard and bad, with a sweet corn syrup tasting "caramel" sauce - they made us wait a while for them to just burn a batch (yep it's from the oven), and then made us wait again. I didn't think I was going to get the unlimited refill hot chocolate mug (an extra $10 each mug with the sampler), but I did, and I was surprised by the durability and quality of the plastic... that's some pretty good plastic. Most of the people who served us food looked like they really did not want to be there. You definitely want to eat before and after your visit here, else pay exorbitant prices for school cafeteria food served by mean lunch ladies. The animals are surprisingly active, though questionably from restlessness of wanting out of their enclosure. I found it crazy how I'd just walk up to the animals and would immediately see activity - from the otters coming up to the glass to say hi, seals making laps, dolphins doing tricks and eating their own air bubbles, giraffes following us, cheetahs and cougars running back and forth play fighting, and even a snake trying to crawl up the plexiglass... This visit, I was too wimpy for the real rides so only tried Sidewinder Safari, a pretty neat wild mouse coaster that I actually really like compared to similar ones. Some rides were not available, but most were operating. From my initial impression, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is basically a small hybrid zoo theme park with DC Universe themed coasters, most of which have intensive thrills. They also offer family friendly areas and animal shows. The staff weren't too great, but I liked most of the parkgoers because they were super friendly and bold enough to compliment my clothing choice multiple times! I'd never see that in our next closest theme park, California's Great America. Do keep in mind that Vallejo isn't known to have the best neighborhoods, so take various precautions - I felt pretty safe with the amount of staff here and chill crowd. I walked 10k steps in 4 hrs and saw about everything (efficient walk, no shows, couple of walk on rides, quick lunch, no shopping). What I liked about SFDK was how small and easy to navigate it was. There wasn't a large crowd so there were no wait times. What was bad was the location. I don't know what it is about that area, but it's a maelstrom of weather conditions, making it a very uncomfortable environment. The glare from the sun was so bad that we could hardly see, even with polarized sunglasses on. And then there were these awful wind tunnels with intense gusts. There were rides that looked pretty tame, but my 7yo wasn't cleared to go on because he was an inch short. Yet he was tall enough for Boomerang and both he and his older brother were injured riding it. His head was pummeled by the safety harness because he wasn't tall enough to clear it during the violent twist. My 9yo son suffered a bruised spine because he was also too small. We had to go to first aid for an exam by one of the EMTs. They gave us a heat pack and told us we could buy some pain medication at the amusement park store. $8 for two Aleve pills. Food was also crazy expensive, but I guess that's par for the course when it comes to amusement park food. $20 for a cheeseburger, $20 for a turkey leg, $10 for a kids scoop of ice cream, $20 for funnel cake. As usual, food and drinks at an amusement park are extremely overpriced. Lines are insanely long and workers don't seem like they care to be there. Bought the all day dining pass and unfortunately, for the short duration of the 5 hours we were there, it wasn't worth while to have bought it. We also bought the refillable icee cups and they also were not worth it for the price and the fact that we could not find an icee refill station anywhere but the stand we originally bought it from. We came for my toddlers amusement but a majority of the kid rides were inop. Parking is far from the park but they do offer a convenient free shuttle from the parking area to the park entrance, which was nice on a hot day. Discovery Kingdom has most definitely seen better days. The wear and tear on the park shows through but I can say some effort is made with preserving its charm. I've only ever came during the busy summer season and this time around I visited on an off season random Sunday. The park had a majority of the rides down due to weather but the main attractions such as The Joker and Batman were open for us to enjoy. Staff interaction was a hit or miss. Some staff was super friendly and helpful, some staff dismissed us all together. Overall for the price point Discovery Kingdom wasn't a total disappointment. We paid $45 per ticket and enjoyed the park for about 5 hours. The rides that we were able to ride had very minimal wait times. That was a perk to coming on the off season. My only complaint really was the amount of lighting at the park after dark. A majority of the park was pitch black although it was open. Some Christmas decor around the park was also nice, although not as extravagant as Disneyland. Overall I don't think I'd return to Discovery Kingdom during off season. Went on 6/13/25 a Friday in summer and was expecting long lines but never waited more than 30 minutes for a ride with a normal pass. Bought one all day dining pass which allows you to get a meal every 90 minutes. The food isn't great and if you're vegetarian or vegan there are no options but I'm a convienance eater so made due with the offerings. Family of four at fine off one dining pass so huge savings. 1) my 14 year old nephew got stuck in one of the rides and they didnt want me to be close to him and he was already anxious and so i had to step up and had to be with him coz he was a minor and they were pissed. i needed to know what their plan was because it's been a while that he was stuck in there. 2) i bought the food package online and when i went to their customer service to help me out because the code that i have doesnt show that i purchased it, she said she doesnt know how to solve the problem. so i just i guided her and helped her out and told her to check the reference number. it took her a long time to decide. omg! 3) some of the people that assist you with the rides are just plain rude. they look unhappy. There are not any comfortable chairs in the whole park. I have two young teenagers who, according to park policy, I have to be in the park to supervise. I don't like rides but I pay for my own Six Flags membership to supervise my teenagers. The least they could do is have chairs which don't cause butt and back pain after hours of sitting. I also just tried to bring in my own foldable chair to sit in but they refused to let me bring it in. It is a no win situation for parents. I am already paying for three memberships. Please either get comfortable chairs or allow us to bring in our own - there could even be a designated area for lawn chairs. read more

It has been two years and a half since I been here. The good news is this park is opened on the weekends from 11am to 6pm on the off seasons while Great America is closed until March. Since I last visited, there are four 5 rides that have officially closed down, Dive Devil (looping coaster), Hammerhead, Tiki Twirl, Penguin water gun ride, Harley Quinn the Ride. The park tore them down and replaced them with VIP lounge or scenery with rocks and bushes. The good news is the park did open early to let all of the cars in and we showed up 90 minutes early and first ones in. We then trekked to the entrance and they have the security and people use the phone to scan the season passes which makes it very quick. They got rid of the finger print scanner as I am sure they were getting sued or something. They did let us in 30 minutes into the park and we looked around the shops. Most of the rides were not opened when the park opened The rides that were opened were 1. The Joker 2. Medusa 3. Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth 4. Batman 5. Cobra 6. Monsoon Falls - yes it was cold riding this and the boats are repainted. You do get soaked 7. Monkey Business 8. Trilla Gorilla 9. SkyScreamer - but was closed most of the day 10. Safari Sidewinder- this is a new ride, but the line moves slow and was not worth the wait. There is a single rider line, but be prepared to get really dizzy. The ones that are closed were 1. Boomerang 2. Kong 3. Superman Ultimate Flight 4. Scat-A-Bout 5. Flash We did not see any of the shows, but seeing this they are only doing exhibits and not the full shows. Why the 2 stars, well most of the rides were closed and if they were opened they were only running 1 train. Even with 1 train operations, the operators were running slow like 5 minutes a dispatch. We did see the animals which was cool, the giraffes, lions, cheetahs. The good news is the mascots showed up and we were able to take pictures unlike Magic Mountain. For food nothing much has changed. I wish they kept the sandwiches. JB I forgot to get the salad as that is pretty healthy. I ended up getting the Korean Dog which was alright. The man and woman working at flash pass booth inside the guest relations building were extremely rude and unhelpful when I was searching for a bandaid nearby for my daughter. They could have just told me to walk over to guest relations window instead of on a wild goose chase hunting for bandaids in the first aid kits of the stores, of which neither studio nor seas and rigs had any bandaids. i started off having a great day ! I was there 15 minutes before open I was able to get front row parking. the walk to and from the parking area and the park is a bit more than expected, but it was safe a protected from the road way. once inside there are several signs that say places but no indication of how far that place was from the sign. many times I'd walk in the direction of the sign and have to walk for quite a distance before finding said place. while there 4 rides broke down almost as soon as I got in line. all non water rides have cubbies to keep your safe when riding and in many cases they will take your bags if you don't set it down yourself. with the one water river ride we were told while boarding that we would be required to take everything we brought onto the float device. this resulted in all of our stuff being soaked obviously and the staff could clearly care less. read more

The great america holiday decorations look nice and all but overall this park is looking run down. It smells like weed and sewage all over the park. The kids running the rides don't look like they know what they are doing and I even saw one falling asleep at the water ride. No wonder the passes are dirt cheap. The crowds are low which is great for visitors but not for the parks bottom line. I sure miss the good old days. I think great wolf lodge is taking some of their business when I go there it's always packed. read more
