    Shredded Pork Bun 4/5 stars
    Eliza L.

Six Ping Bakery @ Beltway 8 / Beechnut (Viet Hoa Shopping Center). I really like there pastries & bun. This location does not has as much as the other location on Bellaire / Corporate (Dunhuang Plaza). I like there Durian Pie. You can actually taste the shredded durian. My kids love the Chocolate Teddy Bear Pie. One of my favorite is the Shredded Pork Bun. As for the customer service.... No greeting or no friendly service. The cashier is there so u can pay for your pastries. What more can you expect.

Awesome Asian bakery! Love the variety and the delicious baked goods. Got the taro birthday cake! It was soooo good and beautiful! Worth the $30

In case this biz page is moved again, my review is about Six Ping next to Viet Hoa Supermarket.

I used to like Six Ping Bakery until today. I think the enterprise is doing well but lacking good service. I was at this Six Ping next to Viet Hoa Supermarket for a quick grab. I wanted a cake with some bread. I saw they had decorated cakes in the cooler at reasonable prices. I didn't pay attention to the design until it was opened at a potluck party. I was a little embarrassed with poor workmanship and texture on the icing. There was no comparison with Olympic Chinese Bakery next to Jusgo that I normally go. I was only glad everyone complimented on the yule log shape, not on the ugly flowers and wreath pattern. I also picked out some colorful buns. I was a little hesitating because mochi with red beans don't sound good in a green tea bun. It was plump because it was filled with air. In reality, I was eating mochi with sweet bun. It was green, but tea taste was missing. I asked for bread sticks. None of them understood me. I had to describe the shape and taste. I almost give up but I didn't have time to get them from Little Caesar's Pizza. I ended up buying bread with cheese on top. The cashier recommended me to try the buy 2 get one free deal on lemon cake sitting by the cash register. I regretted buying them because it was so dry and sweet as hell. I needed water to wash it down my throat. I don't think I am critical on communicating. But my experience wasn't so well with 3 people attending the store. But there was only one speaking good English. Sigh. So, I moved on,

The best fruit cakes! I love the fruit cakes here. Very fresh. Not too sweet and the icing is more cool whip tasting than buttercream, which I prefer. They're perfect for special occasions like birthdays. It's easy to pick one up on the way to dinner even if you haven't made a preorder for one. They have some cakes that are on display ready for purchase. They'll even write a special message on the cake for you. This seems to be a small bakery when compared with others but they've got a nice selection of breads, cakes and sweets. I like their custard-filled breads and the soft sweet bread rolls in different colors. My son thinks it's cake and considers it to be a treat. Prices are reasonable and the location has plenty of parking. They're in the same complex as VietHoa so you can easily stop by after doing some grocery shopping. Nothing too fancy here but enough to fill your pastry needs.

Six Ping has such cute colorful pastries to choose from and they also have a nice variety of breads as well. I come here from time to time to pick up something sweet after I've had lunch. The service here is not the greatest nor the friendliest, but I'm here for the food; so I'm still in a good mood when I leave. EUROPE STYLE BLUEBERRY CAKE I really like the blueberries in this cake. It's not overwhelmingly sweet, but you can taste the fruits. The cake itself is not moist, but it's not too dry; so it still has a soft texture. TIRAMISU This is just a simple tiramisu cake in a cup. They don't use any rum or liqueur, but I do taste cacao powder so it's not too bad. The consistency is smooth and it's not dry. MANGO MOUSSE I really like that this has a lot of mangoes. If you like mangoes then I definitely recommend this because it's all you will taste. The mousse itself could've been softer, but it doesn't take away too much from the dessert itself. If I need a pick-me-up then I'll come here and grab a few things. I always wanted to try one of their cakes; so I might do that next time. They have some cute designs.

There are a few bakeries in Houston, but Six Ping is by far my favorite. I also have been to a lot of different bakeries in SF chinatown, NY chinatown, DC chinatown, and a lot of different bakeries in China (too bad there is no Yelp China). Here at Six Ping, their breads are freshly baked and constantly restocked (just because they sell out really fast). Like most things, first thing in the morning is the best time to go here. They seem to always have a new (experimental) selection every time I come in. I love their red bean bun or blueberry cream bread.. their hot dog bread is also excellent. They also sell cakes and pretty desserts but I have not tried those yet. Their prices cannot be beat, I can buy so much food there with $5 or $10. The only thing I do not really like is their steamed bun.... while it's not bad, its just average.

I lallalala LOVE there Pandan cake. We usually get Pandan cake with fresh strawberry * egg pudding filling, almond slices on the sides, and topped with fresh fruits.

My favorite is the their mango cakes! Always on point! Their variety of breads are fresh soft and delicious!

Made with way too much whip cream. Where the Cake???? :/

They don't make mango cake anymore, and the staff were rude when I asked more questions about other cakes.

Its in a less trafficked area of Chinatown and sort of tucked away in a corner of the strip mall. It has a casual pick up and go vibe, with display cases of baked goods and a couple options on the counter (dont miss the caneles). The cashier (potentially also the baker) was friendly and was super patient with us as we were making decisions and then noticing a special and adding extra goods (sorry for making you box and unbox so many times!) Anyways, all the baked goods we got were reasonably priced around $3-4. They also have some larger tiramisu options but we didn't grab any this time. I got a canele, a variety of choux, and some cupcakes. I enjoyed the canele and it had a very nice crust but the center wasn't as custardy as some I've had but regardless I enjoyed it and I also rarely see caneles so it was a nice treat. The choux were the winners for me though, filled with various creams (I got mango, pandan, and pistachio). I really liked the choux pastry and found it light and crisp. The filling was also perfect, light, held its texture and didn't spill out as I was eating it, and perfect level of sweetness for me. I also enjoyed flavor of the cupcakes but I did think they were slightly dense. Overall, this was such a great find and glad we stopped by. It may end up becoming one of my staples to have pastries for the week!

We also ordered a ube choux and two macarons (vanilla and pistachio). The ube choux was much better, the ube filling actually tastes like ube, which is pretty rare in ube-related food or drink. The choux, however, reminded me of pastry that has been sitting out for a while - kinda hard. The macarons were actually great. Flaky, soft, and the fillings were delicious. Sad that the quality has dropped so much.

You can buy them by the pound, and they offer two types: one with minced meat and the other plain without meat. Oh and the sell banh mis as well. The lady behind the banh cuon counter is friendly and helpful, and so are the cashiers. However, don't expect the ladies behind the smoothie/fresh dessert counter to be as pleasant. I've been here a few times, and each time, they've been just as grumpy so I now skip that section. I was indecisive so I asked the owner for recommendations and she chose the Mont Blanc and Total Raspberry Tart. Both pastries were perfect- the tart has a raspberry cream on the bottom and the fruit was fresh and naturally sweet. Not to mention, the crust was absolutely delicious. The Mont Blanc was just as tasty. The chestnut puree, Chantilly cream, and crust were all *chef's kiss* And the best part of it all is that the pastries were not too sweet (for those of you who are new to Asian pastries, they are meant to be lighter and not overly sweet)! I also heard great things about the mango mochi so we couldn't leave without those. Thankfully they still had some in stock. I heard they sell out quickly especially on weekends. Those also lived up to its hype. SO YUMMY! Tastes so fresh including the mangoes. My kiddo who LOVES mango anything loved them so much! My husband also got 2 savory pastries (I forgot what they were called and I forgot to take a picture) and those were yummy too. Perfectly flakey crust just like the egg tarts. Pork puff pasty (cha siu sow) 5/5 - another must get, if sweets aren't your thing or you are craving something savory then this is for you, again the puff pastry so flakey and delicious, the pork filling wasn't very much but just enough to help accompany the soft yet crispy shell, the pork was soft and and just juicy enough to not be too overwhelmed with sauce but not dry either. Wife cookie (1/5) - skip this and don't waste your calories, the puff pastry again was lovely and flakey but I think they dropped the ball on the filling, it was a bit too goopy and thick for my liking, traditional wife cookies have candied wintermelon or some other firmer additives to give it more of a textual change but this one didn't have any of that and even the puff pastry couldn't balance it out, stick to the other 2 items instead.
