It's such a cliche... mom who loves her wine. Well, if the shoe fits - yes that is totally me. I certainly love my wine. My sisters and I have a strong and close relationship. My one sister lives in Louisville so we don't get to see her very often. The week leading up to Easter she happened to be in town visiting and we decided we NEEDED a girls' night out. What better place then Sixty Four? This seriously is a perfect spot for any wine lover. I recently had a baby boy and definitely can't handle a lot of wine or alcohol right now (ya know, since it's been 9 months of nothing, my tolerance is extremely low). So the sampling of different wines at the size I wanted was perfect. You can choose which wine and how much you want. They give you basically an ATM card, you put it in the "Wine ATM", choose if you want a taste, a half a glass, or full glass and then the wine dispenses accordingly. LOVE IT! I personally sampled two wines then had a half of a glass of the wine I liked best. It was perfect for me and I want to come back again when I don't have to drive. I've never seen this before but I bet you it will be catching on and will be available at many more places soon. The whole area by Hotel Indigo and Sixty Four is darling. So quaint and fun to visit. We found ourselves in downtown Naperville trying to go to a store that ended up being closed. What to do instead? Try the new wine bar! We walked in and I am pretty sure there was a heavenly glow and angels singing over racks of wine and wine "vending machines". I was brought back to the present by being greeted by Jim, the store's wine director. He asked if we had been to the store before, and then gave us the tour when we said we had not. He asked us about our tastes, guided us through the self serve area, and gave us a run down of how to use the machines. My favorite part was when he demonstrated how to use the machine by pouring us each a sample. Customer Service at it's finest. There are 64 red and white wines that can be sampled through the machines. The machines will pour a sample, a half glass, or a full glass. Sparkling wines and beers can be purchased by the glass at the bar. We grabbed a hightop table, got a card to use in the kiosks by giving the bartender and got down to sampling. We had a lot of fun trying lots of different wines and varietals we hadn't had before. Jim was great at guiding us to new wines he thought we would like, and giving us all sorts of interesting information on the grapes and the areas where the wines originated. One "con" if you can even call it that, is that we were trying samples. It doesn't take too long to drink a sample so my husband and I were up and down a lot scoping out our next taster, which meant we didn't sit at the table and have any lengthy conversation. Next time I may try some samples, and then try to settle on one to enjoy in a larger quantity to eliminate some of the walking around. And I want to try some food! We were in on a Sunday afternoon, and it was not very busy. There were probably 3 or 4 tables of people, so it wasn't too crowded. I'm so glad me and my mom decided to come here for dinner. The outside seating is super warm and was really comfortable. Leann was an Amazing server and the food was really good. I got the goat cheese bruschetta and the hanger steak, and my mom got the short rib and we loved it all. You're staring at tall rolling metal racks of glasses; there were dish rags and buckets out in the open, etc. There was no thought to what environment the customer would want to enjoy. I'm always in the market to drink wine (umm, who isn't?!). So when we found this spot where we can test different wines, I thought we had hot the jackpot. What I didn't know was that even tasting 1oz of wine can be expensive. An ounce of wine range from $1.25 to $12.99. (Umm no we didn't taste the $12.99 ounce, too rich for my blood!) A lot of the wines were overpriced as well. The Jam Jar Sweet Shirazz was $15.99 for a bottle to go, if you wanted it opened in the spot, it was double the price. But this same wine can be found at your local grocery store for $9.99. Yeah, not cool! On to the food. I have no idea why this place is referred to as a "kitchen". The menu is limited, not really a place to eat, more so just nibble. And that was overpriced as well. The truffle fries was what I enjoyed but for that price, I'm sure you could find them elsewhere. The reason for the 3 stars is because our server was excellent. I can't remember his name, (young, hispanic guy). I don't think I will be back to this place. Very nicely done! The outdoor tent is huge and has plenty of room between tables for guests to safely practice social distancing. There is a QR code in the center of the table for you to access menus on your own devices. I ordered the southwest grilled chicken sandwich with all of the toppings (bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, pickle and sauce) with fries and a delicious $6 blood orange margarita that was on special and had more tequila in it than I expected! The breeze off the river was nice, the bugs were not nearly as bad as I thought they would be (my visit was from 2pm-3pm on a sunny day) and the easy listening music set a relaxing vibe. Trying new wine centered bars and restaurants is always exciting for me. I was excited to check this place out when a friend brought us here to celebrate her birthday the other night. The process: A staff member takes your debit/credit card, and then hands you one of their cards to use for the purchasing of your wine at the different stations. You have the ability to try different types of wine from all over the world and in different quantities (sample, half portion, and full portion). The good: The overall atmosphere of this place fits in well with the downtown Naperville area. Another main positive about this place is that dispensing the wine is easy and mess free. Most of the wines available were of a decent quality and priced around the same. ($1.50-$3.50) per sample. The bad: I normally prefer dry wines, and there was plenty of those to pick from, but they carried only 2 or 3 sweeter wines on the day I was there. My friends that like sweeter wines had limited options to pick from. With over 60 wines in their collection, I think it would be wise of them to have at least 5 or 6 wines that are appealing to customers that prefer sweeter wines. Closing tabs out at this place was a hot mess ! Danny was our waiter and it took him around 45 minutes to get our tabs closed out. A couple of us actually decided to go up to the bar area and get our tabs settled up there, and it was so much faster. I don't know if Danny was just overwhelmed with the number of tables he had or if he was distracted for other reasons, but this was not a great service experience at all. This place may even do better with a system in which the customers settle their own tabs through a phone app or electronic kiosk inside the restaurant. I lead a Meetup group and we had the most horrific experience at this restaurant. We were given one check due to having over 8 people, which is ok, but the bill wasn't itemized. We had no idea how much each person owed. We couldn't check our pour card charges to find out because the waitress had already given them to another table. When we complained to the manager, he rolled his eyes at us several times. They even held everyone's credit card and refused to give them back until I paid with my credit card (which they already had, so not sure why they wouldn't give others their cards back). Be careful- they give your pour cards to other guests BEFORE closing out your bill. Check your bank account to make sure you don't have unusual charges. For this service, we were even forced to pay a 20% gratuity! For getting eyes rolled at us! I've already told my group of 300 people that we will be boycotting this restaurant. I will never go back and I will encourage everyone I know to do the same. read more

So I discovered this wine store/restaurant today on my Naperville wine walk with my sister. Holy Cow as a wine lover this is dangerous! So I walk into this place and it houses a retail shop in addition to 64 wines offered by the glass in self serve kiosks. Seriously where is my Aerobed to spend the night at this place? And if you think you can trust yourself, you get a prepaid credit card with a chip in it that you use like an ATM station to get your wine. 64 wines white, red, rose & sweet. Everything from a tasting which is 1 oz, half glass or full glass. The sommelier is very helpful if you're not wine savvy without being pretentious. And it also has high tops for dining as well as tables outside to eat al fresco. The menu covers a lot of cheeses and charcuterie Plates, flatbreads and more. I'm holding on to my wine as I'll definitely be back to eat there without a doubt. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating is the fact that even if you buy their wine from them they charge u a $20 corkage fee. Which to me seems a little off. The prices in the retail shop are what I find at my local wine place in the NorthShore. So to buy a $15 wine Plus $20 fee seems a little crazy. If you order straight of the menu the $20 fee is already built into the price of the bottle. They have received pushback from some customers. As a Pinot Lover I finally got to try Belle Glos from Monterey California which I loved. $48.36 retail on menu sold for $67. Which is the cheapest price I've seen on that bottle anywhere. It would just make more sense to me to just upcharge on the liquor and do away with the corkage fee. Other than that. If you're looking to try some awesome wines by the glass, you'll have a hard time choosing. It's definitely worth checking out. read more

I feel like the layout does not support the concept well and I was glad we had gotten there early. We ordered a charcuterie board and a Cobb salad. I felt the food was reasonably priced and the cheeses and meats we tried were great. The prosciutto that topped the Cobb salad was an excellent touch. The wines available cater to most price ranges. Obviously, there are some expensive pours, but I was able to find reasonably priced wines that were tasty. Service was attentive and flowed well. Good concept and atmosphere. Several basic problems that need to be addressed to make it better. The high top chairs are extremely uncomfortable and need to be replaced. Can't sit in them for more than 5 minutes. Some of the wines were not properly chilled and were somewhat luke warm. Food was pretty good. Ravioli and tuna both tasted good. Spending a day on the river walk, we decided to stop by this new restaurant and concept to us. We were very curious on how this all worked. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and we explained this is our first visit and needed some direction. The young lady walked us over to the wine stations and explained how it all worked. We grabbed a table and our server got us our Smart card to start our tasting adventure. We spent a great time mingling and talking with others who were having just as much as we were. Went back to our table and ordered the charcuterie board and it was great. Our service was great as well. I can see that on the weekend this place would be real busy, but just relax and have fun. Last Friday I visited Sixty-four Wine bar and kitchen and it was phenomenal!!! I have family in town and We've been going out to different restaurants, it seems that every place we visit has an issue with staff, there's a shortage and We've had some bad experiences. Not complaining, I totally understand and wish all restaurants get back on their feet soon. What's impressive about Sixty-four is that they're also experiencing the same challenges as other places, but they still deliver amazing service, food and drinks. That can only be the result of a hard working staff that truly cares about guests and have pride on their work. We were welcome with smiles and got a table immediately, our server Leigh Ann came right away and told us that she was in the middle of placing an order for another table and she'll be right back. Not even a minute later her co-worker Alex came to the table and told us "Hey guys, Leigh Ann is placing and order and she asked me to take your drink order so you can enjoy something right away". WOW, that right there shows how focused on service they are. To our surprise, within 2 minutes Leigh Ann came back with our drinks and took our order, she answer questions and gave us recommendations on food. She was super busy, as we could tell, but she never seemed frazzled or rushed. What a Pro!! We saw food being delivered to other tables by service staff and a supervisor or manager, it was an "all hands on deck" situation, which you don't see very often, but at Sixty-four is a true teamwork. That's effective!!! When our food came, everything looked perfect and fresh, nice presentation!!! We order 2 burgers, it was lunch, but WHAT A BURGUER!!! perfectly cooked, juicy, the lettuce was crisp, the tomato chilled, bun perfectly toasted, pickles were sweet,and the cheese just melted to perfection. Chef must be proud of his food and cooks!! It tasted just amazing, top 3 burgers I've ever had, and I've eaten everywhere. Can't wait to come back and taste more food. Leigh Ann came back to check on us, I've heard that good restaurants have a "2 bite check" but it always seems like I'm half way done when they check on me. Leigh Ann was on point!! I was taking my second bite, with my eyes closed, and she was standing there, looking at both of us making sounds and faces LOL. We had a good laugh!!! On the drinks department, our water was always full, and had plenty of beer options. It is a wine place with 64 OPTIONS!! But they have something for everyone. I love wine and definitely coming back for the wine stations experience, YES!! WINE STATIONS. When we were done, our table was cleaned and all dishes were cleared, the only thing left was our drinks. I've been wanting to try this place out for months. I decided to pop in and purchase a gift card for a close friend. This experience was not good at all. There was no host at the front. When he arrived at the front, I asked him about gift cards and other possible gift options, he seemed less than enthusiastic to help me. He was very curt. After I told him the amount I wanted to put on the gift card he told me there was an "alcohol tax" and I would be charged extra. I mentioned that I've never heard of that before. He said again that it was an alcohol tax and didn't give any further explanation. I left it alone. I ended up calling today and speaking to a manager who explained it better. It was a "point-of-sale tax." He was happy to answer my question. Honestly, I am regretting purchasing the gift card. When I went in to get the gift card, I felt like I was not welcomed there and it seemed that the host did this purposely. Went here with friends to celebrate one of the cruise birthday. I like the concept of 64 a Wine bar and kitchen but I was definitely not impressed with the food and some of the prices. I get that it's a wine bar and they have an amazing selection of wines. You get a card and you can go around and sample various sizes of wines from all over the world. Just be careful because all the sampling adds up and be prepared for some sticker shock at the end if you love sampling! This is not Costco ! You will be charged for the samples. Moving on to dinner we all ordered something different and I can honestly I was not impressed. The buttermilk fried chicken is crunchy and crispy yet lacks seasoning. Some of their menu items are not available as they are seasonal so be sure to ask before getting your heart set on something like I did when I really wanted a salmon salad that's supposed to be on the menu only to learn it was not available. The charcuterie trays are great to share. They offer several different combos and the bread and jam are phenomenal but be aware that they charge for extra bread and crackers. The best thing was The turkey burger. For around 14 bucks they give you a pretty big burger. The turkey burger it's self was extremely flavorful, seasoned, yet juicy. One of the best turkey burgers I've ever had. I would give them four stars if they were a straight wine bar but the food just kind of brings it down for me. What a lovely surprise! We were walking around downtown Naperville, and my son was hungry. We had our dog with us, so we had a limited number of places we could go. My mom had heard the burgers at Sixty Four were great, so off we go. They have a beautiful patio, right on the river, so the pup was no problem. We ended up sitting on couches with a coffee table, which turned out to be fun. First thing we noticed, the Staff was lovely-- Friendly, professional, sweet, engaging and helpful. Catherine and Rachel were so great and set the vibe of the experience. We got a "wine card" and were able to go inside and taste & pour from their wine list. Fun concept and enjoyable experience. There was staff inside that helped us learn more about the wines, which was also fun! We ordered calamari for an appetizer. Crispy to perfection, flavorful with cilantro and a little heat from peppers, served with a sweet but hot sauce. Delicious. Next, House salads with a delicious pomegranate balsamic. Then burgers, served on a delicious brioche bun with lots of toppings. I tried the turkey burger which was amazing with a sweet jam. I was asked which cheese I wanted and was pleasantly surprised to see there was a list 15 items long of different types. I chose Brie. **great choice**. It was delicious! Dessert was a brownie with caramel gelato. Probably in retrospect, we should have skipped that and just gone to Kilwins (see other review) because it was just a few bites and only ok. I have visited 3 times now so I thought it would be fitting to write a review. My first visit was for the Domaine Serene wine dinner the restaurant hosted and it was a lovely evening. I was eager to return. We have been twice since, each time with a large group, for dinner on a Saturday. Our second visit was also fantastic. The food was good and we had a great time sampling wines from the stations. We really go there for this reason - we love wine/wine tastings and thoroughly enjoy the concept of SixtyFour. If you are not someone who wants to walk around and sample and read about your wine, then this is not the place for you. Our third visit was not as great as the first two - hence the 4 stars instead of 5. We had a poor service experience the third time around. Our server didn't seem overly busy either. However, I did order the braised pork shank and it was phenomenal - one of the best dishes I have ever had. Regardless of our poor service experience, I already made a reservation to return in a few weeks with a different group of friends. Went for dinner and drinks with 4 adults and 2 young kids, 3 and 5 today. Outside tent (Covid work-around) was 2/3 full. Waited 45 minutes for food. The last 10 minutes our waitress was nowhere to be seen. When our waitress re-appeared to wait on two adjacent tables at 45 minutes, we flagged her down and asked about our food order which normally would take 15-25 minutes. Her response was "you have a well done burger and that's takes longer" and she left. (Comment- Sure does- at least 2 minutes longer). A few minutes later the Manager shows up at our table and says he's sorry but there was a computer error and our food order never got forwarded to the kitchen, they were now making our dinner and that there would be no charge for dinner. I am furious at this point because: 1. The waitress wasn't competent enough to even wonder why our dinner order had taken double a normal wait time and she hadn't even checked back with us. 2. Our waitress lied to us. She clearly made up a false excuse on the dinner delay. The fact that the manager apologized for their error and comp'd our drinks and dinner was meaningless to me. I travel for a living and eat at restaurants 5-6 days a week. Service is everything to me. I never give a restaurant with BAD SERVICE a second chance. Bad service is a direct result of BAD MANAGEMENT. My party got up and left. I had no interest in waiting any longer even to have a free meal at a restaurant with such bad service. I'll never be back again. I had a terrible experience! If quality of service matters to you I suggest you think twice about investing your time and money in this place. read more

The food was good. Let me put that out there before talking about service. For the many years I have lived in Naperville, not once have I felt the need to complain about service or even management of a restaurant. This was downright the worst service I have ever experienced. The waiter hardly showed up to our table. When we questioned what the deal was with the slow service we were told that they were short staffed and our server was managing half the restaurant. I would usually be understanding of the situation, but someone should have communicated that to us before. There is a difference between being short staffed and not paying attention. I never got a refill on water. When our apps came out we had no napkins, forks, or small plates. Had to ask for that too. We were still waiting for our drinks at this point. Mind you, it took about 45 minutes to get our first and old round of drinks (we were never asked if we wanted refills and we did). Had to ask for those too. Oh great the food is here! Soup looks great, but there was no spoon provided. I had to ask for a spoon too. I'm sorry, but what are you guys doing? I will not be recommended any of my friends to come here.
