We stopped for lunch at this Siz on our way home from Canby. It was pouring rain, and very unsafe to drive with almost zero visibility. I did not want to eat fast food and we knew we needed a place to hunker down for a little while. We were surprised how busy this location was but after eating here and eating the salad bar, we realized why. This is a good Sizzler. This Siz is better than most I have been to and definitely better than any in the Bay Area. We were all pleased with our meal, and had a safe place to be for almost an hour until the rain let up enough to feel safe to drive home. Sizzler is kind of a weird joint, a cross between fast casual and casual dining. You order at the counter but they bring you your food after you take a seat. I can't think of anyone else who does this with the exception of Fuddruckers. The lunch business was brisk. I ordered a 1/3 burger ($6.99). My compatriot a chicken dish and salad bar ($10 or so). When we sat the waiter brought us water and asked if we wanted cheese bread, which I did, and it was brought. The cheese bread was standard white bread, cut diagonally, with tons of seasoning on it. It was both horrible and delicious at the same time, like a Brown Sugar Pop Tart tends to be. The burger was delivered. The roll was average. The burger dry. The veggies relatively fresh. The fries were pretty decent. When the meal was brought out the waiter brought a tray with Ketchup, Mustard, A-1, and Mayo. This was nice since it didn't take up real estate while we waited for our food. The service was above average, especially for a chain joint. The waiter was fast and friendly, and the counter service was pretty decent. I've heard good things about the steaks here and the salad bar seemed to be the attraction that my fellow diner enjoyed best, both I failed to experience. The ice cream machine at the salad bar was a nice addition. The burger and cheesy bread being of sub-par quality certainly will keep me from coming back. Even if the steaks are good (and I don't know that they are), one medium experience is enough to keep me away. With Elmer's, Novaks, and Burgerville all in the same 'hood there's no shortage of average to above average food in the area and that will certainly be on my mind when I'm picking a lunch spot in the future. read more

Has gone downhill terribly. Was there on 12-30-2021. 4 of us ordered all you can eat salad bar. It was sad. Lettuce was brown and almost gone for the first half hour we were there. We waited for food to be replaced and ended up waiting so long we never did get access to half the food they are supposed to have available. Took our family to the Albany location recently on a Saturday night at 6:30PM. The restaurant was not very busy but looked like it had been. Tables had not been cleared and dining floor was strewn with things under tables and out in the walk ways. Salad Bar had not been restocked with fresh items (in some bins there was nothing). Soup containers were down to the bottom. The grill was not working to make the famous cheese toast. Finally, the soft serve ice cream machine was empty. From another perspective, it became clear that the reason for things not working was not the waitstaff (there were only three working). Three people can't physically keep up with customer's needs. There was only one salad bar person working trying to keep up with multiple responsibilities. On our way out. we stopped to voice our concerns with the manager. He cordially listened and then explained what was going on with the things that I had pointed out to him. It appears to boil down to this; they can't get enough workers to keep up with the amount of work that needs to be done each day. The manager had to pitch in cooking. This man apologized for our bad experience and gave us 4 certificates for another try at any Sizzler location. I have empathy for the employees at the Albany location trying to do what they can to have a job as well as so many other companies with employees in the same boat. Bad Bad burger - was so cooked & charcoaled was like card board . Was also so seasoned with a salt mix my lips hurt and shriveled up , cracking for next 8 hours "& I ONLY HAD 2 BITES" of pattie only ! Not just normal salt - was awful . The waitress was more than lacking never filling my empty water ( restaurant had 5 other customers) was not a busy time so ??? I should have refused such a burger and tracked down waitress but such a hassle didn't. This was the smallest sizzler salad bar I've ever seen - and I viewed poor food handling. Normal sizzler - removes food when low or empty with fresh containers. This place just fills containers that already remain " so the bottom OLD food is always on bottom ! I do believe that's a brake of health codes. It's sad to say I'd been better to get a cheap 2 dollar burger at McDonald's- at least I could have eaten it and it would have been tasty. read more

Sizzlers has always been a favorite of ours. We ate there today and I had to have my husband cut my steak. Even then my husband had a hard time cutting it. The saving grace was the steak was seasond well and tasted great. Ordered the salad bar we felt the chicken was very dry and had no seasonings. The riblets were very dry. Had the broccoli and carrots, they were cold and rubbery. The shrimp was good. We don't feel we got what we paid for and won't be back again for a while. read more

I'm from Hawaii and all the sizzler there closed, so when I found out that there was a sizzler here, I was so happy and excited!! From what I remembered, sizzler use to have everything and had great food! Well I was so disappointed that this sizzler only had a salad bar, taco bar, and ice cream. So we paid for our meals, went in the buffet, made myself a salad, took a bite of my salad with corn and tasted sour. I smelt my food and the corn was spoiled and it was all over my plate. So I told our waitress that it was spoiled they immediately took the corn out of the buffet. After that I didn't want to eat anything on the buffet. I had food poisoning before and it sucks! Anyway I told the hostess about it she didn't really believe me, then I heard the other workers saying "we changed it" like it's just okay that I ate spoiled food. Ok, so the manager or anybody didn't even apologize or acknowledge the fact that one of their customers ate spoiled food! The hostess was going to give me a refund but I told her that I didn't want a refund, if it's okay I just wanted to get food off of the regular menu, this bitch didn't even give me a discount or anything, she just said okay just pick whatever you want and I'll just deduct it from your $11.99 Didn't even offer me anything, I ordered the double Malibu chicken and it tasted like shit !!!! Absolutely disgusting. Chicken was over cooked, steak had huge pieces of fat through the entire thing. I paid almost $4 for onions and mushrooms and got barely any. Potato was supposed to be loaded but it came dry and was inedible. Never got the shrimp skewers we paid for. Fried shrimp were over cooked and over breaded with no flavor. I ordered a ribeye and got a big piece of CRAP!! I ordered it medium rare and it was nearly well done - barely pink in spots! I was able to eat 5 ounces of the the 14 ounce POS!! No utensils were supplied so I had to eat with my hands - being held up in a hotel. The side salad and baked potato was edible, but SUCKED eating it with my hands! And thanks to the worst DOORDASH driver ever - the food was cold and made my review even more horrible! I deleted my DoorDash account after this delivery and will NEVER ORDER FROM EITHER AGAIN! We came in yesterday. The hostess up front asked us if we would like to tip our waiter before we had even met them or received service. That was OK and we just thought it was weird. Then we go to the back of the restaurant and find ants at our table. No one informed us there was now a beverage bar so we sat drink less for about 10 minutes before our waiter brought the cheese bread and I asked him about the drinks. Now fast forward to dinner and the restaurant has clearly cut the amount of food you get served yet the prices are the same. Not one person came by and asked if the meal was OK. And as we were leaving not a single person told us to have a good day or even good bye. I don't think we will be returning any time soon. read more

Well for $30 for dinner for two, I would expect more. The appetizer bar is a neat idea... Salad bar was good. Our fried shrimp was fine.. But no, don't order the grilled shrimp. It is as if it is too cold when they cook it. We had to send it back twice. Our server said that two other tables had to send theirs back too, but that the cook told him it was translucent shrimp. Disappointing, the manager came out and quizzed my wife on the 3rd degree about our service dog. He's been to lots of restaurants and has his tags but the manager insisted on asking embarrassing questions about what he did for my wife. When I approached him later he showed me the forms that he used and they were for simple yes no answers but he felt like he should take it upon himself to give her the third degree treatment. Sizzler use to be one of my favorite restaurants, you'd get a fresh good size meal, especially if you purchase the salad bar with your main meal. But I am now gluten free and for a large chain restaurant they do not offer many choices. I was sad to see their salad bar had little to choose from. I understand pasta salad is popular item but a salad bar should offer quite a bit in the gluten free category! I ordered the all you can eat pork ribs. Too much sauce and overcooked! If I die from food poisoning, this place will have caused it! Note to manager: Replace your entire crew working on Sunday, June 30th & start over with people who give a damn. 3 of 4 of us ordered ribs. The ribs come out absolutely inedible. Like they had been cooked weeks ago, left out to rot & then slathered in bbq sauce to hide whatever crust was growing on them. Told waitress, she's just like "well, do you want me to bring you more ribs?" Nooooo, that's definitely not a resolution to this problem. The "hibachi chicken" had never seen a grill. A microwave, possibly, but no grill. It was also saturated in bbq sauce to hide the sins done to it. It was rubbery & borderline underdone. The older lady across from us returned her bloody chicken. The rice pilaf was boxed, as in Rice A Roni. No refills were offered on "specialty lemonade" which was from a powdered mix. Nothing special about this lemonade but the inflated price. And was rung up as mango lemonade when pomegranate was ordered. We have no idea what flavor was delivered because it was flavorless. The salad bar was empty, and the hot items were not hot. The soft serve machine was broken, & the alternative offered (upon our asking) was a scoop of "vanilla " ice cream that tasted like store brand "imitation vanilla flavored". When we arrived, an older server stood next to our table sweeping the floor repeatedly even though it didn't need it, & it seemed as if she was pretending to be busy to avoid doing anything else. Our server was MIA & despite her standing there hearing me complain about the lack of refills on the endless shrimp, she did literally nothing to help. I also found a plastic wrapper in my salad, brought it up with her right next to me, & she happily ignored me. When 1 of our party refused to eat the leather ribs, our waitress didn't offer to remedy the situation. She instead took it over to the other older waitress & they both stood there & laughed. As our waitress was leaving for the day she came over & apologized for the horrible food, & said it was because they were so busy & only had 1 waitress. We personally saw at least 4 waitresses, but I suppose you can't count the older lady who was pretending to work. Our waitress should have been ashamed to serve that food & should have offered to resolve it. But nothing. 1 of us already is sick tonight, & I'm hoping the rest of us don't follow suit. We will NEVER EVER be returning to this location. EVER. I may be calling the health department. Save yourselves & stay away. read more

This place is a good alternative to fast food. When my family meets for dinner, we like to eat here. There are many things I like about this restaurant. First is the fact that Seniors (60 and older) have a separate menu and it even lists how much salt is used. Second is the Salad Bar. I've never been disappointed it's choices. Lastly the place always seems to be friendly and clean. However, I do have one suggestion for the restaurant. While their soft serve is wonderful, I do suggest one or two more dessert choices. read more

This place is pretty good. They used to have a $10 or so deal where you could get a small steak, or chicken, or shrimp and their endless salad bar. Now it has gone up in price quite a bit. I like it cause I can get guacamole, really good fried chicken wings, and pretty damn good clam chowder all for a decent price. Now since the prices have gone up so much I don't frequent it hardly ever. The salad bar is always kept clean and the service is good. I just can't see paying the increased pricing for ordering at the front and serving yourself for the salad bar. Bring the prices back down and I would give it four stars due to just the offerings that go with your food. The burgers and steak aren't anything to write home about, it's just about the choices you can add to your entree. All in all, if you are willing to pay the price to add on a pretty decent salad bar with things like chicken wings and guacamole, then give this place a shot. read more

Our waitress was great and our teens enjoyed their bacon cheeseburgers and fries, and hubby loved his all you can eat shrimp. On the down side, his steak was tough and just not good at all. I ordered the fish and chips. I ate the fries but the cod was the oddest tasting cod I've ever had. It didn't taste rotten, just not like cod or any decent fish. Our waitress was fast to notice that I only took a couple bites of fish when I pushed the basket aside and asked me to order anything else on the menu I wanted, so I did after she insisted because she said fries just wasn't enough for dinner. We go to Sizzlers a lot from great food in Newport to good to great food in Salem. However. Our experience at the Sizzlers location in Albany was at best one of the worst food we have ever eaten. The steaks were ok. But the lobster smelled rancied, and one small bite confirmed our suspicions. Very bad. We brought this to the attention of our waitress who only told us to write out a comment card. Our further complains were not herd even by management. We left knowing to never return. Buyer beware! They closed the Sizzler in my hometown, so this is a definite go-to spot when we visit our daughter at OSU. Food is consistently good and the staff is great.
