Interesting spot, ample parking in a huge plaza but also there's a small drive-thru. Service was friendly and they were very patient, though the chicken leaves a bit to be desired because it was dry all around. Definitely a spot where more sauce is better. Mac N Cheese Chicken - to start, the mac was deliciously cheesy, creamy, and plentiful. Great side for an order! Chopped chicken tenders however, were on the drier end. Still edible without a bev, but combining with the mac really helped. I'd be skeptical of the chicken tenders given this experience. BBQ Wings - these were more dry, both inside and out. Chicken wasn't as tender as some fast food spots. BBQ sauce was very light, almost like a dry rub. Sauce did not save the dry wings, bev appreciated if ordering this but also would skip. Dragonfruit Wings - while the chicken was on the drier side, the dragonfruit sauce made up for it. It's a sweeter sauce that doesn't taste much like dragonfruit, which admittedly is mild in flavor, but has the essence of fruit. They use more dragonfruit sauce than the BBQ as called out above, which helps a ton but the wings still lack the juiciness which is unfortunate. read more

Visited here over the weekend while in the area. This place was just ok. Nothing that we ate really wowed us to want to come back. The fries were under cooked, chicken strips were just like any other ones. The spicy ones were not hot at all. Garlic bread was just frozen texas toast barely heated up. Place was pretty filthy in the kitchen area. Worker was outside vaping and came in and didn't wash hands and touched food. I would not go back. Service was friendly but extremely slow. This place is awesome. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and has a modern feel. The food is bomb. I had a chicken sandwich with tavern cheese on a pretzel bun. It came with jalepeno's which offered a subtle kick. I got mozzarella sticks with a sweet and spicy Sriracha sauce. The staff recommended it to me and it was great. The prickly pear tea is money. The fries you can tell are from real potatoes and not overly fried. And now for the main shout out- their Sauces!!! With all seriousness, every one of their sauces are drink worthy. On Friday, May 15th at approximately 1:30 PM, I visited Chicken Shanty located at 2218 Santiam Highway SE in Albany, Oregon. At the time, there was only one other customer in the restaurant, a man quietly eating his lunch. Since this was my first visit, I stood at the counter trying to read the menu board posted behind the cashier/waitress, Krystle. As a 74-year-old man, reading a menu board high on a wall and at a distance is not always easy. Instead of showing patience or offering assistance, she appeared visibly irritated and impatient while I was trying to decide what to order. I felt rushed and uncomfortable the entire time, as though my taking an extra moment to read the menu was somehow an inconvenience to her. Feeling pressured, I quickly ordered a chicken sandwich, fries, and a cup of water. After placing my order, I went to sit down and immediately noticed that none of the tables appeared to have been cleaned. One table in particular was especially disgusting, with food crumbs, grease, and smeared residue still on the surface. I eventually moved toward the front area of the restaurant and chose what appeared to be the "least dirty" table I could find. To be clear, every table I observed in the restaurant at that time was dirty. Considering there was only one other customer in the establishment, there was absolutely no excuse for the dining area to be in that condition. When my meal finally arrived, the sandwich was very mediocre and significantly smaller than it appeared in the online photos and advertising. The sauce provided separately was, in my opinion, terrible, so I ended up eating the sandwich dry. Conclusion: I would not recommend this restaurant for several reasons. First, the customer service was disappointing and lacked even basic courtesy or patience toward an older customer who simply needed an extra moment to read the menu. Second, the cleanliness of the restaurant was unacceptable. Dirty tables throughout the dining area give the impression that sanitation and customer comfort are not priorities. Third, the food itself was underwhelming and did not resemble what is advertised online. Overall, this was not an enjoyable experience, and I left feeling more like a burden than a paying customer. Price wise, this place is pretty decent value. As of 03/01/2025, a chicken sandwich meal (fries + drink) is 15 bucks before tip. The food itself is delicious. The grilled chicken sandwich is made with 3 breast tenders. The wings are crispy yet saucy. Even the kids meal is made with pieces of flattened chicken breast-- I was expecting some reheated foster farm nuggets. Fries are crunchy and they give you a good portion. Aside from the fries, the chicken doesnt seem to have a whole lot of salt, if any, which is huge plus to me (I prefer being able to control the salt level myself). Good Day Yelpies I saw this place yesterday and decided to order some through Grub Hub for me and the family. I would advise that maybe Grub Hub is not a good choice for this type of food as it was pretty cold. The bone in wings and boneless were not hot at all. Thus why I'm assuming Grub Hub could have been part of the problem.. Now I've never had this happen when I've ordered other foods similar to this but will give them the benefit of the doubt. I went to the chicken shanty this last monday, before the holidays. I went through the drive thru. This was my first time trying them out and I was not disappointed! I was greeted almost immediately when I pulled up to the window. I decided on the 2 strip basket with fries and a drink to try them out. It came with one sauce with the meal, I asked for 2 different ones - and any extra is about 50 cents. I got the house southern to try and a bbq sauce in case I wasn't a fan. I throughly enjoyed the house southern sauce, it reminded me of Raising Canes sauce, very peppery. The chicken strips were fantastic, I have nothing to complain about there! And the fries were beer battered, deliciousness! The lady who helped me at the window was very kind and able to give me recommendations on sauces when I asked. Great customer service! I'm not a battered chicken breast tenders and especially not a battered chicken breast tenders sandwich or wrap eater, BUT the Chicken Shanty turned me into one! I prefer the coconut chicken tenders, but sometimes I get grilled tenders. When I have time, I try their new sandwiches or a menu favorite sandwich. I usually drop in for a snack of a chicken tender with their delicious homemade pink lemonade and chocolate chip cookies. read more

Food here is delicious! It's just as good as the Shanty in Corvallis. Everyone that works there is very nice and helpful. The indie is clean and well kept. I would imagine they are going to further decorate and re do the restaurant a little more as time goes on. But hey, the chicken is outstanding and so in the fries. One tiny suggestion. Staff were welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was clean except for the table we sat at. But they cleaned it for us right away after we asked for a rag. We ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with Honey Mustard & Cool Ranch, and 15 bone-in wings tossed in house sauce & cool ranch for dipping with two drinks. Came out to $41.38 (includes tip). (A little high for a regular lunch for two). After getting the food, we found the Honey Mustard was missing - no biggie. Asked the staff at the counter for it, and she said sorry it was out and forgot to tell us. Ended up getting BBQ instead. The fries were wonderfully crisp. The chicken wings perfectly cooked, and the chicken strips in the sandwich were great. Unfortunately, the sandwich was overpowered by the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and thought it was odd there were no pickles (don't all chicken sandwiches come with pickles?). Half way thru the wings, we opened the 2nd cool ranch container only to find it had just enough ranch to cover the bottom, and the rim of the container looked like it was used. Ended up not using that one and moving on. Overall, the experience wasn't ground breaking or particularly memorable. Maybe they're still trying to learn their flow after just opening. Visited on Sunday 2/23; around 1pm at the drive-thru. We decided to try this place since we had a 50% off chicken strip basket when we purchased another. We got that and a grilled chicken sandwich, crispy chicken sandwich and three drinks. The price was nearly $50. We waited for about 15 minutes for our order. From what we could see, there wasn't a lot of people there, so why it took so long, I don't know. Especially when I consider what the food looked like. The fries that came with the baskets were cold and over-seasoned. The crispy chicken was also over-seasoned and slightly over-cooked. The grilled chicken sandwich had three TINY chicken nugget sized pieces inside a huge bun. The cheesy pimento sauce had absorbed into the bun and the tomato was slimy. The crispy chicken sandwich seemed satisfactory to my husband. The drinks tasted just okay but came in plain clear plastic cups overfilled so when we put in the straw, bubbled over and out the top. We weren't given any napkins or ketchup. This was our first trip there and definitely our last! I plan to tell my family and friends to avoid this place. Went there twice, first time was decent the strips were good size and hot but the honey mustard kinda sucked. Went again today cause my wife wanted to try it, this experience was just bad, the strips were cold and ready in no more than 3 minutes so clearly cooked in advance, they were also dry and overcooked. But worse than all that they were extremely thin, if I didn't know any better I would think they sliced them into chicken slices with a deli counter meat slicer. read more

We have ate here twice. At the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Great service too and fast. We had the regular and coconut chicken strips. Coconut was our favorite, but both were good!!! About a week or so later we order through Grub Hub, bad choice. It was hot and fresh when picked up but took a long time getting to our door. As a result the bag was full of condensation. This happens when really hot food sits a long time in a tightly closed plastic bag. Needless to say the fries were totally a failure. The chicken was eatable but not the great experience we had at the restaurant. So our suggestion is to dine in or pickup yourself. A great place that Albany needs. read more
