We stopped at the Sizzler in Blythe, CA on our way home from Arizona and had an over the top service experience that necessitated this review. The food was good as expected but the service from two of the staff was extraordinarily great. ALIZE, the cashier-order taker, had a fabulous smile, was truly friendly and helpful and was very patient while we figured out our order. She explained everything that we needed to know about the salad and ice cream bar and again did it all with a smile. SHANNA, our server, was also incredibly efficient, sincerely friendly and checked back with us often for any needs and if we were satisfied with our experience. Though she had about 5-6 tables to oversee she always made time to check on us. Sizzler isn't a steakhouse restaurant on the same level as a Ruth's Chris, Flemings or Mastro's but these two team members made our family feel like we had the best. read more

Stopped in for lunch yesterday, it's been over 20 years since I've been to a Sizzler. It was a real surprise to find one in such a small town. Ordered steak and Malibu chicken and salad bar. Steak was cooked and seasoned to almost perfection, the Malibu chicken was good but not as good as I remembered it, don't remember them using breaded chicken but still good, loaded baked potato was very good. The salad bar was clean with fresh, soup was warm and good tasting. The staff were great, attentive and quick. The building and inside is a bit dated and worn but clean. I had a great experience at Sizzler tonight. Such a great experience in fact that I think it deserves recognition. Nora took our orders and was the friendliest employee I've ever met at Sizzler. She seemed to take our business seriously and cared for our order to be just that, our order, made exactly to our liking. Amparo was our server and she did amazing. Although she was the only server for the entire dining room she consistently checked on us and made sure our food was great and that we had everything we needed throughout our visit. The star of the night had to be the 6 ounce Sirloin steak cooked medium and the Grilled Salmon. I've never had an experience quite like tonight at this location because not only was the steak cooked perfectly but the salmon was also crisp yet so tender without being dried out or overcooked. I knew this experience stood out compared to any other visit I've had over the past 10 years when even the side of vegetables which are typically not very desirable and flavorless were absolutely delicious. Leo was the chef who cooked my entrees and I would just like to thank you and the whole team. You guys definitely deserve a medal tonight. You've completely changed my perspective of this small town restaurant and have given me something to be excited about when I think of going out to find a meal that will satisfy appetite. We stopped at the Sizzler restaurant in Blythe, CA because we observed the Sizzler sign high up. This was our first visit to this restaurant. My wife and I noticed a large parking lot. We went inside and noticed the restaurant was very clean. The salad bar was large and well stocked. Diane, the manager, was the cashier and took our order. She was very friendly. While we were waiting for our food we noticed Diane was keeping the salad bar filled and clean. Our server was Mari. She was very friendly and professional. She checked on us about 5 times. The food was cooked perfectly. The next day after our visit to AZ we stopped again at the Sizzler and had lunch again. We will stop at the location the next time we go from Thousand Oaks, CA to AZ. read more

Perhaps it was a one-off because Sizzler is typically a good place to eat, but it definitely wasn't today. First the attendant took my order incorrectly, only charging for a cup of soup when I ordered the unlimited soup bar. Then my husband's medium-rare steak came out medium-well the first time and medium the second time. We gave up at that point since he waited 20 minutes for them to recook a second steak and they still got it wrong. I ate here on 7/29/23 and had a terrible experience. I ordered my meal and opted for the unlimited salad bar. I made my way to the table and went over to get a plate at the salad bar. After finishing the plate, our waitress had still not checked our ticket and brought extra plates so I went to the salad bar where I remember extra plates being from trips before. I couldn't find them so I went to the front counter where I saw stacks of plates. There was no one at the counter. A young waitress who was previously sitting in the far corner of the restaurant with other employees walked over to me and asked what I needed. I told her I was looking for a plate. She asked me where I was sitting and I told her. She told me our waitress would bring one. I asked her if she could just give me one from the large stack 10 feet away. She said "No" in a rude tone and hastily walked back to her seat to return to the glow of her smart phone. I returned to my seat where I sat for several more minutes before our waitress brought the plates. By that point I was too angry to use them. The young waitress sat talking loudly as the only other waitress attempted to work dozens of tables alone. Unsuccessfully. I was so pissed I withheld the tip. I returned a few hours later to pay our waitress. It wasn't her fault. Sadly she had left and only the young waitress remained. She looked over at me angrily. I live in Blythe. I'm from here. I don't make it a habit to complain about a lot of things and I rarely leave negative reviews but I've never had a waitress flat out tell me no like that when she could have easily walked behind the counter and handed me a plate. After all, I paid for it. It's bad customer service that gives our wonderful town a bad name. I feel bad for the employers of Blythe. I'm stuck in Blythe because of a car problem on a scorching day. Everything is old and run down in Blythe. I found a clean hotel and walked over to Sizzler for dinner. I always thought the salad bar was free when you ordered a meal but I guess it doesn't work that way. I bypassed the salad bar and just as well - it didn't look interesting. I ordered steak and lobster. The lobster was flavorless so they covered it with paprika - bad idea. The steak was the crummiest flank steak you buy at the store and super thin. So a meal with no salad, low quality meat and bland lobster was still in the mid-twenties. The empty restaurant should be a clue to management. I will not recommend or return. read more

Since reopening after pandemic Blythe Sizzler is very clean and the employees are extremely friendly. They have. Full menu and salad bar. Having been a regular pre-pandemic I must say the food is much better. It's fresher, has more flavor, higher quality meats and overall a better taste. The newer reviews of this place are spot on. It is an excellent Sizzler. The salad bar was super fresh and had a ton of choices. The soups were good and the taco bar was fantastic. The salsa was nice and spicy and we really feel like we got a nice meal here. It does remind me of the Sizzler's from long ago, and it's still a great value. Servers here are better than I remember from my childhood though. They were attentive, brought us new buffet plates before we even thought about asking for them and checked back several times to see if we were doing OK. The hot items were nice and hot and the cold items were nice and cold. We will remember this next time we come through Blythe just for the nostalgia! They have a list of sides but only next to the register, I always go just for the salad bar. The first time I went I got a steak and only one trip to the salad bar, big mistake. You could make a whole meal out of their salad bar so I always get the unlimited trips. Every meal comes with the ice cream bar included which is a nice touch. They have cones, bowls, and even to go cups for when you cant stuff anymore in but need that sweet fix on the go. Its a great place for families to get together or for a good quick meal. Passing through states... worst location we have been to. Dirty seats and tables. Their salad bar is so small that we looked around to see if the rest of it was somewhere else. Worst part, an hour before closing because we were the only ones in there the manager was removing all the food. My husband went to get ice cream for our daughter and she wouldn't move out of the way for a full two minutes. She was unprofessional and had the meanest glare all night. This review is for dinner, 4/24/17, I really hate to give negative reviews but in this case, I have no choice. The food is one star; next to totally inedible. Thank goodness I took only sample portions or else I would have wasted a good deal of food. I ordered the all you can eat salad bar. So let's start the List of Sins! Carnitas, taco meat, chicken wings: barely warm, flavorless. Cheese and broccoli soup: like library paste, chemical was the only flavor present. Macaroni and potato salads: just plain nasty. Even the ice cream was tasteless as were the syrups. What was good? The lettuce was fresh, as were most of the ingredients for a salad. Thankfully, they had bleu cheese. The cheese toast was good, as always. And the ice tea was good, too. I was sitting next to a couple who had ordered steak and after we talked a bit I asked how their steaks were. They kindly cut me a piece to try. I must admit, it was pretty good. They're locals and said they never get the salad bar. Oh well, live and learn. The wait staff, however brought a one star rating to a two. They were considerate, eager to please and just plain nice. I don't hold the cooks responsible for the horrible food as they must use what's given to them. If you just want a steak and baked potato, the Sizzler is worth a try. I was passing through town on the way to my Easter destination. It was late in the evening and I was hungry. I saw the sign for Sizzler and decided to stop in. I hadn't been to a Sizzler since I was a kid. It was much better back then. I decided to order a 12oz New York strip medium rare with a baked potato. After ordering, I sat down at a table and waited. Finding a clean table was a chore.. most of them had dishes on them from previous guests. The floor had bits of trash everywhere. It looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a week. My server was very nice and brought me some complimentary Texas toast. It wasn't good. When my steak arrived it was cooked a little over medium. I was too hungry to send it back. I ate around the gristle which there was quite a bit of. It definitely was a low grade cut of beef. The only thing that helped was the seasoning they use for the steak. Pretty good... and the staff was very polite. Regardless, next time I am driving through this area, I won't be stopping here. read more

Let's be clear--no Sizzler deserved more than 3 stars ever under normal circumstances. However, Blythe California is itself an abnormal circumstance. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The food was standard Sizzler food--American cuisine, mostly beef, with a salad bar. I ordered a lemon herb chicken breast with a side of broccoli, which was probably the only healthy dish on the menu, but healthy nonetheless. The food was a bit salty for my taste, but others might not think so. It was a good experience in a city with an economy built on the state prison system and on being the only stop between Phoenix and Palm Springs. read more

I ordered a full rack of ribs with fries and my girlfriend ordered an 8oz. steak with a baked potato. We ordered to-go since it was so dang crowded. My ribs were decent, overcooked/burnt on the edges, which made those portions basically inedible; the sauce also got a bit salty towards the end. Fries were ok, nothing special, but not bad either. My girlfriend's steak was terrible. Medium-rare is not bleeding red, but more like reddish/pink in the middle. It was way too chewy and had very little flavor. I have no idea what it is about Sizzler: you're on the road, and you want a steak, and you have the eat somewhere. Then you see the sign. "We're going to Sizzler! Sizzler!" (Doin' the Cabbage Patch). Let me tell you, close to home, Sizzler is the last place I would eat. Something about all precooked steaks about more the price than some of my favorite dives doesn't sound appetizing. But on the road, anything to avoid Taco Bell or McDonalds sounds good. Blythe's Sizzler is a viable option because a) it doesn't have the "Drive Thru food poisoning" sign out front, and b) they have that all-you-can-eat salad that looks just good enough not to represent the buffet in Vegas Vacation. Nothing green on the buffet? Great! (As opposed to the casino we stopped at...) Me and my buddy Brian stopped here TWICE on the last two times back and forth in Phoenix (that's four times, if you're scoring at home). I'm sure the place contributed to my gallbladder problem (ya know, greasy, fried food), but at least it was there so we didn't have to eat at McDonalds. On the long road between Phoenix and anywhere west, Blythe becomes a viable resting point. As seems to be the norm with every Sizzler it is very close to K-Mart and not far off the freeway. I found it with the Yelp app on my iPhone. My family of four stuck to the salad bar and were pleasantly surprised. The serving areas were clean and the food was fresh and appealing. They had a nice little taco bar as well with some good chicken wings. In addition, they had some very good ice cream and a treats bar. The service was good and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and was not loud at all. There is an obvious local crowd including one big guy who kept walking through the restaurant out to the parking lot to smoke with his huge cowboy hat. After he came in, he pulledout a sun visor with its own wind-blown hair attached and sat and talked with friends. The hat and the man were some of the best entertainment I had on my recent 1700 mile trip. read more

This small town is one of the last real stops before hitting Phoenix. We were on a family road trip from Houston to LA and on our way back to Texas. Burned out on pizza and fast food, we decided to stop here. And I'm glad we did! Service was excellent. Food was okay to good depending on what you got. I did the endless salad bar and shared with the toddler. It had salad, tacos, pasta (hot and cold), soup, chicken wings, and dessert.
