First review in close to 20 years but this abysmal dump was so awful I felt compelled to literally redownload this app to warn others about this place. We were dragged here by family who live in San Juan because it's "kid friendly" and on the marina. The view of the marina was, I'll admit, spectacular- but the view from the bridge is the same and you don't risk contracting a serious disease like you do at sizzler. The view is the 1 star on this review. Where to start? Well, the buffet for adults is $18 off the rip. The place is. Absolutely. Completely. Unbelievably FILTHY. Wet floors. Dirty utensils. Sticky tables. Filthy "sneeze guards." The bathrooms- listen I've spent time in a literal JAIL with a cleaner place to relieve myself. On top of that- there are bugs (both flying and crawling) throughout this hell hole. The food was what may be described as "summer camp run by sadists with a mission statement to cause the spread of food borne illnesses and a non-zero chance at death." Food left for hours (days?) under the lamps so that everything that didn't look like diarrhea covered in vomit simply looked like various kinds of roadkill jerky. Anything that was in a mostly liquid state of matter had a tough skin over it from the "gravy" to what I believe was supposed to be broccoli cheese soup but bore a concerning resemblance to stadium nacho cheese that had been left on the sidewalk for a week or two. The salad bar items, "desserts" and "hot foods" were all the same temperature- somewhere between room temp and Petri dish incubator. Terrible experience yesterday at around 2 P.M. local time, at Sizzler Plaza las Americas store #1092. - Had to wait more than 20 minutes in line to order. The line extended outside of the doors. There was just one cashier, where there should have been two. - It seemed like every other customer required for the cashier to get management approval. - In my case, as a senior with a discount, the cashier had to go back to the manager's office three times for the manager to come out. After two attempts, another Sizzler server told the cashier that she should go to the manager a third time because she wasn't coming out. Apparently she knows the manager's behavior. The manager did come out at the third attempt, apparently bothered as she was interrupted. I explained to her that the people in line had been waiting patiently, including myself, over twenty minutes just to order. The manager sort of blurted out that she was short five employees. A customer behind me informed her that her first priority should be to her customers, & that if her presence was required at the registers for that, that she should have done so. This customer was also a senior person with a discount, & mentioned it to the manager so she would stay to take care of him & others in line. - While the main / only issue wasn't the senior discount, it made the wait in line worse. I don't understand why cashiers aren't empowered to look at a license ID to determine age, & punch in the discount. It requires a manager's approval. This happens at all the Sizzler's in Puerto Rico, perhaps in the states too. In contrast, at Golden Corral, a much superior buffet dining experience, all it takes is for the cashier to check the birthdate on the customer's license. - Also disturbing that a young person in front of me in line was waiting to hand in an employment application already filled out. It required that the manager come out, which she didn't & the cashier informed the applicant that the best she could suggest was for the applicant to return the following day when there was another manager My previous experiences at this particular location had been mostly positive before, as I won't sponsor other Sizzler locations. The service & food at other Sizzler locations in the San Juan Metropolitan Area are just atrocious, including the food prep & selection. But given what I experienced yesterday, I think this hold-out-for-good-service Sizzler location has also gone bad. I feel with the expansion of Golden Corral on the island, they have the necessary ingredients to be very successful, the great food prep & selection, attentive personnel, & sufficient employees, attentive managers serving customers directly in the meat carving stations, & on & on. These are all things that Sizzler used to do well, but not anymore. Another location, at Plaza Escorial in Carolina, has also gone south & I just don't go there anymore, even though it is a few minutes away from my home. read more

The Sizzle is by far the most incredible restaurant i have ever been to. Great food, great times, great friends. That's all you need! First of all, the food: incredible! I got the steak and shrimps plus a baked potato. Lotsa cream lotsa butter perfectly medium rare steak: incredible. Second, the buffett: great selection! All warm food. Good salads. Honestly great caesar salad very cool. Third, the vibe : wow what a great restaurant. The staff was so friendly. I loved the view of the yacht club and cruise ships off in the distance. It really drove home many of the things that I was thinking about over the past couple days in Puerto Rico! I feel like this Sizzler is the perfect representation of the American latinization found on this island. Trapped between a Tex-Mex taco bar & a make-your-own spaghetti station at the buffet were puerto rican stables like yuca, pernil & arroz con pollo. Nothing emphasizes the overarching colonial & fiscal suppression on Puerto Rican lives more than a pseudo american steakhouse buffet overlooking million dollar yachts and white tourist spewing cruise ships. Went today and very disappointed . first of all the entrance is dirty and the bathroom had all stalls locked except for handicapped. They said only the buffet was avaliable . Since was with grandchildren decided to stay well food honestly looked like it had been there for few days and waitress kept on moving food around . food was well imagine then I asked for a coffee and waitress said there hasn't been coffee there for the last three weeks I feel wow that's so great but what did I expect . The place was very busy but it was Sunday night. The buffet was messy because they had a lot of unattended kids at the buffet and only one person working behind the buffet. Horrible Sizzler, normally I would have very low expectations for a Sizzler but this was awful. Let's start by the fact that we sat were we pleased (as any other Sizzler) and the waitress asked us to pick another table because she had already cleaned that area, the restaurant was packed. We waited 20 mins for someone to take the receipt and get us drink, waitresses kept walking and never stopped. The food was horrible, and not even what I ordered and the waitress was very rude about it. When we were gonna leave the waitress saw us and told us she was just gonna bring us more Sprite ( we didn't order Sprite ). Parking is in a private lot but can be full at lunch or dinner meal times. The view is spectacular, which is a plus because it's a distraction from the poorly stocked hot portion of the buffet. The salad, soup and dessert part of the buffet is better stocked. Service is lackadaisical at best. There is not a soda fountain so waitresses must bring drink refills which seems like an eternity. Waitresses also bring clean plates so flagging down a waitress is necessary if you want a return trip to the buffet. The lunch buffet price is about $8 and with a drink and taxes gets you to a little over $10. You can order off of the menu to get hamburger, steak and other main course entrees. read more

Im embarrassed to even say I ate here, let alone while I was in Puerto Rico. But, my boyfriend and I have a difference of opinion and he wanted to eat here so I gave in just because there was nothing else nearby. Let me say, this experience was WORSE than I even imagined it would be. First of all, this place was crowded! Why, is beyond me but people were everywhere! Second, they have pictures of their menu items on the wall so I wanted to order a baked potato. Well, we get to the cashier who speaks little to no English and from what I can decipher is that I wont be getting a baked potato. So my plan to avoid the buffet goes to crap. There was a line of people waiting so I just ordered the buffet to get out of the line. But why display pictures of baked potatoes all over your menu if you do not serve them?! Ummm, false advertisement? Ok, so where to begin with all of screw ups after we ordered our food. So they give me a plate with no silverware to eat on the buffet. I ask a man employee for silverware and he says were not his table. Ok, I dont give a crap if Im your table or not, how do you expect me to eat without a fork?! So, we wait and wait and wait. Nobody comes by and I have a plate full of hot food that is now getting cold. So I decide to go up front to the cashier and I tell the lady I dont have any silverware. She doesnt give me any either and runs off somewhere. Its probably 20 minutes later that someone brings me silverware and our drinks and my boyfriends steak plate is nowhere to be found. I remind the waitress of his steak and she takes our reciept and returns 10 minutes later with his steak. Now onto the buffet. Could yall please put labels of what the food is?! I had no clue what more than 1/2 of the entrees were on the line!! The lettuce for the salad bar was blah. It was old and wilted. I managed to get some decent salad later when they replaced the lettuce. But besides that all I ate was macaroni and cheese and a roll. I was surprised to see the employees dont even warm the rolls. The lady was taking them straight out of the bag and putting them on the line. The buffet was also very limited on choices and small/crowded. By far one of the worst customer service experiences of all time. They need to get their store better managed and better employees who care about customer service. Having to sit for more than 20 minutes just to get silverware is beyond me. Get it together sizzler! All the food could use some spices. Or even just salt. Except the broccoli cheese soup which was super salty. The ice cream actually tasted salty instead of sweet. The mac & cheese tasted like plastic and the elbows with marinara sauce tasted expired. The salad bar is a joke (mostly empty when I came). Everything just tasted bland or expired. Not sure where to begin the food was terrible, steak was dry the all you can eat shrimp were over cooked. The passion fruit sangria was good as was the fried chicken on the buffet. It would've been nice to have the food on the buffet labeled so you knew exactly what you were eating rather than guessing. Buffets are what you expect them to be but this was awful, we waited for a great while to get utensils, a customer started cursing at our server demanding his money back making a scene because he was fed up with the service. Nice people but the restaurant was vile, purely vile. The silverware was filthy - not just a little dirty or stained, but not even washed with large food remnants still in tact. I don't understand how someone can wrap silverware in a napkin and hand out such dirty silverware to customers. Perhaps if this only happened once it would be ok, but we received several sets of silverware that were disgusting. The food quality was also poor - I'm hoping I don't get any food poisoning.
