Now, I should mention that I'm not exactly an apple fritter enthusiast. I probably have one every 4-5 years. But for whatever reason, I got a craving for one and couldn't shake it. Each visit became a running joke: "Maybe today?" This morning, sweet victory, and a candid from my partner. The apple fritter was finally there waiting for me, and the first bite immediately transported me back in time to being a little kid standing at the donut counter in my local Bashas. Warm, nostalgic, perfectly indulgent, and absolutely worth the wait. If you're lucky enough to get one before they're gone, do it. Apparently, the locals already know what they're doing. I hate that all restaurants, because of patrons and their salt-conditioned palates, serve the most sodium-laden monstrosities possible.
