I highly recommend SJ Customs. John the owner installed a Dakota digital dash in my 86 El Camino and it works perfectly. He even got the fuel gauge working without having to replace the sending unit which would've required him to drop the tank, so that really saved me $$. Next he removed all the surface rust from the undercarriage, and then painted it. It looks better than new. He also noticed that my front brakes were missing the wheel bearing dust caps, so he had some on hand, and installed them. Thank you for everything John! I will be back soon. read more

so my IS350 was making rumbling noise (feels/sound like driving on rumble strips). Took it to a few mechanics, none was able to figure out what was wrong with it, though they all think its wheel bearing, but cant confirm since wheel bearing failure makes different sound. I had one wheel bearing replaced, but it didnt help. Anyway, found John on google, read all his reviews, and decided to take it to him. He took it for a test drive and performed some hands on testing, he was able to point out which wheel bearing was bad, I was skeptical (since i had one replaced prior), but I was also desperate. Told John to go forward with the replacement, he had it done in ~30. Car just feel like new now, Kudos to to John. Again thank you for all your help. read more

John at SJ Customs did an outstanding job doing an LS swap on my '72 Chevelle. From the initial planning phase and ordering of parts, through the installation and fine tuning, John was great at taking the time to answer questions and keeping me informed. The job of doing the LS swap consisted of removing the tired 350 motor and TH350 transmission and replaced it with a freshened up LQ4 motor (upgraded cam shaft), 4l80e transmission, new Holley Sniper fuel tank, and new posi rear end. My car went from all show and no go to the complete opposite with tons of power and reliability. I couldn't be happier with the work done. I've also taken my daily driver to John for typical maintenance work and I've also received good work for a fair price. I am beyond happy to have found John and his shop. A friend told me about him some time back and I finally had the opportunity to see why he was so adamant about recommending him. I even had to ask my friend if he was sure he did more than custom work because of the shop name. Fast forward to last week: I needed some preventative maintenance done on my 2014 Tundra so I contacted John for a quote. I could immediately tell he was competent and professional over the phone. After he explained to me the options I had and the cost for each, I scheduled an appointment. Today: When I arrived he verified the services he would be performing and took the time to answer the few extra questions I had (such as approximate time of completion). While I was waiting to be picked up I saw that he inspected key points of my truck such as brakes and tires, looked for leaks etc. This made me feel very reassured that I brought my truck to the right shop. Upon picking my truck up he went over everything again, showed me the old parts and made sure I was satisfied with his service. My truck was clean, no oil or grease finger prints on the vehicle inside or outside (I had a bad experience at another shop with this). So now I know where all my vehicles will be serviced at whether it's an oil change, scheduled maintenance or repairs. John is honest, fair and doesn't try to pressure you into anything.
