I don't know why this place isn't packed in the evenings. The food, like most any brewery or pub, is delicious, there is plenty of variety, and they have many great brewskis on tap. My absolute favorite is the Skagit BLTA and my husband cannot pass up their brisket chili. The interior is very woody and rustic with several tv's so you don't have to miss the game. They have an upstairs with a pool table, but it seems to rarely be used. If you're there when the train goes by, it'll scare your pants off, as the tracks are in crazy close proximity to the building! Cool brewery if you are looking for low-key. Some ups and down here, figuratively and literally, but I admit my perspective is probably one of a customer looking for the exact things they just happen to be bad at, and customers with different priorities will likely have a different experience. Case in point: I like dark beers, especially in cooler weather. They had a porter, which tasted tangy but not quite like a sour, and a stout, which mysteriously tasted very like an English porter, but too light a body for a stout, certainly no creamy head to speak of, and again that sour note. Whatevs. The drink menu is mostly chock-a-block with IPAs, blondes and lagers - ambers and darks are perhaps just not in their wheelhouse. We also came because they supposedly have a pool table here. And they do - tucked away in a dimly lit corner upstairs. We had to ask the waitress to turn on the lights for us, but only a mostly-burned out string of Costco tivoli lights served to illuminate the space. It was very hard to see the balls, or our food. Food? We had a flatbread pizza and Brussels. They were ok. They're probably better at sandwiches...again, we hit 'em where they ain't... So, the "up and down" bit: If you want to sit upstairs, fine, but you must order downstairs. Want to use a restroom? Downstairs. All done and ready to close tab? Downstairs. The bartender (running the place solo, apparently) was gracious and accommodating in bringing us food and refills upstairs, though, and we tipped accordingly. Good service. Not our particular cup of tea, perhaps, but give 'em a shot if you like IPAs and lagers, and don't care a whiff about pool or pizza. You might like it! read more

I've been to Skagit River Brewery before but I believe they were at a different location but that was years ago. It was nice to return to it however and experience it once again. For my visit to this brewery the beer I had was the Steelie Brown Ale. This was a pretty good brown ale for sure. Flavor highlights with this beer are malty, biscuity, sweet and smoky. The beer is also fairly rich. It was pleasant to get a brown ale again as they are somewhat of an infrequent beer type for me and when I do get them the return is typically a pleasant one. And that is no exception to the Steelie Brown! read more

They have a patio outside that seems nice for the warmer months. The inside is classic small town rural wood vibe that's reasonably open and accessible. I usually don't leave feedback good or bad but I just have to this time. The app wouldn't let me leave feedback it says too much activity so my dates might be off. Must of been the 2nd week in February. Me my wife and brother all experienced the same thing. The beer was horrible. Not sure if the recent flooding had something to do with it. My wife ordered a simple Pilsner and myself and brother ordered an amber. The Pilsner tasted like pond water and our ambers tasted off also. We told the waitress of the problem and my wife ordered a blonde and it was off also. The waitress didn't really say anything just dumbfounded. I think they are pretty proud of their food also. There wasn't really anything under 20.00 on the lunch menu. The food was ok . I don't know anybody there and nothing against them. I had lunch on a Thursday with a friend. Very few people were there. They've added lots of TVs since the last time I was there (many years ago) so it's more of a sports bar than a brew pub. I had a salmon salad. The fish was nicely cooked but the salad greens were like the worst parts of romaine lettuce- the very ends. Not much to the salad other than a bit of small chunks of tomato and red onion. Could be so much better! Service was good and food arrived quickly. read more

Food was ok, fries were pretty darn good, pulled pork sandwich had a few chunks of meat, a few pickles and some slaw. For being the special, it wasn't very special. Beer wasn't too bad. What a great find for an impromptu Mother's Day dinner. We ordered take out and my husband had a beer while deciding what he wanted. We had the Brussels sprouts appetizer ( will order this again) bbq pork sandwich was good, the bun was a little wimpy, but it held up. The brisket dip was great with a really good a jus, and the fries are freshly made, the coleslaw is delicious with the heat of horseradish. We are looking forward to our next feast. Outdoor dog friendly patio. Good news for your furry friends. Friendly service also. Actually, some of the best service I have had in a bit. Felt like we had two servers making sure we got water and our beverages quickly. The beer list was fairly long too. I decided on the railroad saison which was perfect for a hot summer like day. Refreshing and bubbly. My friend and I both had pub burgers which were just right with beer. Cooked just over medium and on a fresh bun that was not too doughy and your choice of cheese. I had pepper jack cheese which had the perfect amount of spice. The french fries weren't anything spectacular but served the purpose of crunchy fried potatoes. A solid beer and food situation here. Hoooraaaay! They have their own beers on tap again! We enjoyed the Porter and the Brown. Decided to stop in for lunch today and were so happy to discover that their beer is now on tap. They should be promoting this, right? Well, it's no on their menu. There is a list of their beers on a chalkboard in the bar area, however, this cannot be seen from the dining area. And here's a helpful tip. People who enjoy craft beer like to see a list of everything you have on tap. I hate it when someone asks me what kind of beer do you like instead of giving me a list. I like EVERY kind of beer and like to try new things. Sometimes I will choose a beer then choose a food that goes with it instead of vice versa. So, for the love of Pete, please just print out a list for me or put one in the plastic stand on the table. The food was really good. I had the blackened cod tacos. Three small street tacos with fresh blackened (warm!!) Cod, a bit of Slaw, avocado and Cilantro cream sauce. These came with a side of sweet potatoes. I will likely get this again next time we come. My hubs really enjoyed his 2 piece fish and chips. The cod was nice and dense and tasted super fresh. Not overly battered like some places. There was the right amount of food on the plate - perfectly satisfying while leaving room for beer and dessert. If you are looking for huge portions, this is not your kind of place. We will definitely be back. It's right off I-5, so a great place to stop between Seattle and Bellingham. We look forward to trying more of their beers! Cheers, all! read more

Stopped in on a whim passing through Mount Vernon. Needed a lunch stop but didn't want to get too fussy or take too long about it. SRB had the right vibe right away. Nice comfortable layout. GAME ROOM upstairs (didn't get to try it) and tons of taps to choose from! I talked hubby into a burger with Swiss Cheese, bourbon mushrooms, caramelized onions and a horseradish sauce. Now understand Hubby doesn't LIKE Swiss cheese but people, some flavors are just a natural and should NOT be argued with. Burger came with our fries upgraded to the truffle Park fries. We even got our tartar sauce. The one bummer was that we asked to get our fries first because we ALWAYS order them first and for some reason, we were told by our server that this wasn't an option ‍ Speaking or server, she was super nice and we enjoyed her personality and attentiveness a great deal. Oh, and their iced tea is legit too. I would come back here again. If you are in the area and haven't tried it, you should. And if you happen to find yourself passing thru quaint MV, it's worth the stop. Be prepared for the loud freight trains rushing by your table tho. They were booking. I have to update my prior review from a year ago... I ordered a bowl of chili and a salad. The chili. Was really a chunky tomato soup with a few pieces of smoked brisket. I reviewed this restaurant in 2021 as 2-star, so this is my very positive update! First of all, the service was amazing. The two servers were both very friendly and accommodating. The woman in the bar took time to explain the beers on tap and gave my husband three samples. Contrary to our last visit, there were a number of in-house brews available. Food was very good!! This was just a snack so we split a BBQ brisket sandwich. It was delicious, and I liked the addition of their horseradish coleslaw to the sandwich. Excellent hot, fresh, gluten-free fries. I can't speak too highly of our experience this time around. To his credit, the owner at that time offered us a free meal that we never collected on. But I believe ownership has changed since 2021. My family and I had a nice time here. The food quality surprised us and it was good. Options are limited at the moment but we were fine with that. Our server was a little distracted it seemed as she forgot a few things we had talked about, but she remembered them all later down the line. This time it barely gets 4 because the club sandwich was not good. They used processed turkey loaf and ham loaf. Neither even tasted like the meat they were purported to be. first want to say that we had good service. But, I was very disappointed with the food. Stopped here thinking the food was going to be incredible, given that their menu was very small. I got the nachos, which I would have expected to have been with fresh made chips and melted cheese. They came out cold and it was a bed of nachos with meat, and a side of queso, a container of sour cream and salsa. The queso i will say was good, but the salsa had a funny taste to it. My husband got the skagit flats pizza with pepperoni and sausage. In his words: "I could've gotten 4 pizzas at Little Caeser's for the price of this. And they would've been better. And bigger." Well, first off for a brewery, you should have more beer options than one IPA. Our party all had different beers and all complained about a odd taste to them almost like dirty taps.. The food is trying to be way too pretentious. Like putting a aïoli with horseradish and blue cheese the horseradish covers the taste of everything else. I got the peanut butter burger today, and while it tasted decent, I could tell my the temp and the image of my wilted salad that they had both been sitting for a while. What a disaster. We were on our way up to Canada and wanted to stop for lunch and a beer. It was a Monday (8/4) and the place wasn't crowded. They appeared to have only one server, but again, it wasn't crowded. My mom and I each ordered a beer and decided to split a burger. The beers came in due time, but the burger didn't come for an hour! We asked several times and the last time, literally asked the server if we should just give up and leave. Lo and behold, there was our burger. Because we'd been there for an hour and 15 minutes at this point, I asked for the bill and she brought us the wrong bill or just wrang us up incorrectly. I pointed it out and the waitress said, 'I'll take care of take of this.' I asked her what she meant by that and she reiterated that she 'would take care of it' as it was her mistake. We took that to mean that we wouldn't be billed. So we left a $20 tip because we didn't want her to be completely out of the lunch. My mom just got her credit card bill - they tagged us for $39 and we also left the $20 tip. So we paid $60 for 2 beers and one burger that took almost an hour and half! RUN AWAY!!! read more

Been here twice since they reopened, both times have been great. Their beer selection is good, a variety of what everybody drinks. The wife and I had ambers both visits and they were both very good. The food selection is like a bowling alley, not that that's a bad thing. Wife had the disha ND chips both visits cause it was a great portion and great taste. She loves the coleslaw, not overly wet but had great taste. I've had the wings both times. Cooked crispy but not oily and pretty good on the meat side. The fries are crisp and great with the wing dips. I had the Chile cheese fries the first time and they were great. Nott big on beans in my chili but it was still tasty. I would like to preface this review with my deepest desire to have been able to leave a 5 star review. You see, we have an accumulation of memorable moments here that go back almost 20 years. This has been a mainstay for my husband & I. We have enjoyed this as a stopping point for refreshment incorporated with long motorcycle rides, including our pooches. So it stands to reason that the convenience of the outside deck and the option to bring our dog is a bonus. Side note, SRB has very recently reopened from new ownership with some slight changes. We looked forward to the new changes and enjoying one of our favorite haunts. Initially we weren't impressed for a couple of reasons, a) being we weren't sure the place was open. We noticed the sandwich board on the deck (Odd location as it typically would be out on the sidewalk to alert passers by that they were now open.) However, we were pleased to hear life from within letting us know that they were open. Hubby took the pooch and sat at a table on the deck. I went inside to make sure they were serving outside and alert them to our presence. But it appeared they were understaffed. The waitress I could see was busy. But eventually she took notice of me. Once our seating was confirmed that outdoor service was ok, we were content for the most part. Love the new menu, as I personally do not like being overwhelmed by a long list of options. The new menu does not disappoint. A 2nd waitress took our order. Hubby chose the Reuben and I chose the Blue Harvest. We were both satisfied. Now here comes b) We spent more time there than we had planned for obvious reasons. The food took way more time than it should to receive and truth be told, it wasn't that incredibly busy. But busy enough to keep a couple of waitresses busier than they could manage in a timely fashion. Add that our waitress was also bartending. Couple that with whatever was going on in the kitchen. Because when I went in, I saw one person in the kitchen. Here again, It could be under staffing there as well. I don't know. We arrived around 5:30p and left just shy of 7:30p. We had not anticipated spending that much time there. Now having said that, our waitress was as accommodating as she could be considering the load she was carrying. Again, as I prefaced we want so very much for SRB to be a success as this has been a part of our life for many years and we hope for many memory making years to come. Making sure that the establishment obviously appears to be open is paramount. Case in point, we heard a couple small groups verbalizing the same concern we had and that was whether or not the place was open. Again, maybe having the sandwich board out on the sidewalk may clarify that. Perhaps encouraging the wait persons to keep one eye peeled for newly arriving customers may be helpful. Having to stand for some time waiting to be seated (Of course this is only if you're sitting outside) but waiting without acknowledgement for sometime would move many to move onto the next establishment. We understand, being business owners for 25+ years and seeing the repercussions of this side of the pandemic. The outcome is glaring. Good help is hard to find. Many do not want to work or desire a paycheck without putting forth effort. We totally get the struggle. In all likelihood it's a new beginning with some hiccups to smooth out coupled with the aforementioned of hiring workers. None the less, we will be back. No doubt about it. I just wanted to express the concerns and hope this is helpful. As things improve (And I'm leaning toward that positive outcome) I will update my review moving forward. read more
