Some ups and down here, figuratively and literally, but I admit my perspective is probably one of a customer looking for the exact things they just happen to be bad at, and customers with different priorities will likely have a different experience. Case in point: I like dark beers, especially in cooler weather. They had a porter, which tasted tangy but not quite like a sour, and a stout, which mysteriously tasted very like an English porter, but too light a body for a stout, certainly no creamy head to speak of, and again that sour note. Whatevs. The drink menu is mostly chock-a-block with IPAs, blondes and lagers - ambers and darks are perhaps just not in their wheelhouse. We also came because they supposedly have a pool table here. And they do - tucked away in a dimly lit corner upstairs. We had to ask the waitress to turn on the lights for us, but only a mostly-burned out string of Costco tivoli lights served to illuminate the space. It was very hard to see the balls, or our food. Food? We had a flatbread pizza and Brussels. They were ok. They're probably better at sandwiches...again, we hit 'em where they ain't... So, the "up and down" bit: If you want to sit upstairs, fine, but you must order downstairs. Want to use a restroom? Downstairs. All done and ready to close tab? Downstairs. The bartender (running the place solo, apparently) was gracious and accommodating in bringing us food and refills upstairs, though, and we tipped accordingly. Good service. Well we will start off with the only real issue is the stupid parking and the one way signal. Well hubby ordered the beautiful clubhouse sandwich with chili and I the fish and chips. Now you all know that I am one very picky eater I will be able to identify the best thing or the worst in a bite or two. It is 1:30 on a Thursday afternoon. I had heard they had good fish chips. So I already knew what I was going to be ordering. Hubby was going to order the same thing except a spied clubhouse sandwich, which is really hard to find these days and we just ordered a clubhouse sandwich with chili and we would split the both meals mine and his. Well let me tell you I was kind of regretted offering to split my fish and chips after the first bite. But I quickly snatched a half of his sandwich as he was chowing down on the lovely brisket chili. I knew it had to be extra extraordinary as he didn't even offer the smallest of bites to his wife. He just kept going on about how amazing that chili was. I never did get a bite. I didn't even ask I suppose in hindsight I should've because he informed me three different times. I would come here just for this chili. Now I suppose you all know by now my hubby will eat just about anything. He will rarely ever say something is bad. Hearing him say something is spectacular is just shocking . He informed me that that was the best chili he has eaten outside of New Mexico. I look at him and inform him that the fries are really very good. He looks at me with utter shock like I said the sea is pink with kangaroos swimming in it. He doesn't understand the words coming out of my mouth because I never say them I'm not a FRY girl. In fact I rarely even order fries, but it's fish and chips after all, you gotta do it. Mind you I'm about to take my first bite of this very nice very light very very, very beautiful piece of deep fried fish. I have my lime and squeeze it onto my first fish then dip a lovely piece of fish into the well bodied tartar sauce, and Nirvana absolute pure Nirvana. I am beyond aesthetic that this fish is within a mile of my doctors office. I am thrilled beyond words that it is not oily. It's not greasy. It is not overcooked. It is just perfection. I know that word coming out of my mouth is uncommon. I get that I'm gonna stand behind that fish until I'm dead. It was that good! Let's talk about that sandwich shall we this is Hand cut ham smoked turkey is beautiful the garlic mayo is amazing. The bacon is a little too crisp for me, but the toast is toasted correctly a little too much mayo on center toast but other than that the lettuce has not wilted by some miracle, and it is falling apart halfway through, but you can't expect anything more. Everything that was supposed to be dry was dry. Everything that was supposed to be moist was moist everything it was supposed to be crisp was crisp . There's three pieces of toast trying to hold that whole puppy together. It was an exceptional sandwich, and I finished a half of it, which I never eat that much food in one sitting so Hubby had a piece of fish. We took a piece of fish home. I had a piece of fish he ate the terrific bowl of chili and we both finished our sandwiches. Was it worth the $60? Hell yes all day long will I make it a monthly habit probably not but when I need fish and chips, I don't have to agonize any longer where I can find such Nirvana . Service by the way was great. Our waitress was absolutely friendly and sweet. She was the only one there she was taking way more tables and tending the bar too. Personally she had no business taken care of that many tables and the bar too but she handled it all beautifully and she gave us some advice. We talked about me being a FOOD snot /snob and she gave us a couple of names of restaurants if we were going to be visiting other areas of the PNW. I had admitted that I had not found any edible fish and chips in the Stanwood Camano area. Kristin thank you so very much for everything. We will be bringing our out of town guests to enjoy the great service and outstanding food soon! But next time I will have to just make sure that I get some of that chili for myself since clearly the hubby won't share his. Charming atmosphere and bathroom had both soap and paper towels! Table was clean. Tv was set for fifa and was not too loud at the time of day. The food arrived quickly and everything that was supposed to be hot was hot and everything that was supposed to be cold was cold and there's plenty of napkins and silverware. I don't know why this place isn't packed in the evenings. The food, like most any brewery or pub, is delicious, there is plenty of variety, and they have many great brewskis on tap. My absolute favorite is the Skagit BLTA and my husband cannot pass up their brisket chili. The interior is very woody and rustic with several tv's so you don't have to miss the game. They have an upstairs with a pool table, but it seems to rarely be used. If you're there when the train goes by, it'll scare your pants off, as the tracks are in crazy close proximity to the building! Cool brewery if you are looking for low-key. The deck is sweet in the summertime when your fur babies are welcome to join you. read more

I've been to Skagit River Brewery before but I believe they were at a different location but that was years ago. It was nice to return to it however and experience it once again. For my visit to this brewery the beer I had was the Steelie Brown Ale. This was a pretty good brown ale for sure. Flavor highlights with this beer are malty, biscuity, sweet and smoky. The beer is also fairly rich. It was pleasant to get a brown ale again as they are somewhat of an infrequent beer type for me and when I do get them the return is typically a pleasant one. I had lunch on a Thursday with a friend. Very few people were there. They've added lots of TVs since the last time I was there (many years ago) so it's more of a sports bar than a brew pub. I had a salmon salad. The fish was nicely cooked but the salad greens were like the worst parts of romaine lettuce- the very ends. Must of been the 2nd week in February. Me my wife and brother all experienced the same thing. The beer was horrible. Not sure if the recent flooding had something to do with it. My wife ordered a simple Pilsner and myself and brother ordered an amber. The Pilsner tasted like pond water and our ambers tasted off also. We told the waitress of the problem and my wife ordered a blonde and it was off also. The waitress didn't really say anything just dumbfounded. I think they are pretty proud of their food also. There wasn't really anything under 20.00 on the lunch menu. The food was ok . I don't know anybody there and nothing against them. What a great find for an impromptu Mother's Day dinner. We ordered take out and my husband had a beer while deciding what he wanted. We had the Brussels sprouts appetizer ( will order this again) bbq pork sandwich was good, the bun was a little wimpy, but it held up. The brisket dip was great with a really good a jus, and the fries are freshly made, the coleslaw is delicious with the heat of horseradish. We are looking forward to our next feast. Outdoor dog friendly patio. Good news for your furry friends. Friendly service also. Actually, some of the best service I have had in a bit. Felt like we had two servers making sure we got water and our beverages quickly. The beer list was fairly long too. I decided on the railroad saison which was perfect for a hot summer like day. Refreshing and bubbly. My friend and I both had pub burgers which were just right with beer. Cooked just over medium and on a fresh bun that was not too doughy and your choice of cheese. I had pepper jack cheese which had the perfect amount of spice. The french fries weren't anything spectacular but served the purpose of crunchy fried potatoes. A solid beer and food situation here. Hoooraaaay! They have their own beers on tap again! We enjoyed the Porter and the Brown. Decided to stop in for lunch today and were so happy to discover that their beer is now on tap. They should be promoting this, right? Well, it's no on their menu. There is a list of their beers on a chalkboard in the bar area, however, this cannot be seen from the dining area. And here's a helpful tip. People who enjoy craft beer like to see a list of everything you have on tap. I hate it when someone asks me what kind of beer do you like instead of giving me a list. I like EVERY kind of beer and like to try new things. Sometimes I will choose a beer then choose a food that goes with it instead of vice versa. So, for the love of Pete, please just print out a list for me or put one in the plastic stand on the table. The food was really good. I had the blackened cod tacos. Three small street tacos with fresh blackened (warm!!) Cod, a bit of Slaw, avocado and Cilantro cream sauce. These came with a side of sweet potatoes. I will likely get this again next time we come. My hubs really enjoyed his 2 piece fish and chips. The cod was nice and dense and tasted super fresh. Not overly battered like some places. There was the right amount of food on the plate - perfectly satisfying while leaving room for beer and dessert. If you are looking for huge portions, this is not your kind of place. Stopped in on a whim passing through Mount Vernon. Needed a lunch stop but didn't want to get too fussy or take too long about it. SRB had the right vibe right away. Nice comfortable layout. GAME ROOM upstairs (didn't get to try it) and tons of taps to choose from! I talked hubby into a burger with Swiss Cheese, bourbon mushrooms, caramelized onions and a horseradish sauce. Now understand Hubby doesn't LIKE Swiss cheese but people, some flavors are just a natural and should NOT be argued with. Burger came with our fries upgraded to the truffle Park fries. We even got our tartar sauce. The one bummer was that we asked to get our fries first because we ALWAYS order them first and for some reason, we were told by our server that this wasn't an option ‍ Speaking or server, she was super nice and we enjoyed her personality and attentiveness a great deal. Oh, and their iced tea is legit too. I would come back here again. If you are in the area and haven't tried it, you should. And if you happen to find yourself passing thru quaint MV, it's worth the stop. Be prepared for the loud freight trains rushing by your table tho. They were booking. I've been to restaurants with slow service, but this one takes the prize. There were several occupied tables when we arrived around 2 PM on a Sunday afternoon; 3 teens and 3 adults. We ordered 2 burgers, a fish and chips, a Caesar salad and a side salad, one Pepsi and 5 waters, along with one appetizer. The appetizer got to us after 55 minutes and when that was eaten like we were starved dogs, we got 1 refill on the waters. Our waiter had a difficult time finding his smile and friendly, welcoming demeanor. I'm virtually positive he'd had an awful day with crowds from the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. That said, it was 2 PM and when you make your living from happy diners, you put aside your complaining feet and fragile l nerves and greet your people pleasantly. There are now 6 tables occupied and still no food (we are at 1 hour 15 minutes). I truly hope this salad is extraordinary, but I'm not holding much hope! Sorry, folks! I am fairly positive we won't be back! On a little more positive note, we finally got our food; it was average pub fare and the salads we typically bagged, but cold and crisp. first want to say that we had good service. But, I was very disappointed with the food. Stopped here thinking the food was going to be incredible, given that their menu was very small. I got the nachos, which I would have expected to have been with fresh made chips and melted cheese. They came out cold and it was a bed of nachos with meat, and a side of queso, a container of sour cream and salsa. The queso i will say was good, but the salsa had a funny taste to it. My husband got the skagit flats pizza with pepperoni and sausage. In his words: "I could've gotten 4 pizzas at Little Caeser's for the price of this. And they would've been better. And bigger." Well, first off for a brewery, you should have more beer options than one IPA. Our party all had different beers and all complained about a odd taste to them almost like dirty taps.. The food is trying to be way too pretentious. Like putting a aïoli with horseradish and blue cheese the horseradish covers the taste of everything else. I reviewed this restaurant in 2021 as 2-star, so this is my very positive update! First of all, the service was amazing. The two servers were both very friendly and accommodating. The woman in the bar took time to explain the beers on tap and gave my husband three samples. Contrary to our last visit, there were a number of in-house brews available. Food was very good!! This was just a snack so we split a BBQ brisket sandwich. It was delicious, and I liked the addition of their horseradish coleslaw to the sandwich. Excellent hot, fresh, gluten-free fries. I can't speak too highly of our experience this time around. To his credit, the owner at that time offered us a free meal that we never collected on. But I believe ownership has changed since 2021. Update on my previous review which was a 4 star: service is still good. This is the second time I've come in, waited an awful amount of time for my food to arrive, only to have it barely warm. I got the peanut butter burger today, and while it tasted decent, I could tell my the temp and the image of my wilted salad that they had both been sitting for a while. This time it barely gets 4 because the club sandwich was not good. They used processed turkey loaf and ham loaf. Neither even tasted like the meat they were purported to be. Been here twice since they reopened, both times have been great. Their beer selection is good, a variety of what everybody drinks. The wife and I had ambers both visits and they were both very good. The food selection is like a bowling alley, not that that's a bad thing. Wife had the disha ND chips both visits cause it was a great portion and great taste. She loves the coleslaw, not overly wet but had great taste. I've had the wings both times. Cooked crispy but not oily and pretty good on the meat side. The fries are crisp and great with the wing dips. I had the Chile cheese fries the first time and they were great. Nott big on beans in my chili but it was still tasty. The staff has been extremely friendly both visits and made us feel welcomed. Will be back read more
