When I mentioned the bike I liked there was not the color I was looking for, I was told if I care that much about the color maybe this isn't the place for me... the condescending tone and comments were uncalled for and I'm not going to waste money there. There are too many other nice bike shops that will happily help me find the bike I want. He helped us with some broken pedals (even lending us some of his spares while we waited for the new ones to arrive), a damaged tire and inner tube, worn brakes, selecting and installing a kickstand that would work for our specific bike, and fixing a malfunctioning bike pump that we thought was beyond salvaging. Scheduling was super easy, he even came within the hour on one occasion which is above and beyond what one could expect from a bike shop! Dave is also just a pleasant and cool person to be around; while he was working on our bike, several of our neighbors stopped and struck up a conversation with him! They spent a lot of time on this, checking everything from cleats, insoles, heel risers, crank arm length, seat positions and saddle pressures, etc, all the way to the hoods distance and angle. I have a RAD Power Bike (ebike) that kept getting flat tires every 7-10 days. Over the course of 12…read moremos and 13 flat tires, four different bike techs were baffled and called it just an unusual case of bad luck. I finally brought the bike to 90+ this past October and they figured out the issue right away. (A little piece of wire that was hiding somewhere near where the spokes entered the wheel.) They just fixed it, didn't try to upsell me anything else. I developed an instant trust and respect for these guys' bike knowledge.

However, there is sometimes a place for "experts", people who do a thing, who have trained, and prepared, and have the tools to achieve a correct outcome. There is nothing wrong with getting some tips for a minor problem, and (if you are a bit handy) taking the DIY route on something. However there are some things that we should leave to those who have trained, worked hard to acheive the skills to do a thing; governance, surgery, complex plumbing, electric, tree felling, bicycle derailleurs! I have the luxury of being able to leave work in the middle of a day on Friday. I called, they were available, we drove over, they took the bike right in. Had some pleasant conversation, they fixed it in 15 minutes ($20), and educated us [they always do]. We have been here 3 times now, and 3 times an absolutely 100% positive experience. This is a quality business, with capable caring folks. Good products/service/expertise isn't "cheap" it shouldn't be. This place cares about the work they do, they care about cyclists and they are an excellent resource. This is our new "go to".
