The owner is soooooo friendly and nice!! If you have any problem for your ski and snowboard, this one should be the top choice for you in the north Cal! Their service is the best and they have passion for snow sport! Their price is so low at Bay Area!

My family has been coming here for our ski and snowboard rentals for years and we always recommend our friends here too. They are very accommodating and have some of the best rates in the area. Maria is SOO sweet and always makes my day with her positive energy and smile. Will definitely be back!

They've been fantastic for me, for example giving me 2 pairs of skis to use for the price of one when I was not sure which I'd like.

Hi, Do I need to make three separate appointments for three people fittings?

Hi, the appointment menu says to schedule one appointment per individual. A family of four does take longer to provide service for than one person, especially if clothing and helmets are needed. Another consideration would be if this is a fitting…

    Do you sell snowboards?

Hi Peter, we are strictly rental. REI provides excellent boards for sale. TSR

Do you mount Marker Ski Bindings?

Yes, we do mount Marker. Primarily squire and griffon. We do not mount marker touring.

Can I rent snow boots for my 6 year old kids?

Hi, We rent ski and snowboard boots for 6 year olds but not boots to play in the snow.…

Hi! Do they snowboard repairs? Like small cracks on edges of snowboards?

Hi. We do sharpen edges (the metal rails on base of skis and snowboards.

We booked the bike about a week in advance for a full day for $65, and it was ready for pickup when we arrived. The staff did a safety inspection and let us know that helmets are included with the rental and that we could return the bike to any Sports Basement location. My friend also asked if they could leave their backpack there, and the staff kept it behind the desk, which was really nice. The bike was in good condition! We rode it for 4-5 hours with no issues. A few things I wanted to point out - the seat was pretty narrow and hard, which made it uncomfortable to sit on. It had been a while since I last biked, so I'm not sure if I just need to wear padded shorts or if the seat wasn't the right fit for me. Another thing is that I couldn't sit in the front because the seat was too tall for me to comfortably reach the pedals, and there didn't seem to be an easy way to adjust the height. Lastly, it would've been nice to have a phone mount on the handlebar for navigation. We turned in the bike at the end of the day. Overall, the process was very smooth, the staff were friendly, and the rental was affordable. I would do it again, but I'd wear padded shorts next time :)

We went not completely sure which bike we wanted or the best fit. The staff working was very informative and spent a lot of time explaining options and tradeoffs. I appreciate they didn't just push us to the most expensive options. Rather, they took the time to understand his preferences and use for the bike and then made a few recommendations. They were very patient the entire time, letting him test ride multiple bikes until he found the perfect one. We had such a great experience that we went back to purchase a second bike later that evening!

During the World Cup they were selling a specific World Cup pin that other stores didn't carry or you had to pay double the price for it online. I checked the inventory on the store website and it said they have about 6 in stock, so I went in to grab it. Upon entering I was greeted immediately and found that the World Cup section was directly upfront by the registers which was great, but I wasn't successful in finding the pin, so the cashier tried helping look for it and we had no luck. They doubled check to see if there were any in the back, but there weren't. I was told it's here but misplaced somewhere else and they had no clue. I was on the hunt for this pin and no other locations at Dicks had it except for the Sunnyvale location. I was disappointed I couldn't get the pin, but the people here were really nice and tried to locate it.

Posting this as a cautionary tale for anyone buying shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods - Sunnyvale…read more This would have been a one star rating if not for Xavier in Footwear. Excellent service and attitude. I bought a pair of On Cloud shoes and within 5 days realized they were too big. The issue only showed up in real-world use: when walking downhill my foot slid forward into the toe box. That's not something you reliably catch by taking a few steps indoors. I went back to do a simple exchange (not a refund). The shoes were clean and in excellent condition. The only visible difference was very slight yellowing on the outsole contact pads -- noticeable under their bright store lighting but not dirty, or damaged. At first I was told the exchange would be fine. After further inspection, they reversed course and said the shoes were not "resaleable" due to wear. I spoke with multiple people (each initially identifying themselves as "the manager" before clarifying their role), and after a lot of back and forth the best options offered were: * 15% off a replacement pair, or * $60 store credit as a "no receipt return" value (they said this reflects the lowest recent selling price and excludes clearance). I ultimately took the $60 credit because my time is worth something and I needed the correct size. But the key takeaway is this: If you buy shoes here, assume you cannot test them outdoors -- even briefly -- without risking being denied an exchange. The 90-day return policy sounds generous, but in practice footwear appears to need to look completely unworn to qualify. I'm sharing this so others don't make the same assumption I did.

We needed snowboarding gear - the whole shebang - and he spent ages with us, patiently explaining all the differences between boards, boots, gloves, the lot! He even made sure we got a helmet that actually fit (which is harder than it sounds!). It wasn't just about selling us stuff; he really made sure we got exactly what we needed. And he mentioned their snowboard service, to get the snowboard ready to use, which was a lifesaver knowing we're total newbies! Seriously, we were in the store for about four hours, and Thomas was fantastic the entire time. He's super knowledgeable and friendly - he made the whole experience fun, not stressful at all. He deserves a massive pat on the back (and maybe a bonus!). Also the whole store was 50% off which made it a deal to get everything needed for the rest of the season and into next!

The guy work there is rude and refuse to acknowledge mistake and blame us and my daughter for it. Today we came in to get my daughter a new ski boot since she feels the boot is not comfortable. They fitted my daughter 17.5 today, but the boot we got last year is 18.5. Surprised by this, we actually found out they sold us a boot of 18.5 shell with 17.5 liner last year! When I asked the guy (who seems to be in charge) how it happened and what can we do, he became rude and says that the boot is trash now and it doesn't matter what they sold us last year. He even blame my 6 year old daughter for walking on the toe. Sure the boot has some wear on the toe pad but come on, you blame a 6 year old girl for your own mistake? When we look closely, the liner can move a lot inside the shell. I cannot imagine how my daughter was able to ski 40days last season with ski team. I told him she can get injured due to this. You know what he says? "Ski is dangerous sport and you can get injured in lots of ways". COME ON! All I wanted was some professional opinion on how to deal with a mismatch between shell and liner and an apology on their mistake. But the response I get is this. What further puzzled me is that how come they boot fitted my daughter 18.5 last year and 17.5 this year. Apparently they don't know what they are doing, or not willing to do it correctly.

With a family of five and now traveling with extra sports equipment, cramming everything into our SUV just isn't realistic anymore. We already had crossbars and tower attachments, but weren't sure they were the right fit. We were considering a Thule storage box but didn't know which size would work best, so I brought to them a mix of borrowed parts from friends to test things out before buying. Mike was incredibly helpful from the moment we arrived. He walked us through Yakima vs. Thule components, explained the differences and similarities, priced out multiple options, and made sure we understood exactly what would fit our vehicle. He also let me know that they price match if that was a concern for me. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely invested in helping us get the right setup. After realizing Thule was the better direction, I returned for updated estimates -- and again, Mike delivered exceptional service. The day before our trip, I went back to purchase the Thule towers, and JP provided the same top‑tier experience. He showed me how to assemble everything, made sure the locks were installed correctly, and ensured I felt confident using the equipment. I'm truly grateful for the expertise, honesty, and customer care The Rack Spot provided. If you're considering bike racks, storage boxes, or any vehicle rack system, I highly recommend this shop. Their knowledge and service are unmatched.

My super favorite trusted bike shop…read morein Los Altos had recommended a very similar well-regarded competitor (based in San Jose) to get a hitch, bike rack, and installation. It turns out my Infiniti QX 50 can only take one hitch and only one bike rack, so options were pretty limited. After getting a solid quote from this competitor for all three (but pricey in aggregate), I called The Rack Spot just as a reality check. Will picked up the phone and I was blown away by his customer service and the shop's pricing! Without knowing who I had already talked to, Will freely offered pretty good discounts on both the rack and hitch as part of their normal pricing policy, but he then gave me some market color on the Curt hitch I was looking to buy. He went a further step by suggesting that I just order the hitch on my own online and coached me through it, since the shop had just gone through a really steep price hike and it would probably be cheaper to get it my own. I also needed it installed quickly for our trip a week from now, and Will helped me manage the logistics to ensure everything would work out well and placed the order right then and there (the other shop only puts their orders in on Mondays, so I would have had to wait 5 days). All in all, I saved $700 by going to these guys ($1900 elsewhere), so I will be referring everyone to The Rack Spot from now on!
