I also got to rent socks that they recommended worked best with their ski boots and returned them alongside skis and boots at the end. You can rent snowboard equipment here too, similar setup where they measure your foot size, explain how best to put on and tighten the boots. Everything is well taken care of and in good quality. Their scheduling system is pretty flexible online, there's several afternoon slots most days and dropoff is also easy. It was early evening and I had given up on him being able to have his ski lesson because no one had ski boots that fit his feet after searching and having him try on ski boots for hours! Solid place to rent snow gear, amazing service and extremely fair pricing. We rent my son's ski gear as he is 6 and grows in spurts, I'm just also not wanting to commit to buying or dealing with used gear bindings that can be on an indemnification list. They take a lot of effort in making sure everything fits correctly. I really enjoyed my experience here and recommend them highly! Darryl helped us and he is so kind and friendly. He went out of his way to try multiple helmets for my son and waxed his skis perfectly. The staff is always kind and helpful, sharing their tribal wisdom of which Tahoe resorts are best for what you're looking for (ex snow quality in the spring, minimal crowds, value/price etc). And their gear selection is excellent. It's a great way for me to try new snowboard sizes and brands before buying. We're so happy to be back renting skis here for the season. We've been a long time customer but took a hiatus during the pandemic. I love supporting Small Local Businesses like this one that PRIDE themselves in SERVICE and QUALITY of their equipment. My husband forgot to call in advance to make an appointment (as usual) for our fittings but Maria took us in even after they were closed for the day. **Big department stores will not do that.** On top of that Darryl took his time making sure the boots fit perfectly and even gave us some pro tips. I truly appreciate the attention to detail and the extra care he gave me regarding the best boot fit since I had a recent ankle break. The appointment was easy to make online and the owners were so incredibly nice; they helped me get fitted for my first time skiing again after over a decade long. This place is really special. I had a pair of skis that needed fixing and I called the Ski Renter out of desperation. REI turned down my repairs because the damage was too small, but these Stocklis are the most valuable thing I own and I would pay any amount of money to see even small delaminations fixed. Darryl picked up the phone and told me to bring the skis in. Darryl took one look at the skis and said he agreed with REI - the damage was small and generally not worth fixing. But given how much I love these Stocklis he said he'd fix it. The crazy thing is he said he'd do it for free. I told him I insisted on paying for them but he said not to worry about it. I looked around the shop for things I could buy, but he again said not to worry about it because they're a simple rental shop and have nothing to sell. I was pretty shocked. I imagine business must be tough during COVID and here he is offering his time and resources for free. That's something. Even crazier, when I picked up the skis I found out he waxed them, and, went out of his way to paint the epoxy so it'd match my skis. Wicked! Anyway, any business that operates with this kind of kindness, especially these days during COVID, well, it's a special business. And it's the kind of business I'd pay more money to out of loyalty. But I hear that's not necessary anyway because their rental prices are the best in the area. Side note - they have a lot of great skis for rental. Earlier this season I rented my skis elsewhere and I could really only choose between a handful of skis, none of which would show up in any top 10 lists. But this place has every flavor of Nordica Enforcer (the #1 hottest skis for the past few seasons) and even the Soul Riders I had my eyes on. They've got a bunch of other brands as well. Anyway, this place is a gem in the Bay Area. I spend thousands of dollars each season at Sports Basement and REI, and I love those places too, but if I'm looking for a rental or a repair I'd start here. read more

Rented a board, boots, helmet and full set of ski clothes from them for the weekend (4 days although they let me pick it up a day early on Thurs when I went to get fitted) for $100 ($55 for board/boots and $45 for everything else) to go up to Tahoe. A binding strap broke on the first day while I was doing lessons and when the instructors couldn't unscrew the part to try to replace it I had to go to the rental shop on the mountain and rent new bindings when they said they didn't have the parts for ~$60 for two days. When I went to return the equipment/clothes they refunded me the full $55 of the snowboard/boots rental which albeit slightly less than the cost of renting bindings seemed fair enough. read more

I booked a time ahead, but it was not honored and people were served in the order they had showed up. It took about 30 minutes with a person in front of us and also the same time was spent on us. Prepare to spend a lot of time waiting. They gave us multiple boots to try and also looked for good fit for skis and other gear. We got what we needed. The gear had a lot of ware marks, but I didn't care about it. They adjusted our skis well and they came off only when we fell hard. Just right I would say. All employees were nice to us, but they are very busy. I would go back and rent again from there, because the price is so good. read more

I just rented boots and skis for the first time from them this past weekend and it was absolutely a great experience. Website is straight forward for appointments and they had 3 people in the shop, including myself and my friend, for appointments total, along with 3 staff members. All had their masks on, the door was open, and maintained social distancing inside. The owner was also absolutely fantastic in giving skiing tips and making sure the boot fit properly with the right socks and leggings/pants. Great customer service, they were all patient and had great attitudes. When I walked in, the owner was even giving another customer YouTube recommendations for ski tips. My friends and I rented several sets of skis, boots, poles for a ski trip to Tahoe during Christmas. We compared different ski rental stores, and found our here provides the best price! The equipment was solid and new! People working there are very experienced and easy to communicate. One of my friends lost her rented skis in the heavenly resort and we came back frustrated, ready to pay penalty fee for the lost skis. The boss here comforted us saying that the skis may have mistakenly taken by other people, and there is a great chance it will be returned to other ski rental shops in the next few weeks, and we should wait. He holds on charging penalty fees until further news about the ski. And today he told us that the lost ski turned up in a rental shop in north star, and we don't need to worry about it. That's so lucky and thankful to the Ski Renter of Mountain View! The whole process of interacting with people working in the store is nice, professional, friendly, understanding, and empathetic. If you need to rent ski, here is your best choice. I will definitely come back and recommend all my friends coming here for sure!! But a good lesson we learned is that skis look pretty similar. People are usually excited when they are ready for the slopes, so it's not uncommon to get skis swapped when we go for lunch and leave it on the public ski rack in the resort. We were lucky this time, but in the future should keep a closer eye on our rented skis more in the ski resort- putting a name tag with a contact number on it should be a good idea. read more

The quality of the equipment was also far superior to anything I have ever gotten at a ski shop in Tahoe or at the resort. Such a great place that I made an account to give them a review. My friend and I came in 30 minutes before closing without a reservation, and they stayed late to help us. We came for a board and ski rental, and the pricing was amazing. One day of rentals at Tahoe was the same price as a week here. They let us try on gear that we weren't even going to use (ie snowboard gear for a skier). They were so friendly and nice that they also threw in a pair of high end goggles to demo during the week!
