Worst service. Cleaning is a joke. Initial cleaning was cancelled due to scheduling conflict. I let that slide so when rescheduled the job was not done as requested. Requested deep cleaning and baseboards were still dusty , hardwood was stickier before they came. Not sure if it was the cleaner they used or what. Never again. read more

Skilled Maids has several good reviews on Yelp and to be honest, they do a good job. There's always room for improvement, and they always seem to listen to customers needs. If they miss one thing during a visit, if you bring it to their attention they'll make sure fix it the next time. The reason why I am rating them poorly is because they locked my partially paralyzed dog in a cold basement. I'm not sure how my dog made her way from the dog bed in the living room to the basement, but when we came home that's where she was shivering with the door deadbolted. Not cool. This was the last straw. Now normally, I would put my dog in a crate when we have cleaners just to have her out of the way. Here's the thing with Skilled Maids. They tell you what day/time they will be there, and they will then arrive many many hours later than the time given, so you don't know when to expect them and prepare. I mean at least they arrive the day they promise but you never know if they are gonna intrude hours before or after the scheduled time window. That particular day I had thought they were not gonna make it, did half the cleaning myself and went to dinner (they said they would arrive by lunch time). Apparently they arrived in the time we were gone at night. This has been a consistent issue. So to break it down, here are some of the pros and cons of this service Pros 1-Seem to be the most affordable companies out there 2-Their positive Yelp reviews speak to their trustworthiness 3-When we cancelled and explained the situation with the dog, the owner was incredibly apologetic, professional, and willing to work with us. She mailed our house key back right away Cons 1-Different teams of people come to your house each time. Some do a better job of cleaning than others 2-Each time they come in they grab several rolls of paper towels, and based on the trash output they are not all used. It's weird just how many rolls they grab. Seriously, does this business not have a Costco card to get their own? 3-Inconsistent with their sticking to their time windows. They change the window every week if you have routine cleanings. Honestly, if it had not been for the dog incident and if I didn't have time constraints with needing them there are certain times, I would have stuck with them because of their prices and their customer service. And then I would just hide the stash of paper towels. read more

My roommate moved out, leaving a mess and a lot of dog hair. I purchased a deal, 9 hours of cleaning for $250 (2 women team, 4.5 hours). They surpassed every expectation. Glass stop stove looks like new. Floors: shining. Dust: gone Windows: washed Fridge & freezer: clean I plan to have them come back monthly and never, ever let it get that bad again. Whatever cleaning products they used were effective and did not smell of bleach or perfume. Much happier with their work than other cleaning services I have used in Takoma Park. Cons: the team did not speak English. They put away a few things in the kitchen and I had to search for them. They used 2 rolls of paper towels. read more

This is very disappointing! They claimed to be a high rated cleaning company and I read most of the reviews and they were all good so I decided to try them WHAT A MISTAKE! The first cleaning was supposed to be a deep cleaning and they were charging 231.00 well I got an average cleaning and they missed cleaning part of the hardwood flooring in the family room they missed a whole section in the kitchen . My dog must have peeped next to the sofa the night before and they didn't even see that to tell me or clean it up they left it there ! And when I call the same day to complain Melissa told me to send pictures, which I did ! And she she she would send another crew by the end of the week to redo and apologized . Then after a few days nothing ! So I emailed her back and asked what is going on , and she said she had to question her crew , well it's been almost a week now ! read more

First of all, Virginia is amazing. She was really easy to work with in term of scheduling which really gave me high hopes for the service. But unfortunately, the crew didn't live up to this expectation. Two ladies came in for a move-in cleaning. They showed up within the time window which is always greatly appreciated. I explained the layout of the house to them and then got out of their way. The service was supposed to be 2 people for 3 hours each. But during the process, it was more like one person was cleaning while the other was on break constantly. 2 hours and 45 minutes later, they were getting ready to leave. I asked them if they have cleaned the inside of the kitchen cabinet, they said no; then I asked if that's within their scope of work, they said yes. I had to ask them to come back in to clean the cabinet and they did. I then paid for $285 for the service. That night I came back upstairs and to my surprise, the hardwood floor of two of the bedrooms plus the walk-in closet were not touched at all. We vacuumed the floor and it was dirty. We then checked other places and under the lower kitchen cabinets there were spider webs. We called Virginia and she gave us $40 back because that how much it would cost if we have the ladies back to clean the floor and the spider webs. While we appreciate that gesture, it's the disappointment and inconvenience that really upset us. We were expecting professional cleaning but the cleaning didn't turn out to be professional. We will not use Skilled Maids again. read more

The cleaners stole all of our cereal box tops, the ones to get money for schools. We spoke to the company about it, and the cleaners said that they thought the cereal was trash. But the boxes still had cereal in them, and they left the boxes on the counter. The company seemed overall apathetic about the situation Moral of the story: Some of the cleaners steal. read more

I've been using Skilled Maids for two years now and recently switched to regular monthly cleanings. They are great. The team is friendly, on time, and my house always looks great afterwards. I know there are some cheaper options in my area, but love their responsiveness, high quality of work, and knowing that I would get a quick resolution if there was ever an issue. There is a high level of trust involved with a service that has the key code to your home and is responsible for making sure the pets don't get out if I'm not here while they are cleaning. I contacted the company to utilize their services after receiving an email advertisement. I was scheduled initially for a morning time slot. Within a few hours, I received a follow-up call from the company canceling the appointment and requesting a later time slot due to scheduling conflicts (none of which I was at fault). The following day (less than 24 hours), I received an email (no phone call) stating that my service would be canceled due to scheduling issues and distance (even though my address was provided numerous times in previous conversations. I requested to speak with a manager, Liliane Lima at 2PM in the afternoon and was advised that no manager was available and the representative was unable to provide me with a time frame for a follow-up call. I requested a resolve and was not presented with one. I followed up on the following business day and was advised that the manager was not in the office and another message would be relayed. The lack of organization and professionalism displayed at this establishment is the only thing that is consistent. read more

Absolutely FABULOUS cleaning service!!! First, on the admin end, Lilly, the owner, "maid" the entire process effortless. This was our first time using Skilled Maids, and I'm telling you, they did NOT disappoint. Lilly and I emailed back and forth, setting up a time that was convenient for me (I LOVE that she's very flexible and will work around her customers' schedules)...she was very professional, friendly, and sweet. :) The Skilled Maids team (three professionals, total) showed up RIGHT ON TIME, very promptly, and went right to work. Roxana was the leader, and, OMG. They were INCREDIBLE. We have a two-bedroom, two-bath with loft apartment, and I cannot believe how fast and efficient they were! And THOROUGH. OMG. SO THOROUGH. I telecommute from home, and after they cleaned the master bedroom and bath, I took my laptop in there to work. Everything smelled fresh and clean and looked amazing. The didn't use ANY harsh chemicals, either. Everything was eco-friendly and green. At one point, I looked out from the bedroom - these wonderful women were cleaning the overhead light fixtures. :-O I was in heaven. They did the baseboards, all the cabinets, the appliances, all the pictures, the mirrors, etc., etc. And the costs was very reasonable. On top of all that, the team was SO nice and friendly. They worked hard, but they always smiled and were extremely polite. There truly aren't enough good things to say about Skilled Maids. We are in love, and were so happy, that we've now engaged them for monthly cleaning. If you need a great, fast, hardworking, professional, and friendly cleaning company and team - look no further. I've used skilled maids to clean my house twice a months for several months and am considering hiring another service for my needs, but they may be perfect for you. Please read my lists below before you decide. Pro: -they always come the day they say they will -they are quick, cleaning an 1100 sq ft house in less than 1 hour -they are responsive when I've requested extra attention be paid to areas of the house -they have my key and seem trust worthy -they send email reminders whenever a cleaning is scheduled -they charge me $105/visit, which is low or comparable to other cleaning services Con: -often different people come from week to week and the attention to detail is inconsistent -they aren't very thorough, I find areas they failed to clean every time -3 instances of damage have happened during cleanings and have not been reported to me (accidents happen, but should be reported) -they charge a significant fee for credit card use -as far as I can tell, they use normal chemicals and paper towels to clean, so they aren't particularly eco-friendly If you want a reliable, reasonably priced service that will do a cursory clean, then give then a try, but don't expect any particular attention to detail. read more

I gave Lilly and her team a shot and they did an amazing job on my spring deep clean service last month. I came home to a sparkling bathtub, kitchen and living room. I finally could have my whole house cleaned at once instead of my piece meal cleaning every week. They were so good and reasonably priced I have scheduled them to comeback every two weeks to take all the cleaning chores off my "to do" list. I did a deep clean on a house which had gross tenants for 2 years. The bathrooms, I think, had never been cleaned, the fridge needed a deep clean...there was a lot to do. In 3 hours with a 3 person crew they brought it back to its previous glory! We needed our home cleaned for a special event. After researching online and through neighbors, we decided on Skilled Maids based on Yelp reviews. We bought the special promotion, as well. We were completely happy with the entire experience. Customer service and contact was quick and friendly. The cleaning crew of 3 arrived just at our specified time. And the cleaning they did was amazing! I mean amazing! ! I don't remember a time my house has ever looked or smelled so clean!! We are absolutely going to be using them again. Skilled Maids gets a solid 4.5 stars. Yes, I do the 'half-star' thing. Yes, you can actually rate a cleaning service on more than just whether or not the place is no longer dirty.... I'm not a neat freak, but when I clean, I clean thoroughly. Morena & the rest of the team did an excellent job proving that Meg G. doesn't know squat about the definition of clean. Hand-scrubbed floors like my grandmother did them.... attention to detail from the linens to the T.P. rolls.... a lingering fresh, clean smell that would put Febreze out of business... Yes, yes, there was definite skill involved. I needed a professional service; because, although I know how to wipe down door frames and baseboards and 'dust' ceiling fixtures, I cannot undo a few days' worth of drywall dust being blown all over a couple of floors in the house. Yes, I needed 'post-renovation' cleaning, and hadn't had much luck finding companies that specifically offered this. Once again, Yelp proved to be a great help. After speaking with both the owner, and the office manager, I was provided a quote and an opportunity to express exactly what I wanted done. The only snafu was that I mentioned a coupon I'd found on their website, which they explained was no longer valid. After a conversation/email, that coupon was promptly removed. This wasn't a big deal, but worth noting. In addition, there is a 3.5% credit card fee that they don't mention up front. Luckily, I'd read the previous reviews on Yelp, and wasn't caught off guard the day that payment was rendered. I assume that this percentage is to cover their processing costs as a business. Also, for first-time clients (or those new to the whole professional cleaning experience in general), it is best to remember that the billable hours are man-hours. Thus, you won't find yourself wondering how a 6-hour project is suddenly completed in 2 or 3. I would definitely recommend this company to others. They also sub-contract an air duct cleaning company that does an excellent job. I found their prices to be average/reasonable. Whether I needed another deep clean, or just a regular service, I'd be sure to call Skilled Maids again! read more

I just hired Skilled Maids to do a post-construction cleaning on my house. I called on Wednesday and was able to schedule service for that Friday. Three ladies were waiting on my doorstep ahead of schedule and once they were inside they were efficient, accommodating, and professional. They whizzed through all of that drywall dust in just over 2 hours! One of the women (I'm so sorry I didn't get their names!!) even took some extra time to help me wipe down all of the contents of my kitchen cabinets, which had been left by the construction crew on my counter and table and were covered in the aforementioned drywall dust. I hired Skilled Maids to clean up a condo as part of a move-out. I was very happy with the job they did in the kitchen and bathroom. I was really disappointed by the windows . The blinds were still very dusty after they went over them with a duster. I discovered after they left, one of the slats was broken. They left the broken piece sitting on the windowsill. I was able to fix the blinds, but I feel like if you break something you should admit it. Update: While I appreciate the offer below to correct the situation, it was a move-out and is too late. I did receive an email regarding my experience the day before my review, however, I did not receive a phone call as the response suggested. Regardless, I found the service because of Yelp and felt this was the best format to discuss my disappointment. It was pointed out in an email that both my boyfriend and I were asked if everything was ok at the end of the crew's cleaning. This is also not correct. We were asked for payment. That was it. The broken piece of the blinds was placed behind a curtain on a windowsill. I didn't find it until the next day. I hope in the future crews are told to be honest with clients before they accept payment. If they had just admitted what happened, I probably would have given them 4 stars. read more

The next day after my service I realized the coffee pot wasn't cleaned! Don't know how they missed it. When I went to make coffee the other day I found the filter was full of coffee grinds with a patch of mold starting to grow. My husband noticed the outside of the appliance hadn't been cleaned either. We have been using Skilled Maids for about 4 years now and they are the best! Before finding Skilled maids, we tried other big name companies and their goal seemed to be clean as many houses as possible in a day, sometimes without vacuuming my living room or leaving footprints on the hardwood floor as they left the house. NOT Skilled Maids. A crew of 2 are able to clean my 3-story, 3600 sq. ft house in just under 3 hours and I am never disappointed. The little touches they leave are my favorite and not typical of other companies. They've hung coats (that were not in the way of cleaning), washed dishes, folded my towels like a 5-star hotel, clean the windows and the inside of my microwave and fold back the toilet paper into a little corner. Might not seem like a big deal, but it means a lot to me. Also, they are sweet and kind and love my dogs so I am able to leave the dogs free while they clean and everyone stays out of each others way! Thank you Skilled Maids! read more

Here is my blatantly honest review. I called and spoke with Lilly who was very quick to return my call and even scheduled me right away. I mentioned that there was a special online and that I wanted to take advantage of that. She said that it would be better to not pay for the special online but to go through her instead because a portion of the profit is taken from them when I go through the internet. Instead, she said she would honor the offer. She quoted me a price for a deep cleaning and said that the second visit would be less and gave me a quote for that as well. I understood. The cleaning personnel arrived on time and went to work quickly. They did a good job from the looks of things and finished within an hour or so. Up until here I was completely planning on using this service again. However, here is where things changed. I paid a larger amount for a deep cleaning which included the base boards and my tub. My tub was cleaned quickly but I noticed they didn't get all of it. My baseboards were also not touched. While they were in my kitchen I heard a loud noise but I was with my baby upstairs and thought nothing of it. However, as soon as my Family returned an hour later they discovered that the toaster oven door was broken. They had cleaned the inside and underneath it but it must have fallen while they did it. I'm not one to make a huge fuss over everything or at least where it's not worth it so I didn't say anything and figured I'd mention it when I spoke with Lily next. Besides, what was I going to do? Call and demand ," I want a new toaster oven door!?" . I figured the baseboards could be cleaned the second time around. I called Lily to schedule a second cleaning and I was a little surprised to hear her give me a completely different quote from what she had said previously. I mentioned that this quote was practically the same as a deep cleaning and not what she had said so earlier. She said that this was because I was requesting every 3 weeks instead of 2. So I asked what it would be for every 2. The price was still higher than the first time. I also mentioned the certificate from the first cleaning and she had forgotten about it. I figured she had plenty of customers and this happened to slip her mind. What was outrageous to me was that she said Sure! She would honor the certificate offer but that it was used up because the first visit cost almost 250 dollars. I was confused. I hadn't paid 250 dollars for the first visit nor was it was she quoted me and now she upped the price so that the certificate is used up? Everything from this conversation made me upset and I no longer felt this business had any credibility. She said she would look into this and call me back. I never received a call back and I don't intend to call them either. I have since found someone else who did an Amazing job and put the services I obtained from skilled maids to shame. I am sure they do a fabulous job on carpeted flooring, but for those whom have marble and/or wood flooring it would be best to look elsewhere. I contacted skilled maids based on the previous yelp reviews and specifically asked for a team familiar with how to properly clean marble; Lilly assured me she had a crew with the know how I was looking for. When the team leader explained they were finished I pointed out the series of streaks on the flooring in my foyer and study, she replied that they are "in the floor" and cannot be removed, the thing is they were not "in the floor" before they cleaned/polished it. The same is true with the wood floors in the bedrooms. All in all, my floors, which had not been cleaned/polished in two weeks, looked better before they arrived then after they left. In fact, it took my normal cleaning crew five applications to undue the damage done by Skilled Maids. Perhaps a name change is in order, or at least a qualifier to denote the areas to which the name applies, as it does not apply to high end flooring. RJ Bethesda, MD RESPONSE: 1. Water is not a cleaning product. 2. If you tell me you are sending your best crew and that crew is less than proficient, it makes little sense to request a follow up. 3. I am glad that you have a giant customer base, however of them I am not sure how many have large homes. Mine is 9,000 square feet and while a crew can clean a 2,000 square foot home well it takes substantially more effort to clean a much larger home with the same proficiency. read more

Took our inappropriately dirty condo to liveable again. The prior tenant lived in filth with bird poop strewn about multiple surfaces. It was disgusting. After 2 days of cleaning, I broke down and had the unit professionally cleaned. Three women scoured the place in 3 hours. The fact that it's not perfect is a testament to how dirty the place was, not their cleaning ability (which was fantastic). Customer service was great too. Called Thursday for a Friday appt; even though they had no availability, Connie took my name and called me when an opening on Thursday came available. I was present during the cleaning and had a three-member crew clean my home that I was moving into the next day. I had to point out areas where they did not clean properly (grime in between titles, mold/mildew in some areas, etc.), which caused their cleaning window to go over the time allotted to my home. The crew was also given the wrong address (?), which caused them to be a half-hour late to my appointment. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the level of cleaning that I received in my home. Upon a more detailed inspection, I saw that the toilets were not cleaned well (rims were still dirty), the bathroom baseboards were not cleaned at all, the doorknobs were not cleaned/disinfected, the light switches were not cleaned/disinfected, and a light fixture was also not dusted at all. Part of the master bathroom shower doors were also left dirty. While I saw that the cleaning crew worked hard, I also noticed that they were cleaning my kitchen cupboards with cheap dishsoap and not any type of heavy duty grease remover, which was what my cabinets needed. I moved into a home whose previous owners made the kitchen cabinets extremely sticky and dirty and grimy, and am left with what I initially had before the cleaning. If they can't clean something, they should let me know before scrubbing to no avail. The crew also did not know the final amount that was to be paid. I feel disappointed that I did not get the quality cleaning that I was promised. I am also disappointed with the lack of response I have gotten from the owners; it has been two days and I haven't heard back from them to reschedule a re-cleaning. read more

I hired Skilled Maids to clean a vacant house I had just purchased. Three people cleaned for a bit over two hours. They get one star because the floors were nice and shiny and the inside of the fridge was cleaned well. However, the top of the fridge and multiple other surfaces in the kitchen were still coated with a dusty, oily residue. The shelves in the closets do not appear to have been wiped down. The tops of the fan blades are still dusty. The soap dishes in the showers still have soap scum. The windows are still dirty. The washer and dryer were not wiped down. Honestly, I find myself wondering what they did for two hours! I will not be using this company again, for move-in/out cleaning or for weekly cleanings. I would have gotten more value spending $200 on Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and white vinegar. read more
