The service was excellent. The food was ok. There is no ambiance. White walls type a joint. I'll come back for them pancakes and a cup of orange juice.

If you are looking for an authentic Irish local neighborhood diner, Mckay's is for you. This place gets five stars for its no-nonsense ambiance and good old-fashioned actual *service*. I was greeted instantly and matter-of-factly by one of the head servers who got me to a table immediately. Everyone in the place seemed to know each other and/or were regulars. My waitress was outstanding. I don't even know the last time I had such proactive and attentive *service*. She must have been constantly surveying the room because when I pulled out my daily vitamins she popped over to ask if I needed some water. I had bought a small bottle of orange juice at my hotel before leaving for breakfast. When I pulled it out of my purse to finish it off she asked if I wanted a glass with ice. And she always seemed to come by just as my coffee cup was about empty to ask if I was ready for a refill. They honestly don't make 'em like this anymore. With the new and outrageous tip culture where I'm asked for a tip as I am rung up at the register just for placing an order, where I have to pick up the food myself and bus my own table if I want to sit down, Mckay's reminds us why tipping was invented in the first place. At Mckays, even though I was from out of town, I was treated like family. Pro tip: Order the grilled raisin soda bread.

Just eat here again and it's is as good as ever had the Veggie Omelette without Tomatoes and Home-fries and Rye Bread it was awesome. As always if your around the Quincy area make this one of your stops for breakfast you won't be disappointed or leave hungry. P.S. the server was a awesome as well Thanks Mia

I don't want to do this. McKays has been a lovely breakfast spot and the waitresses are so sweet. But this is too much. Last fall I ordered takeout and saw a distinct mouse turd in my food. I am well aware of what mice feces look like, but I tried to let it go, thinking I couldn't possibly be right. I was wrong. Today my husband brought me to McKays for Mother's Day. In the second room, the room next to the bar, there's the overwhelming smell of mouse ammonia. Sure enough, mice started coming out from behind the booth in the dining room, running along the walls. It lasted the duration of our visit and we all saw, my 5 year old took photos. What's most upsetting to me is that it confirms that it WAS mouse feces in my food last fall, and it's still obviously an ongoing problem for them. Note: they took off my $11 breakfast as I was physically unable to eat it after watching the mice, but still charged the rest of my family for their meals.

The best corned beef hash I've ever had!! Granted I haven't had that many and this was the first time in Boston, but it was soooo good and had an authentic feeling. Definitely would recommend the corned beef! As a bonus the toasted english muffin on the side was buttery and delightful. The eggs were cooked just as ordered and the portions were large. I especially liked the Irish bacon and the sausages on the Irish breakfast. The black pudding and white pudding were fun to try and went well with the potatoes and meats. The Irish breakfast also comes with beans and Irish soda bread which was really tasty!

The Irish breakfast was greasy and disgusting. The sausages tasted rotten. I took one bite, paid and left. I won't be back.

We had a reservation and were seated right away on a nice large table for the five of us. Nice brick interior, a bit dark for my taste but I am old and couldn't see the menu too well, needed a cell light but super friendly server which always is a plus. Chose the Philly Cheese Steak and got the arugula salad which was fairly large for a side. Sandwich was also good-sized and I only could eat half but the other half made for a nice lunch the next day. Others were happy with their meals, I honestly forget what everyone ordered. The draft beers and other drinks came quickly and waitress was good about keeping our glasses full. Very responsive. Was sort of loud place is my only complaint. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant or on-street.

We also ordered their Caesar Salad which was good. I do remember this spot before it was Drifters and it was called Idle Hour which I loved so much. But I will say I am excited that a new pizza spot is now in its place. I think my next time that I try this will be physically at the restaurant. My only concern is that it is very loud. It is a great place to go watch sports for sure!

The place itself was small too so the music really overpowered everything. But once the live music wrapped up the vibes were good! Not too loud that I was screaming over it, but still lively. I got the Heart of Stone which was delicious! Not too sour or sweet, but was definitely a strong cocktail. I had 3/4 of it and I was already feeling it. My friend got an Old Fashioned and she was a big fan! It went down quite smoothly and tasted good too. For $14 a drink, it was a little pricy but honestly I've seen places in Boston charge more. I would recommend coming here to grab drinks but maybe not a spot to catch up because of how loud it was. Would love to try their food as it looked pretty good!

The buffet was epic- perfectly cooked baked eggs, bacon hash, and scrambled eggs were all uniquely prepared and excellent. The star of the show sat in the middle of the table with generous portions of prime rib were carved and hand salted on your plate. The buffet line continued with a lox platter, crudité, omelets to order, and a variety of up scale pastries. There was literally nothing on the buffet that was not noteworthy. We loved our drinks (bloody & cinnamon toast brunch) while the GM came over to chat. Our waitress Cheyanne was on point and helped us decide on our juice choices for the Bucket of Bubbles that rounded out our drink order. Excited to try dinner at this place, and would not be surprised if brunch reservations start to fill up far in advance.

Formerly known as The Townshend, this Quincy local restaurant is the best place for exceptional service, fantastic food, creative cocktails and am Ambiance that will sure impress any date. This might be my 3rd or 5th review because why not! When you find a place that you love you brag about it. For starters we shared their fried pickles with their homemade ranch dressing. We also love their stuffed dates. For entrees, I had their Salmon which is always cooked to perfection. My husband's had their Steak Frites which he enjoyed very much. Dessert is always a tough choice since all of them are excellent but this time we went with their brownie sundae. After plenty of glasses of wine and some dirty martinis let's just say we didn't want to leave but it was getting late. If you have never been to Dotty's or their other restaurants I highly recommend checking them out! Cheers

Met up with some good friends in Quincy and we're looking for a place to eat. Conveniently located by the Quincy Center stop, this place was great! We were seated quickly without a reservation (though clearly it can get popular, we showed up at 5:30 and by 6 the place was full of reserved parties!) and our server was very helpful. We got the fried calamari and the steak tartare as starters. While the calamari itself was crunchy and nicely lightly battered and fried, I would guesstimate that about 50% of the dish was actually calamari. The rest of the fried bits were carrot coins, lemon slices (with the seeds still in...) and what I think were pieces of poblano peppers. This honestly felt disappointing as the portion was quite small to start, and then for half of it to be miscellaneous fried veggies felt like it wasn't a great deal. The steak tartare was also an extremely tiny portion, with the plate heavily populated by arugula leaves and six tiny toasts. Not the most generous portions here unfortunately. I got the steak frites as my main. The steak itself was presently beautifully with a peppercorn sauce poured over it. However, I was looking for the salt shaker because the steak was quite underseasoned. While it looked like a good medium rare cook (how I ordered it) with a great looking sear, I had quite a bit of chew work to do getting through the gristly bits. The fatty side cap was a bit chewy and could have used some direct searing. The oysters were delicious! Not even a little bit of grit, with a very onion-heavy mignonette as an accompaniment. We didn't order much from the raw bar due to my friends' tastes but I feel like this would probably be the reason I come back another time with different people! I could have definitely been happier with the food here. But again don't sleep on the raw bar and if you're looking for a nice place to hang for an evening, overall great vibes here!
