Great breakfast!! I'm ashamed to say I've lived down the street from this place for 12+ years and didn't make it in until now. Don't be like me! My husband and I came in on a Saturday morning. I ordered breakfast #1 while my husband got the biscuits & gravy off the specials menu. After taking a few bites of our meals, we both immediately commented that the food tasted much better than it looked (which was just plain). My meal came with a little bit of everything cooked perfectly; runny over-easy eggs, fluffy pancakes, good home fries and delicious bacon & sausage. My husband's biscuits & gravy was unlike any I've seen before! The gravy came in a bowl and almost looked like a chowder. And it was fantastic! I've been here for breakfast and lunch. I'm very impressed with the quality of food and service. It's a simplistic, local cafe, with old photos on the wall. The food is high quality. The waitresses are always very nice. They don't "cheap" anything. The prices are reasonable. The restroom is even clean. This is a perfect place for a work lunch or a weekend breakfast. A small and quiet little family owned restaurant in quiet part of town. I'm a big fan of family owned diners and as much as I want to love this spot it doesn't quite do it for me. I would come here again, but it's not one of my favorites. I've been here twice. The first time I had pancakes and bacon and sat in their outdoor dining area. They have lots of space between patrons and umbrellas for shade. The second time I came here I had an bacon/egg/cheese sandwich. It comes with a side of home fries which we're soft and bland and could use more seasoning. When I ordered bacon with my pancakes, I asked for crispy bacon and it simply wasn't. I am keeping an open mind that they have better dishes. I'm not saying I wouldn't come back, but only if my favorite spots were closed/booked and I didn't feel like cooking. read more

Had breakfast here a week ago and its a cute little place. My omelette was fresh and delicious and i ate it in seconds! My friends enjoyed their omelettes as well. The pancakes my friend got were a bit dense which was a bit disappointing because they looked so fluffy. My fresh sqeezed orange juice was far from cold and came in the tiniest glass. My last thing that i didn't particularly care for is, its a known thing that if someone is trying to pay for everyones meal, as a server you take the first card or money that is handed to you and you walk away. I had handed the girl the check with my card BEHIND the table and when the other 2 people said "no no no! we are splitting it!" the girl came back to the table! She was already walking away! And despite me saying i was paying for it all the server took the other cards. Its like the first rule of serving that you stay out of the fight and you take the first card and walk away and let the people fight it out. Pretty clear that bf and I enjoy a good breakfast joint. It's definitely my favorite meal of the day and finding new spots to try is always fun. We stopped into Old Town on the morning of St. Paddy's Day, and given that Abington touts the second largest St. Patrick's Parade in the state, we expected it would be completely packed. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to find a quiet corner table without any wait. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Our waitress was hilarious in her green gear and had a great rapport with us. I ordered a grilled bagel sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese) while bf got a custom omelet. Coffee was good and refills were quick - always appreciated (if you follow my reviews, you know I more than like a good cup o' joe). There wasn't much of a wait for the food and hot damn was that the best grilled bagel I have had to date. Here's the thing about grilled bagels. They can be really greasy cause you gotta lube them up before you put them on the griddle. The bottoms can get a little soggy when they hit the plate steaming hot. However, when properly grilled, the softer bottom is offset by the crusty, crunchy perfection of the grilled face of the bagel. Old Town nailed it. Soft breakfast sandwiches with no texture are the worst and this one was so awesomely crunch-tastic. I find myself day-dreaming about another one. It's $5.99 for a breakfast bagel sandwich with a side of home fries. Reasonable to me for how delicious the end result is. read more

First time here despite living in the area for a while. The seat yourself with no sign attitude and lack of direction to what is the front door makes it a bit hard to automatically know where to go or what to do; but once your inside it's a lovely place. The servers are quite polite and quick to help, and they are very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was mostly good, despite the training of a new chef. It came quickly and was accurate overall. My original omelet was overdone, but the replacement was perfect. My friends hashbrowns were inconsistent with mine, in both temperature and flavor. The waffle she got was good, though a bit light on the fruit accompaniment. My partners food was good, the croissant sandwich was huge and filling. Overall we will be back, just hope the chef is trained up by then! read more

We waited over 30 mins for a 10 minute wait. The waitress screwed up our orders, didn't bring out two of the items. She brought us the bill before all the food even came out. We sat and waited for kielbasa as we payed for our bill and she still asked us if we wanted the rest of the food but everyone had been done eating. first off, I had called before placing my order for an order of wheat toast & orange juice (my child was home sick today and thats all he had wanted) and I also got an order of eggs Benedict. before placing the order, I had asked if there was pulp in the orange juice. the young women had said no. ok. I took up for it (my child will not drink pulp) as soon as I got it picked up and went home, of course I should've checked but I'm also not the one getting paid to be checking on these things and making sure everyone's order is correct, they have someone for that, there was 1. pulp in the OJ. my kid lost it. 2. no hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict. I gave a call and went back to the store for a refund on the juice and asked for the sauce. when I get home, the sauce was sour. I couldn't even eat the meal. a waste of 1. property (someone else could do better) and 2. not very friendly about it either. all she had to say was "here is your money, have a good day." not an apology or nothing. disgusting. don't even waste your time. My husband and I are so glad we had breakfast at Old Cafe. The restaurant is very small but cozy. After our waitress took our order Our food arrived 15 minutes later. Our meal was definitely worthy of the wait. Hubby ordered the Truck Driver Breakfast. He totally enjoyed his breakfast. No complaints at all. However, he didn't eat the pancake and French Toast. My husband doesn't usually eat Pancakes and French Toast. I ordered the Two Egg Breakfast with A side Homemade Corned Beef Hash. My food was absolutely delicious. I totally enjoyed every bite. My family was disappointed with the lack of quality breakfast establishments in the area when moving to Abington back in 2011, and discovering the newly remodeled Old Town Cafe was a thrill! The Old Town Cafe is a wonderful addition to the community. Here's a quick review for all you Yelpers: First, parking is very straightforward with close to 20 spots in the right side of the restaurant. I am sorry to hear about one reviewer having their car towed, but does that qualify for a 1 star rating? 1 star ratings should be reserved for establishments with poor service, terrible food, and poor upkeep. Second, there little space for those who need to wait in line; so be prepared to give your name w/party size and wait outside. There are about 20 tables inside so it moves quickly if you go during the busiest time of the day/week (which is 10:30 on Sunday for most breakfast places). Third, after 10 + visits, the service is exceptional. You are greeted with smiles and a warm disposition. The servers always bring over multiple rounds of fresh (never burnt) coffee during your stay. They even offer you coffee after you have paid the bill! If you have questions about the menu, they servers take time to explain it to you. I have even seen instances when other servers clear their co-workers tables. Having previously worked in the restaurant industry for 7 years, that almost brings a tear to my eye because it represents team atmosphere to service all customers. Forth, food is delicious. Eggs are farm raised & organic. You can taste the difference. Steak and Eggs is my primary go to, never overcooked with hot home fires and eggs over medium to compliment. Go with the grilled English muffin and skip the toast. Old Town Cafe delivers value; the quality of the food for the price is exceptional. The food maintains a level of consistently that represents and well run back of the house. Kudos to the cooks. Finally, the owner is a phenomenal person.
