I've been getting Brazilian's for years now, and having only recently moved to the LA area from NorCal, I was mortified to have to look for a new Waxer-Extraordinaire. It's always difficult getting comfortable with someone going you know, down there, and grooming your itty bits. But I was almost instantly comfortable with Tera. Her personality is warm and sincere, but after a few minutes of conversation, you'll get that she's going to be very real with you too. I've been here a few times now and can say with confidence that Tera's great at what she does and I've been extremely satisfied with the wax services I've received - she's very thorough and very clean. Not once have I had any irritation or in-growns, and I've even had to push back my appointments by a week! Tera is like the Waxing Goddess!! Cons: The parking is pretty limited, unless you can snag street parking. But even that's only available under time restrictions. So scour the neighborhood and be prepared, you might have to walk a block or two. Also, it's a small studio with very thin walls. Sometimes I'm uncomfortable talking about some personal things, just because I don't want others who are waiting, to eavesdrop. read more

UPDATE: I went back tonight when I heard about eye lash extensions. KIRA IS AMAZING. she stayed late an hour just for me to get my eye lashes done for the very first time right before my cruise. :) YES I love them! So natural yet flirty. My boyfriend loves them too! YES. I CANT BELIEVE I DROVE 2.5 minutes down the street to this place. I could've walked here! I left my house at 3:24 for my appointment and got here at 3:27. I thought I was going to be late! I was treated so well and so professionally yet I felt relaxed. LMU students get a discount here! They do eyelashes and waxing of alllllll kinds here. They even offer champagne in the wait / lobby room. It's a cute little place with two rooms but they are starting to expand to across the building. After reading reviews and researching services I decided that Tera sounded like a great fit for me for my much needed facial. After going to the website, she didn't have the facial that I wanted available for over a week. I bit the bullet and decided to book it anyway and wait. 2 days before the service, I emailed Teramai, since they never pick up the phone when I call to see if they had any other times available. Minutes later, my reservation was cancelled. I didn't want to cancel, just wanted to see if there were other options. I've now called and emailed with no response besides- please reschedule on the website. I'm sure the services are great, but the customer service has left me less than satisfied and I haven't even walked in the door yet. And honestly, I don't think I will at this point. read more

BEWARE! This one-woman show was the first negative experience I have literally ever had in my years of bikini waxes. I never take the time to write reviews. This experience was so horrific I had to put it in writing. First, (and as a number of people have have already complained about on here), you can never get a live voice when trying to arrange an appointment with Tera. She is always booked over a week out. After speaking with her, you are forced to take an extra step and make an online appointment where you have to give your CREDIT CARD information to keep your appointment. Who does that?! When Tera finally managed to return my call, she was extremely rude and unapologetically refused to honor my Groupon with her, which had literally expired the day before - a day, mind you, that she was conveniently closed. I even called several times before my Groupon had expired, and I couldn't get a live voice on the phone to arrange an appointment. How convenient... It is clear that Teramai is not interested in gaining new customers or maintaining a loyal, happy customer base. Moreover, Teramai does not honor its promotional discounts so BEWARE!!! There are so many amazing spots you can go in LA for your waxing needs. Your money is FAR better spent elsewhere! read more

I bought a 6 session waxing package from Groupon and was pretty excited to give this place a try because of all the positive reviews. I haven't even step foot in the door because I can't seem to schedule a appointment. I've tried scheduling a appointment on the company website but had trouble allocating a time frame. I called and left several messages and still haven't spoken to anyone. Perhaps I'm a little old fashion and believe when you call a place of business they should answer the phone or at least return phone calls promptly. I'm not sure if it is the hours of operation but the hours aren't super convenient for a person that works 9-5pm. I'm guessing this is really nice place from the yelp reviews but thus far it's not easy to even walk in and get the service I paid for. I'm going to see if I can have my coupon refunded because I don't want to hunt a company down for them to take my business. I'm less than pleased with the service I've received and I will not continue to waste my time or money trying to schedule a appointment. read more

Parking: street parking, I had an early appointment so this wasn't a problem Storefront: located in a building with health/wellness clinics. The room she uses to wax you is clean and decently decorated. Brazilian wax: Tera was fast and friendly and did a good job. The 2 stars are because of the hassle: 1) It was difficult booking an appointment. First I tried calling Tera and she directed me to book an appointment through her website. I was disappointed because I prefer talking to an actual person when it comes to these kind of services. I then proceeded to book online and there were no appointments available. I had to wait a week to see her. 2) When reserving an appointment online, you have to provide your credit card information, WARNING - I do not recommend doing this!!! I had a Groupon voucher already and her website charged me $55 anyway. It took almost a week for them to credit the money back to me. This was super frustrating and I was not happy with how Tera handled this. Every time I tried calling it went to her voicemail and she would email me back. I buy Groupon vouchers to check out new businesses and save money, not get overcharged. Sorry, not feelin' this place. read more

When I arrived at Teramai Waxing studio for my 2:00 appointment, I was 5 minutes late. After repeatedly apologizing and explaining that I had tried to call to inform them I was running late, the woman I spoke with insisted that I reschedule since her next appointment was coming in at 2:15, and servicing me would mean the rest of the day would be late.I again apologized and offered to wait against her advising me otherwise and pushing me to reschedule. She stressed that they had a zero tolerance policy for taking late appointments. At this point it was nearly 2:10 so I chose to wait. At 2:20, the 2:15 appointment had not arrived, so I again asked if I could be seen. The woman told me that she knew the 2:15 appointment was coming because the person had just stopped in prior to me arriving. I pointed out that she too was late for her appointment, and that since I was present, could be seen immediately. She still refused to book my appointment. At 2:25 the 2:15 appointment had still not shown and the woman still refused to take me. After being treated with such disrespect and disregard, I felt I had no option but to leave without rescheduling. Later that day I got an email from Teramai informing me I had been charged $50 for missing my appointment. read more

I am very disappointed with the customer service. I had an appointment at 12:15, and unfortunately I had an emergency at the office and was not able to leave.I understand there could be a cancellation fee - but $55.00? The full price of the service. (when I only paid 25.00 on GROUPON) So I have lost the $55.00 and 25.00 because I am not going back there again! Tera did not understand my situation one bit, and did not try to accommodate at all. The exterior is underwhelming. In fact, that is an overstatement - its scary - I wanted to leave as soon as I saw it. It appeared to be run-down and not the type of place one typically gets a facial. I rang the doorbell and when no one answered, sat on what can only be described as NASTY stairs. When I did get in, I waited for 30 extra minutes. I asked to use the restroom, when I had to leave Teramai, and go back up nasty stairs to a nasty bathroom (which, if you knew it was there, could be used by any member of the public). The facial was actually really good and I enjoyed Tera. She did have to leave to answer the door, which I did not love - especially when it seemed to take her 5 minutes to get back to me. Honestly, no worth going back - I am sure there are huge advantages to having your own place - I'd recommend that she go work for someone with the facilities and support so she can focus on the facials. read more

This place is such a cute hidden gem in Marina Del Rey. Tera and Danielle are both so welcoming & warm. Upon arrival I felt very comfortable and knew I had picked the right choice. They offer a variety of services. I ended up getting eye lash extensions that was surprisingly done in a great timely manner. I've had other eye lash extensions that taken up to two hours for a full set but I was in and out within 45 minutes. The looked so natural and did not feel like I had bricks on my eyes as other eye lashes have. I would definitely recommend coming here. I must say I don't agree with all the negative reviews here at all. Her online appointment booking is really convenient. I had no issues at all. Yes you do need to leave your credit card information, but that's just good business. You have nothing to worry about if you show up to your appointment. Street parking was easy for me to find mid-afternoon during the week. I was running about 15 minutes late due to the unanticipated traffic. She had no problem with that as I called and left her a voicemail keeping her well informed. I purchased a Living Social deal for a Brazillian wax. I loved the decor of her boutique. Very clean and great design. She had Pandora playing on the Prince station which was playing music that I really enjoyed. So much that I added the Prince station on my Pandora lol. Any way, the procedure was quick and thorough. We had great conversation during. She was very professional and friendly. I'll definitely be coming back for furture services. Thank you Tera. Having read the other review of this place, I was compelled to write one myself as I had a really nice experience there. I too found a discount for this place and happily headed over to get my brazillian wax. The store is well kept and adorably tiny (just the front room and the two treatment rooms) and the wax I got was fantastic. So many estheticians don't do the full deal on a brazillian wax (between the buttocks) and it just drives me insane. Tera did a great, relatively pain free job that was smooth and even. And the price could not be beat! The only drawback to this place really is the bathroom: it's shared with the rest of the building and the landlord DOES NOT keep it up like he/she should. But as long as it's relatively clean and there's soap and toilet paper, I'm a happy camper. read more

I didn't pay any attention to the TWO negative reviews on here, because people can just be hard to please sometimes. The fact that she wrote back to those people and called them out amused me to no end, and I decided she was the right lady to go see. Got in right on time and immediately felt very comfortable in her little office. She was wonderful the whole time and a great conversationalist which helped keep my mind off of the pain. Tera is friendly and efficient in her job. I went in for a Brazilian and was out in less than 15 min. If you give her several time slots to choose from, it may be easier to book your appointment. Like many here, I had purchased a living social voucher and was cashing in. I was fortunate enough not to experience a lot wait though. I was about 10 min late due to traffic, but Tera mentioned that there is a 15 minute grace period before she cancels appointments, so I was able to make it on time. The place is clean and she is very sanitary about her procedure. She did mention to me that those who make appointments with their living social voucher, and fail to show up, will forfeit their voucher. I can see how that would be frustrating to some, but it honestly makes sense. If you are not going to show up, just call and cancel, how much time does that take? And it's just like some restaurants that take your credit card information and will charge you if you are a no-show, it is to protect themselves since they are blocking out space for you. So if you aren't going to show up, just make the less than 5 min call to let Tera know. Then you can still use your voucher at a later date, and she can book someone else who may have wanted your time slot. read more

I simply couldn't be happier with my choice for everything skincare with Tera. She is so warm, fun and welcoming! The studio is VERY comfortable, clean, well organized and just beautiful. I look forward to going there - even for the not altogether comfortable waxing days! Tera is always ahead of the curve with technology, treatments, and care. She uses nothing but the best products and offers reasonably priced specialty facials and even Celluma, an LED light treatment for acne, wrinkles and pain/inflammation. Finding an esthetician is so hard to do because really, who wants to go to someone new EVERY time you need a wax DOWN THERE???? Well, I'm so thankful I found this place. I initially came because of a 3-visit groupon that was such a good deal. I am now a continuing customer even without any coupons because there just isn't anyone out there as experienced and comfortable as Tera. They feel too hospital-like AND they charge extra for an extra strip along the belly. A flat rate is the easiest way to go, imo. She also has the most incredible memory. You can show up months later, and she still remembers your last conversation like it was 5 minutes ago! Talk about customer service! And finally, DO NOT BE LATE. I was late 5 minutes once because I mis-calculated traffic...and I had to wait for the person behind me to go first. I get it, she packs in those visits one right after the other. So be respectful to everyone's time and just show up early. Parking's not the problem, it's the traffic along Lincoln ha! But seriously, don't be late. It's a bad habit anyway. read more

As always, it is such a pleasure seeing Tera. Even when we're talking awkward waxing situations. To say she is talented is a no brainier (she's the ONLY waxer I'll go to as long as I live in La). But, as I recently discovered, she gives one amazing oxygen facial. Whoa, did that do my skin good! I look fresh as a daisy! Her new suite (100A) is flat out AMAZING. It's beautiful and it harkens you back to the golden age of Hollywood beauty, complete with quotes by Coco Chanel framed on the wall, and a stack of "miss manners" Q&A cards. Just in case you need a quick etiquette brush-up. (I'm a big Emily Post fanatic, so that was a great touch). So... a) the place is beautiful and has whimsical beautifying fun written all over it. b) Miss Tera is pretty amazing and every time I see her it's as though no time has passed and we just laugh and talk the whole way through. c) it's not painful, really, at all.
