Monica was GREAT! I had a wonderful afternoon and really enjoyed my facial. She listened to my needs, made good suggestions....we enjoyed some nice conversation-but she wasn't too chatty so I was able to relax as well! This was my 1st attempt at an esthetician since I JUST moved to this area and I think I hit the jack-pot on round one! I will be back for sure. The room is nice, the products great! I also did a brow and lash tint and I think the lash tint may have been the best one I have ever received-including some refreshing eye-drops at the end. Elizabeth's Skincare Studio is located in downtown Menlo Park. I found this shop almost 3 years ago and have been so happy with their service! Both Monica and Elizabeth are incredibly attentive and professional. Monica has been shaping and tinting my eyebrows and they have NEVER looked better!!! I had a really difficult time finding someone who could shape them without making them too thin. Elizabeth is awesome. I just had my second microderm from her. I get facials about every 3 months and she is most definitely one of the top 2 estheticians that have worked on my face over the many years. She is very knowledgeable about everything that has to do with skin. I was surprised about some of the things she knew. For first timers park in the back. I missed this the first time I was there. And when you go inside just sit in the waiting room and she will come for you. You don't check in with anyone. I was really early the first time and kept wonderring if I was in the right place. Elizabeth is wonderful. She's kind and approachable which for a Brazilian wax, I want that. Her place is really cute but kind of hard to find at first. it's above the bookstore on el camino in menlo park. she will do hot wax or strips, but she seems to be more experienced with the strips. she makes you feel comfortable and it's warm in the room so you're not freezing with your little patooky hanging out there. she charges me $40 for a brazilian. Hands down the cheapest i have ever had. she even plucks the stray hairs which i wouldn't expect for that price. You must use her!!! My only complaint is that parking is a real pain. there is a little driveway that holds about 4 spots but if another car is trying to come out using the driveway and you're trying to go in, you have to reverse back out onto high traffic on el camino. not good. read more

I ADORE Elizabeth. I always thought I was cursed with two completely different and bizarre eyebrows, but after Elizabeth gets done with them they look like a pair of eyebrows out of a magazine! I will NEVER trust anyone else with them again!! I also go to her for the dreaded Brazilian wax. While I wouldn't be so bold as others to describe a wax of any kind, no matter how well-executed, as "painless", Elizabeth is faster than anyone I've been to, as well as super efficient, thorough, and friendly. I had avoided getting my eyebrows down for a while. I tried threading (and hated it) so I decided to go back to waxing even though I had not found anyone in the area that I trusted...until I found Elizabeth. Elizabeth knows exactly what she is doing. She asked me if I use acne medications on my face (which I do) and so she used a gentler wax. She was meticulous and for the first time in a while my eyebrows came out exactly as I wanted (which is impressive since they were a mess!)! She was very sweet, accommodating, and professional. She also zapped the waxed areas with something to help prevent breakouts from waxing. I highly recommend her and plan to go back! I've been going to Elizabeth for 10 years now. She is amazing! She offers everything from facials, silk peels, bikini and leg wax, to the most beautiful eyebrow wax, and does it all to perfection. I seriously have never had such clear, smooth skin as when I started getting her wonderful facials. And, at least once a month or so somebody compliments me on my eyebrows (she's a perfectionist!). She's so sweet and friendly and makes you feel so comfortable while she works to make you look and feel beautiful. I was in more despair than usual over my skin looking worn out and dull (thank you business travel and insomnia). I was hoping for a quick sandblast and found this place through a Groupon for a micro with silkpeel. I opted to add the glycolic peel because yeah, I needed some work. Monica was really nice and did a FANTASTIC job with my face. I'm sitting here several days later and my skin is still baby-butt smooth. She even had tolerance for my occasional but embarrassing mumbled non-relevant speech in my REM states during the 45 minute therapy ... yep, even the acid burning on my face didn't phase me, she was that good. read more

This salon is adorable. Elizabeth is lovely and it's true she is very fast. It was a less painless brazilian than I've gotten in the past - I think it's the baby powder. My eyebrows look amazing. They are very light in color and one of them is particularly sparse. Elizabeth got the color (and also the shape) exactly right the very first time which NEVER happens. Not to mention that my eyebrows don't look like caterpillars which I've experienced often when having them dyed. If I wasn't moving far far away, I'd be her loyal customer forever. sniff. read more

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who didn't like this place! My 1 star review is in no way a personal attack on the owner...I just want to warn other Yelpers. The many 5 star reviews on here baffle me. I found it very hard to get ahold of Elizabeth, first of all. I forgot if I had emailed or called her, or both, to make my first appointment, and it took several tries until she responded. That's no way to make a good impression on a potential client! She mumbled something about having twins who occupy all of her time, as though that's an excuse. I get it, you're a parent. But the lady who I went to for waxing before I went to Elizabeth has kids, as does the woman I get waxed by now. But for some reason, neither of them ever have trouble returning client emails and phone calls promptly. So I made my appointment with her for waxing. I showed up a few minutes early for my appointment, went upstairs, and was greeted by a sign that said something like "Please have a seat. Elizabeth will be right with you." Ok, very nice....so I sit down in this open lobby area. It's now my appointment time....then a few minutes after. Again, not a good impression to make on a potential client. While I'm sitting there waiting, thinking maybe she forgot me, Elizabeth walks by with either a client or a building contractor (hard to tell who it was). She walks right past where I was waiting and was talking to whoever she was with, pointing out something. They stood there chatting for several minutes, with Elizabeth walking by me back and forth several times. I thought it was rude. If you made an appointment with a new client you've never seen before at 1 PM and at 1:05 there's a woman in your lobby, do you think there's a chance I'm your appointment and you could acknowledge me? So about 15 minutes after my appointment, she comes in and nicely introduces herself (again, this review is not a personal attack on the woman herself!). No apology for making me wait 15 minutes and ignoring me, but that's ok. So we go into the waxing room and not only is it gross and dingy, but it felt very flimsy and unsafe, like the covering over the walls or door could open with a gust of wind. It looked like a lot of her equipment was old and just not cleaned. WORST part: she double dips when doing a bikini wax. How great! I can see double-dipping with waxing eyebrows or even underarms, but double-dipping the stick with bikini or a Brazilian is a no-no. If it's not against the law, it's certainly not allowed by esthetician license. Gross! At the end, I paid and it was a curt goodbye and that was it. If I were a beauty salon-type owner and I serviced a new client, I would have emailed or called her the next day to ask how her service was and check on her skin. I'm just suggesting this is good practice and a good way to get repeat clients. Instead, I came, was waxed, and no follow up on Elizabeth's part. She doesn't need to, obviously, but just treating new clients like they don't matter by ignoring them, keeping them waiting, and no follow up is not a great feeling. My guess is that she has many long-term clients and doesn't need new ones, therefore little effort is made to keep new clients! read more

I have had several microdermabrasions with Monica. Not only does she do a great job, she is hysterical. I don't think I've ever laughed so much at a salon, and my skin always looks amazing. She does a great job with extractions too, and really tailors each session to help you with your particular needs. read more

Ok so after my less than stellar review Elizabeth reached out to me to hear what had gone wrong and to offer me a re-do with her. Elizabeth was a lot more receptive to the issues I have (eczema, very sensitive skin, and acne to top it off). Her facial was nice. This is not a super lux place. I still have a bit of beef with their location. They are right on El Camino and have single pane windows. When I get a facial this is my only time to veg out, relax and take some time for myself....which is a bit hard to do when you can hear traffic wizzing by and car horns. I greatly appreciate Elizabeth reaching out and having great customer service. read more

Elizabeth is very nice and her place is very clean, pretty and the chair is so comfortable. Cons- Very expensive. Her follow up is also terrible. Every time I had a facial, I would break out like crazy. She offered complimentary zaps, but she never followed through. I left her 4 messages and she never got back to me. I am very dissapointed in that, considering how much money I had spent on a facial that didn't even offer a mask or massage. read more
