This is going to be a long review so I apologize in advance, but I feel like people should know this before going here. On August 19th I came in for a regular clarifying facial due to some VERY MILD, forehead breakouts. I will attach pictures. I made it very clear when I came in I did not want anything harsh or abrasive or anything that would take a long time to recover from. I was assured the clarifying facial would be just what I needed. My facial began and it started off great, very relaxing. The woman doing my facial said she recommended a salicylic acid mask to help get my breakouts. She informed me it would burn but to stick it out because it'll be great for my skin. I told her the face wash I used (CeraVe SA renewing cleanser) had 2% salicylic acid in it. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND. She then said it didn't matter because the mask was 10% and much stronger. She puts on the mask and it immediately starts to burn super bad. It made my tongue tingle even and I got scared and asked her was in the mask. She freaked out and said she didn't know and grabbed the pamphlet, which concerned me but how do you not know what is in a product you are putting on peoples face. She looked at the pamphlet and said just salicylic acid. She started fanning my face and said to stick it out just a little longer but would take it off after five minutes instead of the usual ten minutes she does. She takes of the mask and gasps which obviously is not a good indication. She tells me I have frosted and all the pigment is gone around my mouth. She shows me and I panic as well. As we are looking in the mirror the frosting goes away and just turns red. Also keep this in mind. So we both calm down and figure it was just a glitch. She then makes a joke and says she thought I was gonna beat her up and she was going to have to pay for my facial. Idk that comment was just very off putting to me but I was nervous and scared about how my skin would turn out so I just laughed it off. She then said I should do the red light treatment and that would help my skin calm down from the mask. Mind you she charged me for this light. So she gives me calming balm and sends me on my way and tells me to update her the next day. So the next day my skin is extremely red and rubbery. She tells me to come in again and get two more red light treatments, these two she gave me for free. When I came in the owner said frosting was good and most people want to frost because the skin comes back nice. The redness after the frosting is normal. Also another things the woman doing my facial did not know. Not once did they say we are sorry this happened to you, instead just kept trying to flip it as a positive saying my skin would be so nice after it healed. After the red light treatments my skin was still discolored and at this point started peeling extremely bad. I told her the red light wasn't working and that I wanted a refund because my skin looked awful. She told me to come and talk to her and the owner about it. So I come in and the owner isn't even there. Instead she gives me a bunch of samples and then tells me to try them and that if my skin is not healing by now it must be something I'm doing or putting on my face. Mind you I have followed every single direction she told me to. She also said if I wanted a refund I would have to call and talk to the owner myself but since I already received two free red light treatments and these samples she doesn't think a refund would be fair to them. Mind you I received these red light treatments and samples to fix a problem she caused and each red light treatment is $45 but I paid around $120 plus tip for the faviI felt so upset and angry at the lack of empathy that I didn't argue and just took the samples and left. I used all of the samples as directed but ended up with hypopigmentation on top of the hyperpigmentation caused by the mask, I think due to the fact these products were made for fairer skin. It is over a month later and my skin is still sensitive and peeling. Not once did either the owner or the girl who did my facial call to check on me to see how my skin was doing. I'm not only disappointed in the results of my facial but how the woman who did my facial as well as the owner handled the situation. This was not my first facial but due to this experience it will probably be my last. UPDATE TO BE FAIR: just received a voicemail from skinbar they left after reading my review (I assume) and they said they will refund for the initial facial, red lights, and tip. I do appreciate this and them taking the time to respond. Better late than never! read more

I've come here quite a few times for the same service, Dermaplaning but I feel like the service I get is less and less each time I come. I booked for a dermaplaning full appt which says 1hr and 15 min appt yet I was only in the room for 50 min. My face doesn't feel as moisturized as usual. The place was inviting and really calming but it was the shortest facials I've ever received. Extractions were included and face felt awesome I got a little red but it felt great. I booked this facial after a surgery to relax and to get some moisture back in my skin after being in the hot desert sun. Therefore, I was willing to spend a bit extra for a great experience. I called Skin Bar on a Tuesday Morning and was pleased to book same day! The owner Lynda was so sweet, helpful, and personable. I excitedly booked my facially and couldn't wait! My appointment rolled around and I showed up and was promptly met at the the front by my esthetician, Elena. At this point I was super impressed by Skin Bar and their service. Everything had been seamless, but that is when things took a turn. I walked in the facial room and was surprised how quickly I was ushered into the bed. All other salon professional facials I've had, have you disrobe and remove all your clothes so you're extra comfy. So, it's safe to say, I was a little confused and uncomfortable to climb under covers in this heat in all my clothes- also- don't you need to reach my chest/décolletage? To add to not being fully comfortable, the lights above me were never dimmed, there was no music- just absolutely no sense of calm or relaxation, as I lay there in my stuffy outfit. Elena dove right in and got started and was such a lovely girl- she was so kind and sweet and gentle with me and did a great job... however, the service was finished after thirty minutes... and it cost over $200 dollars (not including gratuity) As aforementioned, I've had many incredible facials. Yes, this was a great facial but it was as bare minimum as possible. I've had under $100 facials with soft robes, nice music, the offer of a tea or water, a cozy warmed table, a hand & foot massage, and just a general sense of relaxation and going the extra mile. This was not my experience here. My review gets three stars for stellar service by the team in person- but for the utter lack of finesse within the service. The price for quality just isn't there. You can get much better for a lower price elsewhere. read more

This place is garbage. I've been here approximately three times and with each visit my experience got worse and worse. The only reason that this place would even deserve one star, is that the girls that work here are all very nice people and friendly. (except for the weirdo that's always at the front desk, she's dumb and says wack shit to me every time I've come in there) The first time I got a facial here it was just okay. I had just moved across town and wasn't impressed by the results from this newfound skin care place. I decided that maybe I had just gotten a girl on her bad day or something. I went back a second time and tried a different girl. The second girl did the same mediocre job on my facial, but what made me mad was my lash tint she did. She tinted my lashes alright, along with the rest of my eyelid. It was sloppily done and I looked like I had a black eye all day. I decided to give this place one more go, just because I heard so many good things about it, and that I figured maybe third time would be a charm. Wrong! I went in for a simple eyelash tint and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had, and I've been getting my lashes done for years. The girl not only burned the crap out of both my eyes, but she didn't even tint them. Not even a little bit. She is so personable and engaging and really takes the time to get to know her clients. She is passionate about skin care and it shows. There is never any pressure to buy products and she sets her prices appropriately for the amazing services they deliver consistently. Kayla was my esthetician and she remembered me from my previous visit over 2 years ago! Wonderful personal attention and very friendly. By the end of our hour we were more like friends!! One star for the decent selection of products including murad, dermalogica and others. That's it. They've decorated it nicely, but there is way too much attitude in the air here. I have interacted with two different ladies at the counter and both of them had alaska-sized chips on their shoulders. I came here for the hangover (vita-c) facial and was so glad I did. Everyone there was so friendly. The person who did my facial was very knowledgeable and my face feel so clean and rejuvenated after the facial. At first, I wanted the clarifying treatment, thinking that they don't do extractions if I get the hangover treatment...but nope, she sure did extractions and my skin is as smooth and radiant as it can be. Also my arms and shoulders were massage while the mask is on. After the facial, my experience didn't end there. She continue to put on makeup that is good for my skin, Jane Iredale products. During the facial, I had told her how I was using MAC products on my skin, and learned that those products are not good for my skin due to the chemicals and fragrance that are heavily infused in them. When she proceed to hand me the mirror and I looked at my face...WOW, this makeup is wonderful. My skin look so nice and the color blended so well! I fell in love with this line of makeup. Thanks to Yelp I was able to find a place to get my eyebrows done near the M Resort (I was NOT going to get them waxed for like $35 at their spa...) I made a same day appointment for 2pm. I arrived early and Diana saw me right away. She was very friendly and did a great job with my eyebrows. She really sat there and figured out how to wax/shape my eyebrows so that it can flatter my face. (My makeup artist complimented me on my eyebrows later on that day!) I went to Skinbar for 'permanent make-up.' I am happy with the eye-liner on my upper lids. I had to return for a touch-up shortly after the original work, but that's not unusual. The liner on the upper lids is very nice. However, I wanted thicker eyeliner on the bottom but couldn't take any more pain, so I had Sasha stop before the eyeliner was as thick as I would have liked. I had medicated in advance AND stopped mid-procedure to have a CBD gummie but I just couldn't take any more pain. Therefore, my lower eyeliner is not as thick as I would like. I had 'permanent makeup' done many years ago by Min in Chinatown and it didn't hurt nearly as much. To be fair, it might be Sasha vs. Min OR it might be that I'm older now and just more sensitive. No way to know. I also had my lips colored. The first time was a flop but that was my fault. I bled like stuck pig because of my aspirin consumption. I gave myself a two week break from aspirin and other NSAIDs, went back and we tried again. Without the bleeding, Sasha found it much easier to tatoo the lip color. However, in no time at all, the color had faded to the point that I must put on lipstick if I want to have lips. Very disappointed. That was $350 (including tip) down the drain. To be fair, Sasha will provide one free touch-up. I might return in November, before my December cruise; give it one more try. After having 'permanent make-up,' I scheduled a bikini wax in preparation for vacation. In doing so, I was talked into eyebrow and eyelash tinting in preparation for a three-week vacation. The tinting was suggested because, as a retiree living on a fixed income, I didn't want to commit to eyelash extensions but can no longer apply mascara without making a mess. (Arthritic hands) I was happy enough with my bikini wax except that I think I was charged for a Brazilian. Re the tinting: When the girl was done, I looked in the mirror and said "Uh. Ok." Then I went to the restroom. When I came back, she said she'd re-do it then and there; that she'd made a mistake and used the wrong product (or something). So I had my eyelashes re-tinted then and there. I could tell the difference between the first and second attempts. But she's using dye near the eye; I hadn't thought that through prior to making the appointment. Wasn't too happy to sit through that twice, but kudos to her for admitting that we didn't have success on the initial application. The eyelash tint faded before I boarded the plane! My eyebrows did look better. I think I spent $111 on that. That's a lot of money for about a month's worth of eyebrow tint. Summary: I'm happy with the eyeliner, not happy with the lip color. I think I was over-charged for the bikini wax. I was happy enough with the eyebrow tint, but the eyelash tint was definitely oversold. I'm hitting about .500; definitely not a 5-star experience, but not horrible. I'll probably return for another bikini wax before my December vacation but will be sure to clarify what I want done and what it'll cost. read more

I went to this place this morning ,got their $99 dermaplaing facial, and I had such a great experience. It was my first time ever getting any sort of facial so I was a little nervous. A few nights before I came in I got a chemical burn on my cheeks from a really harsh face wipe. So,I was concearned that what I wanted done wouldnt be possible or if it was possible, that I would be in some discomfort. Once I got there and we started, it wasnt long before I realized I had nothing to worry about. The lady I had was very nice and very gentle on the sensitive areas of my cheeks.
