I decided to try their injectables rather than continue with my Beverly Hills injector- I hadn't been going to her long enough to really be committed. We all love a one stop shop right? Sunday morning I was like... let me go back to work after this holiday looking *ahem* rested and refreshed (wink wink). Sad to say I am a spur of the moment kind of lady so when I reached out to Cienega Medical for a last minute time slot (as I always do) they didn't have anything available for me in SM buuuuut they could fit me in at the WEHO location in about an hour and a half. Sweet! I made my way over and you know how holiday traffic is in LA ~ a total breeze ~ so I arrived way earlier than I thought I would. They were happy to fit me in for an express facial as well! Winning! They were welcoming and pleasant- unlike the week or two wait I was getting used to at my BH clinic and the exasperation they'd give me when I wanted to add a spur of the moment service. (Girl if you don't take this money and fire up these stray chin hairs, come on... I booked a Brazilian how much worse can the chin be? dang) Anyway... My facial with Nicole was lovely and she was careful of my lash extensions but injectables is what we're here to talk about right? Its hard to mess up a facial but needles? Girrrrl I wanna talk about it first. Yasmin was knowledgeable and personable and not only listened to, but clarified my statements about my concerns. She made some recommendations regarding some areas I had been concerned about but I didn't even know there were treatment options for. Sold, ok? The price came back and I was a little shell shocked but hey- I was literally getting double what I had planned for so its not like it was unreasonable. The process was as quick and about as painless/painful as you'd expect injections to be. I'm only two days out but I already see the results coming. All that sounds great right? Well here is the magic of Cienega Medical: Im currently sitting at work bored because we're in the upside down week before the New Year so I was browsing their website and a special caught my eye... A special I was not offered when I was there two days earlier. Now I'm rarely one to complain or haggle on pricing but I was like- wait a minute. Why didn't anybody tell me about that when I was lubricating my credit card with tears? So I bit the bullet and called them to ask why. Honey... their Manager Brittany was like, OH I'm glad you called - that package just started like yesterday! I'll credit your account and you'll get the difference next time you come in, plus I'll throw in a lil extra sumthin sumthin for the trouble. Um ~ What? She was so sweet and forthcoming that I didn't even want the difference back- I had her throw it onto the tip I had left for Yasmin. (I know it was paltry - I'm sorry baby) The whole point of my call was really an exercise in taking my therapist's advice and addressing difficult conversations before they fester into real conflict or repressing my hurt feelings. Nobody wants to feel hoodwinked or taken advantage of and I must say that Cienega Medical Spa is far and above the best MedSpa I have experienced in LA and as a woman pushing 50 who prides herself on looking unquestionably 35 - these ladies are now officially my secret weapon. Carla was the perfect reintroduction to luxurious self care and my skin really needed a boost! I've felt like facial massage has become a lost art lately, and often times estheticians are so focused on gadgets/tools/lights/etc that the soothing benefits of manual facial massage have fallen by the wayside. I was so so pleased when Carla give me a wonderful face/neck/shoulder massage while under the LightStim. It felt wonderful and it gave the impression that she cared about her clients relaxation in addition to results. So when it was time for the mask, I hoped she would continue that level of warmth and she did. She did a hand/arm massage while I masked, and that was so nice too. I've had so many technicians either do their dishes during that time or leave the room completely and I appreciated her care for the full treatment. Her products were all great quality, facility was clean, I was offered water and never felt rushed. It genuinely feels like Carla cares for her clients, and sadly I think that's not always the case (especially in LA). I left feeling relaxed and refreshed and had a healthy glow. Thanks Carla! From the moment I walked in, Lydia the receptionist was so friendly and welcoming. The lobby was clean and beautifully decorated. I also noticed how organized the product displays were. I met with Manager Jennifer for a complimentary consultation. She was so knowledgeable and informative. She recommended me products from DBH and Dr. Grandel. I had the Karis facial for anti-aging and skin rejuvenation by Esthetician Michelle. Michelle was so incredible! She was kind and had skilled techniques. TLDR: service is fine, but they will try to bully you for a tip…read more I purchased a 90 minute facial via Groupon. When I called to make an appointment and was asked for the voucher information over the phone. I found that a little odd and decided to provide that info at appointment time. I was serviced by Eva. Overall the facial and little massage of the back and arms was great. There were some moments the facial massage was a little too much pressure for the neck/face area, but I was overall pleased with the experience. Once the service was complete Eva TOLD me to leave a tip of at least 20 percent. I responded "I intended to tip anyhow because I enjoyed my service, but you cannot tell me to tip or how much." I left the tip in an envelope where all these signs about tipping are in the service room. After I returned to the reception area Eva is waiting for aggressively pointing at the tip envelope. The lady at the front desk asked how my service was. I replied" I enjoyed my service, but after being told to tip and how much in the service room and now Eva pointing at the tip envelopes I'm very annoyed. A tip is not required." At this point I wished I had left no tip at all. This was a ridiculous end to what thought would be a great experience. If your staff wants a certain amount per person then include it in the price or don't promote on Groupon. No one wants to be harassed for a tip.
