This bbq spot has been in Decatur for a while now. Depending upon who you ask they get mixed reviews. The regulars seem to like it, and some folks don't. Well, I've been here enough times to form an honest opinion and let's just say I will not be a regular, if I even come back. I will start off saying that the mac and cheese is the star of the show. That, the did get right. Each time I have checked out this place the ribs were an epic fail. On this particular day they were tough and old tasting, the potato salad was nothing but potatoes and heavy Mayo, with no thought of an actual recipe, but instead just thrown together. The brisket was decent, but not great. As people came in other patrons were advising them not to get the pulled pork, that it wasn't good that day. If I ever go back it would be for the Mac and cheese alone. I've had better bbq and do not recommend this establishment.

Baby let me tell you something ! This food was fire! One of my suppliers picked it up for us. When it tell you it was hands down the best BBQ I have ever eaten! Everyone had brisket that was cooked to perfection. I had the smoked chicken salad sandwich withe pecans and grapes absurdly good and huge. Sides fresh cut fries sweet potatoes and kale -fire Mac and cheese wont tell the secret mist get Brunswick stew spicy and hearty the absolute best collards great. So dessert wast the blueberry bread pudding brought tears to my eyes the best I ever had.

Been wanting to take my husband here so we could try the brisket. It was AMAZING. So tender and not dry at all, best brisket we have ever had. Community Q has solidified for us our go-to bbq spot we will be recommending to all our friends and family. Friendly and quick service too! Lots of seating. Get the collards and mac - those are our fave sides!

Rob sandwich with smoked sausage, RED potato salad and baked beans

**BLACK PERSON REVIEW** My husband and I were at the DeKalb Farmers Market and decided to try out some BBQ places over here. We settled on Community Q and honestly, we didn't make a bad decision. Let's run it down: We both got the same thing: Rib sandwich with sausage and potato salad but I got an order of the baked beans with mine (pictured). Sausage: phenomenal. No, really. It was firm and flavorful and crusty and had a firm bite. I could have stopped there. Bread: toasted well. Crusty but not burned on one side and soft on the other just the way I like it Ribs: fantastic. Smokey, flavorful. I judge ribs on whether or not I need sauce or extra sauce. 4 out of 5. No extra sauce needed. The sauce they come with is plenty. Tangy and thick. Clings to the meat. Doesn't overpower the meat. If the sausage is the star the ribs are best supporting actor Potato salad: I hate it when places don't tell us the potato salad is red potato salad. That's a different flavor profile and important to know ahead of time. It's not my preference. I also prefer a thicker potato salad - ice cream scoop-able. This was loose. The big chunks of potatoes and boiled eggs were a big plus. No salad cubes or relish though so it wasn't sweet enough. Baked beans:. They were way too sweet which I didn't enjoy.. They added rosemary which enjoyed. They were a bit too firm with some of the brand not being cooked though which told me that they at least weren't doctored canned brands. Go for the meats. Experiment with the sides.

Dinner date night pivot with Hsu and when we could not find free parking at another restaurant in downtown Decatur. So it had been a while since we had barbecue and parking was plentiful on a Friday evening! My hand and I shared a full rack of St Louis earrings which were fantastic! I remember ordering them once in advance for a Super Bowl party but think I did not really get to enjoy a lot that time. I tried the vinegar based sauce in the yellow container at our table which I liked. My husband used the thicker bbq sauce in the red containers. We demolished the ribs and none were leftover. I had the Mac and cheese because it is my favorite in the city. My husband had blacke eyed peas. I also ordered banana pudding for dessert which is always a winner in my book! Staff was friendly and even offered to cut the full rack by the bone for easy dine in enjoyment! I should remember to come here more often since my husband loves bbq and Community bbq does it mighty fine!

This is our go-to BBQ spot and have been countless times. Whether you're dining in or getting your order to go, the food is always delicious. And they always get the order right. The ribs are perfectly cooked and not too fatty. The macaroni and cheese is probably one of the best I've ever had and highly recommend trying it. Every serving has a little of the baked cheese on top! The brisket sandwich is a pretty big serving (served with bbq sauce on the side) and I usually always have leftovers. The collard greens and banana pudding are also excellent. We've always receive great service here too. We usually go in and get our order to-go, and we've never waited for more than 5 min for our food. The wait can be a little longer if you're dining in. The inside is decorated with old sports team banners and flags, and lots of pig decorations and drawings. The bathrooms could use a little more attention but they aren't the dirtiest I've seen. Lots of free parking in the large lot outside of the building (shared with a few other restaurants).

My granddaughter Loves playing with the pig and this is a new one.

You know it always pays to listen to your elders. Last week I was walking past going to a nearby restaurant. However I saw this spot and decided to stop and read their menu. Now as I'm doing so a little elderly man is approaching the door. He says if you never eaten here it's some of the best. Well today I came back. First as you enter the restaurant, I enjoying the smokey BBQ smell through out the restaurant. I walked up to the counter and placed my order. The service was quick fast and simple.I settled on the slice brisket and chose 2 sides collard greens and Brunswick stew. I took a seat. The food soon arrived. From my first bites of the collard greens and Brunswick stew ,I was hooked. The collard were full of flavor. The Brunswick stew seemed to be just a tomato based corn mixture. However I found it quite pleasing. The brisket was spot on. The texture was moist, not greasy and very well flavored. Now I will admit. The first time I discovered this place I was turned off by the price. However I'm glad I didn't let that stop me. Yes I payed $27 for a meat 2 sides and a drink. But let me tell you it was well worth every bit of that price.

    Sliced Beef Brisket Sandwich

Food was soooooo dry and had no flavor. I was salivating for some brisket today so I found this place. I ordered a brisket sandwich and almost choked trying to eat it. I couldn't get through the first two bites because of how dry it was, I added bbq sauce and it still didn't help. I told the server that it was dry and was asked if I wanted to box it up or have it taken away. I left it and walked out. Horrible experience. Looking for some good brisket near decatur because this wasn't it.

    pulled pork sandwich and fries
    Lili J.

I've passed by this place quite a few times and finally decided to check it out. I ordered a classic pulled pork sandwich and fries, which is a staple for BBQ restaurants. It had a ton of pork, but the pork wasn't flavorful at all, which is weird because I smelled like smoke walking out of the place, but none of the smoke flavor was in the pork. We got a couple of different items and no one was really that impressed by anything. The fries were good and had a nice seasoning, but they weren't really that crispy. I honestly probably won't go back because there are a lot of BBQ restaurants around that I feel are a lot more flavorful.

After our drinks arrived, it took more than 45 minutes for the food to come out. The food itself was delicious. We had the half chicken and the trout. The ingredient quality is high, you can really taste it. However, the wait time was a bit too long, especially considering how empty the restaurant was. Aside from the long wait, everything else was good. I wonder if the delay was because we came shortly after they opened for lunch, but if they're open, the kitchen should be ready. Overall, the food is quite good, though the entree menu is somewhat limited, if excluding the pasta. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth trying. Personally, I'm not sure if I would come back. I'd rather not experience that long wait again, but maybe it was just an off day when I visited.

The chili was fantastic, and I heard good things about the chicken, but the poutine was a pass. The cafe is reasonably large, with two dining areas inside plus a bar and an outdoor patio. We had been in this part of Decatur many times and I never heard of it. We took the quick 5 minute ride over and I realized we had passed it many times. I think it had a different name last I noticed. As we approached I noticed the nice sized parking lot. A quick estimate, it could hold about 40 - 50 cars. I quickly found an open spot and walked over to the entrance. We entered and I could see the host walking toward us. He greeted us warmly, we let him know we were a party of 2 and preferred to sit outside. He informed us we could head out there and pick our own seat. We walked through the dark interior and headed outside using the side door. We found a table at the end of the patio near the front of the restaurant. There was plenty of outside seating on their patio and many of the tables were covered or had an umbrella. It was a little cooler than I expected so I ran back over to the car to pick up my jacket. I returned to the table and our friendly server came by and asked if we were ready to order. We were happy to see they had an extensive beer menu and I chose the Hi-Pitch Mosaic IPA from Hi-Wire brewing and Wifey ordered the Harp Lager. For food, we kept it simple and decided to share the Pork Nachos appetizer. Our waters came out next, and then the beers came out soon after. As we were hanging around and enjoying the patio I noticed the place was very dog friendly. The Pork Nachos arrived and were excellent. It was not a huge portion, but the perfect size for what we were looking for. The chips were crispy and the pulled pork was seasoned well. All the ingredients worked well together. We would definitely recommend the nachos if you visit Wheelhouse. Overall, this was a very good experience during our 1st visit here and we will definitely return when in the area.

Our waitress was pleasant but didn't offer any suggestions -- the valet attendant was nicer and actually did more than the waitress. We started with the $7 truffle french fries (happy hour portion, 4-7pm). They were enough for both of us. Crispy on the outside and soft in the center, but there was only a light dusting of cheese on the top layer of fries. It would be better if it were sprinkled throughout the entire pile. The grilled filet mignon ($52) was not good. It looked like ground hamburger shaped into an oval and had hardly any flavor at all.
